Quince & Medlar

All Saints, Allerdale, >100£
04/03/2020: My friend is a recent vegan and I'm a long suffering coeliac. So finding a gold restaurant that caters for us both was a win!The lovely owner visited us at the door with a warm smile and instantly made us feel very welcome.Gorgeous food (we had the special taster menu)Nothing appeared to be too much trouble. One thing I felt was that the menu may have been slightly unbalanced, as the dessert was huge compared to the two courses prior to it. I kicked myself for not having cheese and biscuits. Perhaps that's just me preferring savoury dishes.Unusually for me I forgot to take pictures. Trust me when I say, that the food was definitely picture worthy. It was stunning.Definitely worth adding to your lists of places to visit in Cockermouth. The Quince and Medlar is now on my 'regular' list.
01/03/2020: Travelled from County Durham specifically to return to the Quince and Medlar for their tasting menu on Friday 28th February. We were not disappointed. Each of the nine dishes presented was a delight both in taste and appearance. The ambience of the restaurant is lovely and the service was excellent and unhurried.Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Good vegetarian restaurants are few and far between, but this one is excellent (and this coming from a meat eater - my wife is vegetarian).

The HiVe Cafe

Melcombe Regis, Weymouth and Portland
03/04/2020: This was our last eatery to visit before we sadly left the area for home. Friendly, accomodating staff. Good range of food choices. Left happy with full tummies before the long drive home.
09/03/2020: Atmosphere great a really good selection of food. Lovely view looking over the sea. Very peaceful. Staff very friendly and helpful. Really enjoy eating here.

Zoo Cafe

Newland, Kingston upon Hull, City of
24/02/2020: We had a wonderful breakfast at Zoo on a rainy windy Thursday morning. The cosy bright atmosphere was welcome as well as the cheerful friendly staff who were fully knowledgeable on gluten free choices. I had the advices do tomatoes feta cheese on toast which was amazing and my gluten free friend had a full English breakfast! Will definitely return again and again and again!!!!
23/02/2020: Have just eaten here as a family group of four. I struggled to choose what to have because everything on the menu sounded so attractive. We all chose something different and I could happily have eaten anyone's choice. The food was so colourful and completely delicious, I wished I lived nearer - I would visit often. There's a laid back vibe to the place, with charming and friendly staff. If you enjoy vegetarian food, prepared with love, then try it here, you will not be disappointed.

Ilminster, South Somerset
29/02/2020: Unfortunately, we waited nearly an hour for lunch, not that this place was exactly buzzing at 12.30pm when we arrived, being a party of 4. We had travelled from London and was really looking forward to lunch and having a new experience. The Thai-style noodle dish that I ordered off the menu was truly awful, just an amalgamation of ingredients which neither complimented one another or was particularly well thought out. Sadly, it was not particularly hot. The mange tout was sadly over-cooked and the noodles just a stringy horrible tangled mess at the bottom of the soup bowl which were somehow, difficult to access from the other 'forced in' ingredients, the small side salad on the plate was neither seasoned nor had any vinaigrette dressing to counter-balance the dryness of the quinoa. Perhaps, I was hoping for a more elegant dish. A re-think on this particularly dish is most certainly needed. Suffice to say my fellow diners found their choices more satisfactory.
28/02/2020: Had lunch here today; what a wonderful experience. The place is a bit quirky, in a good way, staff were really friendly and the food was outstanding. I had the quesadillas and they really were fantastic. I'm not vegetarian but if all vegetarian food tasted this good, I soon would be. I will definitely be back....possibly tomorrow!

The Green Almond

Meads, Eastbourne, 20-30£
19/06/2020: After 3 months of been deprived of Green Almond food tonight was a real treat. This afternoon Carmen delivered the Cottage Pies which Andrew made in morning and we enjoyed a truly delicious dinner this evening. We will certainly be ordering regular take-a ways from now on. Thank you so much Carmen and Andrew.
05/06/2020: One of the best takeaways my husband and I have had since lockdown. The soup and salad box were both amazing! I would nearly get this every day, it was all fresh, healthy and tasty. So glad they are open.

OakTree Vegetarian Bistro

Chalkwell, Southend-on-Sea, <20£
03/04/2020: Absolutely great experience every time I go to the oak tree. Amazing food, great menus, love that they bring in new options for each season. Also love the live music. And the service is always lovely. 10/10, best vegan restaurant imo.
29/03/2020: absolutely excellent food and service as always perfect, can't wait for this dreadful virus is all over and done with and this lock-down is over so we can come back

Seeds 2

Totnes Town, South Hams
13/04/2020: Seeds was recommended to me during a recent visit to Totnes so I thought it would be a good place to visit for lunch with my vegetarian friend. The food was excellent quality and there was plenty of it. You can expect to share your table when it gets busier so bear that in mind if you’re looking for a more intimate dining experience.
11/03/2020: Really good quality, healthy salads - but don't go because i don't want too many people to know about this place !

