Food by Breda Murphy

Whalley, Ribble Valley, 20-30£
27/11/2019: I love afternoon tea and this place didn't disappoint. Friendly greeting when we arrived. Food was delicious. Glass of prosecco. Tea for me. Earl Grey naturally. Coffee for Denis. The sandwiches were lovely. Chunky sliced bread with thick slices of home cooked ham and beef. Cheese and egg. As I'm not keen on egg I asked for some extra beef samdwiches. No problem. It was a present for us and such a delight.
27/11/2019: Excellent food in a lovely location

The Old Bank

Snettisham, King's Lynn and West Norfolk, >100£
08/11/2019: This was our second visit and didn’t disappoint in any way. The scallop dish was so full of flavours and my halibut was delicious. I can’t praise this little restaurant enough for the Chef’s wonderful food, the front of house stars and behind the scenes workers too! Thank you very much.
01/11/2019: A superb little restaurant with first class cuisine and friendly staff. I had the duck which was cooked to perfection.

The Olive Tree

Padstow, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, 20-30£
05/12/2019: We are visiting Padstow for the Christmas Festival, and following brilliant reviews we booked a table at The Olive Tree this evening.
23/11/2019: We had a lovely meal with excellent and friendly service. I had sardines followed by cod, both from the specials menu. The fish was cooked perfectly on each case and both courses were wonderful. My boyfriend enjoyed mushroom bruschetta followed by pork belly. He finished the evening with a treacle tart that he raved about, and I enjoyed a selection of cheeses whilst I finished a glass of excellent Malbec. A wonderful evening to celebrate my upcoming birthday, and when our host heard we were celebrating we were sent home with a little bottle of fizz to have after work on my actual birthday. A really nice touch from a restaurant that serves great food and has a very warm atmosphere - many of the other customers were clearly familiar regulars and I can absolutely see why!

Crave Ice Cream

Ventnor East, Isle of Wight, <20£
06/11/2019: I went here with my two grandsons as I had heard good things about it. It didn't disappoint, very friendly with a huge range of flavours to choose from. Will definitely recommend to everyone.
02/11/2019: Lovely little shop selling a wide variety of ice creams. We had the mango sorbet, mint chocolate and kinda surprise ice cream £2.50 a scoop but it was so creamy and tastful. The owners where so helpful and friendly they let us taste all the flavours. Brought a tub of honeycombe for £1.00 to add to my ice cream at home. Well worth a visit.

Fat Apples Cafe

St Keverne and Meneage, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, <20£
01/11/2019: Fat Apples is awesome and I can't believe we haven't visited before, as we stay at Tregarne, between St Keverne and Porthallow every autumn break. With the pub in Porthallow currently currently closed, we planned our lunch stop at Porthallow. Fat Apples has a lot to live up to - we had several recommendations. It ticks all the boxes, beautiful outside on a warm autumn day, fantastic friendly and efficient service, alcohol licence if you want it, wonderful salads, they taste as good as they look. The homemade cakes and crumbles are devine. There is a gift shop to mooch around while waiting for your food to arrive. Check the autumn / winter opening times on website. I really recommend walking to the cafe if you can. There were quite a lot of cars squeezed in at peak lunch time and it's only a short walk up the hill from the beach in Porthallow.
28/10/2019: Visited whilst having a short break on the Lizard.

The Brasserie

Poulton, Lancaster, <20£
07/12/2019: We arrived at 6 o’clock for our booking and we were seated by the owner who was amazing. Friendly, funny, welcoming and an superb host. A jug of water was brought to the table straight away. It may be so little to do this but it still it just made it so much nicer than to ask for this. We then ordered drinks which came straight away. We ordered a main order sharing platter for 3 between 4 of us. This came in stages and each time the host brought the food and he explained what everything was and made us chuckle. After the sharing platter we then had a dessert. The food all together was hands down amazing. Every dish was flavoursome. Each brought a different aspect and was handmade no doubt. Authentic Greek. I can honestly say this place has it down to a tee. If you are thinking of going anywhere make it here. It is a small business so you would be supporting this instead of a chain. Your dining experience in terms of quality of service and food will not be beaten if you choose here.
06/12/2019: We were visiting from out of town and found this restaurant on TripAdvisor. Fabulous food and really friendly staff. Highly recommended this restaurant.

Wild Thyme Restaurant and Rooms

Chipping Norton, West Oxfordshire
02/12/2019: My wife and I ate here recently for the first time and were very impressed all round. There was sufficient choice on the menu to make it a difficult decision as to what to choose but neither of us were disappointed with our choices. We each had three courses and each one was delightful. The service was excellent and the atmosphere relaxed. We liked the fact that the setting was intimate but not formal.
20/11/2019: This vegetarian restaurant serves the most amazing food. The variety is great and the quality, presentation and flavours are absolutely to die for. I had sweet potato dauphinois served with spinach, goats cheese and red onions. It was worthy of a place in any 5* restaurant. The staff are friendly, service good and the ambiance warm.

Harry's Bistro

Beaumaris, Isle of Anglesey
06/12/2019: This must be one of the best places to eat in Beaumaris. Service is exemplary, gluten free readily available and even offering to cook dishes separately to ensure gluten free. Food first rate. I can not recommend this place highly enough.
03/12/2019: Delightful setting, delicious food and lovely staff. We had tempura prawns and cod with rosti and tummy accompaniments and Herself had the set menu, fish and prawn chowder and Nia" wobbly bread and butter pud all was fab. Can't wait to go again

Rose and Grants (Tronsgate)

Calton, Glasgow City
01/12/2019: I'm in off and in because it's a nice wee dog friendly cafe and does great French toast! Only disappointment was with the extortionate festive hot chocolates- will give them a miss next time. The white hot choc has a load of weird red jelly at the bottom and is £4.50 - still not sure what it was.
30/11/2019: Really nice place for a casual cuppa and bite to eat. The vegan scotch pie is great.

Steam Bistro

Coniston and Crake Valley, South Lakeland
03/12/2019: Bring your own booze and be prepared for wonderful food expertly served by knowledgeable staff. A real delight to eat here both times I've been.
03/12/2019: What impressed me the most about this restaurant was the owner's insistence that he wasn't going to raise his prices to levels you'd normally associate with food of this quality, in order not to price the locals out. What a great attitude. At £25 for two courses and £30 for three it represents very good value.

Creme Pen Cei

New Quay, Ceredigion, <20£
19/11/2019: I was so looking forward to ice cream and we have been leaving in Pontgarreg for over 3 month when I finally manage to get one the last week before they shut for the season. Well the staff must have the patience of a saint with so many choice the crow of four us could not make up our minds. Lucky it was getting late so there were no other customers. Finally when we did chose it was a fantastic ice cream come on next season.
31/10/2019: Delicious gelato, wide choice of flavours to choose from although pricey, a nice holiday treat. The shop is open in season only, closes closes around first week in November.

The Corner House Cafe

Grassington, Craven
05/12/2019: Whilst staying in Grassington for the Dickensian festival we visited this cafe for breakfast and were very glad we did. Friendly and professional with plenty of choice for gluten free. We all ordered something different from the menu and were all delighted with our choices and also took some cake (gluten and dairy free choices too) for later. We enjoyed it so much we returned the next day and the staff remembered our dietary requirements. The dog was also made very welcome.
02/12/2019: Called in once again today, simply the best butties I've had on a cafe stop. The bread is fantastic. Value for money!
