Bistrot Pierre in Eastbourne

Nice location but it'll take you ages to get served. Actually had to wait and ask to pay for a drink which you can't order at the bar; you have to wait for the table service. Took about 20 mins and they didn't actually come back to ask if we wanted a second round. Nice view though but won't be back

We visited yesterday for a birthday celebration with a large group, and overall had a lovely time despite a few hiccups. The restaurant itself is beautiful – spotless, stylish, and with a really warm, welcoming atmosphere. The views out to sea are absolutely stunning, and there’s outdoor seating available if you fancy taking it all in while you eat. The food was delicious, served hot, and really good value for money. The set menu at £24.95 for three courses was fantastic, and the children's menu was equally impressive – great portion sizes and variety, with 2 courses for £6.95 or 3 for £8.95. It’s refreshing to see such thoughtful options for kids. The staff serving our table were friendly and helpful – they quickly brought extra napkins when we had a spillage and kindly kept two of our meals warm while my boyfriend took our toddler outside to settle him. That kind of attention was really appreciated. That said, the restaurant did seem a little unprepared for a large group. Despite most of the meals being pre-ordered, it took 1 hour and 15 minutes for the remaining few orders (mainly kids' meals) to be taken, and mains didn’t arrive until two hours after we got there. By that point, our toddler was understandably tired and hungry, and had a bit of a meltdown. He ended up falling asleep before his food arrived and missed the meal altogether, which was really disappointing. There was also some confusion with drinks – I was asked several times what I wanted even after ordering, and drinks meant for other tables were brought to us by mistake. It all felt a little disorganised. With a bit more assertiveness and focus on efficiently handling the children’s orders early on, the experience could have been much smoother. Still, the positives – especially the food, setting, and lovely staff – mean I’d happily return, particularly for a smaller group or quieter occasion.

Fish and chips is served outside in a takeaway cardboard box, with disposable wooden utensils. The fish varies between cod and haddock, so best ask when ordering. The fish fillet is very small, like a child's portion. Having said all that, the fish is freshly caught that morning and they taste great, though a bit fatty. It's a nice setting if you sit with a view of the sea. Lastly, you can get fresh tap water inside, though they tried to sell if bottled water.

Very deliciously prepared meals, a wide selection, portions, and reasonable prices. We found the bistro very busy on two evenings (weekdays, off-season), so reservations are recommended. Our orders were served surprisingly quickly.

2nd time we've been. I love the place, the staff, the food. You don't get overwhelmed by a ridiculous pile of food that you won't be able to finish. The price reflects this. I recommend the tagine and chocolate mousse.

Food was very good, we all enjoyed everything. Our server was Oscar P, who was great. Good service and very friendly. Oscar made us feel very welcome. Great value for money and lovely setting with tables looking out to sea. Reservation was easy on-line. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch and with no long wait time. Very enjoyable, have been several times before and will definitely be back. And wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

The wait for ordering food was also long and we had to ask to order (the waitress did say the wait was because she could see we were talking and catching up with our friends). We found it strange that we weren’t allowed to adjust the meals - for example, we asked to swap a flatbread for chips and couldn’t and when we asked for a salad without red pepper they said “it might not be possible if it’s in the mix already” which made us think the food came in as a ready meal. We also asked to add an extra egg onto one meal and were told we couldn’t because of ‘allergies’? We didn’t have high expectations for the food however it was surprisingly delicious and we were very happy with the taste and quality. We came here to celebrate our friend getting a new job but unfortunately left feeling a bit deflated. Can’t fault the food but we felt the staff were awkward and rude - in particular the day manager.

What a fantastic location overlooking the sea in Eastbourne. We chose the Thursday evening special which was extremely good value and a minute steak which was as tender as a filet. Matt S our waiter was cheerful and attentive and contributed greatly to our enjoyment of the evening.

I must highly rate this restaurant and the management. I didn’t manage to get the current offer off my bill. But having brought it to the attention of Miranda the restaurant manager she quickly looked into it and contacted me and resolved it. It’s great when you feel that your custom is appreciated. Amazing meal at Bistrot Pierre. We were visiting from Norfolk and stumbled across the restaurant when visiting the Wish Tower. Had a coffee, but came back for an evening meal. The service was excellent. The staff are super friendly and attentive. The location is lovely. We were able to sit outside on the decking area looking out to the sea. The food was exceptional. All in all a lovely meal and experience. Highly recommended.... AND dog friendly!

