I attended the 'Basic Breads Course' on 13th October facilited by the ultimate bread making wizards, otherwise known as Garry and Matt! I had never previously baked (anything) and my recent retirement invited the opportunity to do something very much out of my comfort zone. It's difficult to adequately summarise a most informative, hugely rewarding and highly enjoyable day, other than to say that because of their knowledge, patience, and infectious passion for artisan bread making ... I left having made three loaves which have awakend my taste buds permanently to what bread can, and should, taste like!! The entire day was pitched to be inclusive of a range of abilities, and the small group (9 in total) allowed for much humour and a mutually supportive vibe that made for a memorable day. The lunch ticked every box and reflected that the cafe, and breads etc. sold by the shop, are on another level. I certainly never anticipated becoming a bread making enthusiast at 65! Simply brilliant.

Having very recently been to a cookery school for a Bread Making Course I felt that my knowledge was sadly very much still lacking, so when I came across this bread making course I felt I had nothing to lose and hopefully very much to gain. I took my daughter along for the ride and I have to say what a totally brilliant day we had. Garry as a tutor was just what was needed, open and friendly and you can just tell that he wanted us all to feel that we can do it! We can bake bread as good as the professionals. Giving us prompts to video the most relevant techniques during the course (which I have already watched multiple times). You think you will remember everything but the videos and course notes received a few days later give you all the information you could need. We were provided with a lovely lunch from the attached Live Love Loaf Cafe and it would make me definitely pop in their for lunch if I find myself in Leek again. I have to say the bread we made on Sunday was the best tasting bread I have ever had and the 2 of us have enough bread to last for weeks :-). I would have no hesitation in recommending this Bread Making Course above other more expensive courses held not too far away and I am seriously thinking the Sourdough course might be next (sadly the Sept 24 course was already full)

The sourdough bread baking course was 10/10, absolutely *excellent*. The day was so informative and so much fun - a perfectly put together timetable of demos and talks with ample time for Qs. I learnt masses from Matt and Garry, and I now have a gang of fellow bakers for toasting our successes and failures. I've been plugging this course to friends and family ever since and would recommend to anyone with in interest in getting going for the first time or for honing their skills. My baking and my confidence have improved massively - a huge thank you LLL!

We went for the basic bread making course run by Garry, assisted by Matt. Very well structured and paced, very good sandwich lunch provided. They know their bread and you learn a lot on the day. Even more experienced bakers would gain from this course. A busy day overall but run in a relaxed way. Already going back for sourdough course.

French breads one day course, absolutely brilliant! very well prepared course, lots of hands on tuition and clear guidance how to make 3 types of french bread and also croissants / pain au chocolate. You get to take home a delicious collection of all the breads you make. Matt and Gary are so knowledgeable, it's clear why this bakery has won so many awards. lunch was provided and was yummy, just a really lovely relaxed day learning from experts how to make proper bread. The supermarket stuff will never be good enough once you have tried proper bread. Highly recommend.

A friend and I just had lunch today and I can honestly say it was outstanding. I had lentil Dahl (vegan), a small side salad and a halloumi chilli sandwich - 4 pieces of home made seeded bread (you can choose your bread) with red cabbage and fried halloumi. Delicious. My friend had a hummus sandwich and tomato soup. We both had a pot of tea. All in £20 so a bargain and we were stuffed. We then visited the bread shop which is the other part of the shop and bought some home made bread which I can't wait to try. I said I loved the Dahl and the waiter gave me the recipe. Cannot recommend highly enough!

While visiting Leek some of my friends had seen this shop and told me about it, so walked down the high street to feast my eyes and that wasn’t disappointing. The bread looked and smelt fabulous BUT no gluten free for me, the lady who was serving explained that they can’t do gluten free along with their bread as the flour could get from one loaf to another. So disappointed ☹️

Loved the course....learnt loads....and got inspired by the genuine passion of Garry and Matthew. Wholeheartedly recommend both the breads and the courses.

visited on a snowy weekend which was a shock brought a brown sourdough bread , this was beautiful had it with soup for lunch back home it was beautiful and it also lasted and didn't go stale like some crusty bread does . my husband doesn't like brown bread but he ate it and said how good it was , he may now try brown bread but I do not think he will get one made as well . Also the sausage rolls we purchased were very filling and were made well and the best we have had for some time . pity it wasn't a bakery by our home . well done .

