Bistrot Pierre in Eastbourne

I have long been a fan of Bistrot Pierre in Eastbourne, frequently visiting for its stunning views. However, my recent experience has left me with no desire to return. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the deputy manager, Rapl, whose demeanor was surprisingly unprofessional, rude, and arrogant. It’s disheartening to encounter such poor customer service from someone in a managerial role, and it raises concerns about the level of training provided to staff. If this is the standard set by a deputy manager, I can only imagine the overall service quality at the establishment. It’s truly disappointing, as Bistrot Pierre was once a favorite destination for me. Unfortunately, the importance of good customer service cannot be overstated, and this experience has overshadowed the lovely views that initially drew me in.

This is my fourth time coming back here and I love it every time! Debs is the best server and is always welcoming and friendly. The food is great and the views of the seaside for breakfast are stunning! Will be back

I love visiting the Bistro for it's fabulous setting, ambience and service. The staff are friendly and attentive. Whist the food is tasty and well presented, I was disappointed by the portion sizes. It appears that the vegetarian dishes come in smaller portions than that of the meat dishes. I only had about 5 pieces of tortellini in the pasta dish that I ordered, whilst my partner received half a chicken for the same value!

My wife and I decided to celebrate our 25th anniversary by going to Bistro for dinner yesterday. The food was excellent overall, and the service was quick. I must praise Ribeiro, a young man who helped out whenever needed and was very attentive when required. Thank you to the Bistro staff and Ribeiro for making this special night even more amazing.

Fabulous birthday meal today in Eastbourne BP. From the extensive menu we chose chorizo sausages & salmon starters, salmon provencale & chicken normandy. All was delicious and plentiful & served with a smile throughout from the attentive staff. Not our first time here but can highly recommend and we will certainly be back

A fantastic restaurant set on the sea front. I had the set menu which was really well priced. Staff, especially Chad were brilliant and understood my needs being allergic to all Nuts. It's my third time eating here and won't be my last. Thank you

Following a recent visit to Bistro Pierre on the seafront in Eastbourne I wanted to let you know how much my daughter and I enjoyed our lunch which was made even more treasured by the wonderful, caring staff with special mention of HANNAH and DEBS...........who both worked tirelessly at a very busy time with a smile on their faces and they both made our day even more special. My daughter has, through her work, visited many top restaurants in the South of England and indeed overseas but this day at Bistro Pierre was very much at the top of her list. The menu, food and service absolutely perfect. Both Hannah and Debs are a real credit to Bistro Pierre and we shall be back very soon hoping to see them both.

Great excellent delicious food and very lovely staff as well. Would definitely recommend . Occasional swearing and shouting by the which I found uncomfortable as we had our kids around. Apart from this little glitch it was a great experience.

From the waitress to the manager the service was great. I think the chef also ensured brilliant experience by highlighting alternatives to deal with my brother’s allergies. Thanks for the teamwork, which ensured my awkward Australian brother had a super time 😀 (visited Wednesday 22-1-25)

We booked the table at 8pm but we arrived to Eastbourne earlier so decided to see if we could get a table early. The restaurant was absolutely empty, the guy at the door said if we have booking he can sit us no matter the time if not then he can’t. we cancelled our 8pm booking before as we thought we didn’t need it so he said he can’t sit us as they are “ FULLY BOOKED”. Bro, I am a restaurant manager i know you are no where near fully booked. Well you’ve lost paying customers.

Had a wonderful date night at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch. Chloe, was incredibly sweet and attentive, making the experience even more special. A big thank you to her for making our evening unforgettable! Highly recommend!

Quality service not used to that living in London . Me and wife went for her birthday . Waitress was really nice not used to that living in London , I tried to give her some cash at the end for her being nice but she refused saying service charge was already added . They brought out an ice cream for my wife with it being her birthday which was a nice touch . We went somewhere else the next night and the quality difference was massive for the same price . Will definitely be back in a few months when it’s warm enough to sit out .

Great cuisine with stunning sea views. Located on the seafront, it has a relaxed atmosphere, a fixed-price menu, and friendly service. A perfect spot for enjoying a meal with a view.

Visited on a very chilly January when their 30% discount was operating. Busy Friday and staff were working hard. All were friendly. Food was really good, but a few items were sold out. Calamari was really good and I would recommend the creme brulee, I would go back for that. Main was boef bordelaise with mash, very tasty indeed. Name check to Moises for doing a great job and having a good sense of humour. Having never been to this chain before, on this showing, I would definitely go to another one. Did well with allergen requirements.

