L'Etoile Salon de Tea in Edinburgh, City of

Myself and three friends stumbled on this lovely place on our way to the Grassmarket. We received a warm, friendly welcome from the staff on arrival and were seated immediately. We chose breakfast items which were all freshly prepared and of high quality. You get good, homemade food and there is plenty to choose from on the menu. We were so impressed that we returned for more on the following day!! Lovely, friendly staff and a very pleasant vibe to the place. Can highly recommend x

This is a wonderful find in Edinburgh! Found on my Gluten Free App. Most of the options on the menu can accommodate gluten free. One of the owners is coeliac. We had soup (one with GF bread and one with a fully gluten baguette), and GF French pastries (carrot cake and flan). All were delicious. If we were staying longer, I would definitely go back.

We ate breakfast here 3 mornings in a row. Such a great cosy and quirky little Cafe with great gluten free options including a huge selection of GF cakes. The staff and the chef were friendly and very welcoming.

We wandered past the busy Grassmarket streets and came upon this delightful surprise. The service was friendly and helpful, the food was wonderful (soup and tuna baguette) and the price was reasonable. Very well done!!

Il y a vraiment de tout pour ceux qui n’aiment pas le vrai petit déjeuner anglais mais aussi pour ceux qui veulent tester le petit déjeuner anglais ou écossais. A friendly and accommodating cafe. Quiche was fresh, tasty and properly home made. Salad was nicely dressed and frites were crisp and non greasy. The cakes looked divine and French patisserie style. Thank you for a lovely meal!

Friendly and unpretentious French-style cafe with a relaxed atmosphere and BEAUTIFUL cakes including a whole shelf of Gluten Free. What’s more you would never have guessed they were gluten free by the taste or texture, best I have had in cafe by a mile.

Tea room incroyable, tellement bon.. avons pris une baguette avec brie, tomates, roquette et un gâteau aux carottes… délicieux… et les thés sont excellents. Tout est fait maison avec le cœur. When I entered the staff was very welcoming. We were also seated nearly immediately. The food was also really amazing and I enjoyed every I ate of the food I was eating.

This cafe was recommended on a blog highlighting some gluten free eateries in Edinburgh. I'm so glad I went! As a coeliac, I need to be super careful with where I eat, but I was immediately reassured by the kind staff working there. All of the gluten free options were explained to me - there were so many! I ended up buying a number of cakes on top of my English Breakfast - everything was delicious! The cakes were so tasty and light! It's rare that I feel compelled to write a review, but this place truly was an amazing find and I can't wait to return when I'm next in the area! Thank you :)

Can’t believe it is four years since we were last here, but it is still as good as ever. We had a burger, bagel and then cakes. Most excellent food and Madame and the staff were charming, even though everywhere was very busy. It wasn’t badly priced for the middle of Edinburgh, in the middle of August.

My brother in law reckons this is the best cooked breakfast he has ever had! Here for the Fringe and everywhere is busy... This little gem of a cafe not only did a great breakfast but toasties, coffee and bagels too. Check it out.

L'Etoile Salon de Tea is a charming little french cafe with a selection of patisserie - both gluten-free and regular. One of the owners is celiac, so they are very knowledgeable about safe gluten free preparation. We had some wonderful open-faced sandwiches for lunch one day, and returned for a delicious breakfast another. Lovely staff and food.

We chose this cafe for its gluten free options, as I have Celiacs disease. We found the breakfast to be well presented and well prepared. The gluten free deserts were great. To correct another reviewer, there are many other desert options with gluten.
