Rubicon Kitchen in West Dorset

Had the fish taco and fries. Stunning presentation and fries hot. Excellent choice of beers and wine, friendly speedy service… highly recommended if you are in the area. Definitely will return.

Lovely Spot for fish and chips. Plenty of variety on offer . Batter on the fish was delicious, really puffed up crunchy and light . Fish flaked really nicely and the chips were skin on which a great suprise and gave them that bit extra over bog standard chip shop chips. Was tired and hungry after a long day at work, this was just what I needed to finish off the day.

Great little place, we shared a seafood platter, the best we've even had. Perfect amount and perfectly cooked. Will definitely be back when we're in the area.

Had the crispy calamari and it was amazing. It was cooked just right and the batter was perfectly crispy and not thick at all. You got loads of calamari. The salad had a beautiful dressing and the Mayo complimented the calamari. I will be heading back before our holiday is over to try another dish off the menu.

We stopped here for lunch following a canoe trip up the river Brit (subject of a separate review for West Bay Canoes). Whilst it doesn't look much and there are more picturesque areas to ear round by the beach in West Bay as opposed to near a road, other eating joints and the harbour (which isn't particularly great) and there are public toilets nearby (closed at the moment), this is a fantastic place to eat. A 'pop up' kitchen using another business premises when the owner is away, Rubicon offer utterly fantastic food. We just wanted a light lunch as we were out in the evening. We spotted 'fish taco's' on the menu and having had them elsewhere and enjoyed them, we thought we'd have them here too and WOW!!! They were utterly fantastic! To have good come out like this was completely unexpected. They really were superb. We saw other people having different choices from the menu and again, what came out, looked amazing! Price wise, it was very reasonable. I would happily have paid more for what we ate. Downside, there wasn't much for small children. But the eating joints next door offer sandwiches, so all good! There is dedicated seating right in front of 'Rachel's', the premises which Rubicon Kitchen were using. Highly recommended!!

Food was exceptionally fresh we could see it being prepared. We had had food envy prior to the arrival of our fish tacos, the salsa verde was sublime. We will be coming again to sample the fish platter.
