What a pleasure it was to return to this cafe a year after we last came. Words are not enough to underline to the reader how impressive the food, service, welcome and value for money are at this wonderful vegetarian cafe. The magic worked on your taste buds alone will bring you back here again and again. The quality of the food, its variety of ingredients and the talent, presentation and taste of the food Cathy cooks here is beyond excellent. We have reviewed this venue on Happy Cow last year and said then 'why is this woman not famous' the same rings true today. The passion Cathy brings to her food shows in every dish and we've now tried much of the very wide variety on the menu. Every dish is bursting with flavour, texture and visual perfection. The ingredients Cathy uses, the seeds, vegetables, salads, cheeses all contribute to a rich and enlightening experience, even for those, like us, who have been cooking vegetarian food for decades. The picture attached is of the toasted ciabatta with caramelised onions, a rich creamy sauce and delicious mushrooms topping the bread. It was out of this world and accompanied by an equally incredible salad. The service, venue, relaxed music and the spotless hygiene all contribute to the overall regret that this lovely, lovely lady doesn't run a famous restaurant with Michelin accreditation and the recognition of what she is doing here every single day. This location is not to be missed. If you are in Liskeard and you don't come here to eat, you will have missed the culinary experience of a lifetime. Sit, eat, enjoy and be thankful. This lady works tirelessly to make Vegetarian food that warms the soul.

This lovely cafe is in the Liskerrett Community Centre. We discovered it after going into the wrong building when looking for the Family Hub for weigh-in clinic after our daughter was born! The food smelt delicious so we headed straight back for brunch after our appointment, and were not disappointed! We’ve been several times since and are always treated to a lovely warm welcome. The food is amazing - lots of flavour, generous portions and, despite neither of us being vegetarians, this place is often our first choice for food when we’re in town. Highly recommended, give it a try!

It's not the easiest place to find in Liskeard but it is tucked just a few steps away from the old cattle market which is now a large car park. Park as far away from the car park entrance as you can get and then just cross the road to the Liskeret centre and there you will find The Hub. We have eaten there twice now and been delighted with the way that the menu changes from day to day. For a quick lunch we can recommend the sandwiches, especially the brie and cranberry and the stilton and onion chutney. Each comes with the most amazing salad that is a collection of leaves, beans, grapes, tomatoes and seeds with olive oil and balsamic vinegar if needed. Perhaps not the greatest place to take a hardened meat eater but I have tried The Hub's version of a vegetarian burger and was delighted with it. We will be back and we have already recommended The Hub to friends and family/

I would give it six if I could... To start with, the staff at the Liskerrett Community Centre were lovely and friendly, which then continued into the Hub cafe itself. Masks were worn (by us and them) which was a big plus for us. The Cafe itself is lovely and bright and adorned with art created by the owner, and the whole atmosphere was very inviting and pleasant. We had sandwiches (stilton with red onion chutney etc., and humous with beetroot etc.), both of which came with salads. And these weren't just a couple of salad leaves and cherry tomatoes thrown on the plate, oh no - olives, avocado, lettuce, tomato, kidney beans, pomegranate and (I think) little slivers of mango. Drizzled with olive oil and balsamic (which you apply yourself). Both the sandwiches (which my wife and I shared, by which I mean approx 60:40 in my favour) were lovely, with loads of filling and flavour in between seeded bread, and the salad was beautiful (as was the coleslaw which also came with it). There were many enticing things we could have chosen from the menu, but we were in something of a rush, so went for the straightforward option. We both said that, if we had been holidaying in Liskeard for a few days, we would have been back to the Hub possibly every day to try more things on the menu. To cap it all, we spoke to the owner/proprietor, who is a lovely lady, and we had a laugh with her and the woman who served us. It is obvious that a great deal of thought and care goes into every part of the Hub. Bravo, and thank heavens the place has survived lockdown etc, and is obviously thriving. If we do move to Liskeard, we will be back!!

