The HiVe Cafe in Weymouth and Portland

This is one of the most amazing places to eat in Dorset. Fantastic food, great owners a true, fabulous gem of home cooked foods. The cakes are fantastic.

This is our new "favourite" place to eat in Weymouth. We sat in the beautiful courtyard garden and enjoyed our Falafel platter, Hummus platter and quiche and salads. All were beautifully presented and delicious. The homemade Dorset Apple cake was the best I have had!! Would definitely recommend (even if you are not Vegetarian/vegan!). Thank you x

Great place to enjoy tasty food. Greeted by friendly staff who made us feel welcomed. Sat in beautiful garden eating our delicious cakes, which we were offered to try before we decided what we would like to eat. Will definitely return for a meal, all the choices smelt and looked great. Loved the music too! Thank you

Simply wonderful lunch and cake to die for! Delicious! We had falafel and Mediterranean slice lunch platters and a jacket potato, lovely fresh salads and great hummus on the side too. Highly recommended.

A really dog friendly place (which is important) alongside with some really nice plates ! We enjoyed the falafels and the halloumi salad !

Lovely veg cafe. We stopped in for a slightly late lunch, not realising how small it was had we come earlier we wouldn't have got a seat indoors but on dry days there is a small courtyard with tables. We managed to miss the specials board but the humous platter and baked potato we both had were tasty. The vegan strawberry cheesecake was also really really good! Lovely staff (who I presume are the owners) and sell their own happy bee honey which I bought a jar of (I only buy honey occasionally when I know what the bee care is like as sadly some bee farmers/big companies are very abusive) and you can read about the bees on one of their boards.

It was lovely to find a place to eat in Weymouth that didn't involve batter, burgers or a deep fat fryer. We had the falafel platter and foragers lunch - delicious! We even made space for a slice of pistachio and rose cake, well worth it! The service is relaxed and friendly. I think the prices are exactly right, great ingredients and clearly made in house. Definitely worth a visit if good food and quirky vibes is your thing.

My husband and I went to Weymouth to catch up with an old school friend of mine… we rented the flat above the Hive café…I was very impressed by the layout of the flat. The food in the café was absolutely divine. Rachel makes the best quiches I’ve ever tasted and Simon, well what can I say about his cakes…. Exquisite..

Sorry haven’t posted this earlier! We booked a table for lunch back in early August, outside in the lovely patio, 5 of us. The cafe had been recommended to us by my sister and it was fabulous! We had the halloumi salad, quiche and deli selection followed by apple cake, eton mess and baked cheesecake, it was all so delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were great, helpful and so funny! A lovely friendly atmosphere. We took some cakes away and a jar of their honey. We would recommend the Hive cafe to everyone, a real gem 💎 Thankyou!

How did we not know about this place? Some of the most fantastic food we have eaten. We went two days in a row it was that good. Fabulous homemade food. Simply delicious. Beautiful ingredients turned into gorgeous recipes. We cannot recommend enough. We would eat here every day if we could. We took mum for her birthday and she loved it. Then hubby and I the next day. Lovely family run business. Just brilliant. We will definitely be back. Our new favourite place to eat. Five stars isn’t enough.

Lovely, cosy café, just off the main promenade. Their cakes were amazing, and many GF and vegan options available. Super friendly, swift service. I wish I had had one of their lunch dishes too as they looked super fresh and tasty.

The food was lovely. Our visit was on the recommendation of friends who had enjoyed lunch there on a previous visit to Weymouth. The halloumi, pear and walnut salad (pictured) was very flavourful. The garden space is pretty, although very small. The inside space is nicely decorated, and the story of their own honey production on the wall adds to the charm of the cafe and gives the food a lovely story. On the downside however, while the food on the menu is prominently displayed, trying to suss out what the drinks options were was not as easy. While the food was nice, a lot of the options were quite expensive for what they were, although this is somewhat understandable as it is a small business so markups are going to have to be greater. What did let them down however was the quality of the service. We did attend on a fairly busy day and so that is likely a big part of the reason why, but the service took a very long time. Two members of our group ordered a slice of cake after their main and it took around half an hour to receive them, as the staff member who took the order unfortunately had forgotten about them in the process of taking out orders to other tables. We actually ended up not having enough time for our afternoon plans as a result of this. For that reason I probably would choose to try elsewhere unless it were a very quiet day and I knew they weren't going to be overburdened with the amount of customers requiring service. I'd love to have the food again, but I hope the poor staff in the future have a bit of an easier time of it as clearly it's difficult to manage when busy

Delicious middle Eastern / Mediterranean food that is really well presented!

