The Old Bank

Snettisham, King's Lynn and West Norfolk, >100£
16/06/2019: Our first time at the Old Bank and it certainly won’t be our last! We took my Father for his birthday and it was certainly the right choice. From the time we entered until the minute we left we had great service from friendly staff and exceptional food and drink! One of the courses we had was Loin and belly of Norfolk Lamb, black olive mash, courgettes etc (see photo) melted in your mouth! The only downside that my wife and I live far away from this gem.
11/06/2019: I was surprised at how tiny the restaurant was! just a couple of tables and the loos round the outside of the building, but it made for a lovely intimate setting for a Friday night treat.

Bartellas

Waterhouse Farm, Chelmsford, 20-30£
17/06/2019: My husband and I came here last Saturday, 15th June, I had just had an operation and my arm was in a sling. The staff were so helpful and kind, even offering to cut up my food for me! Nothing was too much trouble, even though the restaurant was busy.
17/06/2019: Decided at short notice to have a meal here after wife came out of hospital, although it was a busy Saturday night Lauren and Terry managed to fit us in. I had the home made tomato soup as a starter and it was really very good followed by the beer battered cod and chips the fish was gorgeous and so where the chips unfortunately had no room for a desert. Service was as always top notch nothing is too much trouble and both Terry and Lauren could not have been more helpful with Terry even offering to cut up my wife’s food for her as her hand was in a plaster cast that’s what you call real service. Well done to all the staff we will continue to return again and again.

Old Boat House Cafe

Hunstanton, King's Lynn and West Norfolk
16/06/2019: As a regular visitor to the Beach café, I can only say that I look forward to my visit every week. They have a good, varied menu, friendly staff, and I always feel welcome. The cafe can get VERY busy on sunny days, so you may have to wait for food, but there is plenty of seating both inside and out. Please be aware that Old Hunstanton is a dog friendly beach, and the café is very dog friendly, so expect to see plenty of our four-legged friends both on the beach and in the café.
16/06/2019: Lovely staff, nice cake, dog friendly! Right by the lifeboat station who were performing practice launched for our entertainment.

09/06/2019: After walking from Blakeney the Artemis Cafe offered a welcome haven. Wonderful professional and friendly service. Good menu choice -the Veggie sausage rolls are awesome !!! . Coffee very good- nice attention to detail - appreciated the jug of hot water with my Americano. Great for families , couples and folks with Dogs - such as us.
04/06/2019: Came across Artemis Coffee Shop after walking on the North Norfolk coastal path. We were tired, cold, wet, and in need of a good cup of tea.

The Red Lion

Berners, Babergh
13/06/2019: Our first visit even though we have lived on the peninsular for around three years. Lovely ambiance and friendly welcome. Thursday lunchtime, so not overly busy. Lovely touches like proper serviettes and jugs of water already on the table. Not that much choice of real ale. Food was superb. I had the calves liver and my wife the cod and prawn linguine. Not open Sundays & Mondays. We will be back
05/06/2019: I just love this restaurant - the standard of food is always the same .... perfectly delicious every time!! As usual, we were welcomed even though we hadn’t booked and enjoyed wonderful service and friendliness from the team. We had nibbles of olives and freshly made garlic bread with a crisp cool glass of Sauvignon blanc, followed by sea bass on a bed of leek and saffron risotto (me) whilst my friend couldn’t resist having the calves liver and bacon again because it is so tasty every single time! We couldn’t manage desserts, much as we were sorely tempted, (especially by the sticky toffee pud!), so we finished off with freshly brewed coffee which rounded off the meal perfectly. What a great place to meet up for a girly catch up teamed with the best meal you can have around here! Thank you to Mandy, Dougie and team!

Marmalade's Bistro

Sheringham North, North Norfolk
18/06/2019: We recently stayed in Sheringham, Norfolk and booked an evening meal here for a 'special meal' evening. Well it didn't dissapoint as the meal was fantastic. All three courses were exceptional by the chef. Tables were served by three girls who were excellent, being jolly and professional. We had a lovely evening. I have only one thing to mention and it's not a critisiam, just a comment and that is of the decor which in our opinion could do with a refurb, it's just a tad tired and old hat. We would love to eat here again when in Sheringham. Thanks for a lovely evening.
16/06/2019: Visited here on a Thursday evening and glad had booked in advance as people without reservations were turned away. As a small restaurant booking would normally be advisable but in view of the service and quality of food I would say booking essential.

The Plough at Bolnhurst

Wyboston, Bedford
15/06/2019: Went with my family on recommendation of my sister. Very comprehensive menu with a lot of choice. We had a combination of dishes and everything was very well presented and cooked. I had the Cornish sweetbreads and they were sublime! The steaks looked great and the fish on our table was cooked perfectly.
12/06/2019: We stumbled upon the Plough by chance while on a drive looking for a country pub, and what a great surprise! Delicious, fine dining food at reasonable prices for the excellent level of quality and service. Lovely setting and atmosphere too. We will definitely be back to try the steak and enjoy a drink in the beautiful garden.