Location: The location is very nice. You can sit outside in the terrace and it overlooks the bay. Food: It was freshly prepared but poor value for money. The calamari as starter had 6 pieces for £8. My halloumi burger, for £17, was again very poor value for money. It tasted nice though Service: The service is very very poor. We waited in the front area for five minutes waiting to be seated. The restaurant was half empty, the staff could see we are waiting but nobody simply cared. Jarek finished his conversations then took care of us. The food arrived in good time but nobody bothered to ever check. We decided not to have any desserts just because of the poor service. I then had to wait for 20 minutes for the bill. After four requests, Ana cared and brought me my bill. It looks like they are seriously understaffed and their systems collapse when they get busy. I often saw waiters moving around with prepared dishes but completely at a loss which table they are supposed to go to.

Do not come here! Booked a table for 4:15pm, no service from the member of staff that sat us down. It felt like we were just a number to them. I expected to know what they would recommend on the menu, or at least asked if the table was to our satisfaction. Nothing just shown the table, menus dumped and host gone! Starters came out, wrong! We were given an alcoholic version of the Non-Alcohol beer we asked for!! And waited over an hour for 3 main courses.. a table sat down as we had finished our starters; and they had eaten their starters, eaten their 4 main courses and had received dessert menus, BEFORE we had our main course… I felt that they didn’t want my custom, and that we were just another number to them! To top it all off; I almost got charged for two items that I did not receive! Awful service! Would never recommend!

Lovely birthday meal for my partner on Wednesday! The staff were so organised and friendly! Couldn’t have asked for better service and the food was incredible! We had Ivan as our waiter who was great and even remembered my partners birthday and promoted me when he thought I’d forgotten to order the birthday pudding! Will be returning to try more dishes!

Absolutely appalled by this place! Had wanted to try since it had opened.. finally for a birthday we booked a table. queued out of the door yet half the tables were empty. Disgusting service, extremely slow and the staff didn’t seem to want to be there, a table came in after us, with more people, They had starters and mains by the time we were given our mains, we had to wait an hour after ordering before our mains came out of which the potatoes were overcooked and tasted reheated. we then had to sit with empty plates for another 20 minutes as there was no staff around to take our plates, then had to take items off our bill that wasn’t ordered. Wrong starters came out. Wrong drink was given! Luckily the person that it was intended for could drink alcohol as we ordered an alcohol free drink! Gutted as we had looked forward to trying this place, regret not staying at home as we spent well over £100. If I could give this 0 stars I would

Wow! We enjoyed our dinner experience here thoroughly. We decided to eat here because it was close to our hotel. Our server was very kind and gave us recommendations. Two people got the 3 course meal they have and one just ordered al carte. For the 3 course, the calamari, tomato soup, chicken dish, and desert was ordered. The shrimp appetizer was ordered and the sea bass was ordered. All the food was wonderful. Perfect temperature, well seasoned, and truly delicious. Plates were finished and enjoyed very much. For dessert we got the creme brûlée and the dark chocolate mouse, both were great. We really enjoyed this restaurant and would recommend going!!

We were attracted to book a table at this restaurant by the beautiful building and the fantastic location but everything about our visit was disappointing. We were placed on a small central table directly under the air conditioning unit and the staff were clearly overworked. The food, when it arrived was lacklustre. We opted for the more expensive sirloin steak and it arrived over cooked and anaemic. They had run out of lots of options on the menu, including salad so our choices were limited. The only thing that was better than expected was the calamari. Two starters, two disappointing steaks and two glasses of wine were £100. Luckily we were just visiting Eastbourne so we won’t need to go back.

