Lansdown, Cheltenham
23/10/2020: Delicious meal - couldn’t fault anything. Lovely, welcoming staff. Would highly recommend if you’re visiting the Cotswolds.
18/10/2020: Ate here last night while staying in Cheltenham for a couple of nights. The atmosphere was great and very welcoming, the staff all Covid aware. I tried snails for the first time & was very impressed! Main meal of rabbit and finished on a cheese board all washed down with a lovely bottle of red. All of which was cooked and presented beautifully. The staff took time to explain what the dishes consisted of, and I would definitely recommend.

Edie's Kitchen

St Austell Bay, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
04/11/2020: We dropped into the area for a weekend break and were recommended this restaurant. Located at the end of a small, understated parade of shops we may easily have walked past if we hadn't already booked and what a mistake that would have been. Service excellent but the food was amazing and really made our day. Delicious oxtail starter which I never wanted to end. Fish cooked to perfection and each plate was simply excellent in its simplicity and combination of flavours. It was food that puts a smile on your face - already planning to go back next year.
04/11/2020: We spent a very pleasant lunchtime at this restaurant. The service was excellent, the staff were very amenable and the food we had was fabulous. We had the vegetarian menu which had flare and imagination, this is such a change. If anyone wants a very enjoyable brunch, lunch or dinner don’t hesitate to try Edie’s.

La Flambe Restaurant

Kington, Wiltshire
01/11/2020: Fantastic experience as ever. Great food great service and an excellent venue. We will certainly come back again.
29/10/2020: This was our first visit to La Flambé. We had lunch with another couple. The Restaurant was welcoming with tables placed to allow more than adequate social distancing. The staff were friendly and attentive. Service was swift especially as food was cooked freshly. We were warned by our friends that the portions were very generous so we chose only to order main courses and a sweet. I selected pork medallions and my wife salmon with mussels. Both were served with generous helpings of hot tasty fresh vegetables and were extremely tasty. The sweet choices were wide enough for all tastes, My, choice of bread and butter pudding with custard was wonderful. This was an excellent lunch at a very reasonable cost. It is definitely a venue we will visit again.

Maison Bleue Restaurant

Abbeygate, St Edmundsbury
17/11/2020: 3 of us had a takeaway lunch today and it was exceptional and incredibly good value . Thank you for making my Birthday special Maison Bleue%!
10/11/2020: No idea if this is the right vehicle to write this review, if not so what. Two dear friends decided, as a surprise, to invite my wife and I to lunch today. It was her birthday. Many thanks to Jean and Vanessa for their kindness. They amazed us by buying in a Maison Bleue takeaway meal.Absolutely brilliant, content, taste, presentation etc superb.Very good value.Karine and Pascal are to be congratulated on the idea and implementation. It does seem that this idea may become permanent. If so good.In this time of concern, worry and loss perhaps they have discovered one way of making our lives that much better and less stressful.Good luck and thanks to them.Keith Lee

Quite Simply French

Castle, Lancaster, 45-60£
22/11/2020: I’m really pleased to say that my wife and I have just finished a wonderful Sunday Lunch courtesy of QSF as part of their book and collect service under Covid rules. It’s always great to be able to support our local businesses but this came without any downside. The whole arrangement worked a treat, the food was super - very tasty and plenty of it. Certainly would recommend others to use this service in these difficult times.
16/11/2020: We have been a couple of times before so when we got a rare Sunday of together we decide on lunch at qsf as always from arrival to leaving nothing is to much trouble and all COVID-19 rules were followed and explained also it was nice to see our son who is one the chefs thank you all for another memorable lunch

La Boheme

Lymm, Warrington
23/10/2020: Five of us dined here recently and I cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. The food was superb, beautifully presented, tasted divine and such fantastic value for money. There is an excellent selection to suit everyone. The restaurant is very clean and feels very covid safe. And to top it all off the staff are brilliant - so friendly, dedicated and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend a visit to La Boheme!
04/10/2020: Had my lockdown 40th Birthday meal here on Friday. Beautiful food, great menu, clean, safe environment. Staff friendly, welcoming and professional. Would certainly return. You have got it just right! Thank you.

