Absolute gem of a find, my only regret is not having found this place sooner. Wonderful refined food cooked and served by a lovely personable chef who went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and made a lovely effort to get to know us. I'm just flabbergasted that it wasn't busier. If you have a refined palette and enjoy more than the average that leek has to offer, this is the place. Trust me, coming from London it's been a hard slog finding a decent restaurant, but this has been the answer to our prayers to the foodie gods. We ( my family and I) will be smashing this place henceforth ☺️🐷😁)

Food was spot on for everyone, not a single issue with any of it. Between us we had pancake and chorizo/black pudding starters. Then for mains the jerk chicken and steaks. I had the pancakes which came with a really delicious and different little dipping sauce which had a nice bit of heat taste. The jerk chicken has always been good and having it with the sweet potato mash and gravy was a nice change. The gravy really went well with the chicken even though it's not a traditional approach. Atmosphere was great. Bit of background music, other people chatting but not too loud so you can enjoy your own conversation. Couple of beers, couple of glasses of vino....great evening out!

Fantastic Experience in this cosy eatery. With just a handful of tables Billy single handedly creates a superb menu in his own style. The South American, Caribbean and Asian influences are clear and the food is superb. Calamari and Chorizo with Black Pudding was followed by Argentinian Rump Steak and Jerk Chicken. Pre booking (and pre order) is a necessity and well worth it. A small selection of good wine, rounds of a great evening. Excellent value, don’t miss out on this unique experience.

A fantastic experience from start to finish. Cleverly thought out menu that changes every few weeks depending on what the owner chooses to cook. Small restaurant with open kitchen at the back which lets you watch your food being freshly cooked for you. Amazing flavours varying from Indian, Polish, Mediterranean and more. Tonight we ate Dahl with flaky roti bread/polish mushroom dumplings with rocket pesto and Parmesan. Then seafood gumbo with pan fried sea bass/Argentinian rump steak with dauphinois potatoes followed by baked New York cheesecake/dark chocolate pot. All absolutely delicious and £22 pp for three courses! Great selection of beer and lovely house red. Chilled atmosphere with great music playlist! 100% recommend and we’ll definitely return .

What a wonderful little restaurant serving delicious food. One man doing it all and it was the nicest experience. The decor is warm and cosy, service was outstanding. We booked and pre-ordered in advance. Between us, we had spiced lamb sausage with kulcha bread, Argentinean steak with dauphinoise potato, jerk chicken with Mac n cheese, raspberry cheesecake with fudge ice cream and chocolate pot with stroopwaffel. All the food was fantastic, lamb sausage was piping hot with a tasty pomegranate molasse dressing. Potatoes that went with the steak was excellent, was asked which type of mustard I wanted to go with the steak, that was a lovely touch. The chocolate pot is a must, really dark and rich. Lovely way to end an meal. I definitely want to visit again.

Absolutely fantastic in all aspects. The food was stunning: the spiced lamb sausage was amazing, the sharp and tart pomegranite perfectly contrasted how savoury the sausage was. The Argintinian steak was cooked and spiced perfectly, genuinely the tastiest piece of meat ive ever had. Dessert was fantastic - chocolate pot that seemed to be the perfect blend of bitter dark and sweet milk chocolate. All in all a fantastic meal and cannot recommend enough with great service to accompany. 👍

The fish soup went really well with its tangy cheese and sharp sauce in the bread. That's the enduring memory that I will have of the meal, since the two tangy tastes cut beautifully through the creamy fish soup. The steak and dauphin Ouse potatoes were everything you could ask just not as memorable as the fish soup. The trio of micro deserts was fantastic. You wouldn't have wanted large amounts of the really sweet sauce, so having it as one of the micro deserts really worked, and I wasn't overstuffed because the portion sizes were perfectly sized: ample without being overwhelming. The Malbec wine was new to me, and really delicious. The serving was good, the atmosphere and decor were great: loved the lights and the music.

We went to restaurant for our non-traditional Xmas meal. The place was small and our party of nearly 20 booked out the whole place. The decor is is a bit odd but suits the place perfectly, mixture of chairs, benches make up the seating. The food was great, I had pate, steak & chocolate mouse. All was cooked great, with the chef coming talking with everyone and explaining what he was doing. Staff were friendly and prompt and in a small place really help make the place, the kitchen is part of the dining and able to see you food cooked, brings a reassuring feeling that there nothing to hide.Prices were reasonable, and overall great night out. My only fault was the music was a bit strange with going from classical to heavy rock, that said it was in the background and didn't not spoil anything. We are looking forward to eating there again soon.

