Journeys in Eastbourne

I rarely bother to write a review...but... We took a last-minute table at the excellent Journeys Restaurant. Everything was fantastic! The front-of-house team were welcoming, charming and on point, helping with recommendations for dishes and wines. Excellent selection of interesting wines and beers. The food was delightful and perfectly portioned, not too much, not too little. Highlights were the scallops and the raclette potatoes. Nicely priced meal and I will definitely be back again soon.

This fantastic little restaurant must be Eastbourne’s best hidden gem! Both food and service are superb. Great selection of wines too…. Thank you so much for a five star dining experience!

Eastbourne has always struggled when it comes to "fine dining" but my first visit to Journeys was a real treat and I can see why no-one seems to have a bad word to say about it. The menu choices are imaginative without being pretentious or overpriced. Marina takes charge of front of house with great enthusiasm and professionalism and was prepared to go "off piste" when I asked for a Vesper Martini which wasn't on the set cocktail menu. The four course tasting menu was a delight and the matching wines complemented the food wonderfully well. I can't wait to make a return visit.

As annual visitors to Eastbourne we missed Journeys last time and they have now been open for eighteen months. Run by two charming ladies with a great track record we dined on a quiet night. The four course tasting menu at £52.25 was terrific and we settled for the all fish option. Everything was as it should have been and we were most impressed. There is a strong interest in wine here and the list is eclectic and good value for money, our Sicilia "orange wine" was a great match and very good value too. This has to be one of the best in Eastbourne for high level dining and we look forward to returning.

This is a very good restaurant. Wanted to try for ages as we had heard so many great recommendations about Journeys. Everything about this place is superb - the warm welcome, the amazing food -quality and presentation were first class - and all wine and beer were very good too. Beautifully looked after by a duo of very knowledgeable and professional ladies. Can’t wait to come back!

We celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary here and went for the Taster Menu. Four courses for around £50. Very fair considering the quality of the dishes. The lamb main and the dessert deserve special mention but the two seafood starters were also excellent. Very friendly and quick service but with a relaxed vibe and with a real personal touch from both the waitress and co-owner of the business (all the way from Malta and Bordeaux respectively). I'd highly recommend this for a special lunch or dinner with a relaxed and intimate vibe. 18 months into their business journey and I wish them the very best of luck.

I have heard good things about this restaurant and visited for the first time yesterday and all I can say is that it fully lived up to the very high expectations as everything was fantastic. I could not fault the food, ambiance, service or anything and I look forward to visiting again very soon.

I have had the pleasure of eating here three times so far - once for lunch, once with a large group of friends and once with my husband to celebrate my birthday. Each time the food and service has been outstanding. Marina is the perfect host and makes everyone feel extremely welcome. She has a superb knowledge of wine and is happy to recommend something to accompany your meal. The chef, Amy, is a genius in the kitchen - all of the food is freshly cooked to order and is excellent quality. There is a wide menu to choose from - small plates or main meals. This is now my favourite restaurant in Eastbourne.

Lovely lunch with the girls! Shared 8 plates of their tapas style dishes. All very yummy. Recommend the baked cheese. Reasonable priced.

Journeys is a little oasis in Eastbourne. Small but perfectly formed!! A warm welcome always. Delicious food, especially the sharing plates .. raclette and potatoes; and the one with truffles ..mmmm!! Lamb and steak are also cooked and seasoned perfectly. Always a wonderful experience at Journeys, having been recommended by family I have since been and introduced friends to this little gem in Eastbourne and am so glad we have it! Marina and Amy do such a wonderful job of looking after everyone that comes through their door, never short of a warm, entertaining and indulgent experience when visiting 😄

This is a friendly and welcoming little place. They offer a mix of sharing, small plates and larger full plates. We had a sharing seafood platter and three small plates all of which were superb. The wine list is also excellent.

Cannot recommend highly enough! Delicious lunch with extensive wine selection. Thoroughly enjoyed the sharing plates, especially the crab, prawns and pigeon dishes. Marina and Amy you are a fabulous team, we wish you every success!

Have just the most wonderful experience at Journeys. Marina and Amy give the most warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble. 14 of us for lunch and highly recommend all the dishes on the menu. A very good choice of dishes prepared and cooked to perfection by Amy. Marina at front of house is a delight. Fabulous personality and extremely good at meeting and greeting and making sure you have everything you need. Journeys Wine Bar is an experience not to be missed. Highly recommend. Visiting Eastbourne for the first time we came across this restaurant on trip advisor and am so pleased we booked a table. So welcoming, great ambience to restaurant. The menu was interesting and imaginative. Marina was extremely knowledgeable about the food and the wines and what an amazing chef Amy is. Nothing was too much trouble. The only down side is we don’t live locally as if we did this would definitely be a place to keep returning too. Thank you for a great evening!

Me and my partner went there for his 30th birthday. Marina, Amy and team were simply phenomenal. It is our second time dining at journeys and we were not disappointed. After recommendations from Marina on the food and wine we decided to have a couple of the small plates to share and each of them were delicious ranging from the signature scallops to the tofu with aubergine. I would highly recommend visiting journeys. The experience and the passion behind this restaurant is second non. It is a really special restaurant. Marina And Amy have a wealth of experience that creates the perfect dining experience. (Please ask for recommendations on both the wine and food as they hit the nail on the head) 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

One of the most relaxed meals out in a long time. Food was delicious and all freshly made. Menu is limited but the quality is superb. Service is excellent. It’s great to support a small independent place which delivers on all levels.

A huge disappointment. We were really looking forward to eating at Journey's. The food was actually very good, helped by a pleasant Chenin blanc to wash it down. Why not 5 stars? Because we were kept waiting far too long for our first course - the restaurant was only 20% full when we ordered. To cap this we were then kept waiting nearly an hour for our second course. Completely and utterly unacceptable. A further criticism was that the tables were far too small - our waitress really struggling to get our order in front of us. We are not in the habit of writing bad reviews as can be seen from our history - we always read reviews before taking our wallet anywhere but in this case the reviews certainly do not match our experience.

Wow! Journeys never fails fo be the best place to while away a few hours in a place with a great atmosphere, outstanding food and drinks to die for. The lychee martini is next level and Marina's wine knowledge is encyclopaedic and the love and care Amy puts into the food just shows in every mouthful. The relaxed, laid back atmosphere means you are having a fabulous dinner in the best company. You can take your time and enjoy wine, laughter and food without feeling rushed. The best! x

I have visited journeys twice already and I must say it’s always amazing.The food is stunning and fresh, the service and wine recommendation's from the owner is always perfect and always compliments the food.This place is becoming my favourite place to go in Eastbourne! Delicious food, excellent wine and perfect host First time here after reading a review about it winning an award and I’m definitely coming back. We had the set menu (£14 for two courses), an expertly chosen bottle of Viognier and we found room for coffee and chocolate truffles. Marina (your host) is so friendly and welcoming and it was wonderful to go to a restaurant where you genuinely felt that your custom was appreciated. If you’re local or just visiting, go here!
