The Green Almond in Eastbourne

I have recently decided to try Veganism but like most Vegans I don't like to talk about it ;-) Looking for Vegan food of high quality in Eastbourne, is fairly difficult. A few restaurants offer "vegan options" but that usually means taking the ham or chicken out of something and hoping that will do. Not acceptable these days. So we tried Green Bros. It's hidden away from the centre of town but not really that far, behind the Grand Hotel. The guys here are very passionate about their food and also friendly and knowledgeable. They will even tell you how they make things if they have time. The food was great and the wine, reasonable. If you are unsure about the Vegan thing...have the Doner Kebab. It's epic! (And fully Vegan...tell everyone!)

Visited last night with my family to celebrate my birthday and must congratulate you on your excellent menu choices and ambience! Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and we thought the food was delicious and so well presented. It was really nice to be able to choose anything off a menu without having to check if it was vegan or not. 2 x vegetarians and 1 x ‘not’ thought we’d try Green Bros this evening. The reviews I read were all good for food some just “ok” for service. Well 3 different meals, the veggie doner (for the non veggie), the coconut dhal, the red lentil curry. All were excellent! Really tasty, good portion sizes and well presented. We tried a bit of each other’s and all agreed how good each was. Desserts were good too. New York cheesecake and salted caramel cheesecake. As for service, it was great. Not fussy simply amiable and polite, smiling and attentive. We were served by four servers and all were really nice. And the bill? Reasonably priced, but if you consider the quality of the food, good service and pleasant ambiance it’s certainly worth every penny. We’ll definitely be going back and in the meantime spreading the word! Well done and thank you Green Bros.

Our first visit today. For starters we both had the mushroom pate with walnut. Delicious!! For mains I had the kebab wrap & my partner had the sweet n sour Hong Kong style . Both really good. !! Thoroughly enjoyed it all! Fab! We also ordered the ramen bowl to take away. The Ramen bowl however was disappointing.. thought it was of very poor value. Not much in it and expensive for what it was..very watery & no substance .. £70 overall bill . didn’t pay service charge as another £8 ..

Lovely food, unique and relaxing setting. No rush for us to order or finish. Helpful service who were happy to chat at the end of the night. Chef also came out and checked if everything was alright- it was! I thought I may have needed snacks when I got home but definitely not I couldn't manage the meal (kebab). All our meals looked and tasted delicious. Will definitely go back and try the take away menu.

Visited on Friday 23rd September with a friend. We called to say we were going to be 20 minutes late, they said it was not a problem but would need the table back at 7:45. Ordered our drinks and I asked for a vanilla milkshake, which arrived and I’m pretty certain was actually a banana milkshake but never mind it tasted good. The waiter came over 3 times and we did feel slightly rushed to order. Food came out and was good portion sizes. I had the bean burrito wrap, it was little bit heavy for my liking but was impressed to see it looked like the wraps were homemade. Overall not bad and my friend said hers was average. At 7:30 a big booking came in and I was asked to move and sit the other side of the table and the chair my bag was on, was also taken. Then another booking arrived, and the chef pointed and said, that will be your table in a minute. It was only 7:30 so still had 15 minutes so all felt very rushed. I found it very awkward when asked to move and also rude. Yes we were late but we still had 15 minutes and we’re expected to pay immediately after getting the bill, when we wanted a bit longer. Won’t be back due to customer service skills and generally no real warmth to the place.

We have been here many times before - great food as usual but the waiter appeared as if he did not want to be there. Very poor customer service skills. Would have been nice if he had at least thanked us for the tip we left, despite how miserable he came across

Best meal I’ve had in eastbourne!! The service was ok, but not great, it wasn’t slow, just not particularly personable or warm. What the service lacked, the food more than made up for. We had the kebab wrap, and their house salad, and to start we had mushroom pâté and their flat breads. It was all really delicious. Will definitely please carnivores as well.