St David's, Exeter, >100£
13/03/2020: Went her with my wife for lunch and it was lovely! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and tasty food. Good selection for vegans. What more do you want?
21/02/2020: Lovely atmosphere and service, with really comforting, filling and delicious vegetarian and vegan food.

Cafe Roya

Beeston North, Broxtowe
12/06/2020: Delicious food. Good value. Best takeaway we've had during the Covid crisis. Makes us want to go when it reopens as a restaurant.
31/05/2020: We enjoy the brilliant food at Cafe Roya, and were glad to see that they’re now offering a takeaway menu. We don’t live in Beeston, but happy to cross the city to check it out.We ordered by phone and arranged date and time to pick up. Easy and well organised. We ordered potato balls with a chilli hot sauce for starters and main dishes - paella; Persian sabzi with seitan side; and goat cheese tart with salads. All delicious and well presented in bio-degradable dishes. Also, chocolate brownie, flapjack and cheese board, including vegan boursin. Picked up a jar of dukkah whilst there. Dishes were variously vegan or gluten free on request. We agreed that the standard of food is as good as always, although nothing can replace the (now) luxury of the restaurant experience! This was a real lockdown gastronomic treat. The menu changes monthly and we’re looking forward to our next takeaway. Thanks to all at Cafe Roya for offering such a great service.

The Good Earth

Wells Central, Mendip
18/04/2020: The food is home cooked, wholesome and tastes amazing! The atmosphere is lovely and there are great vegan options.
14/03/2020: An excellent cafe for delicious veggie food with scrumptious cakes and friendly staff. All the food is made in the cafe. It's a reliable place if you want good food. Very popular with locals and visitors.

Hinnies Restaurant

Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, 20-30£
06/03/2020: (Traducido por Google) Exquisito, la comida era deliciosa y con muy buena presentación. El servicio fue perfecto. Para ser sincero, también era bastante asequible. (Original) Exquisite, the food was delictable and with very fine presentation. The service was flawless. To be honest it was quite affordable as well.
(Original) I had the “Beltas breakfast” Was as it said beltas - in fact I would say it was purely beltas ! the best breakfast I have had this year and will be hard to beat - I even snapped a photo which Is unlike me - staff seemed a little stressed and it was a Sunday to give them their dues no one should have to work Sundays all the time. But a great venue thanks for a great morning.

Poppo Goblin

Shaftesbury, Belfast
21/02/2020: Popped in for breakfast. The food was all freshly prepared and the service was excellent. Cannot fault it at all.
29/08/2019: Called in for a quick lunch when we arrived to the Premier Inn next door. SO impressed with the menu which included a number of original and vegetarian options but the stand out feature is the staff, particularly the lady who served us - such a warm welcome, helpful and a credit to the place. Needless to say, we went back for breakfast and will do so again tomorrow. A delight to find this place and highly recommended.

Harbour House Cafe

Westville and Alvington, South Hams
19/02/2020: Wonderful homely feeling cafe. Nice location down by the water. We stumbled across this place in our first visit to Kingsbridge. The gallery below the cafe was packed full of local art. Great! Also had information about various yoga / martial arts classes. Food was wonderful. I had the hot caponata bowl with soft almond bread focaccia. Full of flavour. The side salads were also delicious. Really decent oak milk cortado too.
22/10/2019: We had a week in lovely Kingsbridge at the end of September but unfortunately it rained most days! We loved the town and the people but the rain limited what we could do.One highlight though, was lunch at the Harbour House Cafe. Its a lovely relaxing, zen like place and was a welcome oasis on a cold, wet day.We had a frittata and salad and it was delicious-fresh and tasty. The staff were great-friendly, efficient and welcoming. Would certainly return when I visit Kingsbridge again.

The Mayor's Cafe

Poplar, Nuneaton and Bedworth
15/03/2020: Just called in to The Mayors Cafe to try their new Veggie/Vegan Sunday Brunch. Wow what can I say it’s absolutely amazing, slight wait but worth it as everything is cooked fresh. Forgot the traditional roast, call in here and fill up on this
04/03/2020: Fabulous staff, fabulous food and fabulous surroundings! I'd reccomend to anyone looking for something unique

The Waiting Room

Eaglescliffe, Stockton-on-Tees
06/06/2020: After having visited this great restaurant several times in the past, I was pleased to hear that they were doing take away food during lockdown. The enchiladas were amazing as were the two starters and the superb sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Excellent value for money. Ordering from the website was super easy. I was later called to be offered a collection time. There was a slight delay as the restaurant was having a busy night. The food was well packed for transit. Thanks so much Waiting Room staff.
25/04/2020: Been having a takeout of various quality since lockdown but decided on waiting room for this weekend. Been a few times never disappointed but did worry what the food would be like as a takeout. We were hugely impressed with the service and quality. Love love love the enchiladas and the lasagne was damn fine too. Highly recommend in these time’s, support local! Can’t wait to visit again in person!
