Guyshi in Sheffield

Good starters and sushi then crazy bbq. You cook your own meat over coals. We got a set menu that seemed to have a lot of fatty meat so it dripped fat and burned a lot. I personally like burned fatty meat but if you go maybe pay more attention to what you're getting if you're a bit fat squeemish. It is a lot of fun. I love bbqing, I like fire, I like messing with things. It made us chuckle and gave the meal a fun focus. I'm glad I've tried it and I'd do it again.

Booked in advance on the same day; was not warned that the heating wasn't working. It was freezing. Admittedly I've been spoiled having Yakiniku in Japan 3/4 times now, but this was very disappointing in comparison. I intended to order the A5 Wagyu as a treat, but couldn't consider it given the relative quality of the other meats. The prawns were very good though. £30/bottle for the cheapest house white. Will not return.

Very disappointed to have received this £15 Gyudon takeaway, quite a big drop in standards from previous orders. This just show: ‘We don’t really care, here you have it’ Not going to order again if this persist.

I went for the first time with my partner recently for our anniversary and it was just amazing. The decor and layout was beautiful, the food and quality of the meat was fantastic, and the staff, especially Gigi (her homemade chilli powder is incredible by the way!) were just wonderful to us throughout. Super happy ❤️

First time eating this type of cuisine. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and we were shown to our booth upstairs which which gave us some privacy . Staff were very friendly but seemed very unexperienced , was asked about 4 times if everything was ok. The food was extremely expensive for what it was, we left hungry despite the bill being over £80 with only 1 soft drink each (2 people) . The portion of rice was small. We could not fault the starters, the octopus balls were delicious! If you’re looking for a good feed and don't like waiting for your food to cook in front of you while your stomach growls i would avoid, but if you’re a small eater and enjoy the novelty of cooking meat on a coal grill this could be for you. This is not a bad establishment it’s just not for us.

Recently came back for the unlimited choice menu. First of all its not unlimited, it's capped at 3 items per person for three rounds. Therefore it shouldn't be called unlimited . Service extremely slow despite us being the only table there at 5pm and only 4 tables with. A total of 10 people by 6pm. We waited nearly 25 minutes between our first and next round. By then they had put through round &3 out together. Takoyaki and karage very good as well as the pork belly. Beef belly not as good as it previously was. The service has been the biggest let down. If the service is so slow with 10 customers in...How do they manage when it's full house? Wouldn't come back desire driving nearly a hour one way just to dine here. . . . . . . . Came here for the buffet menu. Great concept great value for money. Be open minded that you are not going to get high end quality for the price you pay. Each person gets to choose 3 things per round, max 4 rounds, 90mins. We ordered a big selection of food and in general every thing was good... Pass on the sirloin and rib eye as they was tough Beef belly was very good... Very good!!! Chicken karage...Must Cheese scallops, must Eel Donburi was a good choice as with salmon sashimi My only criticism is that the draft cola came in a small tumbler filled with ice. And some of the ordering portion size don't make sense... One quota for a plate of beef belly is one quota for one piece of nigiri... Which dont really make sense. Other than that, had a great meal and will be back for sure

Absolutely MEGA! Down the the finest of details our experience at Guyshi Bar was phenomenal. I’ll be back for sure. Big thanks to all the staff! Shout to Dan as well for talking us through the menu. Also thank you for my birthday gifts.

Ended up having a last minute birthday meal here after another restaurant let me down, and I was happy they did. Had a great dining experience with family and the platter looked amazing.

I went to Guyshi for the first time yesterday and it was such a wonderful experience. The staff were all so friendly and greeted us with a smile, especially Gigi who brightened the gloomy day. Not to mention, the food is amazing, taste wise and also with presentation. Would highly recommend!

Been here quiet a few time and never disappointed me, we had BBQ charcoal and it was the best one I have been to, the food service was great and the staff was friendly, we had a staff name GIGI she grill the meat for us, overall the foods and atmosphere is perfect.

Quick healthy light miso soup and rice with a flower tea 🌸

Myself and my friend came to Guyshi on Friday 19th and we had Sushi (mine was a dragon roll, shown in the pictures) and beef and pork belly which you cook yourself. The food came out very fast and staff were very friendly. We didn’t get told how long to cook any of the raw meat however we soon discovered that it did not take long at all and most of which you cook to your own preference. It was very very tasty and you are given a selection of sauces to dip into. Overall we both really enjoyed our meal. Thankyou and well done!

