What a lovely restaurant! Amazing value and delicious authentic home cooked food. Half price drinks and hearty dishes. We were so lucky to find this place! The waiter was very friendly and attentive and worked very hard to ensure everyone was happy. The Rillettes, tomato and cheese salad, and chicken chowder starter - all delicious. Beef stew, lamb meatballs and lamb stew with ginger all mouth watering and cooked perfectly. Cheese and biscuits dessert, waffles and peach tart also amazing. Half price bottle of wine to top it all off! Three courses for 3 people with a bottle of wine for £44. This is a real gem.

Regresaremos, a menudo.

Had a good meal (especially at this price point). Unlimited starters (soup, smoked salmon, pate, olives and sundried tomatoes, fresh crusty bread, lovely mixed salad and a mozzarella/tomato salad). We had a lovely fish stew and beef bourguignon for main served with new potatoes. Unlimited ice cream (great mango sorbet) and unlimited cheese and biscuits to finish the meal. It is rustic. The buffet element is constantly refilled. House red wine was great.Definitely be back.Great for small groups, families or couples.

This amazing, family-run French bistrot is tucked away in tiny North Street, though it's well worth the hunt to find it...! Just look for the cow in the window...! Set out in rustic Gauloise ambiance - sack-cloth on wooden crates, and one, long bench - La Grange ('the Barn') is open Wednesday to Saturday evenings, serving three to four hors d'oeuvres, six or seven main courses, and some varied, delectable sweets + a cheese board. Boeuf Bourguinon, pork in Lentils, fish in white wine sauce, ratatouille, chicken Provencal- just some often the offerings available. This is a help-yourself buffet - as many times as you like - for the amazing price of £9.95 per person...! Drinks are varied and reasonably priced, so an evening here is filling, AND good value.Treat a friend, and/ or loved-one ... Vive La Grange...!

The whole idea of 'French Country Buffet' is (I think) unique, and who wouldn't love unlimited starters (incl. Rillettes!) and unlimited desserts (mango sorbet to die for). As for the main courses; absolutely divine and hearty to the point of bursting. And all for under £10 a head ... and that's without taking into account the half price drinks on Wed/Thurs.

What a gem of a find. Tucked down a back street and not great looking from the outside but well worth it once inside. Such a cosy friendly place, food was delicious and at a bargain price, thoroughly recommend seeking it out. The main course is no longer buffet style due to too much food previously being wasted. Selection of h'or derves to start, about 6 different crock pot mains to choose from and then cheese and ice cream to finish. My daughter had 2 helpings of ice cream and we were all full up so although not buffet, still plenty of choice. We will definitely be going again at £9.95 a head.

We ate at Le Grange on a Thursday night when they were running a half price drinks deal. I could not believe that they actually make any money charging under £10 per head for a huge selection of buffet style starters and all you can eat crock pot mains. Most restaurants make money on drinks, but even at full price their delicious house wine is very affordable... at half price it’s an absolute steal.

6 of us went there last night, as a pre theatre dinner. It was perfect yet again. I would not expect it to be otherwise and I am never disappointed. With an extensive range of starters and mains, and a selection of cheeses and ice cream for dessert, what is there not to like? To reply to someone’s review: With at least 10 mains to select from, how can this be repetitive (????) unless you eat too much of everything on each visit. We love it there, the food is tasty, healthy & plentiful and the service is always great. Always made to feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you again for a great dinner out.

I haven’t been here in about a year and it has improved significantly. Everything I ate was delicious, there was plenty of options to choose from and the starters were fresh and plentiful. I had fish and white wine sauce for mains which included mussels and salmon and was very very nice. A smoked salmon and patê starter amongst a mezze of other fresh antipasti. A cheese selection and ice cream. And an attentive waiter. All for less than £10. There’s nothing to criticize. Definitely recommend.

A very unusual way of having dinner, all the food is like a hot buffet. Pays your money and takes your choice!! Having said that there was a choice of meat, fish or veg, good starter selection and ice cream for pud. You can have as much as you like. Price was reasonable. Not sure about returning very often as I am not sure how much the menu changes.

We'll, 8 of us went to the Grange last night for my birthday. It has a lovely atmosphere, very French rustic. The food was excellent. Starters were plates of what I would call hors doerves. There was a fish soup which people loved, but I wasn't too keen on that. The food is in individual slow cookers, and were totally delicious, dessert was mango, mint did file, and vanilla ice cream and cheeses. Again totally delicious. I was only a little disappointed as my daughter went here a few months back and she said there was panacotta, and chocolate mousse, but how can you complain for £9.95. it was my birthday and the lady bought out some chocolate ice cream in a little bowl with a candle on. Top, a lovely gesture. I don't normally like chocolate ice cream, but this was lovely with bits of chocolate in it. The lady who served us was very friendly.if you love hearty wholesome food then this is the place to go. I'm going to recommend to all my friends and family. We had read the reviews and also heard good reports from friends, lovely atmosphere, but the whole place which was full only had one member of staff. We booked at 7.30pm, the starters had run out, when we asked for a top up it was acknowledged but due to the one member of staff being rushed off her feet and waiting on a full restaurant and apparently preparing the food, we gave up on that one, managed to have a bowl of fish soup which was lovely but we had to wait for soup spoons and actually go into the kitchen to ask for these, the main course choice was lovely but again, some of the dishes were empty. We asked for some crackers to go with the cheese to finish but advised there were none left, when asking for some bread, we were told it would be a 20 minute wait, there were wafers with the ice cream though! The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere but very disappointing dining experience, probably better to arrive at 5.30pm before the food runs out!

We visited this restaurant this evening. After having read the other reviews, we were really looking forward to our meal and had invited two of our close friends to join us. The starters were limited, but acceptable- in fact, we decided that the only food that was palatable was that which had not been cooked on the premises! The duck in the cassoulet was very dry, as was the chicken in the coq au vin and the beef in the boeuf bourguignon was so overcooked (it had the texture of cardboard!) that I was forced to discard it after attempting to chew it. Although it professes to provide authentic 'French' cuisine, the only dessert, apart from some tiny pieces of cheese, was a selection of ice creams. We found the seating extremely uncomfortable and there wasn't adequate provision for us to hang up our coats etc. It's certainly not a restaurant I would visit again, nor one that I would recommend. I cannot understand why it has received such glowing reviews- I can only imagine that other reviewers have judged it on the quantity of food available, rather than on its quality!

Favourite dish of our night was the chicken and mushroom. Tres bien! We all tried most of the dishes and weren’t disappointed. As another reviewer has noted: some green beans would have topped the mains off but it didn’t stop us enjoying the fare on offer. If you have room then the cheese board is a must. House wine was a tad expensive for what we got though. It was very hot inside with no windows so we sat by the door to get a breeze. Having tried sister restaurant Exquis (which is superb), we visited La Grange and were delighted. It’s a great concept and all the diners looked very happy. The food is excellent, with the mains being kept hot in a line of slow cookers and the desserts kept cold in a fridge. Apart from the drinks, it’s all self-service and as much as you want. I visited on the 5th of December for their Christmas dinner, Christmas party menu. While the food was overall enjoyable, I later realized that the roasted potatoes, which were listed as part of the meal, were missing from my plate. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice this during the meal, so I couldn’t inform the staff. It was disappointing to have a key part of the dish overlooked, and I hope the restaurant can ensure this doesn’t happen to other customers in the future.
