The Silk Route

Riversway, Preston
05/07/2020: At last!! Visited with hubby last night ( opening night )following lock down . Although we have had a takeaway every week from our favourite restaurant and travelling for it,it doesn't beat having the same delicious food served to you at your table by the friendly staff and no washing up! and in lovely fresh new surroundings. we felt relaxed but ultimately, safe. The team at Silk Route deserved to be commended for going above and beyond the call of duty during the unprecedented lock down.
05/07/2020: Lovely surroundings, attentive and friendly staff, timely service, and great menu options. The food we ordered (samosas, mixed meat starter, jalfrezi chicken curry, chicken shashlik, bombay aloo, garlic and coriander naan and peshwari naan) was cooked and flavoured beautifully, and reasonably priced. Would go so far as to say the peshwawi naan was the BEST I've ever had. Would highly recommend A visit to the silk route - we will certainly be returning :-)

Jumunjy Lizard Thai Cuisine

Mullion, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, >100£
25/06/2020: During the COVID lockdown we’ve had a couple of takeaways delivered. Last week we tried Jumunjy and it was superb so we tried it again tonight - anyone can get lucky once! I’m delighted to say that luck wasn’t involved, the food was, again, superb. My wife and I have both doesn’t time in Thailand (my wife worked there for several years) and we’ve both found that, here in the U.K. Thai food is often spiced down and sweetened up compared to the genuine article. Not so at Jumanjy where the flavours are very authentic. The food is not too spicy, so most people will be fine with it. The flavours are exceptional.Delivery was prompt and the prices reasonable - in fact the prices are excellent for the quality.Highly recommended, we’ll definitely be back.
16/06/2020: Having heard amazing reviews about this place we were excited to try it. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our meal. The delivery was 15 minutes late. The tempura prawns were , in fact, in breadcrumbs. The chicken wontons were simply deep fried folded triangles of wonton wrapper with no sign of any filling whatsoever. We had a beef with basil dish which was very unappetising to look at - over cooked green beans, beef, mushrooms and baby corn in a greyish thin sauce. It tasted ok but nothing special. We also had a chicken and cashew nut dish which was nice but no better than many Chinese meals we’ve had in the past. At £40 for the food ( including two portions of rice) we wish we’d saved our money .

Pyke 'N' Pommes

Strand, Derry
23/05/2020: Excellent food and service! Was always a fan of Pyke ‘N’ Pommes, specifically the squid tacos but yesterday there was a slight mistake with our order which was probably more our fault than theirs! They dealt with it very quickly and politely, we were very impressed!
05/03/2020: Stop here just by chance to grab a quick bite had their veggie burger meal was very tasty Staff are friendly and food is good what more can you ask for will be back for more ........

Lilu Cuisine

Castle, Leicester, 20-30£
22/04/2020: Simply amazing restaurant, visited here with 3 friends and they all said how nice the food was. First time here but will definatly be back. Thank you
10/03/2020: A real gem. We were looking for somewhere special for a ‘friends reunion’ and this delivered in every aspect. We had the tasting menu and it was delicious. Full of flavour and not too spicy (I’m sure they could adjust this for different tastes). The staff were all exceptionally friendly and explained all the courses. All agreed it was the best Indian meal we had ever had (and we are all very well travelled).

Billy Andy's

Glynn, Larne
07/03/2020: Such a shame as lovely food. Front of house manager without doubt the rudest most unwelcoming guy. The type of guy that treats customers as if they they get in the way and he is too busy. Shocking frankly.
29/02/2020: Thanks to Billy Andys for the brilliant lunch we had on Thursday 27th Feb.Starters, main course and sweet all excellent. Beautiful little hidden gem in a lovely rural setting. Give it a go if you are in the area. I know we will be back again.Thank youPaul and Isobel McGillBallymenaPs. Sorry photos aren't great.

Mu Mu

East, Maidstone, 20-30£
19/03/2020: I visited Fifi's Brasserie late on a Thursday afternoon with a craving for fish and chips. Much to my delight there is an option on the menu for a "Gin & Tonic" fish and chips. I can happily say the service was just as high of quality and caliber as the food itself, would definitely recommend to friends and family. 5 stars all round.
16/03/2020: Myself and a group of friends went to Bitchy Bingo and it was amazing. The waitresses were really friendly and attentive, Madam MuMu and Sophia Sparkles were brilliant hostesses and amazingly divaish! 2 hours of bottomless drinks, brunch, bingo, a drag show and mini disco for £40. Definitely recommend.

Coconut Bar & Kitchen

Abbey, Reading
11/03/2020: Great Food! Great cocktails. Great atmosphere and fantastic service by Ferin. Will definitely be coming back soon.
07/03/2020: Very nice food, kind and helpful staff, cosy environment. Very clean toilets (always gives me a hint on general level of cleanliness)

The Ambrette Canterbury

Westgate, Canterbury
22/06/2020: Had a great Afternoon Tea delivered for my birthday. Prompt delivery at 1pm. Food was delicious and unusual and made a lovely treat for my lockdown birthday. We decided to order another one, again to be delivered at 1pm. We were all set up to enjoy our food in the summer house. Alas, it did not arrive. We waited and waited and phoned and phoned (about 5 times) and eventually it arrived at 3.15pm with the appearance of something that has spent time in the back of a taxi. No explanation and no apology. Shame as it has influenced our decision about ordering again.
12/06/2020: I revived a voucher for Afternoon Tea from my wife at Chŕistmas.During Lockďown I decided to use it.Amazing quality. The Potaote and Onion Sandwich was unique and was one of the most enjoyable things I've ever had.I've had Afternoon Tea at the Ritz, Claridges and Grosvenor House Hotel and this was up their in that level of class and quality.