Some of staff members were lack of attentiveness. But whole atmosphere here was good. Meat, rice dishes, karage, sashimi, sake etc… were all fine.

Had a meal here with my parents, we opted for the set menu 2 and a combination of starters, the amount of food shocked us with the two person set being ample for all 3 of us! The meats were seasoned and had generous amounts of sauce on top adding to the flavours when we grilled them. Starters were lovely. The restaurant is beautifully themed and seating arrangements are great. Will definitly be back again and will recommend to my friends!

Horrible noodle I ever had!!! Not even fried, frozen noodle salad the name would be great. Even one item was missing, very disappointed!

Had a fantastic time at Guyshi recently for a special occasion, the service was impeccable from our waiter Callum and we were lucky enough to have one of the private rooms upstairs which was great! Food was really good and the sushi was the best I’ve tried. Highly recommend and definitely will be back.

So first time I went lovly service and great food I decided to book again for 7 people following weekend after my birthday. Day before I rang to check up add a member and QnA they canceled the all you can eat (is wot I booked for) and changed the whole menu and pricing, not informing or ringing/email me or deciding to honouring the booking, i cancelled and went to estabulo Doncaster branch which was more professional and tastier we ended up spending up to £500 so this resturant lost out.

Brilliant dinner (shame info about timings of their all-you-can-eat buffet wasn't clearer) upstairs in one of the private rooms with an exceptional waitress, Kiki, who went above and beyond to make our evening wonderful.

Loved this restaurant so much. The staff were very nice and the aesthetics inside the restaurant are beautiful. My partner and I got the lunch menu, where you get miso soup, chose one started and one main. Honestly, great value (12.99£). The sizes for the mains were amazing, the starters came out piping hot and fresh and would definitely recommend ! The only thing I’d say is that the eel wasn’t very hot, it was more room temp, and the miso soup portion is very small but other than the the food was great ! The starters were the highlight for me, super fresh, the breading of the chicken was amazing and will definitely be coming back for more. The mains were very delicious as well and a great size! What we got: Miso soup, chicken kaarage, Tebasaki (chicken wings), Beef gyudon and Unagi donburi.

The quality of meal is not as good as expected with this price

My friend and I wanted to try this restaurant out however they did let us down massively. We went for the lunch deal but told it is not available anymore since it was 15:50 and the lunch deal finishes at 4pm, which is fair enough so instead we were told to pay extra for the dinner deal which we ended up going for. We ordered two cocktails and picked what we wanted to eat, then two random dishes appeared without us ordering? Anyway, sent those back then the same waitress told us no for the lunch deal now came back and said we could have the lunch deal cause the sushi was not ready yet, so they would not be able to provide the dinner deal anyway. I thought it is fine these things happen. Then we finally ordered food after 25 minutes. Another 10 minutes go by, then another waitress comes and says, there is an issue in the kitchen and we would have to wait for the food a bit longer but did not indicate how much longer. Another 20 minutes go by... by this time I think it was 5pm, we had our cocktails and someone else comes and apologies and the issue in the kitchen does not look like it would be solved so we should really finish our drinks and go somewhere else to eat. By this time I was very disappointed by the lack of communication and service, we were also starving! After all of this fuss you would think the two cocktails would be on them right? No you are wrong. We ended up paying £25 for two cocktails and left pretty unhappy.

This place was wonderful. went for the buffet and was really good value. Great quality food for what you payed and four rounds which is far more than enough, we ended up stuffed. Tay was very attentive and polite as were any other staff that looked after us. Would recommend

Absaloutly one of the best meals Iv ever had. Staff can’t do enough to help you and are so friendly. I don’t often visit a restaurant twice but I’ll definitely go back here

Not really a all you can eat buffet when you can only order for 4 rounds and 3 dish per person, even some lettuce to wrap my meat with counts as a dish 😂 The meat quality is terrible for a ‘bbq’ place. The sashimi was okay, but not worth your money for the amount you get. Advertised as 38.99 a person but it does NOT include VAT which not a single staff mentioned until we pay the bill bringing it to almost £100 for 2 person and we’re not even full 🤣 honestly regret coming here. Could have gone down to other places and they offer much better quality of food for way less price tag.

This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. I love Japanese food and this place did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was lovely and the service was really good. Will definitely be back again.

