The Olive Tree

Padstow, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, 20-30£
06/11/2018: A lovely cosy restaurant in St Merryn which is always a favourite. Excellent local produce, good service and nice ambience. Everything was very tasty, well presented and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Flo and her husband are very good at what they do, and we look forward to returning after they have had their well earned winter break. Enjoy!
01/11/2018: We found this place by chance while staying at Treyarnon Bay. Looking for somewhere to celebrate my birthday I looked at the menus for pubs nearby and, while they did perfectly good pub grub, they didn’t appeal to me. Fortunately, I remembered seeing this place as we had driven around St Merryn, and am I glad I had.

Scott & Babs

St Keverne and Meneage, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
27/11/2018: I've been a couple of times on a Saturday night when they have had live music. We have enjoyed the fresh pizzas which are loaded with wonderful, home produced toppings. The tables for the regular (ever changing) menu go very fast and I have not yet been lucky enough............ but I'll persevere, because I love everything about this place! The staff, the absolute weirdness of the surroundings, the home from home feeling............ the pizzas are wonderful and all freshly cooked. There's only one downside......... I don't live close enough to go more regularly!!!!
07/11/2018: Living in a holiday resort I have to frequently entertain friends and relations who come to visit. Scott and Babs is always the first port of call for an evening out and visitors often feel compelled to eat here more than once or twice whilst on holiday.

26/11/2018: We loved this place. Came here to see what all the fuss was about and we weren’t disappointed. You can’t book tables - just first come first served.
18/11/2018: Lovely service, nice atmosphere, great value for money. Second visit and having over ordered last time we just chose the cheese platter with house red - were offered extra bread and crackers without asking and instantly brought water to the table. A staple of our visits to Edinburgh. Cheeses were excellent. Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Brilliant.

W. T. Roberts Bakery

Beaumaris, Isle of Anglesey
27/11/2018: Hidden a few streets back from the sea front, this bakery supplies bread to all the best places in town. Get there early to stock up on sandwiches, pasties, pies etc. Ideal for a seaside picnic.
23/11/2018: If you like fresh bread and wholesome baked goods then this is the place for you. Opens at 08.00 and when I’m in Beaumaris I’m usually first in the door. The staff and goods are fab but don’t expect any chat unless you’re local because they are too busy. We always come here on our many visits

Susie's Tea Rooms

Appledore, Torridge, <20£
11/12/2018: Our art group go for lunch every Tuesday after we have had our morning meeting. We decided to go for our annual Christmas lunch there instead of a restaurant or hotel as we didn’t want the usual Christmas meal . We had a great time with half of us having a afternoon tea and the rest having pigs in blankets hot dogs and hassleback potatoes and other scrummy things . They don’t have a license so we could take our own drinks and they even found us some glass flutes for our fizz. It was so much nicer to be with staff we know and like than in a hotel which you never go to and don’t know anyone.
10/12/2018: Lovely little cafe, visited for a Friends birthday. Ten of us and the service was wonderful, but such a pity we could not be supplied with a piece each of their delicious cakes.

The Brasserie

Poulton, Lancaster, <20£
27/11/2018: We went as a large party of people, the service was good and friendly. Everybody enjoyed their food with no complaints at all, I had two starters and then had kleftiko for my main course. The food was excellent.
14/11/2018: Eighteen in the party, and although the restaurant had other diners as well, we did not have to wait very long for our meals. I have never had Greek food before, but will certainly be going again. Food was hot and delicious, and the staff were very attentive

Fat Apples Cafe

St Keverne and Meneage, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, <20£
12/11/2018: I've been here a couple of times and it's definitely worth the visit for anyone who hasn't yet tried. The staff are very friendly and their homemade food is lovely. We tried the full english breakfast followed by one of their chocolate brownies and some coffee - which didn't disappoint! If you're out this way and fancy a lovely quiet place for some food or for coffee and cake then I highly recommend!
06/11/2018: The Lizard Peninsula in south west cornwall is such an amazing place. It's like traveling to the end of the world. And its unique vegetation, wildlife and geologic characteristics make it even more special.

The Ancient Mariner Bistro

Looe East, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, 20-30£
29/10/2018: Such a warm greeting by Melanie and Mark. We instantly felt welcome and the atmosphere seemed the same for everyone
07/10/2018: My husband and I went here last night and the food is superb. They catered for all my dietary needs as I am gluten, dairy and also intolerant to other foods like onion. The scallops were fresh from the sea that day, the steak just melted in your mouth and cooked to our specification. My husband had the creme brûlée for pudding and would recommend it. The wine completed the food perfectly. Mel and Hayley who are front of house we very attentive without being over powering and very friendly. We throughly enjoyed eating here and will definitely come back again. We wished we had come both nights when we stayed in Looe. Thank you.