Wedgwood The Restaurant

City Centre, Edinburgh, City of, 45-60£

Bengal Brasserie

Kirkstall, Leeds
27/10/2020: The only place i ever go for a curry and let me tell you it never lets me down!full of flava, bengal brasserie will always be my go to for tasty food. The staff are also very friendly and polite 5stars
25/10/2020: This is the hardest review I have written to date. I feel sad.Lovely place, lovely people, great atmosphere, lovely service, generosity, tasty food, decent pricing, welcoming, a complimentary drink and it could have been a 5 star review but .................................... with the exception of some screening it was as if we were in normal times and not during a pandemic.Masks were either not being worn at all or worn incorrectly by all of the team working there.I have an underlying heath issue so need to take care, my friend in currently very unwell with covid and I felt really uncomfortable with the mask situation to the extent that I did say something to one of our lovely waiters and he did apologise but it continued and it sadly spoiled our experience. We thought about leaving when we saw this on arrival and with hindsight should have done as I'm now worrying.Masks were either on the chin, nowhere near the mouth; being pulled down to speaking which defeats the object speak, not covering the nose or no mask at all and still coming up close to diners as you have to when working in a restaurant. I think the team were maybe not adhering to the rules because the owner, who was otherwise lovely, wore no mask at all.Such a shame as it could have been a fab dining experience but this was not good. The rules are there for a reason, this virus can kill and is virulent, spreading fast.

The Guildhall Tavern

Poole Town, Poole, >100£
27/10/2020: This is an old building and very a much a part of the harbour scene. Right across the road from the working harbour it's location is ideal and even on a cool but sunny autumn day it was great just sitting outside watching the world go by.Down side is no ale on draft!
25/10/2020: We had the pleasure of celebrating our wedding reception at the spectacular Guildhall Tavern. The food, service, ambiance and overall experience is and always has been one of “Pure Class”.This establishment and their team did everything possible to go above and beyond for our big day. The magic of our wedding reception was enhanced by the seemingly effortless performance of all at the Guildhall Tavern. We will always return!!!Mrs.Lee-Ramsbottom

Chez Lindsay

South Richmond, Richmond upon Thames, >100£
05/11/2020: Just by searching for a French restaurant in Richmond we found this little gem. A great French restaurant which genuinely feels like you have pooped across the Channel. A great selection of tasty dishes and good wine to accompany them and not too expensive. Fantastic staff who were very friendly and happy to put up with my attempts at speaking French. Just a shame we discovered it one the eve of Lockdown2 but we will be back
05/11/2020: We hadn’t been for a while but fabulous as ever. Very pleased to see excellent veggie choices. The rigatoni sounded a bit dull on the menu but was really special! We had a wonderfully cooked, tasty meal with a good wine and at a very reasonable price. All very Covid aware but in no way detracted from the warm and convivial atmosphere. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Thanks for a lovely birthday!

Guildhall, York, 20-30£
16/10/2020: Had an excellent dinner, superb service and great atmosphere. Staff extremely efficient, attentive, helpful & friendly. All very Covid safe. Food very tasty and well cooked. Lovely wines & beers.
15/10/2020: We booked a table for my birthday. Friendly staff and knowledgeable staff.I ordered the French onion soup which was delicious. My wife the vegetables soup which came with French bread which see enjoyed. We both chose the the steak mine was cooked perfect but my wife's steak was very tough in places. Which they apologised they offered my wife a free pudding which was very good of them. We will go again.

The Opposition Bistro

Stratford Guild and Hathaway, Stratford-on-Avon, 45-60£
03/11/2020: I had heard fab things about this place, and it measured up to my lofty expectations in every way. The crisp Picpoul de Pinet was delicious and reasonably priced. The sea bass special was very well conceived and executed; the clever fennel boulangere was immaculately presented and very tender, the shellfish veloute was very flavoursome but velvet smooth. Places like this really ought to survive, and I very much hope they do so I can visit again and again in the future.
02/11/2020: We visited for a meal on a Saturday night. The staff were welcoming, friendly and very accomodating. The menu was clear and there was a good choice of food. Although the portions were slightly small, the food was wonderful.

