Purslane Restaurant

Inverleith, Edinburgh, City of
02/01/2020: My partner and I had dinner here before hitting the Hogmanay street party. We were treated to a delicious and beautifully presented five-course meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and there was no problem accommodating my partner’s pescatarian diet. £65pp (we opted for the £5 cheese course), not the cheapest option available, but an appropriate price given the quality of the food and experience, in my opinion. Great choice for special occasions.
02/01/2020: Cost about £65 each. The dishes were small but delicious, and over five courses there was more than enough. Very friendly and a lovely experience.

Cafe Sapore

Hartburn, Stockton-on-Tees
15/12/2019: Cafe Sapore is lovely. We have just been for another Sunday lunch, ,, it was just what we needed. Everything is cooked perfectly, with lots of hot vegetables and tasty gravy Which is definitely cooked by a professional chef.
12/12/2019: Having booked this in advance my friends and I were looking forward to this very much. The menu was full of delicious choices, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

Croft 36

Na Hearadh agus Ceann a Deas nan Loch, Eilean Siar
21/12/2019: We were lucky enough to be staying in self-catering accommodation opposite the Croft 36 hut so we’re able to visit daily. Tried most things on offer during our two week stay and found that there was always something we fancied or could eat - a lot of dietary needs were catered for. The fresh bread was great and reminded us of village bread that we used to have in Turkey. However........the frangipane tarts were immense!! I am getting hunger pangs just writing about them!!
19/10/2019: Visited your little shop this morning and bought a beautiful homemade loaf that was still hot from the oven. We drove back to Tarbert and our self-catering cottage and made ourselves some lovely tuna and cucumber sandwiches using your loaf. They were delicious. The best bread I’ve tasted for a very long time. Thank you. If we lived on Harris we would be buying a lot of your tasty bread!

Bush Pepper

Newquay Central, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, 20-30£
06/01/2020: A relaxed late Christmas get together and we wanted somewhere different to try, this place delivered on all levels. Food was amazing, wine great and service unobtrusive but knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended, we will be back!
04/01/2020: After a long drive through the day to get to Newquay, we checked in at the hotel and set off in search of dinner. After a quick google I stumbled across this BEAUTIFUL little place. Phoned. Booked a table for two. Walked over and they were very welcoming to seat us straight away. From their I was amazing with how accommodating they were to my black pepper allergy. Had the mushrooms to start which were a wonderful burst of flavour accompanied by their Paddock Chardonnay. Main was their chicken A.L. forno which was plated beautifully. Every part was cooked to perfection by clearly a well trained chef. Dessert stomach was delightly filled with Theo upside down mango cheesecake which really topped off the whole experience. I must say that I have never eaten at an Australian restaurant before but this was truely OUTSTANDING!!!. Thank you very much to all the lovely staff. Compliments to the chef and once again thank you for not causing an untimely death ♥️

Stella's Kitchen

Hathersage and Eyam, Derbyshire Dales
04/01/2020: Wandering around the peaks was perhaps the last place I expected to discover this incredible hidden gem of an eatery. Secluded on the road between Eyam and Foolow, Stella's offers authentic Afro-Carribean food and a homely, highly personal atmosphere. Sitting right next to the kitchen, you just know your food is being freshly prepared with the utmost care and dedication. When it arrives the taste is like no other! Full of flavour, distinctively African and leaves you wanting more! I really can't recommend discovering Stella's Kitchen highly enough.
01/01/2020: The most lovely warm welcome , literally into Stella’s home, to be served fabulous African and Caribbean food. We booked lunch for ten on New Year’s Day, we had a choice of chicken or sweet potato/butternut squash curry with rice and peas and ginger cake to follows (there is a wider range on normal service days). It was hearty, delicious and amazing value. All gluten free (not the ginger cake but she does a GF alternative). Don’t be fooled by appearances - this is a place for busting your expectations and having a fabulous home cooked meal in the process. Stella is warm, welcoming and such good fun - the perfect hostess!

Caffi Gwynant

Porthmadog-Tremadog, Gwynedd, <20£
02/11/2019: Excellent range of breakfast choices, we opted for sausages on sourdough. Beautiful quality ingredients topped with their home-made jetchup. St
20/10/2019: Whilst staying local this cafe was recommended to us by our B&B; owners. The food and service are excellent, we enjoyed it so much on our first visit we went back again.

21/01/2020: Staff are always attentive and welcoming. Drinks and food are always delicious. Excellent location, service and food!
20/01/2020: We visited Grand Cafe last Saturday evening for a meal with friends. As usual the service was excellent and the food delicious. Tara and the staff were very attentive and our food, served well.

