Bistrot Pierre in Eastbourne

Popped in for dinner, lovely plenty to choose from. Service was good. However, the point of paying the bill was a little lengthy. We had to wait about 20 minutes & to speed things up, we approached the till area

I do love this place but sadly the food was not at their usual standard. We were there at noon and still quiet, and i had the burger this time and i have to admit I've had far better. It was very basic and not alot of taste. So this is a constructive feedback as i will still return and eat there as i do enjoy it

Really nice lunchtime at Bistro Pierre Eastbourne. Excellent service especially from Mia. The dishes were very nicely inventive.

Great view of the sea, attentive staff and delicious food. I had the butternut squash and St Mont cheese tart with new potatoes and aioli, it was lovely.

We have lived in Eastbourne over 15 years and this was our first visit. How did we not come here before?. Fabulous lunch. Great staff. Crème Brûlée was just perfect. We will be regular patrons from now on.

Went for a late afternoon meal for my parents anniversary at the Bistro Pierre. We arrived early and asked if it would be possible to be seated early, the Maitre d was more than happy to show us to a table. We orderd our food which came out promptly and was some of the best we have had over the years. The staff were excellent and very professional, the food and drink excellent and the venue atmosphere make it a fantastic place to eat. The pricing is no more than any other quality restaurant and the time taken for food to arrive was very good.

Having arrived on the off chance asking for a table for 2 on Sunday at 2pm we were told fully booked but the place was only half full , I think they didn't want the business, very poor

We’ve been here several times and the food is pretty good. Not the best French food but tasty enough. Unfortunately the staff are quite overstretched and we’ve repeatedly struggled to get people to take our order or bring us drinks, etc. Most recently we went in without a reservation and were turned away, which is fair enough, only to see the couple immediately behind us, who also didn’t have a reservation, get seated immediately. When we asked the maitre d why they were given priority he was very curt, insisted we had said we only wanted a drink (we didn’t, we were there for lunch), wouldn’t let us wait for a table and then said he was refusing to serve us. It’s a shame as it’s in a great location but we won’t be back.

It's such a pity the service is almost comically slow. It appears to a systematic and has been so since it opened a few years ago. There are always people 'meerkatting' for service and indeed to pay. You could call it relaxed and it would appear that the staff have been told they mustn't rush and get over-hyped, but it is quite annoying when you've been waiting 10+ minutes to give your order or to receive your drinks. It disincentivizes you to order a second drink, or indeed food. The deliberate, systematic ineptitude is also illustrated by the control of menu's at the entry. You queue to be allocated a table but if you say you only want a drink, you can go sit anywhere. Furthermore you're then given a drinks-only menu so you don't get to know about the (delicious) snacks like croquettes. It's such a shame because it's a great location, reasonably priced and the staff are pleasant - just made to work a defective system

Have been here many times and enjoyed the food and have been pleased with the service from an efficient, welcoming and attentive team but on a visit last week we left feeling so disappointed. We waited 25 mins for the food to arrive and when it did, one of the orders was totally wrong. So we waited again and 15 mins later, it arrived, but on cold plates and the food was barely warm. We weren't asked if all was OK or asked if we wanted more drinks etc as usually happens. Once finished, we had to go up to the till to get our bill as we waited 20 mins for a server but no one came over and to finish the visit off, they did not add my loyalty points when we paid, despite taking my phone to scan the QR code. All in all an utter disaster. Did not recognise 1 member of staff this time. All the regulars were missing... not sure if there have been some team changes but something is clearly amiss. Not sure if I want to go back now.

Secound visit to this Bistro. The first time was fot just a coffee qnd quick bite. This prompted the second today as we enjoyed the first time very much. Today was for lunch, again another very enjoyable experience. Gorgeous food, excellent service, lovely atmosphere, especially with the view looking out tosea with large glass windows. If there had been a piano tinkering away in the background, then would have given 5star. First class without being posh. Please, please keep up the good work.

Food ok but I know less is more but rump steak with a dash of sauce and a few stick chips...nah. Also noticed cobwebs and dust on the lights..not good. The acoustics make it very noisy, that or people are just getting louder? The meal came to £ 70 for 2, good value? Not really. Sorry.

What a great experience. We went for my father in laws 60th. Food was amazing. The staff topped the night. Especially Charlie aka Chaz.

The service staff here are especially arrogant and rude, and it creates a really uncomfortable environment. Our server, Debbie, was very rude and unfriendly, she even took the menu from my mum while she was reading it. The food and views are good. Only the manager Raul was a nice man, the other waiters here are some of the worst I've ever encountered and I've traveled the world! This place could really use some nicer, friendlier staff to make it a pleasant place to visit again.

