Hinnies Restaurant

Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, 20-30£
13/02/2021: Just had a takeaway Valentine's meal and it was gorgeous, all we had to do was reheat and it was just lovely. Thanks Hinnies
31/01/2021: We had a 3 course meal delivered for my birthday courtesy of my grandchildren. It was absolutely delicious. Can thoroughly recommend them. The slow cooked beef cheek was especially good just melted in your mouth .Very generous portions too.

OakTree Vegetarian Bistro

Chalkwell, Southend-on-Sea, <20£
14/02/2021: One of the places I miss most during these enforced lockdowns. Always have new dishes to try, a decent selection of wine/beer and friendly staff, I'm not a full time Vegan but have never been less than satisfied with the food served here. Keep it u guys 👍
15/01/2021: Great place. Highly recommend it. The food was fresh and varied and the deccor was nice.

The Mayor's Cafe

Poplar, Nuneaton and Bedworth
19/11/2020: As it says, if you love quiche, you have to try this. Amazing. Normally quiche doesn’t exactly inspire your menu choice, this however was a game changer.
22/10/2020: Having eaten here twice now (today being the latest, with my daughter-in-law and young grandaughter), both times the food, service & value for money have been exemplary - we are so lucky to have such a lovely cafe to eat & drink within Miners Welfare Park, Bedworth. This place is a real gem and if you haven't tried it yet, do........the meal of the day is published for the whole week in advance but of course you can have whatever you like from the menu. It is a wholly vegetarian menu but never have veggy meals tasted so good, with the majority of ingredients being home grown on site and picked on the day.The chef and staff are always very friendly and nothing is too much trouble, which makes for such an enjoyable experience.........note to self.......must visit more often! So......well done to all the staff, especially the head chef who obviously take a real pride in providing quality, enjoyable food and long may the cafe continue to thrive.PS: children's meals are free (not sure up to what age) but this is an added bonus if you visit with young children. Also, it felt very COVID19 safe, as much as it can be.

Quince & Medlar

All Saints, Allerdale, >100£
25/10/2020: A real treat to dine at the Quince and Medlar last night, the food and the service were faultless, I particularly enjoyed the main course - this has to be one of the nicest things I have eaten. Thank you for w lovely evening. I would defiantly recommend the restaurant.

The Good Earth

Wells Central, Mendip
10/10/2020: The restaurant is coping very well with the covid restrictions eccentricities. Good prompt and friendly service. Lovely food, and generous portions - we eat here whenever we come to Wells for the day-we will be back!
04/10/2020: Super top notch home cooked vegetarian food that is well seasoned and very tasty. we had the baked potato, salads (tasty not bland), tart etc, Highly recommended and very homely interior with plenty of space in the various rooms to find a table.

Cafe Roya

Beeston North, Broxtowe
17/09/2020: We went to celebrate our daughter's promotion. It was the best vegetarian meal that I have had and among the best meals of any kind that I have eaten. Everything was tasty and well-presented and it is a nice change to have pea shoots, instead of rocket. I didn't recognise the brand of cider, but I enjoyed that too. Go there for a treat/celebration.
11/09/2020: The lunch we had this week was happy food. It looked a delight and tasted even better I shall be back yum

St David's, Exeter, >100£
02/01/2021: I have been to Herbies several times over the years. It is a cosy environment, the staff are always friendly and it's great to have several really tasty vegetarian or vegan options to choose from.
07/12/2020: I love this cafe! They do great and healthy food, for both vegetarians and vegans. Even some non-vegans could enjoy their food, too. Please never be put off of eating vegan food, even if you’re not vegan. Please open up and consider going vegan, for the animals, your health and the planet. I love Herbie’s. One of my favourites on their menu is one of the Buddha Bowls. Excellent and extremely healthy. I also love the wonderful flapjacks when they are warmed up! I kind of know one of the ladies in there. Herbie’s also used to have charity pots for animals and people, which is another plus. The only downside is that they are not a wholly vegan place. They are a wonderful cafe with nice and helpful people, who serve great food...

Seeds 2

Totnes Town, South Hams
25/12/2020: visited under social distancing and enjoyed it- what good food all freshly prepared. Good to have decent coffee. I noticed the high number of takeaways by market stallholders, always a good sign
09/12/2020: Friendly welcome, rustic but clean - good choice of vegetarian dishes (some hot: noodles, dahl, macaroni cheese) and a variety of salads, olives, dolmades - as many as you like. Buffet-style but generous portions served by the staff because of current restrictions. Fixed charge - £10 - welcome to go back for seconds (can't imagine anyone needing thirds!). Cakes and drinks extra. I particularly liked the dahl and the noodles and the focaccia bread. Nothing I didn't like (I didn't try the macaroni cheese because I know I don't like that).A good experience - even for convinced carnivores!