Reasonably priced and good wine and beer on offer also. Room for 16 on nights they are open so book in advance. Really love the intimacy of this place. A cosy little bolt hole in the middle of Leek. The menu is small but I quite like that there aren't lots of choices to make it difficult to decide what to eat. My husband really loved the chorizo starter he had. The jerk chicken was nice but not as authentic as it could be in my opinion but still worth the try. There seems to be influence of food from the caribbean on the menu which is a bit different. We will try to return to try other things. The wine/drinks were good and generally the menu was reasonably priced. A really nice place to eat and the owner is lovely too. We came here on Saturday night. I wanted to take my partner out for a meal just before Valentine's Day. We walked in and I asked for a table for 2, at which point we were seated and it was great. The owner came over and was cheery and informed us about the house cocktails and the beers which we then proceeded to order. We were given the menu and my partner who's a vegetarian was given some great options. We were given our drinks and the evening was going fantastic. We thought we'd found a little piece of heaven. The food was on its way and we were given nibbles in the meantime. However, another couple walked in and had said that they had booked, which is fair enough. The problem was, that the owner then went around every table in the restaurant and asked a load each table if they had booked or not. He then came back to me and asked me if I had booked with everyone watching, I said no I hadn't, I just asked for a table for two. We were then put in an awkward position when there was no other tables and the owner asked us to go onto another table and told us that we'd have to leave infront of the whole restaurant. It was one of the most embarrassing situations we have been in. He said to the couple who sat on the table from which we had been removed "here's some nice seats for you already warmed!" We sat there awkwardly trying to finish the drinks as soon as possible to get out the situation, the owner did give us the drinks free of charge, but we were humiliated infront of everybody there and it was highly uncomfortable and embarrassing, I even asked if there was a table another night, he just told me to ring up. We had to rush out as the next party came in and we knew we were going to be asked to leave as there was nowhere to sit. We won't be coming here again. We were treated unfairly and we felt discriminated against for being a young couple. I rarely write bad reviews but felt I had to due to the way we were treated, it just wasn't right.

Neither the name not the size of the establishment could have prepared us for the delight of our visit. It was also December and therefore the "Christmas Menu" not usually the best time to try somewhere for the first time. We stepped through the door to a warm welcome and one of the best meals we could imagine. We both ate all three courses without feeling totally overfaced. The meat free options were full of flavour and very satisfying, the Argentinian steak was exquisite, the little chocolate pots rich and indulgent without being sickly. The secret - have a small menu, begin with top quality ingredients - cook with love and passion - build in a little time for interesting conversation - appear calm and unruffled on the surface (even if you might be paddling away like mad underneath). This is the recipe for a restaurant that folks will want to return to again and again - can't wait to go back!

I had one of the best steaks I have eaten in a long time, I ordered it blue, I would say it arrived rare, but this is a minor thing, it literally melted in my mouth. We tasted more or less everything from the Christmas menu and I would order it again in a heartbeat, especially the chocolate, ginger rum pot, which satisfied my dark chocolate craving, I also particularly enjoyed the pate make with local trout. We went for the more expensive option of wine, which was very drinkable, had coffee at the end and a shot of limoncello. I thing we spend around £30 each for four people, three courses each, two bottles of wine and beer. Excellent value for the whole experience. Can't wait to go back.

Attended a 60th Birthday celebration last weekend and had a lovely evening. Excellent food (I had the steak option but sampled some of the other choices!) and the drink menu whilst limited (purposely I suspect)was nevertheless really good value for money. We will return!

Lovely atmosphere, and a chef that has a personal touch and cares about his customers. Food was excellent, and one of the best steaks I've ever had. Would certainly recommend and will be going back.

Following my first visit last month I returned with my fussy foodie partner to sample the Argentinian rump steak which I had seen previously. I was not disappointed. Large flavoursome and perfectly seasoned and cooked it was one of the best steaks I've enjoyed for a very long time. The accompanying dauphinois potatoes made it an extremely indulgent treat. A fresh well dressed salad finished the dish nicely.