The Rising Sun Thai & Pan-Asian

Purewell and Stanpit, Christchurch, >100£
15/03/2020: Took the "magnificent seven" boys out for our monthly Probus Dining Club events, with this now being one of our regular visits, and , again, found the food fantastic, the service superb, the atmosphere amazing and the company chatty, laughing, drinking, joking and most of all, to be it exceeding enjoyable... feeling well fed, the horses well watered as we rode out from the Rising Sun !!!
02/03/2020: We have been going to The Rising Sun ever since it first opened and have never been disappointed. The service from start to finish was excellent and the food was superb. For value for money, ambiance and just sheer enjoyment it is our go to place. Poon was not cooking that night but you wouldn’t know it. All I can say is keep it up and to anybody that has not yet tried it, give yourself a treat.

Kota Kai

Porthleven and Helston South, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, 20-30£
07/03/2020: Lovely relaxed lunch with my niece and her family, we hadn’t seen each other in a while so wanted to do some catching up. The service was efficient and friendly and we didn’t feel at all rushed. Every dish we had was delicious. Can recommend the soft crab bao bun, Korean fried chicken and pulled pork sliders. Great harbour view.
07/03/2020: What a shame, the new menu was a disappointment. We have eaten here on lots of occasions and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. But this time was different- “small plates”, what is that all about? The waitress suggesting we needed 2-3 each - at £6-£8 each. We duly ordered and although we thought the food tasty the plates were small and so the whole experience was an expensive one. My husband and son (both over 6ft) have a good as you can imagine they left unsatisfied. I’ve noticed other people commenting on your new menu - please go back to your old ways and we’ll be back!

Duchess of Delhi

Butetown, Cardiff, 30-45£
15/03/2020: Visited the restaurant in February, a convenient short walk from the Bay Area and St David’s hotel where we were staying. The restaurant is tucked away but well located. We were seated upstairs which was fairly busy as it clashed with the international rugby. The menu is very limited in choice - some unique dishes which I have not seen elsewhere, but only perhaps a dozen or so choices - I thought it was the specials selection. Service was hit and miss, waited for drinks, got brought the wrong tables food, and had to ask multiple times for water which came as we paid the bill.Food itself was very nice, but not much of it considering the price. Five small pieces of lamb in a sauce was £13+ and while tasty, not value for money. Would I return? Probably not. If the prices were more reasonable then perhaps but £70 for 2 with no starters other than poppadoms and a drink each!
14/03/2020: Perfect evening! We have just had the best night, with the most wonderful food and exceptional, friendly service. Thank you Rosie and your beautiful daughters for providing the best Indian restaurant in Cardiff.

Saffron Balti

Lydney East, Forest of Dean, 60-100£
21/01/2020: I truly love Indian cuisine and have been to Indian restaurants and takeaways all over the UK. I particularly love vegetable pathias that are hot and sweet, but often find it difficult to obtain such a dish - but not here! The vegetable pathia I had here was perfect, both in the restaurant and has a takeaway dish. But so was my partner's dish (vegetable dhansak) and all the side dishes!I've been to Indian restaurants all over the UK, from London to Liverpool, over the past 30 years and none, not one, has impressed me as this little restaurant in Lydney! Not only is the food exquisite, but the customer service is outstanding! Often when I take my 8 year old daughter to restaurants she is seen as an inconvenience or worse, invisible, but not here! Rather, her particular requirements were listened to and adhered to, always with a friendly attidude and a desire to help. After over 30 years of visiting Indian restaurants and takeaways around the UK, I can unequivocally say this is the best I have been to!It's just a pity it's so far away!
15/01/2020: We came here while on holiday, it does not look much from the outside, so we were not expecting much.WOW what a surprise the food was FANTASTIC. We got takeaway several times and sat in a few times too, and we were never disappointed. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly and made us very welcome. The best indian restaurant we have every been to and we have been to a lot!

Red Peppercorn

Bulk, Lancaster
24/11/2019: We had a great family meal such a lovely place, we have since been back but it's now The Quarterhouse in Lancaster and it was superb. Chef led its advertised and this shows as the food was top notch! stunning inside too so relaxing
24/10/2019: What a shame. One of favourite Lancaster eating places has closed its doors. Good luck to the lovely family that ran it for years. You'll be missed! The place has been cleared out of fittings and furniture, barely a sign that there was ever a restaurant there.

Cowtown Grill

Priory, Trafford
10/06/2020: This place is just 5 minutes away to where I lived, drove passed it so many times and only decided to order today as it’s my son’s birthday. I have now realised what I have been missing in my life all this time. The 3 little pig burger is AMAZING so was the milkshake, parmesan fries and the boneless wings. Food arrived within 45 minutes and was still piping hot. They were so kind and even included a cake with Happy birthday written on it. Thank you Cowtown for our meal tonight, we shall be back very soon xxx
19/05/2020: I have heard so many amazing things about Cowtown and only started using their delivery service since the lockdown. I have been very impressed by the quality of the food and how delicious it is. Everything is so flavourful and you must try their milkshake, it’s that good! If it was for my teenagers we would be eating Cowtown everyday. I did experience long line up for pick up last Saturday so maybe next time I won’t order during their peak time.

Chorlton, Manchester
08/07/2018: Popped in here on a Sunday afternoon for a quick lunch, we had a Bento box each where you select a main meal and you get that along with a bento box which has Home made miso soup, a vegetarian sushi a salad/pickle and some fruit, excellent value at £8.95/£9.95 each will visit again.
28/06/2018: Great little place for some causal dining with friends. Great menu selection with a good variety of vegetarian options. Wouldn't say it's authentic but it tastes really good and the portions are generous. Good service too!
