Gauthier Soho

West End, City of London,Westminster, 60-100£
18/08/2018: We have just returned home from my birthday lunch. We had the 8 course tasting menu which could not be faulted. The warm welcome, ambience and outstanding food made it a pleasurable experience. The staff are fantastic and great care was taken to offer a slightly varied dish or two to avoid food allergies (thank you Gauthier). You eat each course and just when you feel you have had your favourite course you are presented with a taste experience that beats the previous one! From a summer melon soup to spicy fennel and finally chocolate deserts the taste experience just goes from strength to strength. Why go anywhere else when you can get such atmosphere, beautiful taste experiences, good service and value for money.
17/08/2018: This has to be the best value restaurant for lunch in the centre of London! We had the classic 5 course tasting menu which we updated to include wine pairing. What a treat for the tastebuds! From the lobster ravioli, delectable truffle risotto, stone bass, Barbary duck and lovely dessert it was a treat for the pallet. Couple that with elegantly selected wines to match the flavours of the food and we were in seventh heaven!

Maison Bleue Restaurant

Abbeygate, St Edmundsbury
20/08/2018: We took good friends and ate lunch here for the second time this year. The whole experience was wonderful. Our friends eat out a good deal and said they are sure they wouldn't have had better food, service and atmosphere anywhere. It is a real treat to eat here as the food is extra special and the service second to none. I am sure we will return.
19/08/2018: Quite simply, a stunning restaurant with some of the best food I have eaten in a long while and at a remarkable price for this quality. The set lunch is three courses for under £30, although there is an extra £5 if you want to sample the extensive cheese trolley.

Samphire Seafood Restaurant

Mid Argyll, Argyll & Bute
19/08/2018: Nice meal and we were lucky enough to be able to book a day ahead - other visitors turned up hungry and there was no space. Local restaurants have very early eating times - 5pm-8.30pm opening is not unusual.)
18/08/2018: Visited whilst on holiday with my husband and children. Food wonderful, the lobster, mussels, oysters, fish and chips and fish stew all perfect. Staff were lovely and very accommodating. Definately recommend!

Lansdown, Cheltenham
21/08/2018: Went here for a birthday dinner with my husband. Everything was just perfect. The ambience is relaxed, but with proper attention to detail with gleaming glasses on white table linen. The all French service was attentive without being fussy, in the best style of those who know that this is a skilled job, and the meal was served at the relaxed pace that allows you to really enjoy the evening. And wow the food - all delicious. Beautifully presented but not pretentious, this is cooking by a skilled chef, with perfectly cooked fish and delicious intense sauces. We were lucky enough to have the use of a flat in Paris for three years, and this is the restaurant that we were seeking but never found there! Finished by sharing an outstanding crème brûlée complete with candle and inscribed with Bon Anniversaire. Lovely touch. Lucky Cheltenham to have this superb restaurant and I only wished I lived closer!
20/08/2018: Went here with friends during a visit to Cheltenham. We were seated in the restaurant upstairs which was very well appointed. The service was very good - very friendly and informative and grateful for our poor attmepts at French. Food was very good and creative - we enjoyed it very much.

Restaurant 27

St Jude, Portsmouth, 60-100£
28/08/2018: I think this must be one of the best in whole of Hampshire has to offer....The moment we stepped into the restaurant one would think you could be anywhere in central London!
27/08/2018: We had a warm welcome and seated quickly. We chose the 10 course tasting menu and everything was lovely from the drinks to the perfect food and each course was explained. The restaurant ran like clockwork, however we didn't once feel we were being rushed. Can fully recommend.

Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons

Great Milton, South Oxfordshire, >100£
18/08/2018: Since seeing Raymond Blanc on television I had always wanted to go to his restaurant. I was not disappointed. The setting of the manor house and the gardens is like a stage set with manicured lawns and flourishing vegetables. The staff are very attentive but not irritating. We had the non vegetarian tasting menu. Unfortuntely the whole table have to choose the same menu - I would love to have tried the vegetarian tasting menu but felt it was mean to impose it on my husband. This was my main reservation about the experience. We had five courses which were about the right size. My first course was superb [risotto of garden vegetables] and was swapped from main menu for the scallop course. My final course of an apricot dessert was delicious. The middle courses were less exciting - the cod was bland, the egg course a bit salty and the lamb too fatty - though this is quibbling as the whole meal was extremely good. Definitely a one off treat to remember.
17/08/2018: We took the garden tour and lunch. It was perfect in every way. For the garden tour there were only six of us and the gardener was excellent at explaining everything and answering questions. We were spoken to by Raymond Blanc. Canapes and drinks were followed by a superb lunch. The service was perfect and one was made to feel welcome.

