I'll just add to the praise about this absolute gem of a place. Super chilled out and really cosy. We got the big set menu but it's also very much open to people wanting smaller meals. All the food we ate was amazing, and everyone else's also looked super.

This place is an absolute hidden gem. We absolutely loved our visit. Went for my partner's birthday and the guy serving was very friendly and entertaining. He made a fuss of my partner and gave him a free shot of sake. The food was delicious and good value considering everything you get (meat/fish, egg fried rice, salad, beansprouts). We had so much rice left over we took it home. A really lovely, cosy and authentic place. Highly recommend.

Excellent food, we have been to the other teppanyaki venues in Sheffield and this is the best. There is 1 grill with 8 seats around it and the chef does everything. He was engages with the customers, very enjoyable evening.

An absolutely wonderful place. I encountered it whilst looking for more Japanese restaurants to visit, and was pleasantly surprised to find one outside of my original purview. The overall vibe of the place was excellent, and the chef was a delight to watch prepare the food we ordered and to converse with. Particularly good to go to on a cold day! The food itself was incredible. We had the Kajiya Special, and each dish was just as delicious as the last. The beef sirloin was especially delicious. I would definitely recommend visiting if you ever find yourself in the area and are looking for a place to eat. You certainly won't regret it! I'll definitely be visiting again.

Just the owner and a maximum of 8 guests sit back relax and enjoy the fun experience of the owner cooking for you. We had a brilliant night for our wedding anniversary and the other 6 guests were excellent company to be in drinking chatting with the chef and watching everyone's meals being cook infront of you. You definitely won't be disappointed and the portions are of good size .thanks for a great night. Definitely recommend and see you again in the near future.

We had a great experience at Kaiyjia! We all did set menus. There is 1 teppan grill which seats 8 guests so we booked for 8. The food was very flavourful and the host was great. The portion sizes and amount of food were great and the atmosphere was nice as it’s like having a private dining experience just for us guests. Would deffo visit again!

A great authentic local spot, an intimate venue with a great host and incredible food, we will be returning whenever we visit Sheffield, an absolute must.

What a little gem of a place. One large teppanyaki table, 8 seats, great food and a great atmosphere. Given its size and the one table set up it’s very intimate. We went with 3 but ended up having such a laugh with 5 guys who came to celebrate one of their birthdays. Don’t worry about who might end up joining you, if they’ve found this place they’re probably worth having a chat with, and it’s easy to keep to yourselves if you prefer. I’ve been to a lot of teppanyaki restaurants over the years and this is right up there despite being a fraction of the cost of its equivalents in Hong Kong or New York. Yeah ok, the location and decor might not be the same as the mega-cities but the food is as good and the intimacy of the location is actually better. Kudos to the owner and chef. He’s really created something a little special and different in Sheffield.

This is an experience as much as eating out. Seated around a small table, the head chef hosts an intimate cooking session of genuinely incredible quality. Can't recommend enough, as an experience and a meal.

10/10, we went for Valentine’s Day the first time and then the second for my partners birthday. Amazing food and great service! First time we went he got us involved and my partner had a turn chopping some egg, both times we caught egg in our mouth (sounds more fun then it sounds haha) We ordered the sea food set meal both times as it was so delicious. We even got to take left overs home as he made us so much food.

He provides top tier service along with delicious food made with a lot of care. Portion sizes were very generous, the food is made to your taste and the prices are very good too. This restaurant only has one employee. The chef is the owner, cook and dishwasher. He is more than just a chef though. He is also an entertainer. Engaging with all his diners with charismatic flair, humor and captivating showmanship. His warmth and hospitality is unmatched and it will make your dining worthwhile.

Great place, with excellent service from the chef and really tasty food. I had the sirloin which was lovely and the fried rice was some of the tastiest I had ever had. The portions were a lot bigger than expected and we ended up taking some home, so thought the price was reasonable.

I have been here many many times. The food is always absolutely amazing. The meat is always cooked to perfection, and the prawns are phenomenal! By far the best teppanyaki I’ve been to. The chef is personable, attentive, and clearly takes pride in his work as his cleanliness and hygiene are flawless. Always caters to your needs and tastes. The food is very reasonably priced. I’ve never left there disappointed. Would very highly recommend.

Absolutely phenomenal food! My partner and I came here at lunch for a special occasion and got the hibachi set chicken thighs and sirloin steak. It was plenty of food (we should have come hungrier) and we only just managed dessert. The set came with miso soup, salad, the chicken/steak, fried rice and fried bean sprouts. Tbh I thought the bean sprouts were an odd addition - I didn't know you could make them be actually tasty! Hoping to drag my parents here sometime, this place is too good to be kept a secret.

We ordered the Hibachi Chicken Thighs and Hibachi Lobster Tail. The food was absolutely fantastic and everything tasted amazing! The atmosphere itself is lovely and cozy, it can seat ~10 people comfortably. The chef was nice and friendly, asking if our food was okay, what spice level we wanted the food to be, etc. The price for the quality, taste, and amount of food you get is amazing. There was loads of food and we weren’t able to finish it all (but the chef did ask if we wanted it in a box to go) Overall it was amazing and would highly recommend!

A fantastic spot for both lunch and dinner in the city centre, hosting traditional Japanese cuisine. The food and service is impeccable with a variety of options for all diners (vegetarian options also available), highly recommend the Hibachi Prawn or Salmon. There's nothing better than seeing fresh ingredients being cooked right in front of you! Thank you very much for a special lunch, will definitely be back soon!

What a little gem of a restaurant! My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday and I can't recommend it highly enough. Tucked away on a little side street, you'd easily walk past without noticing it, however I'm so glad we gave it a try. The food was beautifully cooked, to our preferred spice level and tastes, and the chef/owner was a delight to chat to. We will definitely be back! Thank you :)

Amazing little restaurant and cheaper than other teppanyaki restaurants! I accidentally came across it while looking at something else on Google Maps and I’m glad I did. I popped in during lunch hours and had the meat feast set option. The sirloin steak was very succulent. The chef is the owner with tonnes of experience and caters to your preferences. I have no allergies but 10/10 to him for still asking before prepping all dishes. He really knows his stuff!

What an amazing little restaurant; hidden away on North Church Street but well worth seeking out! We arrived for lunch service shortly after opening and were greeted by the chef & owner. During the cooking and our meal we conversed with the chef about the food, cooking process, and the traditions of this kind of restaurant. All the food was beautifully cooked right before our eyes and served piping hot. You're meant to eat as the chef cooks for you, rather than waiting for a meal to be complete. This is a nice departure from traditional Western practice. We'll be back here without a doubt to try some other items from the menu.
