I went to the local Chiropractor in July, and upon leaving I decided to buy sushi instead of cooking dinner. To my surprise, it was amazing. This is the best sushi I have ever eaten. I have been to other sushi bars, and they cannot compare to Sushi Tama. Since I first tasted their sushi, it has become my favourite place and I have been visiting them every two weeks. I would highly recommend Sushi Tama if anyone wants to eat quality sushi. 10 out of 10 for service.

Little spot with three tables but it has its charm. Probably this place it’s more for takeaway or delivery. Lovely sushi with a good variety selection. Probably you can get this quality in central London too but double in price. Definitely worth visiting if you are around.

Haven’t been here for over three years and still my favourite Sushi bar in Greater London. Was lovely to see the same friendly couple rubbing the business. I had takeaway California Roll Deluxe - my old favourite. Hand made right there and then in 10 mins. Sensational!! Free complimentary miso soup for car ride home. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. Can’t wait for next instalment.

Previously coming from Hong Kong, it was hard to find a sushi place that I found was really good. However, I used to live near the area a couple years ago and i tried it out and it is still the best sushi i have ever tasted in London. The sushi is kept at room temperature and not in a fridge which makes it so much better. The prices are reasonable and the serves are so friendly. You even get misu soup free of charge to go with you order, as many cups that are required. They have a freezer bar with chilled drinks such as Aloe Vera and other oriental drinks. I live about an hour away from Sushi Tama now but I still drive the distance every time i crave sushi because i cant go back to chilled or store bought sushi. Its just not the same. Its also so good that almost every year, I order sushi from here for my birthday

Fabulous sushi combos. Love Titanic, Lambada, 999, California Deluxe and Unagi Donburi in particular. Super fresh and high quality ingredients mean you can taste all the individual flavours. You won’t want to drown these in Wasabi and soy. Some of the best sushi we have had anywhere.

Last time we ordered it was for my family of 3, now with easing of restrictions we could have another 3 family members. We decided that Tama Sushi was a great idea as we thought eating in the garden was still best & you can pick it up earlier so you’re more in control of when you can eat. And it’s mostly cold food anyway. The sashimi is lovely & so fresh (& it’s my favourite & I ordered) so we had 2 trays of the mixed tuna/salmon & 1 yellowtail. The rest of the order was a mixture of everything. For £17 per person we all had plenty to eat. I definitely recommend as it’s good value but most importantly really tasty.

Honestly the sushi here beats the sushi bar at Harrods! I’ve eaten sushi all over the world and this little place has some of the best I’ve ever eaten. So flavoursome and great sized portions and I feel very reasonably priced for the quality you get! I buy from here at least once a week and it really is delicious. I thought the “1 star” rater (John C ) was being overly critical, and judging by all his other reviews he seems quite pernickety with super high expectations. I had dinner here because a local/ regular customer had recommended it to me and I was pleasantly surprised. Ok, its not Nobu but, the quality was decent and the price is reasonable for sushi. I found the staff super friendly and for a weds the phone rang non stop. If you want casual dining, a spot of lunch or a sushi take away at a reasonable price, sushi tama hits the spot.

