Ginger Bistro

Shaftesbury, Belfast, 20-30£
13/06/2018: I thought it would be an actual sausage in puff pastry but it was thin sliced carrots, which were a bit bland. The sweet potato fries are too thick. The saving grace was the tapenade and dark & stormy. The drink was amazing!

Holohan's

Shaftesbury, Belfast, 20-30£
17/06/2018: Bit of a novelty, barge moored outside waterfront hall. Very welcoming and excellent service. Wise to book as several people turned away. Boxty is delicious. Fab wine list and local G&T; highly recommended. So pleased we chose here to celebrate a birthday & father's day....
16/06/2018: Moored on the Lagan at the Waterside this is a must do in Belfast as the food is delicious. Their boxty is unique and bursting with flavour. Good GF options and very friendly service.

Tartine Restaurant at The Distillers Arms

Bushmills, Moyle, 30-45£
13/06/2018: After toying with the idea of a starter, all four of us were relieved we hadn’t opted for one, as the main course was more than enough for each one of us. I had the Sunday roast beef dinner and it was a beautifully tender piece of brisket, with the usual trimmings. Will surely visit this place again.
12/06/2018: We went to this restaurant twice for dinner during our stay in Northern Ireland. The first time food was excellent, in particular the salmon and cod with basil mash and samphire, and the scallop and cod cheeks (although for our part we would have preferred the scallop roe not served). The second time a few days later food arrived lukewarm and service felt very rushed, with mains arriving within minutes of starter plates being cleared, and some elements were not right. Dauphinoise potatoes for example were not layered and creamy and semi set but were chunks of potato in a watery cream sauce. With the exception of one young waitress present on both occasions, and the owner who was front of house on our first visit, service is not very smiling or friendly, from first to last. The venue is nice. Inside there are broadly three seatings areas and we preferred the upper area just beyond the bar. There is also a good sized bar/waiting area for a pre dinner drink and perusal of the menu. There is limited parking to the rear which is useful. The restaurant does get full so definitely book ahead. Overall a good restaurant, deserving of its high ratings and reviews, but could be even better.

Shenanigans Irish Cafe

St Jude, Portsmouth
17/06/2018: Brilliant atmosphere and a great pint of hophouse, the staff were very friendly and it is in a great location in southsea, also had breakfast there and can highly recommend the fully loaded boxty. It’s in a great location and I look forward to my next visit
04/06/2018: This is a great pub, good, friendly atmosphere and great for watching sport. Only downside, it smells of fried food, meaning your clothes stink after a visit. I haven't eaten in these pub, but have been told it's very good.

The Cuan

Strangford, Down, <20£
17/06/2018: Nice place, as for the food, was lovely but not much on the big plate they serve it on and the price of it was over the top,£13.45 for basic roast beef dinner, I wouldn't have minded really but the portions on the plate didn't match the price, I left the place still feeling hungry. The portion of beef was fine but with no more than about a tablespoon full of potato and very little vegetable it was very disappointing, and further more not one member of staff serving the food came to ask was everything ok with our meal, not even after we finished eating dinner did anyone ask would we like a dessert, after sitting for a while I just went to the bar and paid the bill, needless to say I won't be back anytime soon if at all.
16/06/2018: Stopped in here as part of a Game of Thrones tour, after pre-ordering our food. Staff were very welcoming, dining area was very clean, tidy and well looked after. Peter (chef and owner) popped out for a quick word to say Hi. Food was good (I had the fish and chips) and also a bottle of their own "Hodor" beer. Note for Game of Thrones fans; this hotel/pub has one of the 10 GoT carved doors which were created from fallen trees from the Dark Hedges and is worth popping in to see all in itself.

Morton's Fish & Chip Shop

Dalriada, Moyle
13/06/2018: This is one of the best fish shops going. There's nothing better then ordering a bag of fish and chips that have been cooked to order. Then sitting on the quay watching the ferry crossing to Rathin Island while you eat your supper on a summers night.
12/06/2018: Found this fish and chip shop waiting for the ferry to Raithlin Island. It is a take away on a corner by the ferry car park, with a dedicated covered seating area on the corner opposite. It is very popular and does great fish and chips as well as scampi and other options. Recommended.

Kelly's Cellars

Falls, Belfast

O'Connor's Bar

Bonamargy and Rathlin, Allerdale
15/06/2018: Great pub a bit away from seafront. A bit above normal pub food. A bit of a fusion with spices going on. The cod and chips was excellent . Beer batter perfect huge piece of flaky white fish . The salmon with Thai noodles also cooked and spiced well . Service ok & friendly .
13/06/2018: Another great place to eat in Ballycastle Can really recomend the burgers but all the food is good value for money, staff are frendily and the beer is great.

Roark's Kitchen

Kinbane, Moyle
17/06/2018: Stopped here for a snack and ended up having a full meal. The food was excellent, the staff-particularly the young dark-haired man-were friendly and efficient and the little one could play on the beach while the adults ate Irish stew and rhubarb crumble in the sun - perfect.
14/06/2018: Love this little place, come every year on our annual trip up the north coast, so homely feeling, great place to visit :)

The Thatch

Belleek and Boa, Fermanagh
27/05/2018: Popped in on our tour of the area, last Saturday morning. Really busy but so friendly, apologised for the wait. It's quaintness, lovely staff and choice of light bites makes it so popular. Really enjoyed the visit
13/05/2018: Just as the Tourist season is about to launch, prices have been increased. It doesn’t seem that long since the last hike. This place is lovely and has a regular set of locals that keep the place afloat all year round. It seems short sighted that for a few months of Toirist-season gain, the Thatch may lose out on some of their all year round regulars who are being priced out.
