Samphire Seafood Restaurant

Mid Argyll, Argyll & Bute
21/10/2019: Our waitresses were so friendly and the food was good. We enjoyed a delicious meal here on one of our last nights in Scotland. It was great to have some local seafood. I would definitely recommend this to visitors.
19/10/2019: This was an exceptional lunch with seafood of the highest quality. The service was attentive and the only problem was what to choose. That feeling when another tables meal sails bay and you think that looks really nice. Another trip is called for.

Maison Bleue Restaurant

Abbeygate, St Edmundsbury
20/10/2019: We were in a party of 10 and were welcomed immediately. The welcome sparkling wine and the white and red wines recommended were in all cases excellent. The starter, main course and dessert, chosen from the fixed price menu, were of a very high standard and well presented. I had swordfish followed by pork and a lemon tartlet, all delicious. Service was excellent. We will surely return!
20/10/2019: Excellent in everything Service, Exceptional FOOD & Good Wines & with a wide selection of Cheeses Great experience due to wonderful attentive young people proud to serve you in (“their”)Restaurant

Quite Simply French

Castle, Lancaster, 45-60£
21/10/2019: Visited my son for his 21st birthday whilst he’s at uni and he wanted to try QSF having heard good reports. We were not disappointed. What a lovely way to celebrate his birthday with great service, wonderful atmosphere and perfectly prepared and cooked food.
19/10/2019: Absolutely stunning! We stayed in the Ashton Suite...from the chandeliers to the rain sensitive windows...from the free standing bath (which of course I had to take advantage of ! ) to the mood lighting ..from the riverside view to the underfloor heating....and that bed is oh so comfy!! Everything was more than perfect ! The room was spotlessly clean and the attention to detail impeccable ! We were

The Guildhall Tavern

Poole Town, Poole, >100£
20/10/2019: We went here for my friends birthday and we cannot fault the whole experience. All the staff were friendly and lovely. Everyone really enjoyed the food, the wine was really nice and the staff knew their wines. There was no delay in the service and the nice touches they do for your birthday are extra special. I won’t ruin the surprise by writing what they do but it made the eve for our birthday girl.
19/10/2019: Thanks to all the staff who produced our exquisite dinner tonight, 19th October 2019. Most worthy of a celebration.

Truffles French Restaurant

Fareham East, Fareham, 20-30£
08/10/2019: Visited on a Wednesday evening with only another two tables in use. A pity as this is a restaurant worth supporting. First they stay open on evenings when business is poor. Full marks for doing so and offering the same level of service and food as at the weekend. It's owned I discovered by speaking with the lady serving, by her and her partner. She provided professional discreet service. Second, the cooking is not "wow", but sometimes that is not what is needed. It is however professionally prepared and presented with obviously fine ingredients and in portion sizes that are well judged. Seasoning was on point. The Wine list is thoughtful and very fairly priced. The restaurant itself is appealing in size, layout and decor. Good for a business meal, family or a romantic meal. Lots to recommend here: just restauranteering ( if there is such a word) done well and with a helping of love. Needs more customers.
29/09/2019: I have wanted to try this restaurant for ages and last night my partner surprised me by booking a table. The service was super friendly and at a really nice pace. I had the lamb breast with barley to start and the beef with a dolcelatte sauce for main. All was exceptional, especially the beef that came rare as requested. The wine list was good and not overpriced. We had a great evening and booked for their November Game evening while we was there. Cant wait to return.

Gauthier Soho

West End, City of London,Westminster, 60-100£
21/10/2019: My husband and I visited this restaurant to experience the vegan tasting menu and it certainly didn't disappoint.
20/10/2019: Great company and food. The cauliflower risotto and venison were wonderful. Lovely setting and relaxing dining. The waiters were attentive but a little forgetful. Would recommend Gauthier as a great experience.

Deganwy, Conwy
07/10/2019: We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at The Paysanne on Friday night. We both enjoyed the French Onion soup to start. Lisa's main course was the Sea Bass and I enjoyed the Guinea Fowl. The service was excellent and the atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed and sophisticated. Having not been to the Paysanne for quite a few years, I'm pleased to report that the quality of the food and the service is as good as ever.
06/10/2019: What a delight this restaurant is. Its not a particularly large restaurant & thats what adds to the ambiance of this warm welcoming place to eat. Make sure you book your table, because you wouldn’t want to miss this restaurant. We went for the Sunday roast, so it was only open for a short period of time. The food/wine & service on offer is excellent

La Trompette

Turnham Green, Hounslow, 60-100£
19/10/2019: Dining with another couple, all of us commented how over the years, we have never experienced an average meal at La Trompette, as we all agreed the food is consistently delicious. Friendly but professional service, a room with a bit of a buzz but not so loud that you can’t have a conversation always makes for an enjoyable evening. Although many of the diners are local, it is worth making the trip out of central London. We dined from the a la carte menu - loved the suckling pig, mushroom soup, sweet corn agnolotti and the guinea hen. For dessert, we enjoyed a very indulgent apple soufflé and as always we had a selection from the cheese trolley.
13/10/2019: Such an enjoyable meal here, celebrating my birthday with the family. What sets La Trompette apart is the excellent customer service and attention to detail. And of course the food is top class. Well done in maintaining this high level.