Beautiful location, lovely sea views and a very clean, tidy and modern setting. My husband and I visited with our small dog on a Tuesday lunchtime. We both had the 2 course set menu. Starters, we both had the calamari with alioli which was cooked to perfection and a bigger portion than I imagined. For mains I had the sea bream risotto which was a good portion and the flavours were delicious, enhanced with a suttle hint of chorizo. My husband had the pork medalions with Douphanoise potatoes which he enjoyed immensely. I had the Cuvee Rose to drink which accompanied my dishes perfectly, my husband had a diet coke. The whole dining experience was delightful, although the service was a little slow to order and to get the bill. This did not distract from the overall experience and we would thoroughly recommend eating at this establisment.

Great services!! 🥰 Ana and Moises has always been very welcoming and friendly. We have been here every weekend for the last few months and the food has always been exceptional. The view is unbeatable and prices are very reasonable. The terrace is pet friendly perfect for our little puppy as well. Highly recommended this place for drinks or food.

This is our favourite spot for date nights dinners and even for a steak and eggs breakfast before hitting the gym. The food is incredible, the atmosphere, the staff, the view of the cliffs and ocean. It's just perfect.

Always great, that’s why we keep returning, the Eastbourne location is perfect. Oscar P very pleasant and looked after us fully. I’d advise everyone to join the Bistro Pierre Club as the deals make it good value. Would recommend the Beef Bourguignon, only concern is the portions seem to be getting smaller.

Never leave reviews but this time it was really unpleasant Restaurant was half empty at 20:10 01.05 ( we didn’t have reservation) and we wanted to seat outside with other people seating there and just have a drink, but manager ( he was hosting) said it’s closed which is obviously not and was a bit unfriendly. Been there earlier and waters were brilliant

Very nice staff (I forget their name) but they were amazing. It’s one of those places where I don’t mind the food taking longer because I know it’s all cooked fresh. All of the deserts are amazing and the steaks too!

Terrible breakfast that tasted like it had been kept warm too long. Sausages as dry as old boots, beans were congealed, all luke warm and not freshly cooked. Cheap tasting orange juice. Not worth the £13.50 charge. Shame because its a lovely view. Just won't go back.

A great place in Eastbourne to enjoy breakfast overlooking the sea. The Bistro Pierre is located slightly higher up and therefore the view is particularly beautiful.

The location is great , atmosphere lovely , staff were brilliant. We were served by Matt S , it was only his 2nd shift but he was attentive and apologised for being a bit slow at taking the order - he wasn’t slow at all ! Very impressed

Delicious dinners..we ate there 2 evenings. Spoiled by a £10 reduction if registered on loyalty schem that sadly we couldnt do this due to old phones and non tech brains. They wouldn't honour the discount offer so beware.

Great location on the sea shore. Working hours from 9.00 to 22.00. You can stop by for breakfast with the whole family, you can celebrate a birthday, or you can come to enjoy cocktails 👌😁😋

1. I don’t even remember exactly the taste of full English breakfast because the portions were really small. Tiny!!! So we ordered 2 FuLL English Breakfasts for each person. Bread was cheap. No sour dough bread option just tiny soft sweat brown toast. No hash browns. Just a half of one tiny tomato. One tiny mushroom. No black pudding. 2. Service is poor. But the service charge was added automatically in the bill. The waiter was nervous and anxious. Didn’t want to explain anything. Was in a hurry permanently and tried to run away every single moment. 3. Prices are extremely high. Don’t correspond with the quality and amount of food and service. Don’t recommend. Ps The view was great. Place was busy and noisy. Tables were sticky and greasy.

We just went for another of their excellent Soirée Gastromique evenings and again were very well fed with a great view of the sea for a very reasonable price. Special thanks to Aleksandre for being very efficient and making it fun.

Ate here twice whilst on a short break to Eastbourne. Excellent views over the sea, plenty seating, both indoors and outdoors. Nice buzzy atmosphere, good menu with well cooked and presented dishes. Staff are very friendly and professional. Good selection of beers, wine & spirits. This is a chain, and we are eager to try another site, but I am sure the views will not come close. Highly recommend and will return.

We were sat quickly at our table, however we had to wait a long time for drinks order (the restaurant was packed). Once we politely pointed out that we had waited 30 minutes, the staff was nothing short of amazing, regularly checking on us. We wanted a slow meal and they respected that and brought the food when we were ready. The food was delicious, and they offered a complementary tea to apologise for the initial wait. Can't fault them, they were busy, they acknowledged their mistake and corrected it. I'll come back.