Came here for a special occasion and was so very impressed with the service, the food, the smiles and the genuine love for everything they do. From a gin fizz to a coconut Dahl to a blueberry cheese cake - everything was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The decor is stylish and relaxing and there are some gorgeous and fun illustrations dotted around (artist details available on request - because i asked!). The owners and their team could not help us enough with sorting out a cab home and it really made me realise that they absolutely care about their customers from start to finish 🧡

So excited, just booked again for August. Its my husbands birthday, so off from Staffordshire to Eastbourne to our favourite place and taking my auntie who lives in Easbourne with mom and dad who are all in there 80's or over... the food is delicious well presented and you can tell the effort put in to ensure you have a fantastic dining experience... You won't be disappointed... I can strongly recommend it.. I love desert and the sticky toffe pudding is out if this world but don't eat it all knave me some... see you soon...

Great choice, service and food. So nice to be able to pick anything off the menu. Everything we ordered was amazing. Sticky toffee pudding was particularly delicious.

We weren't going to eat, but hunger got the better of me. Luckily Green Bro's was there, so we knew it was vegan, & have been recommended it a few times already. When we got there, they were booked, but there was a table outside. It was cold, but they gave us blankets, & kept checking on us, which was thoughtful. The starters were delicious, & just the right amount, followed by some great mains. He had kebabs & I had jerk tofu. My tofu was light, spongey, & plentiful, whilst the plantain was still moist & warm. The rice & peas had the perfect amount of beans, spices, & seasoning. My partner enjoyed his meal just as much, although he wasn't a fan of the carrot & coriander.. which is fine, because I loved it! We will definitely go back, although we'll try booking in future!

I visited with my son and daughter in law she is a celiac as well as vegan so we were delighted to find this lovely place however when we asked about the gluten free dishes on the menu we were told they were fried in the same pan as the other dishes therefore she was very limited and disappointed in her choice of food. She was not being difficult and as a true celiac would have been really ill with any trace of gluten in her food and felt the staff made us feel like we were being awkward. Also servers were not overly friendly. Such a shame as the food was lovely!

So refreshing t be able to order anything on the menu (being vegan) . Lovely little place, great atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff, delicious food which came out quickly and a constant turnaround of diners. Would definitely return and have recommended to al my friends.

My wife is a vegan and often has trouble finding a restaurant that doesn't think vegan = Beansprouts. At Green Bros the food is innovative and delicious. It tastes like it was made by people with skill and real passion. We started by sharing the Oriental Dippers which were a real success. My wife then had The Mushroom Dhansak and I had the Coconut Dahl. Both were great and we tried each other's and couldn't decide who made the better choice. My wife couldn't manage a pudding but I had the Strawberry and Coconut pudding and loved it. A great meal and we'll definitely be returning and I'm not even a vegan!

A real gem in Eastbourne that all the family enjoys. Really loved the buffets pre 2020 and amazing that you can get take away boxes. Always recommend to anyone visiting and a great location to pick up lunch to sit on the seafront. Never disappointed.

One of the best takeaways my husband and I have had since lockdown. The soup and salad box were both amazing! I would nearly get this every day, it was all fresh, healthy and tasty. So glad they are open.

Mi tía y mi tío me llevaron a este lugar encantador por tres almuerzos recientemente. La comida era consistentemente deliciosa, con variedad bien elegida. En lugar de ordenar de un menú, usted elige un tamaño de plato (el plato "pequeño" será más que suficiente) y elige su comida de un buffet. Hay un artículo caliente y muchos fríos. Hacen ensaladas interesantes, sin una pizca de lechuga barata a la vista. La excepción a esto son los desiertos, que se eligen de un menú. Obviamente es un lugar muy popular, por lo que necesita reservas.

Apparently, the very best restaurant in Eastbourne, is planning to be open daytime only in the near future. For the past 5 years, the Green Almond has been the restaurant of choice in Eastbourne for vegetarians, vegans AND carnivores. You'll still be able to savour their incredibly tasty food, but lunch time only. Such a shame, but who knows, they may change their minds in the future and re-open evenings. Let's hope so.