La Boheme

Lymm, Warrington
29/08/2018: Staff: really friendly yet professional
29/08/2018: My husband and I have dined at La Boheme several times prior to our most recent visit and it has always been flawless. Unfortunately I left feeling a little disappointed this time round.

Chez Roux

Dunblane and Bridge of Allan, Stirling
02/09/2018: We chose the set lunch and found the food to be excellent and the service to be attentive, professional and friendly.
21/08/2018: Came up from Bristol to take family and old friends out for Champagne Tea on 50th Wedding Anniversary. Had a great time for 11 people, most taking the champagne and being very impressed with the wine. Lovely food and excellent service, quietly attentive.

Cheese & Cheers

St Jude, Portsmouth, >100£
16/08/2018: Popped into this little shop in Southsea whilst on a day trip from our holidays on the Isle of Wight. Menu is limited and all French cheese based. To be honest I loved it and my wife hated it. Food was superb and service excellent. One for the maybe again list.
16/08/2018: Cheese and Cheers is a lovely little restaurant. We asked a member of staff for advice on what to order, he was extremely friendly and helpful, making sure the cheese they were going to bring out to us was to our preference and taste. The cheeses came out on one big board with meats, chutneys and other garnishes. We also had basket of white and brown bread which were delicious and soft. When the cheese came out a lady talked us through what each cheese was, where it originated from and what order to eat it in for the best taste. All the cheese we tried were delicious! I would highly recommend this restaurant not only for the quality of the food but also because of the attentive and welcoming staff.

Waterside Inn

Bray, Windsor and Maidenhead, >100£
27/08/2018: Always the same superb food and service. Whether the simply excellent taster menu which comes at a michelin price or the relatively good value lunch one thing is for certain no-one leaves disappointed.
27/08/2018: Just awesome.. the set menu almost makes the price bearable. Simple touches all the time which turn a 3 course meal into a dining experience.

The Guildhall Tavern

Poole Town, Poole, >100£
27/08/2018: Booked a private room for my wedding it was lovely the table was laid out and we all had a lovely time- the service was great and the food was excellent I would recommend trying this restaurant we have booked to go again for our 1st Anniversary

Michael Wignall at The Latymer

3 offers
Bagshot, Surrey Heath, 60-100£
29/08/2018: I decided to surprise my husband with a stay at Pennyhill for his birthday. Part of the room rate was dinner at The Latymer. What an absolute treat from start to finish. The staff were exceptional, attentive and knowledgable, the wine was amazing and the food was just phenomenal. We got completely immersed in the whole experience and ambiance of the restaurant and my husband felt very spoilt. Keep up the good work!!
28/08/2018: We have have been here a number of times over the years . The room is great with a nice atmosphere . This latest incarnation under Matt worswick is fantastic . The attention to detail was fantastic - the staff very attentive and exceptional value for a restaurant of this class.

Restaurant Martin Wishart

1 offer
Leith, Edinburgh, City of
16/08/2018: Had a wonderful lunch with friends during the Edinburgh Festival (having booked two months in advance). The 3 course lunch menu at £32 is superb, including amuse bouche and they also have some petit fours at the end of lunch despite not ordering tea/coffee. The quality of the food was superb and whilst the daily changing lunch menu choices were limited they were excellent. Vichyssoise with a tempura oyster with a light curry seasoning, beautifully prepared Gigha halibut and also a delicious and moist lamb rump. Deserts were superb too.

St Benedicts Restaurant

Mancroft, Norwich, 30-45£
16/08/2018: This place is a staple if visiting Norwich. Lovely staff, food and restaurant. Definitely recommend.
16/08/2018: My wife and I had a fantastic lunch here today. As we set off to leave we noticed our car tyre was completely flat so we had to take it to a garage and get it repaired which delayed us getting there by 45 mins, we arrived after their last service. Thanks to Gemma and the kitchen for waiting for us. I’m so glad we managed to make it as we had a lovely meal. We ordered the quail and curried courgette soup, followed by mains of duck and hake and then desserts of Eaton mess and trifle. We also couldn’t resist ordering a portion of their doughnuts with chocolate sauce. We throughly enjoyed every course including the cheesy snacks they brought us first. All the dishes were cooked and presented really well and tasted great. I’m not a fan of trifle but Nanny Bush’s trifle was superb, it’s definitely the best trifle I’ve ever had and my wife loved her Eaton mess. We took along our son and they had a kids menu which he selected a couple of dishes from. The staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was really good.

14/08/2018: This is belated because my original post did not upload - as it not here?
14/08/2018: Fancy restaurant in a fancy location; great for a splurge. I wanted to order a Grey Goose on the rocks but was told it wasn't fancy enough; Stoli Elite instead. Worked for me.