We are frequent visitors of Bistro Pierre Eastbourne, and we have always enjoyed our experience, however this time, we felt we needed to leave a review. We had Sandra as our waitress and she was so attentive to our needs as customers and overall very kind and welcoming. She has such a warm presence, and we are so glad to see she has joined the Bistro Pierre Eastbourne team. We will definitely be back to visit her soon. GO SANDRA!

Terrible Experience – Never Again I don’t even know where to begin. From the moment we arrived, the experience was disappointing. The chubby lady at the front was not only rude to customers but also openly complained about her job right in front of them – highly unprofessional. Then came the wait – the steak took ages to arrive, and when it finally did, the portion was shockingly small for the price. Absolutely not worth it. Overpriced and a complete lack of respect for customers. Never again.

On Tuesday, me and my wife enjoyed their Soirée Gastronomique with wine pairing. It was delicious! Great experience! The wines were perfectly paired. The staff served us very well, especially Sandra. She is definitely a keeper!

A lovely midweek meal out. We chose the Soirée Gastronomique menu which we always find extremely good value. This week's choices were excellent. We were served by Sandra who was so friendly, professional and helpful, she is like a breath of fresh air and clearly loves her job. The food was excellent, tasty, well presented and just the right quantities for the type of menu we had. It would be good to see these dishes on the main menu as they were so good. If you have not tried the Tuesday Soirée Gastronomique menus, give them a go, you won't be disappointed

We ate here twice whilst we were in Eastbourne for 5 nights. The food is amazing. Such high quality. We both had the mushroom pie (neither of us are vegetarian) and it was fantastic, you would be easily fooled into thinking it was meat 👍

On arrival, the maître d'hôtel was very welcoming and friendly. We initially wanted to sit inside, but he recommended a table outside in the sun with which we were very happy. The ambiance was lovely, modern and chic. The view was spectacular on a lovely sunny day. The staff were all very welcoming and polite! I want to give a special shout out to the waitress named Ola. She was very friendly and gave good recommendations. My friend had a Chardonnay and she said it complimented her meal perfectly. My friend ordered the soup of the day which was tomato basil. She said it was delicious. I ordered the camembert which I really enjoyed especially with the chutney that accompanied it. We both had the Chicken Normandy with dauphinoise potatoes and thought the meal was delicious. The dessert (tarte tartin for me and sticky toffee madeleine for my friend) was a perfect finisher. We would highly recommend!

We were a table for 12 for an 80th Birthday and initially worried that they might not cope as we didn’t pre order, Sandra who served us could not be more attentive, friendly and professional, the food was hot and excellent quality(not one mistake) we couldn’t have asked for a better celebration meal. The three stars are because of the food value and how nice server Hannah was. The set menu is quite tasty and a nice variety of options (for meat/fish eaters), and a reasonable price for what you get. The whole experience wasn't amazing. We got there during the two cocktails for £14 offer, but i honestly couldn't taste any alcohol in them, and neither could my tee total father in law. We took the drinks up to the bar to check we hadn't confused them for mocktails, to which the barman snatched the drinks off us and tipped in smirnoff, which actually made the drinks a bit gross and no boozier... do they water down the vodka? He was very rude and aggressive in manner. The restaurant was loud and service quite slow. Steak either comes 'pink or well done' so not many options there. The servers kept coming over and trying to take our plates whilst we were still eating. The service staff were very nice however and they let us bring a cake for a birthday. The whole drink situation left a bad taste in my mouth though (literally and figuratively) so probably won't go back. Avoid the cocktails, but the food is quite nice

Popped in at lunchtime for a snack and coffees. Cracking location and gppd atmosphere. Love the French spelling of Bistrot 😉 only negative was the discretionary service charge of 10%- which is creeping in everywhere 🙄🙄

Sandra is a definite star. She's attentive, friendly and gave great service from beginning to end,. A great asset to the restaurant. Riberio is also cool. On the downside there's limited choice for vegans on main course.