Took a friend who has been veggie here for lunch and she was delighted . Delicious buffet followed by superlative desserts and Fentemans ginger beer. Well priced whats not to like!

Have been to the Green Almond many times over the last few years, and have taken various friends there,all of whom loved the food, atmosphere,service, just as much as I do! The dishes are always flavoursome,delicately mixed with herbs and spices,often innovative too.Andrew and Carmen will never be allowed to retire!! :-))

I have been to The Green Almond on several occasions, for lunches and dinner. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The decor is witty and the background music is, for a refreshing change, a delight. The food is delicious: varied, fresh and imaginative. Even my meat eating husband has been on numerous occasions. When we had dinner, we ordered both options and shared each course. For lunch, you can opt for a smaller or larger plate. The smaller plate was ample for me, but someone with a large appetite would be satisfied with the large plate. You then choose from a selection of dishes, each clearly labelled as to whether it is vegan, gluten free and so on. Thoroughly recommended, please support this innovative business where your taste buds will be tantalised. Booking is advisable.

A first for me as there are few purely veggie eateries in Eastbourne. I’m not a veggie but heard fab things about the food. Although I was aware of the restaurant, it was friends who recommended. I called on a weekday morning and managed to get a table but only just by the sound of it. I knew it was busy when they informed that there was a 90 minute time allowance for reservation - this is by no means an issue. We arrived and had finished our meal including desserts in just over 45 minutes. We weren’t rushed or felt as though we were clock watching. Food is all presented buffet style of which has a great variety including a few hot options too. We had enough space for desserts which both went down very well alongside a tasty flat white. Atmosphere is nice - cosy but not invasive and staff were very friendly. The popularity of the place was evident throughout as many people popped their head in to see if there was a table available. The takeaway option is a great idea too as the buffet options keeps it quick and convenient. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and hope to dine there again very soon.

We booked a table for lunch, and it was necessary to do that because the restaurant is tiny. However it was a very enjoyable experience. Lunch is a self service buffet (with the alternative of a marginally more expensive meal of soup + tasting plate of all the available dishes); you choose from around a dozen hot and cold dishes, all vegetarian and many vegan. On the day we went there was a very diverse set of salads/cold vegetable dishes plus a delicious vegetarian moussaka and some spicy roast potatoes. You can choose to have a medium plateful for £7 (I think) or a large for £8.50. Puddings are available if you've got any room left. Friendly family run place with a lovely ambiance. Thoroughly enjoyed this meal and have recommended it to all our family and friends who live nearby - unfortunately we don't!

I have been to The Green Almond very regularly for around two years now and have never been disappointed. The dishes change every day all vegetarian, mostly vegan as well and vegan options are produced on request even for some dishes you thought could not be vegan. Gluten free is also clearly marked.

Service was great , food wholesome and delicious.wines and food very very reasonable,what a treat. A real find in Eastbourne, at last somewhere that I’m happy to recommend as find this town sadly lacking in good eatery’s.

I went to the Green Almond with a couple of friends and found the most wonderful service! The staff were kind, chatty and accommodating to my vegan friend and they went out of their way to make our dinner special. I even split a glass of wine by mistake and they gave us another bottle as we were celebrating a special occasion. We were really overwhelmed by the wonderful service and hospitality!

Th Ave been here a few times with friends. I am not a vegetarian but I found the food to be tasty. You pay four eith a small or large plate and help your self. The staff are friendly. I would try and book as it is a small place. Only downfall is the toilets are downstairs.

El menú es limitado pero adecuado y el enfoque de autoservicio significa que ofrece una buena relación calidad-precio, así como comida recién preparada. El servicio es excelente, pero no hay muchas mesas, así que aunque hay dos sesiones, según mi experiencia, siempre ha sido esencial reservar. Mi único deseo es que haya horarios de apertura más largos, pero si eso sucediera, sospecho que perdería algo de su encanto.