Have a surprise as walking past Bistrot Pierre was not only open at 10am but serving breakfast. Return for our 6th time, this time for the Soirée Gastronomique 6 course menu. Fantastic value for money, along with the wine pairing, was a very enjoyable evening. No photos as started each course before remembering ..

An absolutely beautiful bistro! Beautiful view! Great scones with jam and clottes cream. A bit noisy, but when we got a new table by the window it got better.

Absolutely loved the atmosphere and though it was very busy the staff showed great curtesy and at times humour. Renata was very helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble! We had Moules for lunch.

The food came quickly the chicken liver patè was warm and the sour dough toast was so hard it broke my friend tooth and £300 later she wasn't happy We had the fishcake it was a very strange meal, looked nice but we didn't enjoy it too many red peppers The service was very quick it was the quickest meal I have ever eaten

Lovely Sunday lunch. We all had the roasts they were cooked lovely and very filling. The restaurant was very busy but service didn't slow. All the staff were lovely.

Amazing location, amazing potential but appalling service. Don't waste your money, spend it somewhere that wants and appreciates your business. We arrived mid after And planned to have food but when we asked if they had any tables we got a very abrupt "no" not a no I am sorry just a straight no. There were lots of empty tables so we asked if we could sit at one of them just for drinks until they were needed and were told again very abruptly "they are all booked". We then said what time are they booked from and we're told yet again very rudely "they are just booked ok"! As you can imagine we left and went for drinks and food elsewhere. To cap it all the person that we spoke to had a badge saying Manager!!! Absolutely appalling way to talk to customers, we will never go back and recommend that you don't too!

Great venue. Good prices but average food.

Dress up or down. Go in the sun on the terrace or in the rain and cold and the ambiance is relaxed and stylish. Stunning location facing Beachy Head. Have a coffee, drink or meal. This place fits all needs. The staff are attentive not intrusive and are quick to serve and confirm all is right. Fab to have French food as everything seems to be Italian or Indian. Food is served and created well and you never leave over stodgy full. The Creme Brulee is a wonderful crème with crispy topping. Highly recommended The app is a must as they do great offers and points system. The staff work very hard and are always eager to please. I name some brillant members of the team who are a credit to Bistrot. Raul, Sergio, Mia and Emily are all stars but others I do not see are integral. Pop in to this Sussex Gem and enjoy.

A very good restaurant & waitress Mia was excellent. Endlessly patient & efficient. A throughly enjoyed evening. Will be returning.

Previous visits were enjoyable, the food is good but quite expensive. The last time I went after booking a table we were seated then ignored for half an hour, it wasn't particularly busy and there were plenty of wait staff so it wasn't a staffing issue, there was a Duty Manager sat 2 tables from us seemingly too busy to notice customers being ignored. We left without a bye from anyone. I had booked using the app so got a "how did we do" email. I replied with details and got an email from a Duty Manager "Sorry this happened, we'll look into it, have 25% off your next meal, I gave enough time for her to look into why I was ignored but I haven't had a reply, it feels like it was a copy and paste apology and I don't particularly want to give them the opportunity to let me down again if they haven't bothered to address their failings. I won't be returning.

Been here a few times. Booked before going to theatre yesterday. We were running late but it was no problem at all. We sat outside overlooking the seafront. We wanted to say how lovely Hannah was. Her bubbly personality was lovely to see and she is an asset to your team.

This place is so frustrating: great setting, great food, good value set menu, just so let down every time we come here by the poor service. It starts as soon as you walk in the door, you’re left waiting and waiting. When you eventually get to your table, you’re not offered the set menu, you have to ask for it. Then it always seems like a long time before any waiting staff acknowledge you and take your order. No one ever asks how things are, you have to go out of your way to get attention. Tonight, twice I had to get up and go and ask someone about missing drinks and food. (The waiter outside in the shorts is an exception to the rule, helpful and friendly) The food when it arrives is really good, it’s just such a shame about the consistently poor service and lack of interest in your experience.

Lovely looking place. The ambience is a little noisy due to the large open space with nothing to deaden the sounds that echo throughout. However the staff are friendly and professional. Younger staff needed prompting and could be more attentive as they were slow to come over and ask us for drinks and when they did we were asked if we were ready to order which implied the whole meal even though we had yet to order drinks. We proceeded since it took a little while for them to initially come over. The food was delicious and cooked to a high standard so no complaints there. The price reflects the location, quality of food but at that price I would expect a little better quality service. Maybe some training is needed for the staff to show a little more attention to guests with some enthusiasm as well. I rated mid to high as it was not bad but could be better.

