The Fox in West Berkshire

We had lunch with friends and The Fox was the perfect venue for a catch up. It was our first visit and the food was the best we had eaten in a long time. I had one of their handmade pies and my wife had the sea bass, both were delicious.

We chose this a central location for a group of 6 of us to meet up for a long, lazy, late lunch and were not disappointed. The food and service were excellent. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Comfy seats meant we had a lovely chilled catch up together and we stayed for the afternoon.

Lovely food and beer, attentive and engaging staff, all together a wonderful experience. Fully recommend. Go there !!!

We had a lovely meal - recommend the duck and venison! The atmosphere was buzzy and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. We don’t live in the area but if we are ever back near Newbury we will definitely visit again.

Super food, friendly staff, tasty pies to take home. Just a wonderful, relaxed Sunday lunch in a lovely atmosphere. The whole family enjoyed their food including the roasts, pies and the sea bass, and the desserts were phenomenal!! Exactly what a great pub should be. We will be back soon!!

Really excellent Sunday lunch with an extensive menu and good range of vegetarian options, all in a very comfortable location. Clearly popular which is great to see from a village pub. Service superb.

Always a great atmosphere and such very informative and friendly staff. The service is always super and the food well to say exceptional would be an understatement. You do need to book early for their special events but they are great value and if you are a loyalty reward club member then you get a £10 reward voucher. Very highly recommended

We stopped by a short while back as We had been told about their amazing selection of hand made pies with locally sourced ingredients. We enjoyed it so much that we went again for Dizzy's birthday meal. Again great food, lovely staff and a very welcoming atmosphere. We will most definitely be returning soon.

We came here recently for dinner and were greeted warmly by Lauren. We ordered the fishcake, Stilton pate and smoked salmon salad. All were delicious. We then had the pie and lamb which were all tasty and wonderfully rich. We had some great red wines and local ales. The bill was very reasonable and we definitely recommend.

This is a lovely pub - well Worth the drive through twisty turny country lanes to get there. It was busy - lots of locals which is always a good sign. Really welcoming and friendly. Great menu choices - the chicken Kiev was fab… a far cry from boring breadcrumbed chicken fillets you often get!! All fresh and really tasty. Great drinks menu too and all reasonably priced. We’ve already booked our next visit!!

Excellent food and could not fault the service, I just wish I could have used the voucher they sent me for my birthday, on a Sunday!

Called last minute for a Sunday lunch, they were able to seat us at the 2nd sitting which was great! Food was delicious, cauliflower cheese was top notch. Only request would actually be a bit more vegetables and it would have been perfect ☺️ thanks a bunch.

My mum has limited mobility and the staff , Meg in particular, couldn’t have been more accommodating in helping me with parking and ramps . The Roast was well cooked and ample portions We all had a super visit and will come again .

Last Saturday, and with very little notice we needed to find a lovely pub in the countryside with great views and food to treat my mother in law. We rang The Fox early and left a message asking for a table for three and were quickly rang back by a delightful lady. She explained that although the pub was full, they would be able to fit is in if we didn’t mind a table in the shop area. We of course said yes and arrived early a couple of hours later, where we were treated to a warm welcome and invited to have a drink outside and admire the gorgeous views while our table was prepared. We were led into a delightful little nook which was cosy and quiet. The meals were delicious (home made pies all round!) and the staff courteous and very friendly. Overall, a fantastic experience that delivered everything we had been looking for!

A lovely country pub, we got a warm welcome from the minute we walked through the door. The menu was amazing and being gluten free I could not believe how many choices there were for me. The food did not disappoint it was presented beautifully and tasted delicious. The mini desserts were a definite hit! Great value for money and we will be back soon.

Great location, well out of the way so nice and quiet. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Food was unbelievably good. Can't wait to go again.

Drove out to this lovely pub today as had seen good reviews. Well it didn’t disappoint. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by a lovely lady who asked if we had booked , we said no but that wasn’t a problem. It’s an old pub but very well presented , lots of tables but not too close . Chose a lovely table in a corner with a quirky shop selling cards , prints notebooks local honey etc. menu had a good choice of food, average prices and when it arrived it was lovely and hot , well presented and tasted lovely . Will definitely be back

What a fantastic place, absolutely loved the Sunday roast that our whole party enjoyed. Puddings were amazing too. Lovely country pub in peaceful location. Great menu, spoilt for choice especially with the range of home pies. Between the four of us we sampled three different pies. All delicious! Highly recommended.

We came in for Mother’s Day and all had a lovely meal. I especially loved the chicken pie. The pastry was light and had a lot of filling in with a lot of flavour. Every course was delicious and good prices. Staff were very lovely, friendly and attentive.

We recently visited the Fox and could not fault the service we received. The staff were very attentive from start to finish. My husband enjoyed fish and chips with mushy peas and I the steak and ale pie, which was to die for! Full of meat, flavour and cased in beautiful pastry. The children had the kids pasta with a side of chunky chips followed by an ice cream which was included in the price. Great location for a family lunch, we will be back soon when the weather improves to also take advantage of the beautiful surroundings and children’s park close by.

A wonderfully comfortable public dining house with a warm open fire! We were welcomed for dinner: my Wife, son (4) and I. The staff were friendly and engaging. The food was excellent. We were tempted by hearty pie dishes and we were not disappointed! My son had fish goujons and is usually quite fussy but he wolfed the lot! Desserts were ample in size and full of flavour. Cost of meal was on point. Very happy and will definitely be going back soon.

Friendly staff however poor over all experience. Food quality poor, especially the burger - literally just a patty and one slice of tomato between two cheap white baps. Dry and tasteless. Highly recommend you add lettuce, cheese, mushroom and gherkin. Pies were tasteless and stodgy. Unfortunately still normal pub prices too despite poor quality. Decoration, cutlery and crockery very dated.

The best roast beef I've had out. Cooked perfectly rare - thank you! Outstanding service, comfortable chairs and setting. Well worth a visit but you will need to book!

Fox at Peasemore should be Fox at Piesmore. Absolutely delicious pies both savoury (Steak and Game) and sweet (apple). We had an anniversary lunch in December and lived the pies and chips. I assume Phil is making the pies, a master pie maker indeed.