My friend and I enjoyed an early dinner before going to the pantomime at the Devonshire park theatre. Id been for Christmas lunch at the restaurant in December and we had been given a 30%off main meals in January. I often have the Pierre menu, but this is not on the offer. We had a nice table by the window. I chose the roast beef and my friend had the salmon/prawn fishcake. The food was hot and very tasty. We indulged in desserts too, my friend had the crumble and I went fir the cheese and was able to have camembert. The food was served promptly and had a good tine.

I picked this restaurant because it was the closest to my hotel and was pleasantly surprised! The ambiance was lovely, modern and chic. It was dark already so unfortunately there was no view but I imagine it’s spectacular during the day. The staff were all very welcoming, polite, and super quick! I was impressed with wine menu as it has some really good options. I got the soup of the day which was tomato basil, simply delicious. I ordered the John Dory fillet that was on special, and it was absolutely scrumptious. I splurged on the dessert with the winner berry tart and really enjoyed it as well. The plating of everything was pretty, and I left full and happy. Would highly recommend!

Nice steak, small portion and very expensive for what you get. Staff are friendly, but a little unorganised and the toilets were unpleasant.

We went as a family on Christmas Day to Bistrot Pierre. We had a fantastic time. We have eaten out on Christmas Day on 2 other occasions and by far the food here was the best we have had on Christmas Day. The service was great and the nothing was too much trouble. I had the baked Camembert, traditional Christmas roast and apple strudal for dessert. It was fantastic. If I was being picky the strewdal pastry was a little underdone but otherwise fantastic. I also had the winter apperol and loved it.

It's gone right down hill. The food was poor, I have far better at home. I doubt much of it was freshly made. Service was patchy and one of the waiters was actually rude. It's a lovely site, beautiful building, but if the food and service is poor, what's the point? They sent me a £20 off voucher afterwards , I guess it's a promotion for booking our Xmas meal there. But I won't bother using it.

We did not book due to traveling over 300 miles so took a chance they would have a table, which of course they did, we could see that tables had been booked for large groups, was not expecting a great time, but this was not the case, if fact the manager Pablo even found time to chat with us for a short while, the service given by the staff was attentive without being over the top, and all while they had 2 large parties going on. the food was excellent, we even went back for breakfast the following day as out hotel's breakfast was not great. We even realised that is was a chain and we had 1 in Preston which is close to us, so we will be trying out that venue to. My only small thing that was not made aware and not noticable was that fact they add a 10% service charge to the bill, not that we minded, was not aware unitl the bill came.

Very nice restaurant with friendly staff. We only had dessert and a coffee. The espresso tastes great, really. One of the best I've drunk in a long time. Prices are a little higher, but overall it's ok

Great position, good atmosphere. Staff a little chaotic ask same questions ( ready to order etc) by two different members of staff. One member of staff had a stained 'uniform', but friendly service.

We often visit Bistro Pierre in Eastbourne and always recieve excellent service and great food! We celebrated a family birthday last night for a party of 6 and we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening with the General Manager and staff making us very welcome. The food was excellent and atmosphere buzzing as always. We will keep returning! Thank you all and Merry Christmas 😁

With it's location and outlook this place should be heaving, especially at Christmas. However, when we went on Wednesday evening it was very, very quiet. Perhaps the sour face and lack of a warm welcome by the Mature 'd puts people off? Also, booking is a nightmare, as you cannot make a booking at the restaurant, instead it all has to be done via a 'Portal' where you must also leave a deposit. The food was okay, but given the lack of atmosphere and cost, it was pretty average (my pudding was tepid). Would we go again? No. There are nicer places in Eastbourne.

14 of us had lunch here yesterday. Some of us came from Brighton or Hove, whilst others lived in and around the Eastbourne area. The initial booking for 17 people was easy to do and, when three of our party had to drop out for a very sad reason, the restaurant was extremely understanding and offered to return their deposits. The food was excellent, so a big thank you to the chef. We were looked after by Agnes and Charlie, who were both amazing at dealing with a large group. Agnes introduced me to the app, on which I can get special offers, and patiently worked out the bill at the end, including returning the £30 deposit. We all had a great time and will be returning next year. I am more than happy to travel from Brighton. Thank you to the chef, Agnes, Charlie and all the team.