Truffles French Restaurant

Fareham East, Fareham, 20-30£
14/11/2020: Just licking the plates from takeaway pie and mash. Everything was delicious, the pastry was perfect, the veg tasty and beautifully cooked. This must be the best takeaway for a tenner in Fareham.
25/10/2020: Two friends and I booked to go to Truffles Friday 23rd October for a birthday celebration. They are set up very well and take the covid rules seriously. Two of us chose the fillet steak with ox cheek. I have to say it was the best meal I have had in such a long time, the steak was cooked to perfection and the ox cheek melted in my mouth. It was sublime.

The Ritz Restaurant

St James's, City of London,Westminster
05/11/2020: The Ritz is one of those places where from the moment you walk in, you feel almost as if you are in another world, where nothing is too much trouble and all of the staff want to make your time there as enjoyable as possible. On a Saturday night with the house band (a smaller than usual ensemble of a singer and pianist in COVID-19 times) playing The Ritz is even more special than usual with a wonderful atmosphere that offers the perfect antidote to current times. The food was as good as ever, and as usual we had the longest tasting menu which has unfortunately had to lose a course (which is of course reflected in the reduced price) as a result of the 10pm curfew. Nevertheless, the quality of the cookery is superb, and we had another opportunity to enjoy the amazing aged parmesan custard and black truffle dish which is the sort of dish that one would be more than happy with at any of Europe's finest 3* Michelin tables. Their seasonal dover sole dish was beautiful with mushroom flavours and a sauce with halves of peeled grapes, obviously inspired by Escoffier's classic Veronique. The execution and flavours in their dishes are spot on and all of the dishes are unashamedly luxurious with their rich, butter based champagne sauces, caviar and truffles. Who wouldn't be happy to enjoy the most luxurious produce cooked with finesse? As the 10pm curfew was fast approaching all of the waiters changed up a gear to try and get the service finished on time. As an extra course, with a quarter of hour to spare we watched our crepes Suzette being prepared tableside and despite the time pressures the sauce was not rushed and was simply perfect. This is a very classic dish and all the more delicious for it. The perfect end to a lovely evening. With all the current restrictions on international travel, The Ritz offers an easy opportunity to escape to a place with marvellous food and a great atmosphere which in these times is all the more welcome than ever. P.S. At a subsequent dinner, their very last dinner service before the second lockdown, the food and atmosphere was as wonderful as ever and for a few hours, after stepping into The Ritz, one could almost forget about the world and all its many troubles. We're already looking forward to hopefully dining there in December. In every sense, The Ritz is in a league of its own.
04/11/2020: After months of lockdown and various attempt in booking this restaurant on the dates we wanted, finally we managed to get into before another lockdown. The excitement and adrenaline pumping into our bodies and the overall experience was a bit of a let down. High expectation and pride of walking into an institution so famous and highly figured amongst the elite. Maybe due to the virus who has taken the hedge out of this visit, we found (a) the welcoming and (b) the food was mediocre among the top hotels of the 5 star market. We found lots of staffs on duty (again probably due to lockdown) and far too many! Staff ratio one staff to one guest?? To be seen.... we had limited choice of starter, main course and dessert. Just three of each. Bread roll was of highest quality,Starter we chose seabream. Looked great and we expected to be hot, but it wasnt!Main: one lamb cutlet and one salmon, both below par. Food warm, sauce cold, aubergine cool, Salmon was not as a fillet but tasted as mousse and wife left half of it. We were asked how the meal was just as we ended and put down the cutleries, if only someone arrived earlier we would have said to do something without making obvious to other guest in the vicinity!Desert: chocolate souffle was outstanding, tasty and looked good.Chocolate praline was also flavoursome, good and very tasty. Very pleasant staff, very professionals and majority from Italy which was an icing on the cake because we felt at home away from home.

Galvin La Chapelle

Spitalfields and Banglatown, Tower Hamlets
08/11/2020: The best of welcomes and the most amazing architecture met us on one of the last evenings before lockdown 2.We were instantly made comfortable by everyone we met and each of our SEVEN courses was delicious. There was no 'fussiness or 'preciousness' that you may associate with some Michelin establishments...and despite all the servers wearing masks, we were kept informed all the way throughout our meal.Thank you to Sarah, Franco and everyoneFran and Stu
01/11/2020: We had a fantastic meal at this great restaurant. Very attentive service from superb staff. Really nice surroundings and atmosphere. Cannot fault anything and we will return. Thanks Galvin La Chapelle team for looking after us.
