Smokehouse Railway Street

Bishop Auckland Town, County Durham
27/08/2020: We went in for the third time yesterday and took advantage of the eat out scheme and got a fantastic 3 course meal and soft drink (you can buy alcohol) for £10. All of the food was delicious and the service was second to none. The restaurant has a lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The brownies that we took home to eat as we were so full from the first 2 courses were the best we have ever eaten. This is a must eat out place in Bishop Auckland. We will definitely be returning soon.
03/08/2020: This place is the best food I've eaten in a long time, it's so good!!!! Definitly the best smoked BBQ style food I've ever had. I took advantage of the deal with the gov scheme so I got all this for £10... Starter, main, 2 sides, dessert and soft drink! I had the burnt ends as a starter and boy where they good. Massive portion too. My partner has the belly pork which was also cooked to perfection. For main I had ribs which were very tasty with twice cooked chips (amazing again, proper good chips) and tasty corn on the cob. Mmm. I was so greedy I got a dessert too which was a blondie with ice cream! All the food was delicious and I couldn't fault it. The service was fantastic and they have a very friendly team. I can highly recommend this place and will definitely be making return visits. Seriously go get some food!

Nancarrow Farm

Ladock, St Clement and St Erme, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
19/08/2020: As Covid restrictions start to relax, Nancarrow Farm, amongst other things has started 'Farm Picnics' on certain Saturdays. On the recommendation of my brother and sister-in-law who visited in July, we went as part of our long weekend in Looe. We are so pleased we did.The menu varies for each date and is prepared using ingredients from the farm. We had brisket of beef donuts with two unusual salads - one warm and one cold. You also got a large bottle of soft drink to share and a pudding each. It has to be pre-booked and paid for in advance.Once on site, everything worked so smoothly. At our allotted time, my husband went and collected our picnic. Everything was in one crate. All the food was in cardboard containers so they could be recycled. You can also purchase additional soft drinks and, indeed, alcoholic drinks. The food was delicious. There was more than enough for the three of us - we were gutted to waste what we did! There was plenty of space around the site to find a location for your picnic, whether at one of the picnic tables or on the various grass areas on picnic blankets or your own chairs. There was even some live music to keep us entertained. The atmosphere was simply lovely - and we were blessed with gorgeous weather too. (There is plenty of undercover seating should you have rain!)Once finished, you are asked to clear your picnic away. There are recycling bins for cardboard, cans and food waste and bottles were left on the table to be recycled. The site itself was lovely to stroll around and there was a nature walk you could do if you were so inclined! It really was a lovely, unique experience and I would highly recommend it.
11/08/2020: we were in Cornwall for a week's break in July and, after finding some recommendations, booked supper at Nancarrow Farm one evening. It was surprisingly well organised and a much more sophisticated and pleasant evening than we had envisaged. The windy road and lack of signage made us anticipate a rather basic enterprise, but the farm has been carefully and tastefully adapted to provide indoor and outdoor dining, smart loos and pleasant grounds. As this was under lockdown constraints, we had to pre-order a meal which was delivered to our table (or, if wished, picnic blanket) and contained a generous lobster roll, some salad, and delicious lemon posset pudd with fresh sourdough bread and home made butter. The bar provided a good range of drinks and service was exemplary. Two lots of musicians played folky stuff while we ate and we would recommend this.

23/08/2020: So pleased to be able to visit regularly following the re-opening after covid-19 closures. Has always been a favourite restaurant and the quality remains excellent value. Have visited several times following lockdown and we feel very safe with all the changes made.

East India Cafe

Lansdown, Cheltenham, 30-45£
30/08/2020: Have been twice now - once for a lunch menu, and once for the evening tasting menu. Lunch menu is great value - you get so many little extras along the way which you don’t expect with a lunch menu. Would’ve happily paid more. The tasting menu is such an experience. Full of flavour, and perfectly timed. The gins are lovely - they are ones you don’t get on usual gin menus so it’s hard to pick! Presentation of both the gins and food is beautiful :) And to top it off the staff are so friendly. Will happily bring you extra rice and bread at no extra cost. Can’t wait to come back!
23/08/2020: Having eaten at the restaurant a while back I was super pleased to see they now do takeaway. The takeaway food did not disappoint, everything was excellent with a wide range of flavours and carefully sent so sauces and extras separate. An absolute delight.

Windsor Grill

Castle Without, Windsor and Maidenhead, 45-60£
26/08/2020: We travelled to Windsor for my birthday celebration and chose the Windsor Grill for a special meal after reading the fantastic reviews. Well I must say we were not disappointed ... As we entered the restaurant the staff checked our temperature and were all wearing masks. The tables were also socially distanced. The food was amazing, actually probably the best steak I have had and the triple cooked duck fat chips, wow, they are to die for! The staff were so attentive and even in these strange times, they made us feel valued, welcome and most importantly, safe! Thank you for a wonderful birthday meal...WE WILL BE BACK!
26/08/2020: Excellent from start to finish - from the booking, through arrival, dining and leaving ........ great experience, great food, great service.

Shandiz Restaurant

Millfield, Sunderland
27/08/2020: Family meal Food always freshly made - their homemade bread is yummy Starters are beautiful here - mains tasty Missed having the complimentary lentil soup - hopefully that comes back Easy going casual atmosphere
25/08/2020: Visited Shandiz for lunch by myself today having read the very good reviews on trip advisor. I found the staff to be very polite and helpful. I decided on having the mixed grill for one which was very good. The 3 meat skewers were all cooked perfectly and the meat was juicy and flavoursome. I was given the choices of salad, potatoes or rice as my side dish and I opted for the salad which was nice and fresh. Staff also packed my leftovers for me which I took home for eating later! Very positive experience of Persian cuisine and highly recommend to others to try. Wish Shandiz team the best of luck in these current difficult and unpredictable times.

Saint Smokeys Bbq House

Westgate, Canterbury
02/09/2020: Popped in after visiting the cathedral, I had a 1/2 chicken with chips and coleslaw in hot sauce. Really gorgeous meal, the chips were spot on, lovely home made coleslaw and great quality chicken. The hot sauce could have been a bit spicier, I’d definitely have the extra hot next time. My wife had the stew chicken which was devine!
29/08/2020: Food is great! Amazing quality chicken and very filling! The staff and service was good! They really look after you! Would highly recommend if you are visiting Canterbury!

Istanbul BBQ

Chester City, Cheshire West and Chester
27/08/2020: The food was delicious and the service very attentive. The restaurant has a really good feel and a great buzz. Would definitely have been a 5 star if we hadn't had to wait half an hour for our rebooked table.
27/08/2020: Due to covid and my lack of forethought, I didn't think about booking somewhere to eat on my visit to Chester. Nearly everywhere was booked up but I found the Istanbul BBQ on TripAdvisor and managed to get a table. Wasn't looking for this type of food but I'm so glad we found it the food and service was great thinking about going back tomorrow if I can get in. Yum.

Portishead Central, North Somerset
29/08/2020: We went for dinner at this lovely Spanish restaurant and enjoyed tapas, paella and sangria. All served by lovely, friendly, professional staff. The food was delicious and the covid measures they had in place made you feel safe and comfortable. Would definitely recommend it.
28/08/2020: Another fantastic evening and well looked after by the Venga team. Pornstar Martini’s are to die for 👍
