Verveine Fishmarket Restaurant

Milford, New Forest, 45-60£
10/12/2020: We had a very warm welcome from Sally and were shown to our table for 2, on the upper level, directly opposite the kitchen. Unlike the local Lymington man who complained about his table in the same position, we were very happy with it. When time allowed David included us into his conversation and answered questions, in a very genial manner. It was like sitting in a friend's kitchen while they prepared a meal, just drinking and chatting between courses. If only our friends could cook like David and his team!We both chose the 6 course tasting menu, with mine paired with a variety of lovely wines. What a treat for our eyes and taste buds. Even before the first course there was a quirky amuse-bouche, looking like a raw egg in an egg cup, which in fact was a mango creation. Followed by the lightest waffles ever, sprinkled with crispy onions, delicious. The 6 courses were brilliant, hard to choose a favourite, but will go for the most silky satay sauce served with???? and ??? fruit. My wife had 2 desserts and myself one. Once she tasted the first spoonful of liquorice ice cream, her reaction was almost a recreation of the famous Meg Ryan scene in When Harry met Sally. We would highly recommend choosing Verveine, not only for its sublime food, but the relaxed outstanding atmosphere and excellent service. My only slightly selfish suggestion, would be to have a small basket of artisan bread on each table, this would allow me and other customers to mop up every drop of those exceptional sauces.
04/12/2020: This is by far the best restaurant experience we have ever had. Everything was exceptional, the food was beyond exceptional and the sense of theatre was amazing. I can not rate this highly enough, we opted for the 6 course blind tasting menu and it exceeded every expectation. This place is one of those rare beasts, somewhere that not only deserves its excellent reviews but is actually better.

Mackerel Sky Seafood Bar

Newlyn and Mousehole, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
10/12/2020: All the previous excellent reviews are true. Simple, tasty, fresh dishes served with a smile. Well done to the team here and thank you.
09/12/2020: We were looking for somewhere good for lunch ....just passing through the area. The Fish House - Fistral

Newquay Central, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, 20-30£
24/12/2020: Had dinner at The Fish House last night, we had the homemade focaccia (to die for) and then the linguine & risotto - honestly one of the best seafood meals we’ve had. Would highly recommend a visit.
21/12/2020: Beautiful fresh seafood, a delight to dine in this restaurant again. Excellent service in a relaxed atmosphere.

Coast Restaurant

Oban North and Lorn, Argyll & Bute
24/10/2020: We had mussels and pate for starters, both were absolutely delicious. I make my own pate and normally when I eat out it isn't as tasty, but this one had a full deep flavour and was seasoned perfectly. The salad and fruit sauce served with it was a fabulous accompaniment. Bread homemade and great. We both had the beef for a main and it was cooked beautifully, and the crispy potatoes, vegetables and delicious jus made it a wonderful meal. We were too full for pudding. Service superb.
20/10/2020: We enjoyed an early evening meal at Coast and took advantage of the Light Menu which was excellent value for money and very delicious.. Service was excellent, very friendly and it almost felt normal to be out for a meal in Oban.

St. Andrews, Fife
18/12/2020: Had the lobster & crab which arrived early this morning. Very well packaged & the ice blocks were still semi frozen. It did create nearly as much washing up as a home made meal. But it can only be described as a taste sensation! The crab, with the tangy sharpness of the Asian salad was magnificent & the lobster, easy to lift out of the shell was sublime. I would love to know what the seasoning for the broccoli was, as it made such a difference to the taste. The bread was so soft & tasty & as for the salted caramel chocolate dessert- well- that was just out for of this world. Well done to all the team. A lockdown pre Christmas treat that surpassed expectations.
17/12/2020: Received my first Haar at Home box last weekend - opted for the crab and lobster box. Arrived well packaged and everything was in perfect condition and good portion sizes for a two course meal for two. The crab and lobster were both beautifully fresh and the accompanying salad and veg also very fresh and well flavoured. Booked another delivery for New Year, and am already looking forward to it!

The Seafood Restaurant

St. Andrews, Fife, 45-60£
14/12/2020: First time in five months we decided to go out for Sunday Lunch. Glad we chose this restaurant. What better way to spend a rainy and windy day being served by friendly and efficient staff with fantastic food. The all three courses were extremely tasty and beautifully presented. But the tart tatin was the best, totally great. Thanks.
05/12/2020: Simply excellent. Fantastic starters and mains. Great taste, beautiful presentation, perfect balance on the plate. Lovely mocktails. Helpful and attentive service. Really well done to the team - my best lunch in Fife.

The Crab Shed

Salcombe and Malborough, South Hams, 30-45£
13/12/2020: Fabulous fresh crab and mussels. The crab linguine was perfectly cooked. The moules were delicious. The staff were very polite I love the Crab shed and we always visit when visiting Salcombe.Perfect location and you can park right outside.A must if you visit Salcombe
03/11/2020: We popped in here on the way to Torcross, about 4ish in the afternoon. I know things were difficult with the covid restrictions, but we were met at the door by a really cold woman who took us to our table without any pleasantaries and then completely forgot about us. We ended up having to shout over to the bar to get some service, and they were slow too. There were more than enough people working there to serve the few of us in there, and some of the others staff seemed ok. But the lady that met us and several of the others were really lackluster. Shame becuase it looks a great location and has the potential to be a nice place. We wont go there again though.