Having heard about this place very recently from a family member, I popped in and ordered the Crazy Horse rolls. Despite not pre-ordering, the food was ready within 10-15 minutes and, as another reviewer mentioned, a complimentary cup of miso soup given whilst I waited. You do get what you pay for, particularly with sushi - and whilst not a cheap meal by any means, the quality was beyond reproach. I cannot think of any other sushi I have enjoyed more from a takeaway or restaurant, in about a 3 mile radius. I decided to come here for a pre-work meal while I was in Sutton for the evening, since I hadn't had sushi for a while and, after seeing nothing but positive reviews on here, I thought it would be worth a visit. Unfortunately the food here didn't match up to other sushi places that I have been to, as the sashimi was poor and the only things worth any praise were the wasabi and ginger. The staff here are Korean rather than Japanese. While they are incredibly friendly, their English isn't all that great. This may have been why I was provided with the wrong order during my visit. Unfortunately the dish I didn't want was more expensive and this is the one I was charged for, even though I didn't want it. Customers would be advised to make sure they know the prices beforehand while, if you take away, it would be a good idea to check your order before leaving. The menu here consists almost entirely of sushi and sashimi, with very few other options. The other options which are available are miso soup, edamame, various salads and unaju donburi. Only two of the four salads don't contain fish, so this place definitely isn't for you if raw fish isn't your thing. They don't sell desserts either, with this place simply being a sushi joint. The sushi list is quite extensive, with there being around 45 different kinds available, although the sashimi is rather limited, with there only being three different kinds on the menu. The menu is further extended by the inclusion of various mixed sushi or sashimi sets, allowing you to try a variety of different things. All of these, with the exception of the sashimi combo, also include miso soup. As I like to try a variety of things, I decided to order the mixed sushi set since this came with seven different kinds of sushi. However, I was given the sashimi combo instead.Despite the fact that the sashimi combo doesn't include miso soup, I received this before anything else, so I'm not really sure what went wrong with my order. The menu lists the soup as coming with tofu, spring onion and wakame seaweed. However, mine only included the wakame seaweed. Perhaps you are supposed to get less in the ones which are part of a set meal. This is served in a paper coffee cup, like you get in coffee shops, which was rather surprising. The soup itself seemed to be a bit better than average with the flavour of the miso being much stronger than that of the water, providing a nice salty and savoury flavour. The wakame was great too. It soaked up the soup rather well and, in spite of its slimy texture, it was rather pleasing to consume, providing something different, which the soup couldn't offer by itself.I received the wrong order for my main course, being provided with the sashimi combo instead of the sushi combo. The sashimi combo comes with three pieces of tuna, three pieces of salmon, three pieces of hamachi and three pieces of tai. This was far from the variety which the sushi combo offered. This course came with wasabi and ginger, while there was also a large daikon salad. All four kinds of sashimi were rather similar to each other, with the exception of the tai, which was smooth and tender. The other three kinds of fish were all fairly rough, while every single one of the four had a fairly weak flavour, with there only being subtle flavours on offer. The wasabi and ginger were incredibly good though, with both of these having a much stronger flavour than usual. This was particularly the case for the wasabi, of which you only needed a small amount in order to notice the spiciness. The daikon salad was rather poor as this was excessively hard and watery, even for daikon salad, which is usually along these lines anyway, while it was also bland other than a rather bitter flavour, which wasn't entirely pleasant. The service here would have been really good if it wasn't the fact that I had been provided with the wrong order. Their are two members of staff inside, one of whom is the chef, while the other deals with the orders. The lady dealing with the orders was incredibly polite and friendly throughout the duration of my visit and she made me feel very welcome inside. The staff are Korean rather than Japanese though, but that seems to be commonplace within Japanese restaurants in the UK. The lady's English seemed fairly good, but it was somewhat limited as communication was difficult at times, while it appeared that the chef barely spoke English at all as attempts at communication with him were met with nods. I'm not really sure what went wrong with my order as I most definitely ordered the sushi combo rather than the sashimi combo. Not only do I know the difference, but I speak Japanese and there is no way that I made an error. The fact that I was provided with miso soup for no extra charge, which the sushi combo comes with, while the sashimi combo doesn't, proves that there was some sort of mistake on their end with my order. However, the sashimi combo is more expensive than the sushi combo and I was charged for the more expensive item, which isn't what I wanted. The prices here are obviously expensive, but then sushi always is. The prices are probably fairly average as fair as sushi goes. Depending on what you ordered, sushi cost between £2.50 to £4 for two, while sashimi were £7.50-£9 for half, while full size was twice the price. It's strange that there was no discount to be found on ordering these at full size, as this offers little incentive to order a larger portion than you ordinarily would have. The prices for the sushi rolls were wildly different here, with some costing as little as £3, while the most expensive one cost a mighty £11. The rolls came with 6-8 pieces, but the menu makes no indication of which ones come with six and which ones come with eight. There are various sushi and sashimi combinations available but, while these come with a lot, the savings are minimal, so they are not as great an offer as they initially appear and you perhaps better off simply ordering what you like best if you are after something specific. This place is a rather narrow but somewhat long shop and while there is a fair amount of space inside, a lot of this is taken up by three tables. This are all rather large, but they are only designed to seat two people at each table, which means that there isn't much room available for people to eat in. Because of this, the place seems best suited for customers to take their food away to eat elsewhere. In terms decor, the place is relatively plain, but there are a large number of small framed pictures of sushi running along one wall inside. The food is also prepared in front of you at the counter, despite the fact that there appears to be a kitchen area out the back.

