04/07/2020: Food was made to order meaning it was fresh, staff were helpful and friendly, lovely fish and chip shop.
04/07/2020: Clean and tidy!! Fantastic food and excellent service! Would recommend to friends. Good value for money. Hats off to Steven and young staff who served me. 👏🏻

City Centre, Edinburgh, City of

The Coddy Shack

Looe East, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, <20£
14/06/2020: Best fish n chips and curry sauce, amazing portion size and tastes really fresh and delicious. Thank you.
12/06/2020: Food here is fantastic and even under current circumstances, they still have a real good selection, staff are happy and friendly and service is good.

Caffe Atina

Chester City, Cheshire West and Chester, 20-30£
08/07/2020: Atina Kitchen have been providing local charities with meals to help feed Chester homeless during the last 3+ months so I was determined to support them once they re-opened. They have obviously had to alter their normal menu as these are not 'normal' times - Delicious starters of vegan wings and king prawns followed by mackerel and a rather delish onglet. So glad that they have taken the huge decision to re-open - its much appreciated. Service was friendly and helpful, and good to chat to people back in work
08/07/2020: Ariana have put so much thought into their opening. They’ve been respectful and careful but are still offering that same atmosphere and scrumpy good as always. Everyone’s nervous at the minute and this was our first trip out to a restaurant. We wanted something special. The menu was spot on and the service made us feel like we were in safe hands.

The Lodge

Eilean a' Chèo, Highland
29/03/2020: The food and service here are exceptional. Head and shoulders above anywhere else on the island, in the Highlands and probably Scotland. No surprise that it's won so many awards in such a short space of time. Thoughtful, creative and innovative use of top class local ingredients. This is not style over substance it is very much substance served with a great deal of style. The best meal of our entire trip and possibly the best for a number of years. You just have to go here.
18/03/2020: Excellent night from start to finish. Lovely building and decor, very friendly approachable staff, good choice of drinks with extra advice if needed. Food beautiful and the service provided spot on. I'm sure it won't be long until these guys get their first star!

Penceunant Isaf Tea Rooms

Llanberis, Gwynedd
22/03/2020: We went up to Snowdon on a cloudy day. On the way down it started raining and we we soaking wet by the time we arrived back at the bottom. But then we saw this cafe and where super happy we stopped. There is a fire place to warm up and the hosts including Stephen were just so kind and welcoming. It was a wonderful end to our hike and we could't imagine a better place to end it. Stephen also helped us with transport and offered some Birra Birth. Really lovely place so make sure you say hi to the gents!
20/03/2020: We stopped by for a cup of tea on our way down the Llanberis path from Snowdon - it had been high winds and snowy towards to top so we needed a warm up - and we got one! A really lovely, warm welcome, decent prices, and plenty of advice and recommendations on what we could go on to do in the area. It really was a very happy accident for us, wandering in!

McHalls Bistro

Claremont, Blackpool, <20£
07/05/2020: I thought I had said everything positive about McHall's that I ever could........until lockdown. The only thing that could top eating in the bistro was being able to have access to their lovely food and now we can.Friday, Saturday and Sunday they do a takeaway option and it's fab [no change there, then!]But don't take my word for it...........try it, I can be confident you won't like it, you'll love it.Keep it up Danny and Gav, can't wait to visit again.
12/04/2020: Take away Sunday lunch ! Well all the pluses of a mchall’s Sunday lunch but in my own home! With the current lockdown situation, Sunday’s wouldn’t be the same without Gavin’s sunday lunch. Social distancing, I collected our lunch time treats plus wine today. Got it home and tucked in. Absolutely fabulous as always, just without the hugs. Thanks Danny and Gavin. Top notch food as always. Xx

Mill Race Teashop

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
15/04/2020: We popped in here for a cream tea. I had a sweet one and my partner had a cheese one. They were both huge and excellent. The cafe is also dog friendly so which is great and Olly could sit next to the heater after being in the water. There is also an ice cream area and a small shop to buy local sweet treats.I would definitely recommend coming here.
21/03/2020: A very pleasant experience. Food, value & surroundings all excellent. But most of all the staff made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be returning once the coronavirus has passed. Many thanks.

Queen Victoria

Wickham Bishops and Woodham, Maldon
26/05/2020: Thank you to the Queen Victoria pub on Spital Road, Maldon, for providing top quality take away meals during lockdown! Some meals come with extra treats. For Easter, there were a couple of Easter eggs and for V E day, there was a lovely cream tea for two! It’s the small thing like that, that counts! top quality, great value!!
07/05/2020: I would like to thank the queen vic for the beautiful cream tea supplied to Lawrence place Maldon much appreciated in this lock down from all the uresidents

Clerkenwell, Islington, 20-30£
16/03/2020: 8 of us went here for my birthday lunch and was so impressed by the staff and the food. I'm a Coeliac and to be able to eat such delicious gluten free food (and it was AMAZING, especially the parmesan doughnuts!) is such a treat (ALL the food is GF). The 2 staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and attentive and even made my (somewhat wild!) 3 year old very welcome and also provided both children with colouring pencils and drawing sheets. In addition, they were SO careful with hygiene - welcoming us and offering us hand sanitiser on the way in and out (!) and being very careful with everything. This is the last time we will see my elderly parents because of the threat of C-19 and the whole experience cheered us up immensely on such a sombre day.
08/03/2020: Having passed this restaurant many times on my way too and from my Sadler’s Wells (just seconds walk away), I now know what I have been missing. - superb food and excellent warm friendly service. I ok forward to eating there again soon.

