The Ancient Mariner Bistro

Looe East, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, 20-30£
17/09/2019: This is the first fish restaurant we know to order the fish you want for dinner direct from the fisherman setting out early morning for the days' catch. Our fish had names, Larry the lobster and Solly the lemon sole. With starters of Fowey mussels and hand dived scallops accompanied by Cornish white wine, the meals (2 consecutive nights) are TDF. Melanie and Mark have an exceptional restaurant - if you like the best fish, this sets the standard.
16/09/2019: Had a wonderful evening here, small, family run restaurant serving local produce, cooked to perfection. Mel is a lovely host as well - highly recommended.

Food by Breda Murphy

Whalley, Ribble Valley, 20-30£
11/09/2019: Food, ambience, staff, all excellent, plus exceptional live guitar music.
09/09/2019: Clean and fresh describes both the first impression of this restaurant and the presentation of the food. We got a warm welcome on Sunday lunchtime. The car park was full but there is more parking just through the adjacent railway bridge at the tennis club (pay and display but just £2 per day). There is good spread of choice on the menu so everyone should be able to find something they like. Personally I was spoilt for choice but went for the roast beef, gorgeous. The wine list, like the menu is not extensive but has a well thought through selection. I was driving so had to resist the gin distilled locally in Burnley. Service was very efficient and friendly, everyone seemed concerned to put the customers enjoyment first. All in all a great experience.

Primrose Tea Rooms

Bovey, Teignbridge, 45-60£
14/09/2019: Absolutely love this tearoom , visited a few times now with my family & we all love it. Two of us are gluten free and this place is amazing for us. It’s so hard to find nice gluten free food & it did not disappoint. Highly recommended, amazing food & lovely welcoming staff
06/09/2019: I can't really add anything to all the previous reviews. It was my first visit since this tearoom re-opened. Unbelievably mouthwatering range of cakes; friendly and welcoming staff, and attractive decor. Just what was needed after a lovely walk in Lustleigh Cleave 😊

The Olive Tree

Padstow, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, 20-30£
18/09/2019: Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at this restaurant. The food was delicious and the personal service first class.
14/09/2019: Really enjoyed our meal here at the Olive Tree on our visit to St.Merryn.

The Masons Arms Inn

4 offers
South Molton, North Devon
09/10/2017: Found due to brown road sign on main road. Nice country lane to get too it, in a quaint village setting. We arrived 15 minutes before end of advertised lunch period, but still got served full meal. Very friendly staff & beautiful food. Personally surprised no bar food menu. Well worth stopping for.
23/08/2016: I dropped into this pub one evening whilst camping in the area for a quiet drink, bought a pint and sat down at a table with my dog.Within minutes one of a group of locals who had been staring at "this stranger in their bar" came over, put his pint down and picked up mine.I took it back but it was clear they were trying to cause trouble and the women behind the bar said nothing. My advice would be to avoid the whole area, the unpleasant locals seem to have a chip on their shoulders...too much time with the sheep on the moor I guess!

The Old Bank

Snettisham, King's Lynn and West Norfolk, >100£
18/09/2019: Great, Relaxed, Professional service, amazing food, we all had taste menu, which was exquisite, Tonka Bean Cambridgeshire Cream my personal favourite, Make sure you reserve a table as it is busy, we will be back, next time Sunday Lunch
16/09/2019: We first visited The Old Bank last year. We have returned time, and time again. If only we lived closer our visits would have been more frequent. The food is superb, the service delightful. How they manage to produce such a wonderful menu for the cost beggars belief.

Rye, Rother, 30-45£
01/09/2019: Incredible hot chocolate, and I’m very picky. So many varieties here to choose from. The man who worked there was SO knowledgable, helpful and friendly, great customer service! Really unique cafe. Will be back!!! Can’t wait to try another.
18/08/2019: Always stop here on the way home after visiting rye and it is the perfect treat to end a long day. With hot chocolate for the cold weather and milkshakes for the hotter weather you cannot go wrong. Highly recommend. Thanks for changing my life