Great restaurant overlooking the sea. I ordered the calamari, gambas, and boeuf bourguignon. The calamari is the best I've had! Highly recommended! Great ambience too, we were lucky to visit at sundown and saw the beautiful moonrise.

What a location. Great venue on such a nice day as today, a surprise September Summery day. The terrace has great views over the sea and the glass surround helps if it’s windy. Good coffee and croissant and a very friendly helpful waitress who made our visit a pleasure. . Recommended.

A wonderful and romantic place for enjoying sightseeing and delicious food🥰

We had dinner here last night and it was amazing. The team were very accommodating when we decided to move from the outside to inside. We both had a 3 course meal, bottle of rose and beer, and everything we had was just perfect. Highly recommend this restaurant! Also went back this morning to the 'bistro rapide' (the little coffee van out the front) and had a takeaway cappuccino at a very reasonable price. Will definitely be back!

Stopped for a drink and some light lunch on Thursday, zero service given had to go back inside to ask for a menu and again to order food, we both chose to have the houmous which was delicious and very well plated. An elderly lady at the end of the patio knocked into a waiter with a tray which saw a jug and a couple glasses broken the waiter very clearly expressed his anger for the duration of our stay here stomping around. Feel sorry for the kitchen staff making the effort on the food when there's zero service front of house!

Lovely location, service needs attention

I’d wanted to write a review about this for years because I think it says a lot about the business. I know I’m holding a grudge but sometimes you just need to get something off your chest haha. When I was 17 I was employed by this restaurant for a few hours to do the border artwork on their biggest chalkboard at the time. The board was many times larger than me and it took about 3 hours to draw on. Once I was finished they said I would get around £30 but not right away because they had to add me to their payroll and do it through that. Sadly they never paid me. My friend who worked at the restaurant at the time prompted them several times but they obviously had no intention to pay me in the first place. I’m not sure whether because I was 17 they didn’t value my time or wether they simply didn’t like what I did, or a mixture of the two. If that’s the case I still think they could’ve paid me for those hours of my life. I know this place is a big business with plenty of money to spare so to take advantage of young people is a very unfair power unbalance. I would’ve thought they could spare £30 to a minor for her work. Obviously not expecting anything in response to this but considering it was a bad experience the least they could do is take a bad review. I heard it was a really unpleasant place to work though that was years ago, fingers crossed it’s changed now 🤞 *Note because I know bad reviews on google don’t do wonders to business ratings and I’m not a nasty person I might delete it as some point because don’t want to cause any harm, I just thought a review would be better than an email because an email would never get a response, lots of love ✌️

As visitors from the USA, my wife and I were recommended to try this Eastbourne restaurant; we ordered the special - the Sunday roast. (We thought it a safe bet.) I have to report that we were disappointed by the meal’s stringy meat, over-cooked potatoes, carrots and the rather indifferent service. Not returning.

Certainly worth a visit if you are in Eastbourne! This restaurant has stunning views and even better food. Even though it was clearly heaving when we went, our server Hannah made sure to speak to us about our trip and even gave some fab recommendations of where to visit in the local area. Will certainly be coming back!

I've been here a few times and every time the food has been wonderful. Definitely recommend. Drinks and food are reasonably priced for the location. Sunday Roast is delicious. You definitely need to book a table as it does get busy.

The manager is very rude and racist! He didn’t allow me to sit at the terrace and asked me to sit inside the restaurant at the back, while other people were showing up without booking allowing them to sit at the terrace! He didn’t even allow me to sit inside the restaurant next to the terrace while it was all vacant..

Delicious and very nice service

Visited Pierre Bistro yesterday with a few of my nearest and dearest, to celebrate my 60th birthday. The staff were very welcoming and polite. There was plenty of space. I'm disabled and have a walker, managed to go straight to the table with no obstacles in my way. The staff were attentive and made sure we had what we wanted. The food was delicious and adequate portions. The staff bought out a birthday cake my daughter had dropped off to them,and they sang along which was a lovely touch. They all said goodbye and happy birthday on our departure. All of us had a lovely evening, and I will definitely book to go again.