Nice atmosphere and really great staff. The eel nigiri is a must have. I cannot give a perfect rating because the grill is a bit too small, if you're in a party of 4 or more it will take a while to cook everything. I'd advise that you provide seasoning with the food as well as some meat like the pork will need it. Thanks for a good night and we enjoyed the robot waiter.

Not really a bufffet, very pricey at 38 a person, sushi was good quality but at the end the salmon was still partly frozen and hard

Absolutely beautiful food and SO MUCH OF IT. We went for the all you can eat lunchtime deal and omg was it worth the money. Be wary though, these are NOT small portions. This is full on, each choice is a meal in itself portions. I have an awkward allergy to onions, but they dealt with it so well. The food is so fresh and tasty! I would live on their yakisoba. The experience is amazing. My only negative is the 10% optional service charge,which isn't really optional when it's added to the bill immediately. I hate being that person asking to take it off (I didnt off this bill) however if I was on a stricter budget I would have had to, and some people would be embarrassed to. Our server was lovely, but I always prefer to leave my tip to the server in cash. This really is a minor thing (and a bugbear i know a lot of UK people have), and it certainly won't stop us from going back, infact I'm already counting down the days to payday so we can visit again. Exceptional value for money, delicious food and super friendly staff. Remember to wear your stretchy pants 🤣

We were excited to go try a Japanese restaurant so expectations were medium to high. Food was decent but not mind blowing I got to say. They had no sushi on buffet menu which was a disappointment. The place was empty at 4 o'clock Friday, and weirdly the atmosphere didn't felt welcoming but rather cold. Probably won't be returning.

I cannot praise Guyshi enough. The food, atmosphere and service were fantastic, and I look forward to telling everyone I know about this place at every opportunity I have

First time visiting and we weren’t disappointed. Had our own little booth which was a lovely experience. Very attentive staff and service was excellent. Food came out quickly and we also chose to grill our own food. Definitely go again

Beautiful easy 5 stars top service and food

The service was extremely poor. We were left standing at the door and having a member of staff walking past us and ignoring us. Others just continued with what they were already committed to and didn’t even bothered. We ordered a number of meat dishes from the barbecue menus. The meat lack seasoning and tasted quite bland. Over £3 for a small glass of soda is far too expensive. It wasn’t a great dining experience and I was quite unsettled and on edge because of the initial service. Great concept but really disappointingly poor service.

We’ve been wanting to eat here for ages, and finally got a chance. The restaurant is decorated incredibly, with amazing lighting and artwork. The staff are so friendly and welcoming straight away. We had a private room upstairs, and Dan our waiter talked us through the menu. We ordered some appetisers, sushi and noodles to share between 3 of us. Can hands down say the best sushi over ever had, it was so fresh and came out so cold too. The homemade garlic pear sauce is so tasty too! Also, the volcano sushi with cheese sauce is absolutely amazing, never thought cheese should go with sushi but it does! Dan and all the staff we spoke to were so nice and helpful, can’t wait to go back for Teppanyaki and the BBQ!

Dissapointing and way overpriced anniversary meal. We made it a fun experience, but the food was very average and bland (not seasoned) and your money will get you much nicer food elsewhere. Tbh you'd be better buying some meat from tesco and a bbq. Service was very slow (not our waitresses fault she was ran off her feet) and we didn't really like being closed off in our own room, just the 2 of us. It was also very noisy with the extractor fan and AC. We also didnt get given tongues until round 3 so were struggling to cook and had to stand up, we waited 20 mins for our charcoal to be replaced as it was no longer hot enough to cook on. Feel like we missed out on the robot and restaurant atmosphere.

Loved it! We came here for the all you can eat BBQ and sushi and it was wonderful! There are plenty of options to choose from and portions are huge! They brought out two full ribeye steaks! We were very impressed with the BBQ, but readily prepared meals were even better, so don't stuff yourself before trying them out! 😁 Definitely recommend the chicken karaage, it was the juiciest chicken I've had in my life! 😁 The staff was brilliant ! So attentive and friendly. They would take our plates away the second they were empty! The little robot was so cute! Great place and I'd love to visit again! 🍣

Delicious food complete with a few dishes for the more adventurous eater, I came hoping to try the Sea Urchin Sushi, they didn't have any in stock that day, but that just gives me all the more reason to visit again. Artic Clam and Eel Sushi were wonderful. Takoyaki, Soft Shell Crab Tempura, Octopus Tempura, all generous portions sizes and I was determined to clear each plate, so bring a friend!

