Katana Japanese Cuisine

Greyfriars, South Kesteven
08/07/2020: Grantham is quite a small town and there is quite a shortage on high quality yet fun and accomodating venues! Katana is the exception! From eggs in a hat to your food being cooked infront of you to eggs being thrown in your mouth! Just a very fun place hahahahahaHighly recommend!!
05/07/2020: Our first meal in a restaurant for 4 months and what a treat, despite the Coronavirus precautions we felt welcomed as soon as we arrived. We opted for a set menu of starters followed by Teppanyaki and a dessert. The starter was a nice mix with dumplings, sushi and spring roll all cooked and prepared perfectly. The star of the evening was Mani our Teppanyaki chef, his cooking of our main course was pure theatre showcasing his skill juggling his cooking tools and producing tasty, perfectly cooked steak, chicken, salmon and side dishes. A great meal and a fitting first night out after lockdown. Will definitely return and highly recommend Katana.

Sushi Me Rollin'

Westgate, Newcastle upon Tyne
02/06/2020: Great sushi and great customer service! The guys were very understanding after we made a mistake placing our order. We accidentally booked two takeaway orders but the guys were great and provided a refund for our second mistaken order whilst letting us keep both lots of food. Great customer service and even better food!!
10/05/2020: This is now my go to place for sushi. Gorgeous and fresh and stunningly presented. Myself and my partner always spend too much because we just want it all, we often just ask for a couple of specific items and then ask the guys to add whatever they like as we know we’ll never be disappointed with what we are given. The guys are so friendly and create such a lovely atmosphere. Would recommend that all sushi lovers and sushi virgins try this place!

Minster and Woodmansey, East Riding of Yorkshire, 30-45£
10/03/2020: Take a trip to Ogino and you will not be disappointed. From the first class service as you arrive to the amazing food and friendly welcome. The sushi is some of the best outside Japan. If you want to make an occasion truly special then a trip to Ogino is the answer!!
02/03/2020: (Traducido por Google) Puede ser costoso pero realmente vale la pena. Ofertas muy razonables también! Definitivamente considera tratarte a ti mismo (Original) Can be expensive but really worth it. Very reasonable deals too! Definitely consider treating yourself

A.S Sushi & More

Dorchester North, West Dorset
13/06/2020: Amazing sushi and great service. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Lovely beers. We will be back again!
12/06/2020: We ordered a celebration meal for Charlie's 18th and it was superb! From the pick up at the restaurant to the wonderful meal!

Kyoto Kitchen

St Bartholomew, Winchester, 45-60£
17/03/2020: Due to virus my wife didn’t want to go out tonight for her birthdayOrdered takeaway from KyotoAbsolutely fabulous throughout Shared a bottle of Whispering Angel Provence Rose Couldn’t have had a better mealWinchester deserted , only one diner in Kyoto when I picked up takeawayNot good time for Restaurants!Thank you Kyoto
17/03/2020: We visited for the tasting menu with sake and found it to be pretty good value for a special meal out. Everything well cooked and presented, the stand out dishes were the beef tataki - very tender and full of flavour; the sea bass maki with plum dust - bit of a revelation will be ordering and using plum dust in my own cooking; and the chicken teriyaki which was moist, crisp, sweet, salty and probably one of the best things you can do to a chicken. Nice to taste a variety of sake, whisky and plum wine alongside.I would have liked slightly more generous portions of sashimi but what was served was fresh and delicious. Will definitely be back!

DOMO Japanese Cuisine

Low Harrogate, Harrogate
20/05/2020: I ordered takeaway from here and have heard great things about the restaurant. The owners were very nice and had our food ready on time for pickup. I really enjoyed the spicy tuna roll and volcano roll. The tempura on the outside was great and the sauces on top were good. I liked how we could also takeaway some soki to have at home!We will definitely eat here again.
18/03/2020: It was our 58th wedding anniversary; where to have a special lunch? Luckily, in spite of the virus scare, Domo was open for business, and we were made very welcome. We chose sushi starters, followed by salmon teriyaki for my wife, while I chose the beef teriyaki. The beef was listed as sirloin steak, but it was so tender and succulent that I was convinced I had been given fillet steak. Dessert was a shared selection of Japanese cakes accompanied by a large pot of green tea. The whole experience was a delight, and we look forward to returning for more of the same before too long!

College, Cheltenham
19/03/2020: No matter how many times we go here (and it's a fair few) we're always delighted by the wonderful presentation, amazing flavours and fabulous drinks. It's not simply a meal out but a holistic dining experience that blends Andrew's supreme culinary talents with a real sense of passion for his Japanese heritage. Completing this winning combination is a brilliant team that are professional, efficient, genuine and great fun.
15/03/2020: What a fantastic restaurant we have in Cheltenham. The staff , service and food were excellent. Chef Koj explained the menu, dishes and the saki ! Very enjoyable time had by all. Will recommend to everyone we know and certainly be back for more !

Sticks'N'Sushi Covent Garden

St James's, City of London,Westminster
07/07/2020: Impossible to say no to Matt! “Let's go to Stick'n sushi”. My best friend said it after we both walked all over Soho and some places in Covent Garden, all closed. But, like an oasis in the middle of the desert, Stick's sushi was open, thank God! And was perfect, from heaven to the table, an unforgetable customer service. Matt, OMG!! The guy must win a gold medal for his service. He was so happy to be there, working with all care and with a genuine smile on his beautiful young face. He was great! He read our mind offering exactly what we want to eat and to drink, great tea and the coffee was divine, impossible to say no to Matt! It was not our first time at Stick'n Sushi in Covent Garden and, for sure, we will be back! Congratulations for having a great person as a team member and to keep the food quality in high standart even during this hard time. If you love sushi, this is a place you must go.
05/07/2020: Terrible service and avarage food. Our booking was at 8:30, arrived on time, our first approached was: Kitchen is closing at 9, i guess after 4months closed Good evening is not an option anymore. Order done, all food in 10 minutes on the Tbl with no space and plates on the sofa. Food going cold as Chef wanted probably to go home at 8:45.Waiters forgot to send a sashimi platter and with kitchen already closed and us being still hungry promise some desert that never arrived. Not sure who would like an experience like that.

