Quince & Medlar

All Saints, Allerdale, >100£
10/10/2020: Third visit to the Q. and M. a couple of days ago and it was every bit as good as the previous twice. Covid restrictions and spacing were in place and we felt very safe. Service, as ever, was impeccable but the food is the real star. Taster menu, of three starters, three mains and three desserts, was delightful with a wide variety of tastes and textures. Already looking forward to our next visit.
08/10/2020: As an omnivore with a vegetarian partner we both agreed that the tasting menu was a truly memorable experience. Gnocchi Parisienne and the chick pea dip were just two favourites. The kitchen team clearly know how to judge flavour, texture and presentation set in context of unusual combinations of ingredients. Previously unsung vegetables such as fennel became flavoursome and moreish. Well deserving of the other accolades given by other reviewers.

Cafe Roya

Beeston North, Broxtowe
17/09/2020: We went to celebrate our daughter's promotion. It was the best vegetarian meal that I have had and among the best meals of any kind that I have eaten. Everything was tasty and well-presented and it is a nice change to have pea shoots, instead of rocket. I didn't recognise the brand of cider, but I enjoyed that too. Go there for a treat/celebration.
11/09/2020: The lunch we had this week was happy food. It looked a delight and tasted even better I shall be back yum

Hinnies Restaurant

Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, 20-30£
13/10/2020: We were attracted to Hinnies as it seemed 'different ' but also had visited one of the other restaurants in the group. The Covid19 Safeguards were effectively managed & adhered to throughout, by the lone front of house member of staff. He managed a juggling act of several tables with good humour & professionalism. The menu choices were different and care was shown to assist with specific dietary requirements. The seafood & fish soup was delicious & a very filling starter. I had Pan Hagerty with a poached duck egg, served with roasted vegetables and was delighted with it. My companion said that the pan fried cod, with sauerkraut, potatoes & parsnip puree was very tasty. We were too full to try the very tempting desserts With a couple of glasses of wine & a soft drink, the bill was very reasonable. Give Hinnies a try if you're in Whitley Bay or nearby.
12/10/2020: What a lovely restaurant, the staff were great and the food was fabulous. Highly recommend this little gem in the mist of a rundown Whitley bay promenade.

Zoo Cafe

Newland, Kingston upon Hull, City of
20/10/2020: I’ve visited zoo many times since the current owners took over a few years ago and I have to say I have always been warmly welcomed, eaten delicious, fresh and interesting food and have enjoyed the lovely surroundings that have clearly had a lot of thought and effort put into making it a nice place to be. I visited today for breakfast and had the most delicious Brie and fresh fig toasted panini with a side of their usual fresh and tasty salad. The staff were still their friendly selves even with the current restrictions, hand sanitiser, social distancing and track and trace firmly in place, but not taking away from the lovely relaxed atmosphere! Thanks for my ace brunch! Xx
13/10/2020: Visited here on Tuesday lunch and wasn’t expecting it to be quite so busy. We had a little wait for a table but could have sat outside if the weather had been better. Very quirky place with a lovely vibe. My 2 daughters are vegan so we choose here as read the good reviews and they have been before but I’m not vegan yet the choice was still great. I had the quiche- huge slice with slaw, grains salad and crisps. Absolutely gorgeous. The others all had a variation of breakfasts and were all really pleased. The service was great in fact nothing negative at all to say. Well done owners, chefs and staff. Keep up the good work. A hidden gem

OakTree Vegetarian Bistro

Chalkwell, Southend-on-Sea, <20£
08/10/2020: We enjoyed our food. Although only one other table at lunchtime service was poor. The staff were out of site most of time and didn't check in to see if everything was OK or anything else we needed. No napkins or cutlery until asked for and chips didn't arrive with our order. We forgot the chips to be honest so not a big deal!
06/10/2020: It was our last date night before I went to uni, and as a vegan I wanted to try this restaurant. It was okay, but I was quite disappointed when I told them I had an allergy to gluten and I got normal white bread. It was great they changed it as soon as they knew but by then I had already eaten some of the bread assuming it was gluten free. I sat there rather uncomfortably all night feeling pretty unwell. Luckily my condition isn’t too serious otherwise that could have been pretty dangerous. They did take it off the bill which was good. The only problem I found was the waitress that I told my allergy to, after this altercation disappeared and did not talk to us the rest of the night. The staff are nice enough but quiet. They created a nice atmosphere for us with hearts on the table as it was our date night which was lovely and I can’t fault the food, but was disappointed with the starter. Maybe I will return but I’m sure they can understand this is a big issue that has to be addressed first. She did apologize at the end so I am thankful for that.

The Mayor's Cafe

Poplar, Nuneaton and Bedworth
06/10/2020: Freshly cooked wholesome delicious Tagine for lunch here today. Friendly warm welcome to all and lots of lunch choices available. We will definitely be returning soon
06/08/2020: When we went to the Mayor’s cafe we didn’t know it was a vegetarian cafe and we may not have chosen to go if we’d known, however we are so glad we did! I ordered the pepper pizza and it was INCREDIBLE! We will be going back for fresh food, friendly staff and really reasonable prices.