Me lo he pasado muy bien en este pequeño y agradable restaurante vegetariano con amigos tanto a la hora del almuerzo como a la noche. La idea del almuerzo de dos platos de diferentes tamaños a dos precios diferentes es una gran idea. Platos sencillos sin complicaciones, pero no podía fallar la comida. La noche también es especial con cualquiera de las opciones del menú. . . que es más que suficiente para elegir. Los platos eran de alto nivel con un personal cálido y experimentado y obviamente un gran chef. . . . Me alegro de que vivo justo en la carretera.

Tuve un plato grande 8. 50 con diferentes ensaladas marcan claramente si son veganas, sin gluten y, si no, vegetarianas. Añadido un poco de vinagre balsámico, aceite de oliva y semillas. . Fantástico con tanto sabor y variedad de color. Opté por un chai latte vegano que era bueno y después tomé un té verde de dragón. Había una variedad de postres y elegí el pavlova vegano para llevar. . (que comí un poco más tarde con un café ... ¡fue definitivamente delicioso!). Como estaba solo, compartí la mesa con una dama para comenzar, compartimos una buena conversación y, poco después, cuando quedó a la izquierda, llegó un caballero que es un cliente habitual; Ambos disfrutaron su comida también. . definitivamente hacer libro . preciosas instalaciones abajo también!

Visited on a Saturday afternoon for their buffet. There was a great selection of cold and hot foods. All very fresh and tasty. It's a small place, so reservations are recommended. Good value for money, tasty and healthy.

Esta fue nuestra segunda visita a The Green Almond: vivimos a 200 millas de distancia, de lo contrario probablemente estaríamos allí todas las semanas. Ha mejorado incluso desde la última vez que estuvimos allí hace tres años. Fuimos el sábado por la noche y tuvimos una deliciosa cena de tres platos. Ambiente muy relajante, comida encantadora, dueños muy amables y camareras, y todo fue muy agradable.

The Best Vegetarian restaurant I have ever been to, dishes are amazing but super healthy. price range is reasonable and the atmosphere is very cosy

A small intimate place with a view into the kitchen and friendly staff make for a comfortable atmosphere. Lunch buffets provide a hot dish and some eight or more complex salads plus soup and bread. All tasty and interesting with a wide range of non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks including organic wine. Excellent sweets so leave room! Dinner is a choice of two starters and two main courses plus sweets and though it sounds limited the choices do provide enough variety. Limited space makes booking essential! Why four and not five stars? Purely on the limited size of menu, quality, atmosphere and friendly nature are all five.

We were looking for somewhere to have an early lunch after visiting the Towner Art Gallery and before meeting up with family. And we stumbled in the Green Almond by accident as it was nearby. And we were so glad we did.

Have never been to a vegetarian only restaurant before so one of my friends suggested we give it a try with 2 other friends. It was small , cosy and very friendly, you have a choice of plate sizes and fill up your plate for the price stated. I was very impressed with the extremely tasty food and will be going back again.

I got put off the idea of going to a vegetarian bistro but my friend was taking me out so I accepted. And I actually really enjoyed it. I had sweet potato fries which I hadn't ever tried before but it was really tasty

We chose to have the Christmas lunch and the different Christmas menu on a Saturday evening. The small intimate space was beautifully decorated and there is always a warm welcome. The food was amazing. Definitely the best nut roast we have had. We forgot our Christmas present takeaway goodie and Carmen rang us to invite us to come and collect it. Such a thoughtful touch. The joy of Green Almond is that both Vegans and Vegetarians are catered for. There's an interesting drinks menu, both alcoholic and non. If you haven't been to Green Almond we suggest you try it. You won't be disappointed.

Now I’m no vegetarian so I was a little sceptical when a friend suggested eating here. I did not miss not eating meat at all and even better that that enjoyed my meal immensely. I enjoyed the buffet lunch and have returned a few times since. Planning on trying the a la carte style dinners on Friday and Saturday evenings so stay tuned!

I’ve been coming to The Green Almond regularly since it opened, as an omnivore for the first few times, and as a vegan for the past few years. I’ve NEVER had a bad meal, and never eaten the same thing twice!