Never go for the all you can it option, the 90mins are no chance to get you full. The food waiting time are so long. Half of our time in this 90mins are waiting waiting and waiting. The food is amazing, staff is friendly as well. DON’T GO FOR ALL YOU CAN EAT!!!

I came here for an anniversary meal and from entering to leaving, I’m not sure I’ve ever had a better experience being waited on. The host was fantastic and unbelievably polite (I didn’t catch his name). He accommodated for our moving of the meal to an earlier time with no issues and made us feel very welcome on arrival. Our server was Kiki who I genuinely cannot thank enough for a lovely experience. From making menu recommendations to suggestions on where to visit on a trip to Japan, Kiki is a consummate professional and did an unbelievably good job serving our table. The food was absolutely unreal (would recommend the Karage chicken), and even the waiters who weren’t serving our table were still unbelievably polite and lovely. Even after this service the price at the end is so reasonable and we’ll definitely be coming back again soon. 10/10 would recommend. Thank you Kiki!!!!

A lovely place with quality, beautifully served, tasty food. Great experience for foodies. Despite our child saying he doesn't want to eat, the smell and the atmosphere encouraged him to explore few sushis and steak. We tried all 3 ice- creams. Macha was my top favourite, but each of us had our favourites. We will definitely come again when visiting Sheffield. Yumm

Food was not authentic tbh so I wouldn't call it a Japanese restaurant maybe more inspired by Japanese cuisine? Food was very salty and fried. Lunch menu price is good but considering the menu is quite small a lot was not available on the day. Service was terrible with only one staff member and even though the place was empty they never approached the table.

It s a restaurant that serves various food for grilling/BBQ. The waiters and waitress were nice, and one of them demonstrated how to grill the food properly. The food wasn't cheap but the food was fresh and well prrsented. It is definitely one of a kind experience in Sheffield. It also has one of those cool looking robots!

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of grill BBQ in Guyshi. Friendly service always attend to our needs, amazing foods and drinks. A wonderful experience and would definitely come back. Shout out to Kler, Chi Chi, Mathew and Tai.

I went with my partner and we enjoyed our selves so much. The cocktails was lovely and yummy. The food was was so flavourful, presentation was beautiful. As someone that has worked many many years within the industry.. very well done. I can't forget to mention that the decore is totally my style and so cool. I felt that the staff was super helpful and attentive/polite. Side note I really loved that the toilets was super clean and they had a little mini side to put your phone while you go to the toilet. I can't wait to try all styles of dining here. I spent so much money here and I am not disappointed in doing so.

I was a bit underwhelmed trying this place sadly. I've been to a few similar to this and had a great experience, so my wife and I were keen to find one reasonably local to us. We got Sat in a booth in a small room, it wasn't particularly cosy or memorable and nobody told us or even asked if we needed to know how to use the BBQ in the middle of the table - which seems like a bit of a safety issue. Just lit it and off they went. Service was somewhat poor and nobody asked how our food was. Food itself was average at best - surprisingly bland. They had some people sat at the Teppenyaki bar - which was was defeaningly loud behind where we were sitting with staff going back and fourth through the door past us frequently. Shame they didn't seem to pay much attention to customers just eating a normal meal. For what we paid we certainly expected more and didn't feel valued as customers- it's not cheap - we wouldn't revisit. Shame.

Extremely average for the premium prices.. Essentially someone’s idea of what Japanese should be like unfortunately .. Positives- Friendly smiling staff and attentive , nice atmosphere and decor Negatives- The food.. Poor Japanese drinks menu, limited a la carte menu, expensive meat selection of cheap cuts for the grill Obvious which menu items are from Asian supermarket suppliers..

Had such a lovely time here. Staff were so kind and attentive! Although we spent a bomb on the assortment of items we got overall sharing this between 4 people would have been really well priced! Would definitely go again, well worth the value. Also you have to try the karaage

Guyshi was a gateway to traditional Korean cuisine on the doorstep of Sheffield. The aesthetic of the restaurant gives you the feeling of eating in an authentic Asian setting. The food selection is extensive and gives the option of barbecuing items at your table. Personally I’m not a fish lover but I pushed myself to try a number of things including the octopus tentacle, I was throughly surprised at how the charcoal bbq took the dish to another level of taste sensation! On the whole I would fully recommend that you try Guyshi.. if not just the food, service and setting then the extremely high level of bathroom, the sweet scents and pristine cleanliness of the bathrooms just added to an already fantastic visit! I would give Guyshi a well deserved 9/10.