St Peter's Coffee Shop

Marlborough West, Wiltshire, <20£
13/03/2020: Our first time of visiting recommend by the friends who we were with. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will recommend to other people we will be back.
13/03/2020: I often visit the coffee shop in St Peter's church, they do a lot of food as well as many different coffees, teas, cold drinks etc. Everytime I have been the service has been impeccable, especially from one of the waitresses called Wendy, nothing is a problem, she always has a smile on her face, A1 member of the team. The majority of the staff are lovely, and very helpful, if only all coffee shops staff were the same. I heard a lady complain because there was no tables free, is this the fault of the staff or owners, what did she want, a table to be cleared just for her. A full coffee shop shows a very good coffee shop....surely, if it was empty, you would question why? I recommend this cafe to anyone, great selection of food and drinks including, cold food, sandwiches to hot dinners , smaller portions are available as well as, children's, gluten free, vegans and vegetarians. Most probably the best place to go to in Marlborough. Give it a try you won't be disappointed. A great big well done to Debbie and David the owners and all the staff.

Bens Crib Box Cafe

Padstow, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
03/06/2020: Bacon and egg bap plus a fantastic latte. Highly recommended with social distancing in place and such friendly service
23/05/2020: Hurrah, Ben's back! Just had a delicious toasty. Great to have a breakfast choice again! Thank you, Amy and Ben!

St Helena

Elstow, Bedford, 45-60£
15/03/2020: Two special birthdays, not been to this restaurant before but heard a lot about it.Plenty of parking., lovely garden and made to feel welcome as soon as we walked inside. Very good choice of menu, good service and food delicious. Could not fault it. Delightful slate with Happy Birthday on it in icing for the two of us having special birthdays. It was raining when we came to leave and the owner escorted us to the the car with a brolly so we did not get wet and presented us with a bottle of wine to enjoy when we got home. A really delightful experience, excellent food and very caring owner. We shall return.
12/03/2020: My wife and I went to celebrate our 16th engagement anniversary a few weeks ago. My wife was really looking forward to it because she remembered going as a child and how beautiful everything was. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations. The location is beautiful but the statues as you enter are a reflection of the slave trade of years passed, which I think is in very poor taste. I am not sure if they are aware of that though. It was a Friday night and was very busy with very little room to move between tables. Fortunately, we were put down the side part at the rear of the restaurant which meant it was very quiet and intimate. We felt the menu selection was dated compared to other restaurants at this price range but they did have the right amount of meal options. The wine menu was limited and it would have helped to give a brief description of the flavour of the wine so you could choose which would be best suited for your meal. The service however was excellent. The timing of each course perfect and I can't fault the presentation of each dish.Unfortunately, there was no 'wow factor' when it came to the taste of each dish and my wife had to leave the table urgently before finishing her coffee because she became poorly very quickly.Maybe our expectations were too high but the quality of the food didn't meet or expectations. Which was a real shame.

The Makars Rest

City Centre, Edinburgh, City of, 30-45£
01/05/2020: We saw the reviews and thought we would take a trip here during our short break in Edinburgh. The food was so good we ended up eating here 3 times in 5 days!We enjoyed everything we ordered and the service from Sasha, Kirstie and others was excellent. It's close to the royal mile and castle and definitely worth a visit for lunch or dinner.Next time I'm in Edinburgh I will certainly be eating there again, probably more than once.
30/04/2020: We stopped by for a late lunch and they were able to accommodate our group of 9. We enjoyed one of their chicken mashes and their haggis appetizer. They don't have a children's menu, but can make most of their mashes kid sized. It didn't work for our picky American kid, but great option if you don't have a picky eater.

Duncans Tearoom

Richmond West, Richmondshire, >100£
07/03/2020: We were delighted with this tearoom. We went on a Saturday so needed to reserve a table for lunchtime. There was a very good range of dishes and cakes, including many gluten-free and vegan options and also more traditional choices. We took our dog as the manager had explained they could comfortably accommodate 2 dogs at a time. The food was delicious, waitresses friendly and best of all ( ...for me, a tea-fan ) they had real loose leaf tea. Will always go to this tearoom if I am visiting Richmond.
07/03/2020: We stumbled across this tea room on a recent visit to Richmond. The service from start to finish from the young lady and young lad was first class. I went for the bacon & egg sandwich was absolutely lovely & the full English for the Mrs was spot on. The tea for two was more like tea for 6 but again was really good. If you are in Richmond please visit this place. We didn’t get chance but the cakes looked fantastic. Next time perhaps.