Walked 8 miles along the South West Coastal Path looking forward to a breakfast here and the place did not disappoint. Lovely location, with a very relaxing atmosphere in the garden. Very friendly staff and great vegan options on the menu. The tofu scrambled egg was lovely. Would visit again next time I visit Weymouth.

We found this gem after looking for somewhere that offered Vegan food during our trip to Weymouth. The food was absolutely lovely (and we’ll portioned) and the naughty treat that we took away (slice of Brownie) was to die for - we’ll be coming back.

Very friendly cafe with loads of fresh, colourful and vibrant food on offer. Dog, child and vegan friendly. Staff made us very welcome on arrival and went out of their way to cater for every dietary need. Excellent. Will definitely visit again.

After reading the review, decided to go to the Hive Cafe during our short stay in Dorset. We throughly enjoyed our lunch. We ordered different dishes and cakes. The food was so tasty and fresh. Really nice independent cafe with a peaceful vibe about it. We will be visiting again on our next trip for sure.

Friendly service excellent food very tasty jacket potato light and fluffy, the salid tigles your tastes buds with the different tastes and sauces had the pepper quiche mmmm will definitely go back for more.

Best food in Weymouth. We travel for almost an hour just to eat there. Great tasty home cooked food , made & served by lovely people. Superb cakes ..almost toomuch choice we could have one of each no problem.

Had a fabulous cream tea takeaway from here on Friday, and was blown away by the quality of the food. Two enormous scones with plenty of cream, butter and jam. It filled our bellies nicely for a long drive home. Next time, we'd love to sit in and sample the rest of the menu. Thank you.

I had a lovely takeaway today- a really nice asparagus and pepper quiche & side salads. Everything was fresh and flavourful. The puddings / baked goods looked really nice as well. Very friendly and efficient service to top it all off!

We visited the Hive as it served well complemented vegan and vegetarian food. We were definitely not disappointed!! The place is cute, pretty, easy to find and warm and cosy. The staff was super efficient, extremely friendly, professional and accommodating. The food was fabulous. It looked fantastic and tasted great. Fresh, local produce prepared and served in a beautifully artistic stylish way, giving gourmet meal to the eyes before it even made it to our mouths. I couldn't resist a slice of the delicious looking cheesecake on display and my mother in law was excited to try the Dorset apple cake. Again, we weren't disappointed!! Absolutely delicious!!! We will definitely be coming in again for food on future trips to Weymouth.

Absolutely loved this little gem. The food was Delicious and the lovely ladies so friendly and helpful. Its very hard to find places the meet my husbands dietary requirements. Not only did the Hive meet them but they smashed it out the park, the look on my husbands face when he was told he cold have the vegan cheese cake, priceless. Thank you ladies a return visit is a must ! ❤💜❤

We visited here as we didn't want fish and chips for lunch but had seen such good reviews. They were right; this place is just lovely! We sat outside in the cozy courtyard enjoying the sunshine - our food was beautiful, we had a plate with so many different things on we lost count! On seeing the desserts we couldn't resist and they were equally as tasty. The owners were so friendly too. Next time we're in the area we won't hesitate to return!

Found this hidden gem. Had lovely Vegan food, falafel, jacket potato with vegan cheese and coleslaw. Yvonne was lovely and helpful and looked after us. Also Vegan pudding, a choice of two different cheesecakes or a chocolate cake. We sat in the garden. Will definitely be returning.

We had a wonderful lunch here today. Such vibrant, colourful and fresh food on offer. Even our toddler gobbled up the falafel and salad which was a surprise to us! Lovely cafe and very nice staff.

Glad the hive is open again and is really busy with many regulars returning. Fab food as always and now do afternoon teas too. Will be trying one of these soon. The food is freshly cooked and homemade cakes are delish.

We came to the Hive Cafe after it was recommended to us by a family member before lockdown. When walked to the cafe it seemed very busy. Advised it was outdoor seating but what we actually found was a handful of outdoor seats and a lot of marquee/enclosed gazebo seating. The cafe had placed seating/picnic bench outside the main door one way system and people sat there with no masks on. They were unavoidable because this was the only way in! So couldn’t socially distance. The staff did not wear masks!! They were going from table to table serving customers and not washing their hands between them. It was shocking! The cafe said they were adhering to COVID precaution guidelines but this seemed to be a tick box exercise. We decided to go for take away to avoid this awful situation.Their menu is massively over priced - £18 for a large fish and chips which was no bigger than the kids portion of fish and chips and this was greatly over priced too!! The food was tasty but not worth the money or the risk.Never eat here again!

I had a vegetarian sausage plait roast dinner. It was lovely. I thoroughly recommend this cafe. If you want to visit for a roast dinner on a sunday I think you need to book. My friend had the cauliflower cheese which was gluten free and she said it was lovely.