The cooked food was really tasty but the grill was disappointing. No marinade on any meats or veg, just plain and we were given no instruction to how to cook anything. Idea is great but the execution poor. Staff was friendly but not attentive.

Delicious food, beautifully presented, and a unique dining experience that we're really looking forward to doing again. The portion sizes were generous for just two of us sharing, so we probably ordered a bit too much with 4 meat dishes, 3 vegetables, and 4 appetisers, but it was definitely worth it and we were nicely satisfied afterwards. The taro beef and octopus were our particular favourites for the grill, and I feel like you can never go wrong with takoyaki! The layout is such that you don't feel crowded by other diners, and I felt like the extractor fan in the table wasn't intrusively loud as we could still have a decent conversation. We loved the aesthetic of the place, and Yuki the robot waiter now has a special place in my heart. Though the human staff were also very attentive and helpful! The prices for food are reasonable, our spend per person was only £80 because we also had a few cocktails to celebrate my birthday! It's certainly achievable to spend less and still have a great experience. Can't wait to come back, maybe for Teppanyaki next time!

Absolutely amazing experience and atmosphere. Delicious food. Brilliant staff. My friend is Celiac and they talked her through exactly what she could have on the menu, which was most of it so very accommodating, they even let her bring in her own gluten free soya sauce. Very bad experience. Low quality chicken and beef. Unseasoned food. Very expensive for the price.

Only downside was the noisy extractor fan. Absolutely necessary, of course, so we don't choke on BBQ fumes; but two of our party were hard-of-hearing and couldn't hear any conversation over the noise. We should have chosen a quieter restaurant. Food here was prepared beautifully and super fresh. Staff couldn't have been more attentive. It was a fun experience cooking out own meats but some of the veg didn't cook, just dried out. I'd stick to the salad accompaniments next time.

Went to try the new Japanese restaurant. It is very aesthetically pleasing. You can tell it's. Ew and that the staff haven't been working there long because some of them were still getting to grips with service. The people were very nice but some were very quiet and inexperienced in waiting but nothing to complain about. The restaurant is smaller than I expected and the menu is a little confusing because they don't tell you that you have to write on the menu with the pen what you want. The food was very tasty but not shockingly filling. Watching the chef cook on the open grill is good

Positives: - members of the staff were friendly and polite - appetisers were delicious! - in general, the experience of “yakiniku” - grilling our own food was safe, fun and enjoyable! Things that I wish were better: - lack of information provided about how to correctly use the BBQ to achieve the best results - the size of the portions - too too small for the price charged! - the staff forgot to bring our drinks, our food was brought first, we had to remind them about the drinks - flavour of the meat, we had beef, chicken and pork, was a bit “one dimensional” but maybe this is what it is supposed to be like, I don’t know

We were given a private dining area upstairs . We were a party of 3 . Would have preferred to have been downstairs, better atmosphere. Delicious food, good service, a little pricey but still 5 star !

Friendly staff, great aesthetic and nice cocktails. However, due to them allowing walk-ins, our 30minute wait for a table almost reached 2 hours before we decided to just leave, this was after the 2 couples in front of us also left after waiting (6 paying customers in total). We will try again however. My advice to the restaurant would be as there is a booking system in place already for certain tables, i think you would benefit from bookings for all tables between certain times/on certain days as clearly you have an establishment that is pretty popular.

🔥🫕I love Japanese BBQ, its such a social fun way of having a meal with friends or family and so delicious too! Guyshi is new to Sheffield , and didn't disappoint! You can order exactly what you want and they build a beautiful platter / stand of foods to BBQ on your shared table grill. We chose a selection of meats and veg , all delicious when charred on the grill and dipped in the sauces and seasonings provided. You really can't go wrong with ordering. We also had some super tasty stir fried noodles to share. 🍣They also have beautiful sushi on the menu which I'm told was delicious. 🍹I tried a Malibu cocktail that was devine, and we were also treated to prosecco. We made smores for dessert and roasted the marshmallow on the coals how cute! 🤖You may even get served by their cute cat robot server machine ! Amazing. If you are looking for something fun, a bit different and social combined with amazing food this is the one ! Definitely one of my top recommendations in Sheffield.