Came in on a weekday evening around 8pm party of two, not busy but was flat out ignored upon arriving along with another two people. Waited for about 15-20 minutes before just deciding to leave and go elsewhere. I understand closing up early or not being able to sit anymore people but could have at least acknowledged us.

Three of us ate here earlier this week. We have eaten here before too. However, no one was welcoming. The manager seemed miserable as were the staff who other than one waitress were verging on rude. Food was nice but very small portions for what you paid. A few things not available too. Not overly impressed. Thank you very much for your reply

Attempted to join family members on the outside terrace for drinks this afternoon, after a lovely walk on Mother’s Day. No such luck however as we were scolded (ironically as a mother would her child) by a condescending and rude member of staff (R) - I must say we were approached in a manner as if one had carried out a dirty protest on the restaurant doorstep. We just wanted a drink?? Did that offend him so much?! I’d be inclined to think maybe ‘R’ had a bad or stressful day- it happens to the best of us! Yet after some careful digging through other reviews I can only conclude that this chap is miserable, and just plain cack at customer service. In several responses to as aforementioned reviews, Bistrot Pierre management claim this is not their standard of service, they are standing by their man! Either this guy is the one responding, or ‘R’ is Mr Congeniality out of work because the bad reviews go way back! I should have called him out for his berating in that very moment, but my mouth was dry, if I’d had even the chance to wet my whistle then I’d have given him what for I tell you! Anyhoo, Happy Mothers Day! Managed to get a consolation prize in the form of a vodka & orange from The View Hotel across the road. Highly recommend. Half expected ‘R’ to appear and drop kick it out of my hands though. Needless to say, won’t be back.

We have attempted twice to go for drinks, and come away thirsty both times. One time we were told it was 45 minutes wait for a drink, the next time staff did not even come to the front desk despite seeing us. Disappointing as potentially a great venue. Not got an axe to grind. We live ten minutes walk away and this could be one of our local spots to eat and drink, but often left disappointed.

We visited at the recommendation of local hotelier due to the view and tripadvisor review rating. Food and coffee was ok, cake was not as fresh as you would expect from a restaurant. It was dry and lacked taste. Though the restaurant was not flooding on a Friday afternoon, service could have been bit faster. We had to stay longer than expected for bill. We tried contacting the restaurant via their phone line about something else, no one answered. “you are at position 1” for at least 10mins before the calls disconnected on its own for 2 consecutive days. Why have a telephone line when no one answers the calls, Certainly something they should improve on. Certainly won’t be returning.

Just wanted to say thank you to all the staff at Bistrot Pierre, yesterday 27th, myself and 4 friends turn up asking if we could be fed and gone within the hour with no reservation, as we had a show to see. Plus a 6th person would be arriving shortly. And they did it, fantastic service, efficient they effortlessly added the extra order which was given in a few minutes after. The seabass was delicious. Thank you so much, a super experience .

Arrived with friends planning to enjoy coffee on the terrace overlooking the sea. Terrace was not fully open but we did not expect to be squeezed into a very small area with a few other people. We cannot comment on the food as when we ordered coffee we were told "we are not serving food" so no treats for our friends. Decided to stay but while we waited, and waited it became quite breezy and we advised the waitress we were moving indoors by the window to look at the sea as planned. This was not allowed as it was the 'restaurant area" but we had already been told they were not serving food so we woud not have been taking valuable seats. Returned to our table on the terrace and waited. Eventually when the couple next to us took their coffee back to have it reheated we politely let the waitress know we were leaving. No-one seemed bothered. This was a disappointing and embarrassing experience as I had raised my friends expectations.

Visited Bistrot Pierre on the advice of a friend who lives in Eastbourne, and was really pleased with the choice. Despite being busy, we were given table overlooking the beach with fantastic views. Food was excellent ( calamari and gambas to start, with sea bass and Caesar salad as mains ). Expertly looked after by "Debs" who definitely knew how to treat her guests. Highly recommended, and would certainly return when back in Eastbourne.

This is the first time I have been there and I enjoyed the food and the service was very good, they were very busy but we weren't rushed. The view over the chalk cliffs and the bay are beautiful. I will certainly be going back.