Food was great. Lovely decor and setting. Good value. Staff could do with being more attentive. Had to go wandering to find waiting staff so we could get more drinks. Would benefit from a maître d’ type person keeping an eye on the tables. However we were there on Monday evening when it was pretty quiet, so I appreciate the expense of extra staff is difficult.

Came here tonight for our works Xmas Do- really lovely food- I had the rump steak which was cooked perfectly, just right portion size- brilliant service and a really nice atmosphere would definitely come here again- thank you!🥰

Amazing place. Great atmosphere and lovely friendly staff. Food is lovely although portions of fries are a bit small! Views are to die for any time of year. Been here lots of times now. Can recommend the berry spritzer! Love it when they play French music in the background. Can't wait to go back.

We dropped in for an afternoon coffee and ordered a starter. Quite a few of the staff were taking breaks and eating food at the main bar table as well as chatting on their phones and making video calls. Service was quite lacking despite the numbers on the floor all seems to be cruising and not working. We had to attract attention to get a menu, to order, to ask for salt and pepper and to get our bill. Only one server paid any attention to us and that was an older foreign guy. Service was slow. We ordered the confit of poached and smoked salmon as a starter. I don't think there's any salmon in the dish as it was all white fish and very salty. Both poached and smoked salmon have a distinctive colour, and that was completely absent in this small dish. We won't bother going back as this place looks badly run. The owners clearly don't care or don't know how to run a restaurant which is a shame with it's superb location. Shame!

I visited on the 5th of December for their Christmas dinner, Christmas party menu. While the food was overall enjoyable, I later realized that the roasted potatoes, which were listed as part of the meal, were missing from my plate. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice this during the meal, so I couldn’t inform the staff. It was disappointing to have a key part of the dish overlooked, and I hope the restaurant can ensure this doesn’t happen to other customers in the future.

This wonderful place couldnt be any lovelier. We had our wedding day lunch here 5wks ago, we raved about it then, we had 44 people and it was just fabulous, the 3 course meal was brought out all at the same time, everyone's food was what they had ordered and the team were extraordinary, they went over and above. So we came back today and they brought us two glasses of fizz .. now THAT is great customer service!

Had dinner for 4pax at 615pm on a Sunday evening. Ordered the all day 2-3 course set menu for all 4 pax. Our server was lovely and service was prompt. I had the soup of the day (tomato), and the rump steak medium doneness, final course was the panna cotta. Generous portions and great value. Definitely warrants repeat visit when I am back in Eastbourne.

I have to say that staying in Eastbourne was a mediocre experience, but thanks to the staff and food at Bistrot Pierre, all was forgiven. Great food and good service made up for a lot!

Stunning restaurant setting. Lovely, attentive staff. Our visit this evening was to experience the 6 course soirée gastronomic. What an experience! Generous portion sizes, tasty food and all plates came out piping hot. We included the wine pairing. Highly recommend. We have just started to come back to this restaurant and it hasn’t disappointed. Absolute gem of a place.

Had pate starter as lunch and really liked it so i came back for dinner Goats cheese starter and steak rump main were both excellent decent cuve 94 bottle of red and cheese board finished the day beautifully . I visit the uk 4 or 5 times a year and have done so now for 31 yrs this was one of the best meals i have had in uk Staff are polite friendly and efficient.

Went here for a birthday dinner. We all enjoyed the food, it was delicious. The staff were amazing. They went over and above for our family members' birthday. Will be coming back here again.

When we got seated there was broken pieces off glass under out table. Starters not even finished and mains were brought out. Asked for the bill and has to ask for it again, restaurant wasn't even busy. Toilets are unisex which I personally don't like.

Always a great experience with consistent food quality and service. A must in the summer months sitting outside and great in the winter by the large glass windows.

Popped in for dinner, lovely plenty to choose from. Service was good. However, the point of paying the bill was a little lengthy. We had to wait about 20 minutes & to speed things up, we approached the till area

I do love this place but sadly the food was not at their usual standard. We were there at noon and still quiet, and i had the burger this time and i have to admit I've had far better. It was very basic and not alot of taste. So this is a constructive feedback as i will still return and eat there as i do enjoy it

Great view of the sea, attentive staff and delicious food. I had the butternut squash and St Mont cheese tart with new potatoes and aioli, it was lovely.

We have lived in Eastbourne over 15 years and this was our first visit. How did we not come here before?. Fabulous lunch. Great staff. Crème Brûlée was just perfect. We will be regular patrons from now on.