Number 7 Fish Bistro

Tormohun, Torbay, 20-30£
17/12/2020: Not sure if my Mrs could survive here as there was a note to keep mobile phones switched off or to silent, which we both thought was a nice touch.First class service. Not too busy as midweek. The selection of battered fish and moules mariniere were lovely. Nice atmosphere/ interior. FAB U LOUS.Fidelscastrol.
05/12/2020: What a great little find, a very wide selection of fish dishes (as the name might imply) we had skate wing and turbot and both were absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and “straight from the ocean” fresh. Staff were v friendly and helpful. Is located at the top of the town but fortunately there is a car park directly opposite. If you like fish this is an absolute must highly recommended

Mrs Will the Fish - seafood take-away

Solva, Pembrokeshire
17/12/2020: A must-have when in this neck of the woods - fresh dressed crab. Cold and rainy so had it hot with linguine, chilli, garlic, lemon, parsley. Simple and perfect.
25/11/2020: We rented a cottage in Solva for a long weekend. Having seen the reviews, we ordered a seafood platter for four. It was beautifully presented, so fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend. Outstanding.

Shap Chippy

Shap, Eden
19/12/2020: No Christmas Parties this year so we improvised with our local Award Winning Chippy Van coming to us Cannot recommend Shap Chippy enough - Amazing Food, Amazing Service - All Staff Members with full tummies and happy smiles Exceptional Service - very lucky to have these guys on our doorstep
18/12/2020: We live some distance from Shap, but have heard the good reputation, so when passing nearly we called in to try the F & C. Of course we had to wait outside- they are very careful Covidwise and that has added to their reputation. I gave my order, waited socially distanced on the shop and was served in very good time.As to the F & C. YES they were excellent and must be some of the best anywhere. We can understand the reason for the good reputation. Thanks chaps, we will certainly call again when in the area.

North Sea Fish

King's Cross, Camden, 30-45£
09/12/2020: This place makes great fish and chips that I have been enjoying since 2011. The skate and rock salmon are the best, but the cod, the plaice, the haddock, and halibut are great too. Their chips are delicious and the gentlemen serving them are generous with the amounts they serve me. I also reccommend fried fish cakes, cod roes, and onion rings as well. The calamari, scampi, and prawns are nice too. You can also try their sausages battered or not, and the saveloys are as delicious. For those who do not prefer fried seafood, they offer grilled Sardines, Salmons, and Mackerels for takeouts.
26/09/2020: Visited again after a 6-month hiatus, it was a treat as always. It was also sad to see how few people go to restaurants these days. I hope that their business will pick up and continue to be the best.

The Galley Restaurant

Topsham, Exeter
18/12/2020: Just moved to Devon and so pleased to find this little gem. My husband and I love fish and consider ourselves serious foodies so have high expectations and this did not disappoint! Charming, welcoming and friendly. Lovely lunch menu which is very reasonably priced. Everything was delicious. I had cured salmon with pickled beets. Hubby had gurnard. Mains included Sea Bream and Hake. Both mouthwatering my delicious. Yes we did dessert. We never do dessert! Delicate lemon and ginger cheesecake with meringue shards. We will return!
28/10/2020: Great for local fish, friendly staff, nice atmosphere . Food and wine were good value. Modules with tarragon were great

White's Seafood and Steak Bar

Castle, Hastings
12/12/2020: Booked lunch for 3. Waiting staff brilliant, very friendly and knowledgeable Starters were really tasty, no moans there! Looking forward to our main dish of plaice, on a bed of crushed pots (the fish must have slipped off the bed!) and other fishy food with red crispy Kurlykale but we were very disappointed, it certainly wasn’t a good looking dish when put in front of us! It was rather off putting and we did comment to the waitress that maybe they should concentrate on presentation more! My husband has rhubarb crumble and custard and said it was yummy. Bottle of Argentinian white was very good. Overall we would go back but..... PLEASE present the food better so it LOOKS appetising please
05/12/2020: Yet again another very enjoyable experience at Whites. Staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our server went out of her way to accomodate us so we could enjoy a fabulous lunch. My starter was a white mussel chowder, which was so enjoyable that I can say it was one of the best starters I had ever had in my lifetime. The main course fish pie found on the specials board is a sensation leaving you warmed up, full and content. The staff were excellent and even the background playlist music was of a quality that added to our enjoyment. I honestly feel like I am eating at a friends house rather than a restaraunt. Cannot wait until my next visit. Long may this restaurant suceed!

The Fish Shack

Lydd, Shepway
08/12/2020: If you like to know where the food you are eating has come from then look no further. Enjoyed a delicious Fisherman’s roll here after it was recommended by friends. The homemade tartare sauce to go with it is very creamy and yummy. Check their opening times and also they may not be open if bad weather. We got a take away then drove to the RHDR railway car park by Dungeness to be able to open our car doors and chat to friends. Many people park nearby and eat in their cars . Looking forward to when we move into tier 2/1 so we can sit on their tables by the shack on the beach. Wear warm clothes for this time of year and if you are not familiar with this part of Kent let me tell you the wind can blow hard here! Friendly staff who all work very hard to deliver high quality food. Be prepared to wait during busy times but be patient, it is worth it.
31/10/2020: Went today at half term from the railway. Three children and my wife soaked to the absolute skin . Standing in the pouring rain completely ignored by the surly staff who didn’t even look up to tell us the lobster was out of season. Walked away. Never ever be back.

Peter's Fish Factory

Margate Central, Thanet
28/11/2020: there isnt a lot to do in lockdown Kent in winter, so a stroll along the beach and a box of chips are a welcome treat! I say 'box' as the cardboard boxes they're served in are a lot handier than bags to eat out of , also you can flip the lid shut when the ever circling and squawking seagulls get too close! The chips were absolutely delicious, fresh and crispy, pea fritters excellent too. Absolutely recommended.
04/11/2020: A lovely stop on a bright sunny winters day for haddock and chips - good value and great taste too - highly recommended