A pleasant lunch but portions not huge. Also they had no gluten free bread so I had to go without. This was surprising as they are a bakery with a cafe attached! I know they do make it now and again so why couldn't they keep a supply in the feeezer!!

Met a friend for lunch here. It is very small so would be difficult to find a spot if busy. We were lucky and the sandwiches we had were lovely. The menu caters for most tastes and there's fresh coffee too. Cakes looked amazing. Portion sizes are good for lunch. I think this is a great little spot for a quiet lunch with friends. Staff were very friendly.

This bakery sells the best bread in the area. The selection they sell is very different in flavour and texture. If you want bread to impress, this is the place to buy from. It is more expensive to buy but well worth the cost,it freezes well for a short time period of time. I like to try a different type each time I go. You need to check when they are open, and the days they bake fresh bread. However your visit will well be worth it (enjoy)

This Artisan bread shop is amazing. My favourite is the GI loaf, my husbands favourite is a chilli loaf that they do. We get a weeks supply and slice it up for the freezer so we have fresh bread everyday. You can now buy their bread from Pronto which saves a walk to the far side of town. They also serve coffee (Grumpy Mule) and freshly made sandwiches to take away or eat in. Another great local business in Leek.

Marvellous bakery, with a friendly reception from the owner. Truly excellent bread, not the usual fake 'artisan' rubbish. Just proper, well-made loaves, croissants etc from the best materials. And the hot chocolate is to die for. My 2 year old grand daughter was fascinated to watch the preparation going on in the back.I'm returning with my daughter's for a baking course and will report separately.Trev

We have been buying bread from Live Love Loaf now since they opened and it's never failed to please. I love the flavours, textures and how they are not pumped full of chemicals. Such a cut above the rest in the quality of their products but also how they are as a business. Claire and matt are friendly, know their industry well and are always welcoming. I recommend the ale and walnut and the low Gi. The garlic focaccia is to die for. I wouldn't go anywhere else. If you haven't been yet why not!?!?

WOW! This bread is without doubt the best bread I've ever eaten, and I've eaten some! What a great shop, tucked away in Leek, absolutely excellent. Such a great variety of bread, especially the chilli, cheese and parsley, what an experience! Can't fault these folks, very well done indeed, we were just passing through but now will make a 12 mile journey just to buy our bread from here. We bought bread on this occasion but now will buy all the other items for sale as if the quality is all the same, you can't go wrong!

Gosh leek improves everytime I visit, I wish It had been like this when I lived there! I stumbled upon Love Life Loaf earlier this year, had a quick peek though the window and liked what I saw. I though I'd go for a Focaccia to give as a little gift to my host. I've lived in Italy for a long time, so I know what a good Focaccia should taste like and this certainly was yummy. When I am next over I will pop back in to try one of their sandwiches, they sound very appealing.

Unfortunately there are no longer any free-from offerings. It's such a shame as my family used to really enjoy cakes from here. Many successful eateries just don't label their products vegan or gluten-free and they sell really well. Those of us with dietary requirements will ask what's suitable for us anyway...offering one free-from GF option shouldn't be too hard in 2022.

We were staying over in Leek on a Sunday evening, wanting to sample some Staffordshire oatcakes the following morning, but the oatcake shop we wanted was closed on Monday! Poor planning. But luckily this place was open at 7.30 am and we found what we wanted here: oatcakes with various fillings such as bacon or tomato; all with cheese. If you've not tried them, Staffordshire oatcakes are very different to the Scottish biscuit that most people associate with 'oatcakes'. Here, they are a soft, flexible wrapper like a pancake, or perhaps a chapatti, made from a thin layer of a yeasted oatmeal/wheat batter griddled until it sets, then wrapped around your chosen filling. We took a pair of oatcakes with cheese and bacon, and a full English of 2 eggs, 2-3 bacon, 2 sausages, 2 toast, beans and tomatoes, plus extra hash browns. This was all in a takeaway tray - there is no table service here. It took about 10 minutes, which is fair enough as everything is cooked to order; but we were the only customers at that time. I imagine at busy times there could be quite a wait. The food was excellent, piping hot as you'd expect with it being cooked to order; and good value too, under £10 for the 2 breakfasts described above, though coffees added a bit more. Highly recommended.