House of the Rising Sun

Quarry and Coton Hill, Shropshire, <20£
14/01/2020: A fantastic venue. Great service. Two Aussies and a Pom looking for a few wines and some vegan options. HoTRS was perfect. Went last Friday and loved the ambience, service and food. Shout out to Jonny the waiter.
13/01/2020: - Decor is trendy, but not overdone

Fazenda Rodizio Bar & Grill

City and Hunslet, Leeds, 30-45£
21/01/2020: Second visit here for wife's birthday and the food is exceptional. If you like meat this is the place to go. The salad bar has plenty of options too but if you like meat rare then it comes dripping to your table. The staff are excellent too. Yes it's expensive but you pay for quality and quantity.
20/01/2020: If you are going to do all you can eat this is a really great way to do it The problem is realising how much you are actually eating, fear of missing out versus taking a piece of meat from every skewer that passes by. The salad bar was excellent, lots of options, sides and accompaniments to the endless supply of meat - I do wish the sweet potato had been served hot from the kitchen though, like the french fries.

Fazenda Rodizio Bar & Grill

City Centre, Manchester, 30-45£
21/01/2020: This is a meat lover's paradise. There were 16 types of meat on offer, ranging from beef to lamb to chicken to pork...
20/01/2020: I took my partner here for his birthday, the attention to detail was amazing, the food was so good and they even brought out a little birthday cake at the end, completely free of charge!

The Boathouse Restaurant

Harbour, North Down
13/01/2020: Went here for Sunday lunch as a special birthday treat. We arrived at 2 pm and were a little disconcerted to find ourselves dining alone. So glad we stayed. Jonny the manger made us very welcome and gave us his undivided attention throughout. After ordering he served us a portion of warm home- baked bread with caramelised butter. Yummy. Our starter of Bangor bay local scallops with Apple and chestnut veloute was outstanding. This was followed by a nice amuse bouche onion tartlet with goats cheese soufflé from the chef. For mains we chose Skeadhanore (Cork) Duck with seared foie gras, a tiny duck faggot wrapped in black cabbage, fondant white turnip, roasted parsnip chips and game jus. Duck is not something I have much experience of eating outside of Asian restaurants and the whole dish was bursting with flavour. I particularly liked the salty nature of the crispy duck skin. While we took a breather and enjoyed our Primitivo wine, Jonny arrived with another amuse bouche of buttermilk parfait with candied ginger in syrup. Then came the puddings. My wife went for apple and pear panna cotta with pear sorbet dressed with chocolate shards and edible flowers. I chose an apple tartlet with custard cream and apple sorbet. Both were pronounced outstanding.
05/01/2020: We have now been to the Boathouse 5 times and it has been excellent on every visit. Jonathan and the staff are very welcoming, attentive and polite. The food and wine are delicious especially the Garzon Tannant!! If you want to have good food and wine in Bangor then this is the place to go. Thank you all for a lovely wedding anniversary evening and we look forward to our next visit.

David Bann

City Centre, Edinburgh, City of, 20-30£
13/01/2020: Whenever we visit the city we have to make a trip here. It has never disappointed. Excellent food and service and great value too. When a purely veggie/vegan restaurant is busy on a stormy Monday night in January you know it’s going to be good!
13/01/2020: Everything was spot on. Great ambience, friendly and welcoming staff, and wonderful food. We had the koftas and cheese tartlet for starters, followed by the cauliflower curry and mushroom strudel for main, washed down with a nice pinot and tempranillo, and a shared assiette of desserts for two. Delicious. Great place. Recommended.

Constancia Argentine Grill

Grange, Southwark

Meadows / Morningside, Edinburgh, City of
18/01/2020: Having walked past the green police box on literally thousands of occasions, finally stopped to buy a crepe. Absolutely delicious and full of filling. Lots of schoolchildren coming to buy chocolate crepes. Would definitely recommend.
16/12/2019: Absolutely delicious and well worth the wait if there’s a line! Make sure you bring cash and small change if you’ve got it! Pricing is reasonable - anywhere from around 3 to 7 pound per crepe. Quite a range of choice - all of which are well filled and smoking hot! Also, it doesn’t matter if you’re looking for sweet or savoury, because they got ‘em both. I mean damn, there are some great little places in the vicinity, but I reckon I’d go for Tupiniquim above the rest.

Art Cafe

Beer and Branscombe, East Devon
08/01/2013: Took my partner on new years day for something to eat. The cafe was very busy indeed. it was a sunny day and everyone had descended on the place. There was a long wait for food as only one person in the kitchen but it was well worth the wait. We are both vegetarians so thought the menu was wonderful. We will be back soon.
13/06/2011: We go regularly and it always delivers. The menu is always changing and offers a huge variety to those of us who are used to the tiny choice that us veggies usually get. We've taken many meat-eating friends there, and they've often not even noticed that all the food is vegetarian. There's always a choice for everyone.Very much a 'personal' restaurant. Anna (the owner) is excellent. And she allows dogs in, which is a huge bonus for me,