Graze on the Green

Dales, Ryedale
15/09/2019: This cafe in a lovely part of North Yorkshire offers the best of both worlds; it's suitably quaint and traditional in this pretty village, but isn't too old fashioned when it comes to food and drink. It's all too rare that you can get a decent coffee but they use Roost espresso and make it with care. The food is good value for decent portions, but it's much more than that too - quality homemade soup, tasty sandwiches, and a bit of thought has gone into the side salads. On top of all that, the service is fantastic - friendly and efficient - and there's a really nice atmosphere. Highly recommended.
15/09/2019: Wow wee it was simply perfect from start to finish. From ordering to leaving you couldn’t pick a single fault with the whole experience. Staff were polite, welcoming and real ambassadors to the cafe. We ordered 2 Lattes and 2 cakes and wow wee, we where in heaven! The cakes were tasty and you could capture every flavour. Fantastic presentation and presented with love and care! The Lattes were heaven too and tasty and not bitter or too strong! So would we go again? Most definitely and counting the days until Oct Half-term! Price wise, wow wee, it won’t make a dint in your wallet and such great value!

Scott & Babs

St Keverne and Meneage, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
13/09/2019: We found Scott and babs while searching on line and we could not have been happier with our decision to eat there
08/09/2019: I’d really prefer not to write a review and try to keep this fabulous restaurant quiet. But I think that ship has sailed. Almost impossible to get a table and when you do get one you’ll understand why. Quirky building great atmosphere and awesome food.

Fat Apples Cafe

St Keverne and Meneage, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly, <20£
06/09/2019: Visited here with friends and sat in the garden. Friendly and helpful service and most importantly, great food! Homemade cheeseburger was very tasty and came with an assortment of salad items, all beautifully presented. Crab sandwiches were also fresh and tasty. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
24/08/2019: No trip to Porthallow is complete without a visit here. We had very good coffee and delicious pastries but could just have easily ordered a variety of very appealing lunch options.

Wayfarer Bistro

Fylingdales, Scarborough
10/09/2019: 3rd visit and the food never fails to impress. The staff are attentive and friendly and the menu very varied with a wide variety of specials available.
08/09/2019: We stayed overnight, they also do a B & B, great standard of room, clean, comfortable and well appointed,

Crave Ice Cream

Ventnor East, Isle of Wight, <20£
05/09/2019: Been several times in my stay, the variety of flavours and quality of ice cream is amazing! They welcome you to try lots of different flavours and and a generous portion for the price!
03/09/2019: A wonderful ice cream experience - flavours changed daily, a great range including vegan and vegetarian friendly, lactose intolerant offerings and some that are gluten free. Lovely owners who have always been happy to help and discuss the range of products they make . . . . well worth a visit !!!!!

The Brasserie

Poulton, Lancaster, <20£
13/09/2019: What a fabulous little gem the service is fantastic the food is absolutely amazing can't wait to come back
08/09/2019: We travelled from Bury with sole purpose of visiting The Brasserie and I am so glad that we did. The food was out of this world and totally authentic. Would highly recommend as this makes the perfect transition from a meal to a wonderful memory. Thank you for having us Lazarus

The Ingham Swan

Waxham, North Norfolk, 45-60£
17/09/2019: We came here for holiday and tried to find a fine restaurant for everyone. It was really great that we chose here. The meals we’ve ordered were so delicious. And their service was really lovely and considerate, almost as good as Michelin restaurants. I strongly recommend this restaurant to everyone, although the price was not very sweet but it was worthy to try.
10/09/2019: Arrived sunday mid afternoon, very busy with sunday lunches but we were greeted promptly at the bar/reception and shown to our room. The inn has recently undergone a rebuild and refurbishment after a fire and re-opened about 6 months ago.It would seem that no expense has been spared and the end result, both in the inn and the barn containing the accommodation,is of a very high standard. Our evening meal was exceptional. We had the taster menu which proved to be delightful.Breakfast was,as expected, very good. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The location is a quiet country setting, close to the coast and Norwich, with good car parking.

Steam Bistro

Coniston and Crake Valley, South Lakeland
15/09/2019: What can I say, when you have a great meal at a restaurant and then return at a later date it never seems to live up to your expectations, that's until we returned to your restaurant?
14/09/2019: Book before you get to the lakes as availability was weeks away in August...unless you sneak in at opening time like I did. Lovely food and choice and byo bottle saves a bundle! The trifle was monumental!
