28/06/2020: Our takeaway dinner was delicious & enjoyed by both of us. A taste treat, something missing since lockdown. Welldone to Elisabeth & Yves for our meal eaten outside on a lovely summer evening. I look forward to repeating it again the crepes are scrumptious! Thank you Liz
27/06/2020: Delicious lunch from their set menu. Well prepared and beautifully packed up to takeout. Fantastic to see this fine restaurant doing takeaways at this difficult time

La Flambe Restaurant

Kington, Wiltshire
29/03/2020: Again thank you as always for a wonderful lunch. Had the lamb which tasted gorgeous and excellent service too. Thank you
16/03/2020: Food and service were excellent. The set menu had a lovely range of options and was enjoyed by everyone.

L'amuse Bouche Restaurant

Priory, Malvern Hills
16/03/2020: Came for a family birthday. We had a nice table in the window looking out onto the bridge and waterfall.. There is a very nice ambience hereTheir trademark amuse bouche was a beef one in a porcelain eggshell. Very tasty.I started with the quail. Very good flavour. For my main I had beef fillet. Good quality meat, cooked well. The veg parcel was beyond al dente, a bit hard. Still quite a pleasant meal.A white chocolate dessert was quite nice.
12/03/2020: Though we didnt stay at the hotel, we ate at the restaurant. We started in the lounge and looked at the menus adn the wine list, and after talking to the host, we chose a wonderful bottle of Italian wine, very smooth silky and full bodied. The restaurant knew that my wife was vegan and I didnt eat red meat, but there were options on the main menu that were perfect anyway. My wife had a starter with beetroot and a main with a colourful array of vegetables. I had the scallops and then the halibut, both tasty and beautifully presented. We even had dessers of creme brulee and a sorbet - on top of an amuse bouche, hot bread and butter (churned by the hotel - one with marmite which I love) another bottle of wine and a glass of port or two, we had a great meal and waddled off home happy. Very friendly place, superb food and I loved the informality of the marmite butter - even though the place looks quite posh, that, and a lot of other little touches, made it feel much more homely and welcoming. My wife already wants to go back, and stay there next time.

Maison Bleue Restaurant

Abbeygate, St Edmundsbury
18/03/2020: would definitely recommend to everyone. one of the best restaurants for food and service I have ever had. Just can't believe how blown away I was by everything and amazing value for money. so so so good. thank you to everyone there.
14/03/2020: The best restaurant in Suffolk without a doubt. Small but perfectly formed restaurant. Beautiful food wonderful staff. Will return soon.

Samphire Seafood Restaurant

Mid Argyll, Argyll & Bute
23/05/2020: So like everyone else on the planet during the lockdown, we’re completely fed up cooking and not being able to eat out. Samphire come along and save the day, offering delicious take away food.We had the fish & chips, and it was the best we’ve ever had. Light and crisp batter on the lovely flaky fish, gorgeous chips and the most amazing pea purée and tartare sauce on the side. They have organised this service so well, you must order on line (or by phone) and they then allocate a time slot within your preferred hour. You then simply go in the restaurant and pay for your order when you pick it up. As would be expected from a restaurant of this standard, all necessary social distancing and safety measures were in place, and i was greeted so warmly by Laura, the front of house manager. They genuinely appreciated the business and at the moment, more than ever,it is vital to support local businesses. We can thoroughly recommend Samphire and urge you to try their amazing food. Maybe check out their website or social media as they are not doing takeaway every day - they advertise when they’re doing it. Thank you to everyone at Team Samphire for the delicious meal and also for offering us some normality at this difficult time.
19/03/2020: Went here today for lunch during the height of the worlds corona virus. We were only people in the place for duration of our meal which was quality. Lovely venue and waitresses who were polite, knowledgeable and friendly. I got cod wrapped in pancetta, wife got 1/2 lobster which was bumped up to full lobster at no extra cost as owner felt they were on small side. Waitresses were chatty and kind to my chatty daughter, all in Very happy with our lunch, highly recommend.

Quite Simply French

Castle, Lancaster, 45-60£
07/04/2020: Came here as a late valentines day visit. Food was absolutely delicious, service was fantastic. There is parking on the road outside but not much, can see it being a problem on a very busy day, but for us it was fine. The room had a nice atmosphere. Enjoyed very much.
07/04/2020: This is our favorite restaurant. The food is varied and delicious. The service is friendly and helpful. We always have an excellent time and wonderful food.

Restaurant 27

St Jude, Portsmouth, 60-100£
09/03/2020: We love Restaurant 27 and have been for an anniversary since my last review, which was for my husband's birthday. We had never taken either of our sons though. That changed when our son turned 21 and we took him to celebrate. We were a bit worried, as he was unsure to start with, but he ended up loving the 7-course tasting menu that my husband and I always enjoy. It was all delicious- the celery sorbet and the wonderful fish dishes- great range of flavours, imaginatively put together.
09/03/2020: The menu was tough to get through with a tasting menu or an extended tasting menu, a simple choice. We opted for paired wines with the extended menu for one with two glasses. We had a driver! It was wonderful theatre and exquisite flavours. The wine waitress gave clear and concise descriptions of each wine and the reason they had been chosen for each course. Very impressive and will definitely return.

The Guildhall Tavern

Poole Town, Poole, >100£
06/06/2020: Well what can I say. We would usually have our anniversary meal in this great restaurant. However during lockdown they started doing takeaway. So glad they did great meal delivered and even gave us a complimentary bottle of wine much appreciated. Food was just as good as what they serve in the restaurant.
27/05/2020: We took advantage of the home delivery courtesy of Frederic and Severin for a second time... this time cold crab to follow some spicy calamari. The food on both occasions has been second to none but having eaten at their restaurant we are not at all surprised. Try them if you can!