Down visiting Cornwall from Buckinghamshire today by accident we stumbled upon this cafe, tucked away near the market. Because of the current covid restrictions, we were served outside. And we had a superb lunch: my partner had a delicious mushroom and spinach quiche with a wonderful mixed “superfood” salad containing mango, avocado, grapes, gojis, as well as the usual salad ingredients. Being predominantly a plant based eater, I had a fantastic spicy bean burger with couscous, quinoa, and salad. The presentation of the food was perfect and the waitress could not have been more helpful. A real hidden gem if you enjoy quality and varied vegetarian/plant based cuisine. Highly recommended

Situated slightly off the beaten track, I'm so pleased I ventured a few minutes walk from Liskeard's Fore Street to discover this hidden gem of a café. Looking for nothing more than a seat and a light snack, I was greeted immediately by the warm, smiling welcome of the café owner, the sight of blackboards filled with scrumptious, affordable food-choices and the vibe of a chilled, cosy atmosphere that had me sitting down in no time. When my food arrived a short while later, again with a smile, there was three times as much as I'd expected - presented like 'art on a plate'. My biggest regret was that I didn't think to take a photograph of it.The sweet potato fritters were topped with Greek yoghurt with a sprinkling of pomegranate seeds. The colourful, sumptuous salad contained pasta, couscous and 'olives with a kick', among several other tastes and textures. All of it was fresh, done to a tee and no two mouthfuls were the same - a taste explosion served with the passion and attention to detail of a proprietor who clearly loves what she does... and does it very well.I would highly recommend this café to anyone, meat-eaters included. I came away feeling inspired to return as soon as I can... and to eat less meat and much more of what they serve in The Hub Café.

This place really is great and Cathy is a wonderful host. It's in the Liskerret Centre in Liskeard, opposite the far end of the Cattle Market Car Park (park there if you have a car).I'm not vegetarian but recommend to everyone as, for meat eaters, it makes a healthy change. The friends I've taken there have all been impressed (even if a little cautious at first given its vegetarian and that they are meat eaters!).The variety of salads on the meals are great and it makes a change as its not something I'd do at home because of the wide range of ingredients used.My only advice is to avoid disappointment, avoid Thursday lunch times as the place is taken over by the local knit and natter group and consequently its difficult to squeeze in (and they aren't very polite in adjusting their chairs to make room for people!).

I discovered this gem for 'foodies' hidden away in Liskerrett Community Centre near the old market car park. There is nothing outside to hunt at the treasure hidden inside. Forget you have to sign into a rather bleak building and just go for it.Their mixed salads which come with most dishes are a treasure. I'm not a vegetarian but I'm prefer their menu to many cafes around. I've been coming here for 2 years whenever in Liskeard. If you like good wholesome food, give it a try. I came into Liskeard today to visit a friend I hadn't seen for several years and she had booked us a table for lunch at this wonderful little cafe. There is a varied menu of all kinds of delicious vegetarian fare. I had the Homety pie and my friend had the quiche. All the food is homemade and comes with a salad, which apart from salad, has rice, pasta, cous cous and other little delicious tasty morcels in too. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and clearly well known to the locals as it was busy. Thank Ros for taking me and thank you Hub Cafe for a fabulous lunch.

The Hub does exactly what it says it does. A very varied, imaginative, colourful, local produced range of vegetarian and gluten free foods. To be able to eat delicious home made freshly prepared dishes without worrying about what's in your food is a delight in itself. Falafels, patties, quiches, soups - it is the only menu I have ever seen where I could (if I had the capacity) eat my way through every course; the salads are to die for with such variety and colour, a joy to the eye before you even start to eat, flavours and herbs so subtle.

The Hub Café serves lunch on weekdays from 1200-1400 and closes at 1600.It is within an old school that has been transformed into a community centre with an art gallery, a playscheme, a computer classroom and a cinema. We have eaten there twice and been happy with the food both times. There's the usual blackboard menu with several choices. Most of the "main" choices come with several salads. I really can't recommend this place enough. A wholesome plateful at a reasonable price. I hardly need to eat for the rest of the day! They can adjust things for vegans too. There is no alcohol sold although I guess you could take your own in. I saw no families with children on either visit but I'd have taken mine there when they were young! They do half portions... The vinyl table cloths make it above average in the child-proof stakes!A bit hard to judge the atmosphere - it is, after all, an old classroom! There are plenty of newspapers, magazines and the usual tourist/arty leaflets etc. Local artists display their art on the walls. Here is an independent review which is accurate and includes pictures:http://choclogblog.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/liskeards-hidden-gem.html