The Folly Tearoom

Holt, North Norfolk
08/06/2019: Well worth a visit for the doorstep sandwiches. BUT the breakfast menu stops at 12 ( not mentioned on their website) and almost certainly need to book especially if it is a damp day. Good bread ( granary or white), crispy bacon and a perfect tried egg.
06/06/2019: Shop Assistant in Bakers & Larners in Holt recommended this lovely little tea room to us as we wanted lunchtime sandwich. We had hoped to have a fresh Cromer crab sandwich but were told by the lovely waitress that they may have some in a couple of weeks time!! Sadly we were only there for four days so couldn`t wait. However sandwiches came along with lovely crunchy salad and crisps, most enjoyable and great service. Lovely ambiance. We are often in Norfolk and will certainly visit The Folly again.

The Picnic Hut

Priory, North Norfolk, <20£
06/06/2019: This small but friendly cafe is truly a great find. Staff very friendly and accommodating, the best though has to be their very best Crab salad sandwich. It was an absolute delight, the best crab sandwich I have had in a very very long time. Would certainly recommend if your passing... loved it! Thank you.
18/05/2019: So glad to find a cafe open late in the afternoon. Lovely tea and cake in a very friendly atmosphere. The salads looked very tempting - will return.

The Old Siege House Bar and Brasserie

Castle, Colchester, 30-45£
17/06/2019: Food very average, definitely not cooked to order probably sitting under a heat lamp for a while.
08/06/2019: Dined here a few times last year, always had a variance on food quality unfortunately..came to try the new menu this week. Food was fresh and amazing, loved the new pork and stilton Wellington and the blondie desert!! The lady who served us was really lovely but she was serving the whole restaurant and at one point it got very busy. Only downside was the cocktails, waited nearly 15 minutes for them to arrive and they were really sour and the other just tasted like syrup, didn't want to complain as it was busy, just bought a bottle of wine that was lovely. Overall we really loved the food!

The Wildebeest

Stoke Holy Cross, South Norfolk, 30-45£
15/06/2019: Went here for my mums birthday meal for seven people, the food was really nice had steak and it was cooked good and nothing wrong with it but the only thing I didn’t like was how much sides you get which I would of thought it could of been a bit better but wasn’t complaining, still had a nice evening.
09/06/2019: Delightful restaurant with comfortable surroundings. Superb food served by charming staff. Wine was as usual overpriced.

No.33 Cafe Bar

Mancroft, Norwich, <20£
09/06/2019: Came here for breakfast on bank holiday Monday and the place is fantastic. There is a massive menu with plenty of choice which caters for all different types of food needs. I had the veggie breakfast which was amazing and my partner had the mushroom and goats cheese ciabatta. Both dishes were massive and we both couldn’t finish our food which is very rare. I would highly recommend this cafe.
07/06/2019: Great food and coffee. We went for coffee one day and went back again for food and coffee. They specialize in making big fantastic cakes and although we didn't have any it seems to be a favorite of many due to their large assortment. It's VERY busy (like all the time) and sometimes there is a bit of a wait (20-30 min) but most people seem happy to wait it out. Definately worth a stop!

Market Bistro

St Margarets with St Nicholas, King's Lynn and West Norfolk, <20£
08/06/2019: This was our 4th visit to this shrine of fine dinining, (Previous reviews can be found on here) and, as on our first visit, the food we consumed was cooked to perfection by Head Cheif & Patron Richard, the menu was rn british, to which Richard adds his own personal "Magic" - the end result being simply fantastic, our starters were Scallops (rainbow chard, pancetta for my good lady and the Tomato (tart fine, sherry vinegar, ricotta) both dishes simply superb, our mains were Lamb (bbq shoulder, potato puree, asparagus, tomato) for my better half, while I chose the Venison (loin, beetroot, mushroom, braised gem) and I have to say the Venison was cooked exquisitely, with the Beetroot in particular adding that "earthly" deepness to the dish, unfortunately, neither of us had room to sample deserts, although we were very tempted! Why makes the Market Bistro so special? irst and front has to be the fayre, every item is sympathetically prepared and cooked, just as it should be, the service is always unobtrussive & polite, and the ambience creared by Lucy & Richard is totally unique, to feel at home the moment you set foot in the restaraunt is no mean feat to acheive - but that's exactly what it feels like.
01/06/2019: As always the food and service were amazing! Not huge portions, you’re buying the quality and taste of the food, service as always was spot on - attentive but not harassing. Sorry, but can’t fault this restaurant.

Welwyn East, Welwyn Hatfield
01/06/2019: Had no idea this place was here! What better way to spend an hour sat in the sun with a coffee and huge slice of delicious sponge...cherry and almond, blueberry and lemon & raspberry and white chocolate all went down well.
25/05/2019: We went there on Thursday afternoon to have a look. We had tea and cake. Lovely little tearoom. Very friendly and pretty room. Cakes delicious and all homemade. We will definitely go back maybe for an afternoon as they looked really good. Thanks Sarah and other lady.