La Belle Epoque

Heathrow Villages, Hillingdon, 60-100£
11/04/2020: The restaurant is incrible from the decor style, great service of attendants to amazing food. I was delighted by the treatment I received and delicious food. I will certainly eat there again if I stay at Sofitel... But it is worth going there if you are around Terminal 5 at Heathrow. The waiter who served me was Andrei and was amazing. Great work and company. Thank you all La Belle Epoque staff.
19/03/2020: Found myself in this restaurant on a Saturday night before a Sunday flight. Despite sitting on my own, I didn't feel out of place. Excellent service from all members of staff. The food was beautiful, central London restaurant quality without a central London price. Can't make a criticism of any part of my visit.

Cafe Marlayne

City Centre, Edinburgh, City of

Amelie Flammekueche

Market, Cambridge
15/03/2020: It is still such a great place. The quality of the dishes they serve is second to none. I have brought some friends to make them try this place and they love it. They are now regular.
03/03/2020: We have been meaning to visit since Amelie opened and took the opportunity last Saturday. We were there with our three grandsons. The kids were given the usual, but highly appreciated, fun sheets and pencils as soon as we were seated. The menu offered a short choice of starters but we went straight in with the mains! The Flam Kuche reminded me of being in the Artois. The choice was interesting, with pulled pork and also lamb flamkucher with vegan and gluten free also. We plumped for the traditional, crime fraiche, bacon and lardons. It was excellent, crisp and flavoursome. The children either built there own or had the three cheese. All lovely. A nice selection of puddings were available including the best sticky toffee pud I have ever eaten. There is a small, but interesting, booze list. The service was, at first, a bit chaotic, but soon sorted itself out, the people are lovely. We will be going back. Oh, they do a mean espresso as well.

Le Gavroche

West End, City of London,Westminster
31/03/2020: We were an hour late and wearing rugby shirts but this didn’t bother staff in the slightest, they welcomed us kindly without a side wards glance. As for the food what can I say no words describe it but above all the cheese soufflé (sounds less exiting couldn’t be more wrong) completely blew my mind, thank you!
16/03/2020: We went with friends for my wife's birthday and were impressed. Affectionately known to our friend, who has eaten then for 40 years, as "Gavvers" this was our first visit.Reservations become available for the lunch menu 3 months in advance and are gone within minutes and one can see why because for £76 including vat and service, three courses, canapes, an amuse bouche, coffee and mignardises plus a half bottle of good wine each this is, in this day and age, a bargain. We had a game pasty with honeyed celeriac to start which was divine followed by the best pork I have ever eaten with a sage sauce and onion puree. Desert was an old 70's classic Rum Baba but like no other and unlike anything I have had before or likely to have again served with pineapple and vanilla cream. The cheese board which a couple of friends opted for was spectacular and of a quality you normally only see in France.Service was professional, friendly but not familiar and seeing Michel Junior doing the rounds of the tables was a nice touch. It shows confidence in the staff and respect for the clients. The basement restaurant itself has a warm cosy feel which would perhaps be best appreciated at night as on a sunny day it was perhaps a bit dark and gloomy. There is a bar upstairs for pre meal drinks and it would be easy to simply walk past outside as the frontage is very discreet. We rarely visit London but when we do we would love to go again. Thanks for a great time to all involved and our sympathies for the recent loss of Michel senior.

Wedgwood The Restaurant

City Centre, Edinburgh, City of, 45-60£
17/02/2020: Weekend trip to Edinburgh with the family. Great atmosphere and very good food We enjoyed a lovely meal with a few pints
14/02/2020: Lovely little restaurant, wonderful food and a perfect host in Lisa who made our evening. She moved us because of a draft, gave us personal guidance on wine and was so helpful and patient with our party. Everyone enjoyed the evening immensely which was down to her amazing front of house skills. Thank you Lisa!

Cafe Tabou

Perth City Centre, Perth & Kinross
30/03/2020: Went to celebrate here with my bf. Had a shared steak, served beautifully on a hot stone with gorgeously tasty vegetable sides. The steak itself was mouthwateringly tender and cooked just as we'd asked. The butter sauce I had with it was perfect.
14/03/2020: Excellent food and wine we really enjoyed this restaurant I’d say the best in Perth. Lovely food and service.

Gauthier Soho

West End, City of London,Westminster, 60-100£
29/06/2020: I used this restaurant so many times over the last a couple of years. First a couple of times were fine. However their quality has been getting worse in the last 1-2 years. Especially after they pushed to sell discounted meal vouchers. In addition, their services were very rude for non white customers. This is very clear indeed and not acceptable. Whenever I go there with my husband who is white, they give me quite different service compared to being with my Asian friends. especially seating!!! They always try to give better service to whites. I complained to the floor manager about teir rudeness based on racism once, but he was very rude indeed. Since then I did not visit them. If you are not white or do not have any good discounted voucher, I do not recommend this restaurant at all.
15/03/2020: had to book (online) at 6.30 or 9.00 on a Friday evening. Half empty. People coming in at 7 and 7.30. Smart casual dress code. Some other cusomets looked like they'd come in from a ramble! The place can't make up it's mind if it's traditional or trendy. Had the 8 course tasting menu. The food is good but not great. Two dishes had a seeafoodsoup/bisque sauce. Flavour of scallops in one was overwhelmed. Carrot (grated at table) as first course with chopped onion, tomato etc was a bit embrarassing. The best bit was the wine pairings ... they were really good. I sensed Gauthier is living on past glories/reviews.