We have been waiting for so many years for a sushi restaurant to open in Cheam and Sushi Tama has definitely not disappointed. The staff are charming and friendly and the sushi is excellent value for money. There are 3 small tables in the restaurant although most people seemed to be opting for take-aways. If you have more time on your hands, take the time to eat in the restaurant which is relaxing and clean. A great visit that we will definitely be visiting again soon!

I love Japanese food and have been waiting for an authentic Japanese restaurant to open in the Sutton and Cheam area for years. I am so happy that Sushi Tama is now here. The food is always great - fresh and beautifully presented always. There is no comparison between this great little restaurant and the large sushi chains. I would highly recommend a visit to this place.

We really like this place. The chef is super friendly and the food is fantastic! Last night we had several different nigiri, some sashimi, avocado maki, and a california roll with eel which was superb. This is the best Japanese food for miles around - highly recommended.

Very fresh and very tasty hand prepared Sushi by the chef who was in traditional Japanese dress. The floor space in the restaurant is limited and there are just three tables, but takeaway is a good option too. The Sushi and Sashimi were both beautiful and the set menus are amazing value in fact this has to be amongst the best sushi I have ever tasted. The portions are very generous and beautifully presented. I can't wait to go back

First time visitors and very happy with the decision. Spicy California rolls, crispy prawn, Rainbow and even the salmon and avocado salad all cooked superbly. It is literally melt in the mouth stuff. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Only problem is lack of tables as only 3 are available. If you like Sushi and Sashimi, then you owe yourself a visit. Highly recommended.

Recently opened, just as good as all the other reviewers say is. Sushi and rolls are all very fresh and tasty, it's just round the corner so we will be back soon. It's also very good value for this kind of food in London.

My wife and I had to overnight in Cheam and were joking about wanting sushi-- and then saw this place. It's not the very greatest sushi bar I've been (like Hawaii) at but it's close, and it's in the UK! For 39 pounds we pigged our way through the menu and would have ordered more if we were able. Superb value, very fresh. Had to use packets of soy, although they were high end, I would suggest soy in a bottle for the tables. I hope this place is around forever.

This is a hidden gem and great new addition to Cheam. I am a big fan of Sushi and anything Asian really! I usually eat sushi a couple of times a week and I have to say that Sushi Tama is incredible fresh and is my new favorite! I truly hope everyone supports this new local sushi place as I would hate to see it go! Can't recommend it highly enough!

A wonderful addition to Cheam Village. Incredibly fresh, simply delicious and beautifully presented. What's more, it's just about as healthy as you can get!The place was meticulously clean and the owner was polite, gracious and helpful. It was also very good value and quite filling, particularly as we began with Miso.Three small tables and chairs and minimalist but very attractive décor. You can eat it, as well as take away. They don't sell alcohol though, so it's more of a place to drop in for lunch, a snack or on your way home from work. I can't stress though, how fresh, well presented and delicious it was. One of my favourites in Cheam!

A small but authentic Japanese restaurant with nice Japanese speaking staff (or owner?). Sashimi and sushi are delicious. Feels like I am having my dinner in Japan.🍣

Came here with partner for Valentine's Lunch. Delicious Korean BBQ. Now don't have to go to New Malden. OK for standard sized wheelchair access as well.
