Carrick Cottage Cafe

Annalong, Newry and Mourne
17/10/2020: After 3 hours in the Mournes, was looking forward to some warm coffee and a bite to eat. This place is a gem, fantastic location, food and coffee in abundance. Everything was overseen by Rachael who has personality in abundance to make sure all was in order. Worth the visit. Photo is of nearby Devils Coach Road. Thank you.
16/10/2020: A relative who lives down the road recommended we visit,we ended up going twice! What a spot,we went on a good day and the view around the coast was stunning, the second visit was misty and gave the view an ethereal look.Food was great,we had breakfasts both visits and the soda bread was lovely,my Daughter assured me her hot chocolate was gorgeous on a number of occasions. We ate inside and were sat by a wood burner which was lovely and intimate. We also ate outside and again had a woodburner to keep us warm. There are fields nearby with a lovely friendly cow and we were lucky enough to watch a sheepdog at work,so for Townies like us was great. The staff do a great job with the CV19 situation as it is very small inside and were attentive, even checking the fire was stoked up enough for us.I would highly recommend it.

Angler's Rest

Darcy's Belfast Bistro

Shaftesbury, Belfast
27/12/2020: Had lunch while shopping in Belfast and cannot fault a thing. Food was delicious, great atmosphere and good service. Highly recommend.
19/12/2020: Where to start???? Great setting snug but not too squashed in, very nice atmosphere waiter was great very friendly and polite, good knowledge of the menu and recommended a vegetarian option for my partner, food was so so good and the muscles were just amazing both meals were very nice and service was great will definitely return on our next visit to belfast !

The Dinner Bell Bistro

Donaghadee North, Ards
27/12/2020: Aside from the million other reason I have to love this absolute gem in Donaghadee, the coffee, the blackboard, the garden, the amazing staff and owners. Their Christmas stuffing which I can see becoming a tradition in this house, is yet another reason added to the list! I was lucky to have some myself before my 1 year lay claim to the whole lot and it was amazing! The very fussy culprit rarely touches a Sunday roast never mind a Christmas dinner and the dinner bells stuffing is that good he inhaled almost the entire roll and went on a hunt for more
24/11/2020: Just had the most delicious Christmas dinner tonight from here I did order and collect No waiting food was lovely and hot got all the trimmings including my own we tub of cranberry sauce brilliant price really good portions definitely be ordering again and highly recommend best dinner I have had for a while

Ginger Bistro

Shaftesbury, Belfast, 20-30£

Shaftesbury, Belfast, 20-30£
23/12/2020: Had made a booking for New Years Day but when the latest lockdown was announced starting Boxing Day I immediately went onto the website and managed to get a booking. Had the 3 course Christmas menu, with seabass for my wife and my favourite seafood boxty as mains. All 3 courses were as good as always, with the usual friendly and efficient Barge service. Will be back when we can, meanwhile best wishes to all at Holohans.
20/12/2020: First time there and will be back. Start with the prawns, cooked beautifully with a seasoned batter and dressing in the salad was deliciuos. Pan fried seabass, delicious and the nicest potatoes ever. Chocolate tart just topped it all off.

Kelly's Cellars

Falls, Belfast

Diamonds Restaurant

Daisy hill, Newry and Mourne
06/01/2021: Although due to current circumstances we’re unable to sit in for a meal, however, you offer Carry out option which is completely fabulous and the food and service is always wonderful. It really is just as super as usual. I have always had a beautiful meal here, taking it back home is no different. The food is still top class. Will definitely be back again soon.Ryan McCartney.

Whelans of Asselby

Howden, East Riding of Yorkshire
22/11/2020: We'd been here before, and were in the area on Sunday Nov 22nd so stopped to see if they were doing takeaway food. Not very busy due to lockdown, but absolutely no problem with getting roast dinners for four people, plus drinks including one takeaway pint of real ale. We waited outside and they brought it out when ready. All very nice food at a reasonable price, and it's good to be able to support places like this. It's only a pity we couldn't sit out in the garden at the back due to lockdown - we'll have to come back sometime.
04/11/2020: Just spent a lovely evening with friends fabulous steaks and scrummy pudsx jake and kirsty are brilliant hosts and great staff x will definitely visit again after lock down x

Morton's Fish & Chip Shop

Dalriada, Moyle
08/04/2021: Have been going here for a few years now and had always really enjoyed the quality of the food,it was worth paying a little extra. But lately it has dipped, called on Easter Monday and got 2 fish and chips not impressed.
03/12/2020: This is one of the best chip shops in the country and the fish is absolutely amazing, fresh and perfectly well cooked. Friendly staff. I cant wait to go back after this lockdown. Theyre not closed or anything but we like sitting in the dining area in the summer. If you havent tried this place then you're missing out.

linen hill kitchen & Deli

Ballydown, Banbridge
28/12/2020: It’s been far too long since we were here last, and we got a taste of what we’ve been missing. We only recognised one staff member, so it’s all change, but he remembered us and he treated us extra special which was a class and decent touch. All the staff were charming. It’s a fall-out of Wu flu that brought us here on a Christmas Eve - we met a niece and her young children in a way deemed socially distant to exchange Christmas presents. The kids menus (£6.5) are excellent, a kids drink, main and dessert with the food made on the premises. One little one opted for fish & chips and got a proper piece of freshly battered fish (in huge contrast to the rubbish I was served locally at Craft). The other little one had chicken nuggets and again it’s clear these were also made on the premises, as they should be. All the adults opted for the all day brunch, which wasn’t my first choice, but I went with the flow. It’s essentially a breakfast fry up with chips added and a choice of tea/filter coffee £10. Everything was properly cooked and tasty. I wanted English mustard and to my horror they had none. I was offered - and declined - the oil based Dijon and its awful stuff. I had noted that they made their own sriracha hot so I opted for it and it was superb. In fact next time I go I’d choose it. The only other bummer was that the coffees were cold by the time the food was served. This place is a class act. I won’t deduct points for mostly my foibles but Colman’s English mustard is a necessity. Sure won’t wait as long to go back.
19/12/2020: Excellent socially distance restaurant with 5* food and service. Recommend highly and guarantee you won’t be disappointed. These guys know how to cook.

Porterhouse Pub

St James's, City of London,Westminster, 20-30£
04/12/2020: Had a pizza as you have to eat to drink. My entire table of 6 were appalled with the food we had to purchase. Pizza was microwaved and the cheese and onion toastie was sliced cheese that had not melted. Horrible food you’d expect7 year olds to make.