Ilminster, South Somerset

The HiVe Cafe

Melcombe Regis, Weymouth and Portland
08/09/2020: We came to the Hive Cafe after it was recommended to us by a family member before lockdown. When walked to the cafe it seemed very busy. Advised it was outdoor seating but what we actually found was a handful of outdoor seats and a lot of marquee/enclosed gazebo seating. The cafe had placed seating/picnic bench outside the main door one way system and people sat there with no masks on. They were unavoidable because this was the only way in! So couldn’t socially distance. The staff did not wear masks!! They were going from table to table serving customers and not washing their hands between them. It was shocking! The cafe said they were adhering to COVID precaution guidelines but this seemed to be a tick box exercise. We decided to go for take away to avoid this awful situation.Their menu is massively over priced - £18 for a large fish and chips which was no bigger than the kids portion of fish and chips and this was greatly over priced too!! The food was tasty but not worth the money or the risk.Never eat here again!

West End, City of London,Westminster
27/09/2020: Really good food, nicely presented and with quick service. Drinks and cocktails were excellent too: I tried a variety of drinks hot and cold. The only slight letdown was dessert (Chocolate brownie) but only because of the overall quality of the preceding courses (Black bean burger with a side of sweet potato chips (which were easily the best I've had), Mushroom dumplings). The staff were friendly and there was no waiting around. Price wise it wasn't incongurous for London. Burgers for £9.50ish, more traditional mains for £13, speciality soft drinks like ice tea c £3, starters around £6, puddings around £6.50. Our overall bill for 2 was £70, with a few drinks and both eating 3 courses with 1 additional side. It was definitely worth the money.Restraunt was very COVID compliant as well, with a QR code for the NHS app.
21/09/2020: My partner and I are both vegetarian and were trying to quickly look up a place to eat nearby. I had never heard of Mildreds nor knew it was a vegetarian restaurant, but we quickly looked at their menu and saw it had vegetarian dishes. It was PACKED to the brim on this cold rainy night, people smashed into the hallway and spilling into the street. The wait was over an hour but we were already there--why not? We got some drinks and after half an hour found some stools in a corner. I knew we had made a good choice when I had my cocktail and fell in love. We were seated upstairs, which I was glad for since it was much quieter. All our meals and dessert cocktail were delicious. It's definitely a bit pricey, but I would go back again in a heartbeat.

The Good Earth

Wells Central, Mendip
10/10/2020: The restaurant is coping very well with the covid restrictions eccentricities. Good prompt and friendly service. Lovely food, and generous portions - we eat here whenever we come to Wells for the day-we will be back!
04/10/2020: Super top notch home cooked vegetarian food that is well seasoned and very tasty. we had the baked potato, salads (tasty not bland), tart etc, Highly recommended and very homely interior with plenty of space in the various rooms to find a table.

The Green Almond

Meads, Eastbourne, 20-30£
16/07/2020: it's wonderful to have The Green Almond back offering take away. The food is freshly prepared, utterly delicious and healthy too. Eco friendly.

St David's, Exeter, >100£
03/09/2020: We booked a table at Herbies during the "Eat out to help out" scheme. Staff were attentive and friendly. Meals were a good size and great flavour. A perfect lunch spot.
29/08/2020: Went for a meal here as my daughter is vegetarian and all o can say is Wow!- just wow! The food was out of this world even for a meat eater like me. Lush desserts - very decadent. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. I can honestly say it’s the nicest vegetarian restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. Just a shame we live 3and 1/2 hour drive away or else this would be our go to restaurant.

Seeds 2

Totnes Town, South Hams
08/10/2020: This place has to be worth a visit when going to Totnes. Great food, great vibe, great coffee. Lovely people and such a safe environment in these times. Great work by all there. (You must have the mac and cheese!)
03/10/2020: Called in for a cuppa and bite to eat, all fine except when we asked for our food (savoury tarts) to be heated up they said they couldn't as ovens had been turned off!! It was about 2 o'clock. Seemed a bit odd, not the service you would expect in this day & age! Coffee & food all very tasty

Harbour House Cafe

Westville and Alvington, South Hams
13/09/2020: Beautiful place to eat, both inside and out. Immaculately clean and socially distanced so feels very safe. We met friends for lunch, coffee and cake on their recommendation. The lunch menu and cake options were fantastic - the Mezze and Buddha bowl veggie/vegan options we chose were absolutely delicious and big portions. The staff were lovely and friendly. Its not always easy to find such fantastic vegan.veggie food but this place is outstanding, We'd recommend this place to anyone who appreciates great food and service and especially if you're looking for excellent vegan/veggie options. We will certainly be back next time we visit the area.
31/08/2020: What a lovely little find. After a long drive for our stay in Kingsbridge we came across this place to eat and it was exactly what we needed. Friendly service and great food. I had the frittata and my partner had the tart, both great portions with a lovely salad and focaccia bread, we will be back! :)

Totnes Town, South Hams, 20-30£
27/09/2020: How wonderful to find a vegetarian restaurant with delicious options and amazing salads. We had a mushroom strudel and a spinach and chickpea korma. Both requally tasty and filling.