Sushi Tetsu

Clerkenwell, Islington
01/03/2020: Superb selection and simply some of the best sushi I have ever tasted. We will be back again very soon!
29/02/2020: Having lives in Tokyo for 3 years and Asia 19 years I had given up on finding great authentic Sushi served in Japanese style setting. Look no further. Awesome food, service and sake. Wonderful evening and will be back with wife. Knocks socks off other imitations.

Koko Restaurant

Broomhill, Sheffield
07/03/2020: This was my first visit to this restaurant in fact my first taste of Japanese food. I’ve never seen dishes which look quite so exquisite and tasted superb. There were 7 of us in the party including another couple of Japanese food virgins. We ordered two platters of the KoKo sushi selection to start then various mains. I ordered the chicken which was so moist and succulent. Some of our party ordered desserts which they enjoyed and some ordered from the extensive Whisky menu. Our waiter was super attentive and helpful. The only glitch was the toilet which blocked, this meant 2 or 3 of us had to go next door to use the loo. We do not live in Sheffield but those who do have used KoKo before and I’m sure will be back.
21/02/2020: Visited Koko for the first time after purchasing a voucher. Will definitely be back. Excellent food, so flavourful and fresh, it does take a little while to be served but it’s absolutely worth it. Along with fantastic customer service. Both the waiters were incredibly friendly, warm and welcoming. The restaurant is small but has a wonderful atmosphere - no hint of pretentiousness, even when I asked for a fork as my chopsticks skills are lacking! The chefs treats are a lovely little touch. Thank you for a lovely evening team Koko :)

Alley Katsu

Hertford Castle, East Hertfordshire
15/03/2020: Went yesterday for an early dinner at 6pm and the place was already packed. Had seared beef and chicken dumplings to start and they were absolutely delicious, then we had chicken Katsu that again was delicious. Staff are all really lovely and has a great vibe in there. Looking forward to going back again soon. A great little place
15/03/2020: Had a great meal on sat eve. Lovely staff and great food! The only thing they need to do is close a little later on the weekend as 9.30 is always very strict and too early for a restaurant on the weekend.

City Centre, Manchester, 60-100£
10/03/2020: Our favourite place to eat in Manchester. We frequently come to Samsi’s before going to a gig. Great staff and consistently great food at reasonable prices. As a regular visitor I would perhaps say that the menu could be a little more seasonal for a bit more variety and maybe add some lesser-known Japanese treats or specials but this is a small issue and not a problem if you’re only visiting the once. Highly recommended.
02/03/2020: Wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised.Nice surroundings, good menu, reasonably authentic both food and drinks. Bento boxes good and generally genuine Japanese food. Worth a visit .

The Sushi Maki

Victoria, West Berkshire
25/06/2020: Jeannette, our waitress, is one of the best service providers profesional we have ever had!!! Thank you very much. The restaurant is offering an outstanding service considerable to the Covid-19 measures. The food is fresh and rich in flavors. The menu is very diverse.
30/05/2020: Pre-Lockdown, we've eaten in the Newbury restaurant & love it. I ordered a sharing platter for my Dad's birthday lunch as my parents are stuck at home. It was a thing of beauty! The staff are lovely: both the guy who called to confirm the order, & the delivery guy who managed to find us. I absolutely recommend.

Ebi Sushi Restaurant

Arboretum, Derby
11/03/2020: Friends suggested dinner at this Sushi Restaurant and we were not disapointed, although it is located in an odd location the food was sensational and the staff were very helpful in guiding us through the menu, it is very popular with Japanese who work for Toyota & Rolls Royce so it is best to book well in advance and not too late as it empties by 22-00.
07/03/2020: After having it on my “To Do” list for what seems like forever, I finally made it to Ebi Sushi last night. For the uninitiated; the restaurant was originally conceived to give workers at the nearby Toyota factory, their families and clients a taste of home. To enter the unassuming facade, through the bead curtain, is to be immediately transported 6000 miles to Japan. The specials board, the TV, the chatter around the room are all Japanese. You can scarcely believe that you’re still in the English East Midlands and it’s wonderful. The sushi and sashimi is prepared by the Itamae (highly trained Japanese chef) at the counter in the corner. You can marvel at his knife skills and dexterity as he prepares maki and nigiri and lavish platters of precisely sliced sashimi. Everything I ate had the same clean, fresh, precise flavours and seasoning that you could expect in high-end restaurants in Tokyo. Ebi is unapologetically Japanese. Few concessions are made to Englishness and the place is all the better for it. For some, it could be a little intimidating at first (especially if you’ve never visited Japan and don’t speak or read Japanese). However, the longer you stay, soaking up the feel of it (and your sake), eating delicious sushi, the more you start to love it. It’s certainly not cheap, but the quality of the fish and its expert preparation more than justify the price. It’s certainly a lot cheaper (and much quicker) than a plane ride to Kyoto.Ebi Sushi is a hidden diamond in the generally sparse rough of Derby’s culinary scene. It’s also a place (along with Tapas bar Lorentes on Friar Gate) that transports you to another world in a truly authentic way.I’ll definitely be back.Kanpai! Domo arigato gozaimasu.