Zoo Cafe

Newland, Kingston upon Hull, City of
20/10/2020: I’ve visited zoo many times since the current owners took over a few years ago and I have to say I have always been warmly welcomed, eaten delicious, fresh and interesting food and have enjoyed the lovely surroundings that have clearly had a lot of thought and effort put into making it a nice place to be. I visited today for breakfast and had the most delicious Brie and fresh fig toasted panini with a side of their usual fresh and tasty salad. The staff were still their friendly selves even with the current restrictions, hand sanitiser, social distancing and track and trace firmly in place, but not taking away from the lovely relaxed atmosphere! Thanks for my ace brunch! Xx
13/10/2020: Visited here on Tuesday lunch and wasn’t expecting it to be quite so busy. We had a little wait for a table but could have sat outside if the weather had been better. Very quirky place with a lovely vibe. My 2 daughters are vegan so we choose here as read the good reviews and they have been before but I’m not vegan yet the choice was still great. I had the quiche- huge slice with slaw, grains salad and crisps. Absolutely gorgeous. The others all had a variation of breakfasts and were all really pleased. The service was great in fact nothing negative at all to say. Well done owners, chefs and staff. Keep up the good work. A hidden gem

Greens Restaurant - Didsbury

Didsbury West, Manchester, 20-30£
11/12/2020: Biggest reason for this score is because we just moved into the area and wanted to look for somewhere to have a drink and maybe eat, approached this place only to be told if we are not eating then we are not welcome in? Now if we sat down and had a drink we would of almost definitely eaten, we were taken back a little as there is so much competition. Don't let this put you off I'm sure it's a nice place but first impressions count and they certainly made a first impression on us.
14/11/2020: Called by today to pick up some food to takeaway for lunch. My partner and I both chose a wrap and chips. The wraps were so tasty and packed full of flavour. It felt like such a treat to have an amazing vegetarian wrap that was different and not something I would make at home. The chips were incredible too! The man who served us was so friendly and both my partner and I commented on how great the service was- definitely made us want to keep coming back.

West End, City of London,Westminster
09/12/2020: Had such a lovely time here. They managed to fit us in as we hadn’t booked. Food was absolutely delicious and the choice was great. All staff were friendly helpful and super cool.
07/12/2020: Just had a meal here with a friend and would highly recommend. Every server was so happy and friendly especially Kate, who gave us recommendations and was very accommodating to our every request. Food was great.

Norman, Ashford
20/10/2020: First time after lockdown, food was amazing. Waitress Lena was beyond helpful and quick with our orders and drinks. Couldn’t thank her more. Definitely recommend and fairly priced.
19/10/2020: love the food here. it is always on point. service is great. staff are all lovely and friendly. very clean and well organised. incredibly busy but worth the wait.

The Waiting Room

Eaglescliffe, Stockton-on-Tees
08/02/2021: Thank goodness that this place opened for takeaways during the pandemic lockdowns. The food is just excellent, great value and a real treat.
31/12/2020: Although a fervent Omnivore, if I could consistently cook my own food to this standard I’d be a vegetarian! Had a New Years Eve take-out (having only eaten in the restaurant a couple of times previously) and was hugely impressed. Mushroom Bourguinon was rich and savoury; Aubergine and Cashew plait was exquisite and sides (roasted root vegetables; hummus) and deserts just perfect. I really cannot recommend this place highly enough. Can’t wait for it to re-open properly!

The Gate Hammersmith

Hammersmith Broadway, Hammersmith and Fulham, 45-60£

Koriander Indian Takeaway

Tutbury and Outwoods, East Staffordshire
13/02/2021: We have been regular customers at Koriander for the past year. See my previous reviews... everything has always been excellent in the past. But last time the manuka chicken was "watery", and this time the food had not arrived 30mins after the confirmed time from Just Eat, so I called. The guy went off and when he returned he said "we're just cooking your chips". I hadn't ordered any chips! So he went off again and then said they were just packing our meal for delivery. When it arrived, now a total of 45mins late, including time taken talking on the phone, the sauce for the biryani was missing so I called again. 15mins later it arrived, but was horrible. Like a sauce made from supermarket curry powder with some veg in it. Bland. Yuk.What is also weird is the way certain items are "unavailable" on the menu. Cheese nan is available, Garlic nan is available, Cheese and Garlic marked as unavailable. Balti and jalfrezi are available, Madras unavailable. Looks like we may be looking for a different Indian takeaway .
17/12/2020: We have eaten regularly from Koriander. It was always good.Having not had a curry for a couple of months, we really fancied on tonight. Manuka Chicken Tikka and Lamb Balti, plus usual accompaniments. Food was absolutely beautiful, delivered by a friendly, polite driver, bang on time. Surprising really considering the road between Koriander and us is closed... so the driver had a 4 mile detour. Food was still hot and tasty and still seemed really fresh. I think it is the quality of the ingredients and the skill if the chef. Continues to be our favourite supplier of top-quality Indian food.