We traveled from London to Eastbourne and chose this Very nice place close to the beach, but the service very bad, the waiter was so rude, pur table where we were supposed to seat was dirty, they left the cleaning stuffs on the table, so we did it by ourselves, the waiter came there and started talking bullshit saying that what are you doing, you’re not allowed to do that, otherwise go somewhere else, we replied back calmly that he should thank us not being rude, and he kept talking like that saying that go somewhere else because you are being rude. It seems he didn’t understand that he was the one being rude to us. Change staff and choose the right one because the customers are supposed to have a drink and relax there, that’s why we are paying not talking to us in that way.

I was really looking forward to dinner at this restaurant. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. As soon as our food was served the maitre d' told us we needed to wrap up our dinner in an hour because our table was reserved. Apparently, some guests had reserved an outdoor patio table but changed their reservation and now had our table (inside). I started suggesting us moving to another table (restaurant was pretty empty for a Thursday late afternoon), but the maitre d' walked away. As we were finishing our meal he came back and said he managed to push the reservation. We could stay for another 20 mins (lucky us). At this point we just wanted to pay and leave. I guess it didn't really matter that we were also paying customers and that it was our anniversary dinner. Overall, the food was a little bland and came out lukewarm. The chicken was very dry. The plates were super hot though.

Lovely sea view, and that's it, really. We booked for dinner on a Thursday night at the end of August - a bit of a disappointment. Everything in the restaurant looks dated, from furniture and decoration to the cutlery and glasses. By the look of your website, it's looks more glamours than it is. The service was ok, and the music was quite loud for dinner time in a restaurant. The food was average, to be honest, and for the price,we were expecting better. I had better beef bourguignon in our local pub. In general, it's a place for a drink with a nice view. Nothing amazing.

Had afternoon tea at Bistro Pierre, the atmosphere and the food was amazing. The service was good but staff did walk off in the middle of a drinks order, returned with water and then took the rest of the drinks order which was strange but overall a lovely place with lovely staff and a great atmosphere!

Pros - Really lovely atmosphere and a beautiful location by the sea - Busy resturant so has a good vibe with music - lots of seating options Cons - Food was awful. The food felt like it was microwaved and brought straight out to us. Very bland with little care on quality. - Because resturant was busy, the tables were not wiped down between customers. Sticky tables and crumbs greeted us when we came to our table

Went quite late on an August Saturday evening and just had a few starters to share as we didn’t want a big meal & cocktails. Food was very tasty - maybe a little overpriced. Service was very prompt. Had to queue to use the toilets which was a bit unusual for a restaurant but on the whole I good experience and would dine there again.

Had the deep fried brie and and squid home made coating which was refreshing.very reasonably priced as everything is made to scratch by the looks of it.then we had the honey and mustard pork loin medallions,with green beans dauphine potatoes and a mustard cream sauce with Caremilised granny Smith apple slice and crisp onions. It was a delight to eat great little spot right next to the see with great views Lots of options I will definitely be coming again Think ill be part of the furniture soon There was no picture as we started eating as soon as we she the delicious food in front of us I rate this place and I know my food

We went to eastbourne international airshow and saw the restaurant so we went in to have something to eat and drink the staff are very polite and professional and for how busy it was service was quick and efficient food tasted beautiful great wat to start the airshow

We reserved a table for both the Thursday and Friday of Airbourne. We got the best one both days!! From the welcome from manager Pablo and his deputy Raul we had a great two days. The food was superb and the service was second to none. The waitresses Ola and Hannah were fantastic but we had Debs all day on the Friday and she was a delight. We can't speak highly enough of this restaurant.

The food is great, as is the service and location, unfortunately, due to all my hard saved points being removed without any warning, I can only rate this 1 star. In response, no I hadn't been in 6 months as I wasn't working, but there was no warning tbe points were about to expire, otherwise I would have visited. We don't feel very loyal any more!

Having visited Bistro Pierre in Plymouth - which was really excellent - we were looking for a similar experience in Eastbourne. We were disappointed. The location is great - but it was definitely poorly managed on the night we were there. When we arrived, we waited with others at the reception desk for more than 5 minutes before anybody materialised. As we were shown to our table, we were given the impression that we were an inconvenience. Service at the table began well with a young Hungarian waiter; but he disappeared after 30 minutes and then we (and a nearby table) were largely ignored. It was an effort to get any attention; other waiters kept indicating that they were too busy to look after us. It was even an effort to get the bill. The food was OK; but sloppily presented and nothing like the quality that we had enjoyed in Plymouth. I can’t imagine wanting to return.

We had a lovely lunch here. The roast chicken is delicious! The calamari to stater was also great, but there were only six pieces so need to up the portion size. Shout out to Agnes who was lovely!