This is a small, pop-up style restaurant, with about 12 covers. The chef cooks in the room with you, and the 'feel' of the place is like having a meal with the chef at his home. The menu is not huge, but everything on it has some interest for foodies. We were a party of six, and all of us were hugely impressed with the quality of the ingredients and the style and precision of the cooking. A simple rare steak is always a good test of a restaurant, and the Argentine beef served here was perfect (you can have local Angus beef if you prefer!). The choice if dishes is eclectic, and the menu changes frequently. We'll be back, and soon; if we can get in! This place gets busy, and advance booking is a must.

Well, what can I write about this experience of being in this Street Grill that people have not said before, given that this was my first time there I found it to be pleasant, quirky and you know it just had that ambiance of place I like. It is only small inside but with the chatting and good friends I went with this just did not matter. It was right up my alley with the wooden seating and interesting wall hangings. If you want something different to the corporate look of high street restaurants then this place is for you.

small, intimate restaurant. Went for my partner's birthday and we both loved the food. It is prepared in front of you. The service is friendly and homely and even the music is good.

The Street Grill is tucked away in Leek and having passed by many times we decided to give it a go, also the great comments on TA were of great value.

Phoned a couple of days before thinking that accommodating just 2 people early doors on a Thursday night in Leek wouldn't be a problem.... He was full! However he called me back a few minutes later & said he could fit us in if we could be there for 6pm. So glad we took up the offer.... Jerk chicken & macaroni which I initially thought was a strange combination was to die for. Everything was sooo flavoursome & the steaks looked awesome on the next table. I was spoilt for choice by the short but enticing menu. Billy was very passionate about his food & this showed as he described the dishes to us, to help us to make a choice. The cocktail of the week was a great touch. Being such a small venue & Leek being a friendly town where everyone knows each other the whole evening felt more like going to a neighbours house for supper. Definitely one to return to.

Short menu, all cooked to order in the open kitchen area at the back of the restaurant. Street food is meant to be fresh, full of flavours and uncomplicated, and the Street Grill delivers on these promises.

As the name implies, this is an informal dining experience. Had a good feeling the moment we walked in. It's a tiny place but has a lovely feel to the place. My other half had ribeye steak, which was cooked to perfection. I had jerk chicken which came with a lovely macaroni cheese and proper fresh coleslaw. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced too. We will definitely be back.

Enjoyed the excellent food and surrounds of this lovely family run restaurant. The menu is fantastic with a large and well prepared food. A must for any celebrations. I have enjoy a few family gatherings here and every time the meals have been great. Service is good, fast and polite

Unfortunately there are no longer any free-from offerings. It's such a shame as my family used to really enjoy cakes from here. Many successful eateries just don't label their products vegan or gluten-free and they sell really well. Those of us with dietary requirements will ask what's suitable for us anyway...offering one free-from GF option shouldn't be too hard in 2022.

We were staying over in Leek on a Sunday evening, wanting to sample some Staffordshire oatcakes the following morning, but the oatcake shop we wanted was closed on Monday! Poor planning. But luckily this place was open at 7.30 am and we found what we wanted here: oatcakes with various fillings such as bacon or tomato; all with cheese. If you've not tried them, Staffordshire oatcakes are very different to the Scottish biscuit that most people associate with 'oatcakes'. Here, they are a soft, flexible wrapper like a pancake, or perhaps a chapatti, made from a thin layer of a yeasted oatmeal/wheat batter griddled until it sets, then wrapped around your chosen filling. We took a pair of oatcakes with cheese and bacon, and a full English of 2 eggs, 2-3 bacon, 2 sausages, 2 toast, beans and tomatoes, plus extra hash browns. This was all in a takeaway tray - there is no table service here. It took about 10 minutes, which is fair enough as everything is cooked to order; but we were the only customers at that time. I imagine at busy times there could be quite a wait. The food was excellent, piping hot as you'd expect with it being cooked to order; and good value too, under £10 for the 2 breakfasts described above, though coffees added a bit more. Highly recommended.

Discovered by chance when looking for a lunch venue. I really enjoyed the soup and cheese scone and my partner was very impressed with the quiche. The china crockery is really lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful.

We were doing the Chrome Hill walk and called in for a drink before setting off. The ladies in the cafe were so welcoming, giving advice on the walk and even lending me a walking pole. This is a quaint, traditional tearoom with homemade cakes, quiches etc. Everything coming out of the kitchen was fresh and delicious. As a community hub there was also local produce to buy, including items to raise money for mountain rescue. Charming little place, well worth a visit, and even better when we bought cakes to bring home too - lip smackingly good!