Cafe Marlayne

City Centre, Edinburgh, City of
16/10/2019: It was our first night in Edinburgh. We arrived late afternoon and was not able to make reservations for our party of 8. After trying to get a table at the more popular restaurants on Thistle street, we were lucky to find separate tables in this charming cozy French restaurant. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. We had the Caesar salad, mussels in white wine cream sauce, rack of lamb, and seabass. We could not help notice the singular lady serving all the tables who was really fast in attending to raised hands, serving the food and welcoming new guests. Her smile never faded. She was like Wonder Woman! I failed to get her name but a big thank you for a wonderful welcome in your beautiful city! Highly recommend!
15/10/2019: We were there on a busy night. (It looks like this restaurant is always busy!) The energetic and pleasant staff kept everything moving along at a good pace while serving excellent food from a short list of interesting sounding dishes. Though the small room was crowded, the noise level was pleasant, not overwhelming. Everyone seemed to be having an excellent meal. We certainly did.

Restaurant 27

St Jude, Portsmouth, 60-100£
20/10/2019: Have been here many times and always been amazed at the quality of the food and imaginative presentation. On this occasion I was very disappointed. The food was distinctly mediocre and several courses felt as if they were there simply to fill us up! The hunks of tasteless bread with a salty brown butter made to look like marmite, being one of them. Staff as always delightful but food definitely not as good as it has been in the past- maybe they have a new chef?? In short our table of 7 rated our evening 5/10.

Yalbury Cottage

Charminster and Cerne Valley, West Dorset, 30-45£
13/10/2019: We had a fabulous weekend celebrating my mother's 90th birthday, with a warm welcome when we arrived, comfortable accommodation for 17 of us plus 3 dogs, and 2 excellent dinners for 23, the first informal with platters of cold meats, local cheeses and pickles, the second more formal, with especial mention for the excellent venison. As we had taken over the cottage, Ariane went to great trouble to allow us to do what we wanted, and I hope we were not too noisy when playing games after dinner! Thank you very much, my mother and all of us had a wonderful weekend.
06/10/2019: We have just returned from out 3rd visit to Yalbury and we were not disappointed. Ariane and Jamie run a fabulous restaurant with rooms. Really comfortable and so much to do and see in the area but the star attraction is the food. Varied and tasty breakfasts and wonderful evening meals. We shall definitely return for our fourth visit next year!

Le Gavroche

West End, City of London,Westminster
20/10/2019: Wow, what can I say... the food was incredible and service outstanding.
20/10/2019: I was taken here as a treat and had the tasting menu with wine, in excess of £270 each - so you would think it would live up to its name but it was (with a couple of exceptions) just like eating at a high street chain restaurant. First dish was a cheese souffle and it just tasted of cheap Extra Mature cheddar. The following course was mackerel and beetroot - bland and tasteless, I had to add salt. It looked and tasted to me like it had all been sitting in a fridge until service. Next was one of the good dishes, scallops, really tasty. Trout was next, again bland and pointless. Then it was pork cheek with an amazing sauce, really good - but let down by the completely dried up pieces of chilli that lent nothing to the dish. Venison was good. Question: why are they putting cards advertising the latest cook book on the table? Made the table look like nandos tbh. Wine pairing was amazing, so was the service in general - except the cheese course service, he looked so tired and pissed off I just asked for the minimum amount - which turned out to be a good thing because the cheese hadn't been stored properly, it was all stored on one big cart, all cheeses together, in the open ALL NIGHT so all flavour from the different cheeses completely gone. Honestly, I wouldn't go back here. For this kind of money you have the absolute pick of far superior places.

La Belle Epoque

Heathrow Villages, Hillingdon, 60-100£
15/10/2019: Staying at an airport hotel normally means a bad experience from a food perspective.
14/10/2019: what a treat near Heathrow! If you are staying near the airport, and you are a foodie, I don't think there is another option, this is a great one!

Clos du Marquis

Wonston and Micheldever, Winchester
24/09/2019: I cannot recommend Clos du Marquis highly enough. The quality of food is consistently superb, the wine selection is outstanding and the service is always attentive and convivial. Absolutely my family's favourite restaurant in this area. The small menu changes frequently and is never a letdown. The depth of flavour in the sauces is exquisite. I have never had a dubious meal at Clos du Marquis. I wish the crepe suzettes were a permanent though - outstanding. Booking advised.
24/09/2019: Absolutely superb. Food is always exquisite, wine options are superb and service is always exceptional. Highly recommended.