It's such a pity the service is almost comically slow. It appears to a systematic and has been so since it opened a few years ago. There are always people 'meerkatting' for service and indeed to pay. You could call it relaxed and it would appear that the staff have been told they mustn't rush and get over-hyped, but it is quite annoying when you've been waiting 10+ minutes to give your order or to receive your drinks. It disincentivizes you to order a second drink, or indeed food. The deliberate, systematic ineptitude is also illustrated by the control of menu's at the entry. You queue to be allocated a table but if you say you only want a drink, you can go sit anywhere. Furthermore you're then given a drinks-only menu so you don't get to know about the (delicious) snacks like croquettes. It's such a shame because it's a great location, reasonably priced and the staff are pleasant - just made to work a defective system

Went for a late afternoon meal for my parents anniversary at the Bistro Pierre. We arrived early and asked if it would be possible to be seated early, the Maitre d was more than happy to show us to a table. We orderd our food which came out promptly and was some of the best we have had over the years. The staff were excellent and very professional, the food and drink excellent and the venue atmosphere make it a fantastic place to eat. The pricing is no more than any other quality restaurant and the time taken for food to arrive was very good.

We’ve been here several times and the food is pretty good. Not the best French food but tasty enough. Unfortunately the staff are quite overstretched and we’ve repeatedly struggled to get people to take our order or bring us drinks, etc. Most recently we went in without a reservation and were turned away, which is fair enough, only to see the couple immediately behind us, who also didn’t have a reservation, get seated immediately. When we asked the maitre d why they were given priority he was very curt, insisted we had said we only wanted a drink (we didn’t, we were there for lunch), wouldn’t let us wait for a table and then said he was refusing to serve us. It’s a shame as it’s in a great location but we won’t be back.

Have been here many times and enjoyed the food and have been pleased with the service from an efficient, welcoming and attentive team but on a visit last week we left feeling so disappointed. We waited 25 mins for the food to arrive and when it did, one of the orders was totally wrong. So we waited again and 15 mins later, it arrived, but on cold plates and the food was barely warm. We weren't asked if all was OK or asked if we wanted more drinks etc as usually happens. Once finished, we had to go up to the till to get our bill as we waited 20 mins for a server but no one came over and to finish the visit off, they did not add my loyalty points when we paid, despite taking my phone to scan the QR code. All in all an utter disaster. Did not recognise 1 member of staff this time. All the regulars were missing... not sure if there have been some team changes but something is clearly amiss. Not sure if I want to go back now.

Very nice restaurant. With a view of the sea. Very expensive drinks. But a beautiful place for a Diner. The food was very tasty. We'll be back.

Secound visit to this Bistro. The first time was fot just a coffee qnd quick bite. This prompted the second today as we enjoyed the first time very much. Today was for lunch, again another very enjoyable experience. Gorgeous food, excellent service, lovely atmosphere, especially with the view looking out tosea with large glass windows. If there had been a piano tinkering away in the background, then would have given 5star. First class without being posh. Please, please keep up the good work.

Beautiful location, overpriced menu and inconsistent food and service guilty. Sometimes it is enjoyable and other times not so much.

Great location with unbeatable views! Was greeted by Jarek who was very friendly, our server Callie was very professional and pleasant. Food was great. Reasonably priced.

The wine was 13% but as you can see. Also nobody ask about anything need extra service.

Food ok but I know less is more but rump steak with a dash of sauce and a few stick chips...nah. Also noticed cobwebs and dust on the lights..not good. The acoustics make it very noisy, that or people are just getting louder? The meal came to £ 70 for 2, good value? Not really. Sorry.

The service staff here are especially arrogant and rude, and it creates a really uncomfortable environment. Our server, Debbie, was very rude and unfriendly, she even took the menu from my mum while she was reading it. The food and views are good. Only the manager Raul was a nice man, the other waiters here are some of the worst I've ever encountered and I've traveled the world! This place could really use some nicer, friendlier staff to make it a pleasant place to visit again.

Have a surprise as walking past Bistrot Pierre was not only open at 10am but serving breakfast. Return for our 6th time, this time for the Soirée Gastronomique 6 course menu. Fantastic value for money, along with the wine pairing, was a very enjoyable evening. No photos as started each course before remembering ..

An absolutely beautiful bistro! Beautiful view! Great scones with jam and clottes cream. A bit noisy, but when we got a new table by the window it got better.
