Wayfarer Bistro

Fylingdales, Scarborough
17/12/2018: Booked for the first night of our RHB stay. Right next to our B and B in the White Owl
16/12/2018: We ate here on Friday, I booked the previous Tuesday so I was pleased to be able to get a table at fairly short notice. The restaurant was busy when we got there but the waitresses were prompt and friendly. We ordered starters and they were beautiful, I had the scallops on black pudding which were perfectly cooked and were very nicely presented. The others had the tempura prawns which came with a lovely lemon mayonnaise and a chilli dip, all delicious. I had the monkfish in sweet chilli and coconut milk as a main which was good but lacked a bit of seasoning. Others in the party had the salmon wrapped in parma ham which was perfect & the lamb shank which was rich, tender and tasty. The house merlot was excellent and they had a good selection of gins to choose from. We finished with puddings of which the Christmas pudding won hands down, the triple chocolate brownie was soft and chewy but it beat me as my eyes are clearly bigger than my belly! We had a choir come in at the end of the night to sing carols which was a lovely addition to the evening! It was a great night, the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere & the staff were attentive. We will definitely be going again.

The Cocoa Tree

Helmsley, Ryedale
03/12/2018: We’ve been here a few times when in Helmsley as it’s such a lovely cosy cafe. We’ve had lunch previously when friends came to visit and huge BLT’s that time. Today stopped off for coffee and cake and unusually it was a quieter spell between lunch and afternoon trade. Fab cakes, well made coffee and very friendly owners you can have a chat with. Spoilt our dog rotten with treats so we will be dragged in there whenever we pass again if she has her way. Not that we mind, it’s great value for money too.
02/12/2018: Warm and welcoming staff. Very friendly and polite. Good atmosphere. Had cream tea for two. Scones were warm and beautifully light. Delicious. Loads of clotted cream and jam. Loads of tea. Excellent price. Loved it

Guildhall, York, 20-30£
17/12/2018: 2 Zywiecs, meatballs, bigos, cheesecake, apple tart. Wham bang thank you ma’am! Love this little place. You must book though, it’s not too rated for no reason. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. I could almost have been in Krakow.
16/12/2018: One of the best little restaurants around. I visited with my family for breakfast on 16 December and was blown away by this lovely, quirky Polish small restaurant.

The Corner House Cafe

Grassington, Craven
04/01/2019: Great pot of tea, we had been recommended to this café and it did not disappoint! Wonderful selection of cakes, friendly service and also dog friendly. Really enjoyed!
04/01/2019: Enjoyed the breakfast here everything cooked to perfection. We had one vegetarian breakfast and one vegan washed down by really nice coffee and we took cake home for later. Thanks

The Aldwark Arms

Tollerton, Hambleton
16/12/2018: Had our annual Christmas meal for the village of Aldwark last night. The service and food was excellent. Our booking was for 62 people and the whole evening was faultless. Would recommend the Aldwark Arms for any and every special occasion. We are so lucky to have such a special pub in our village. Thank you to all the staff who worked last night.
11/12/2018: An absolutely stunning meal and the staff could not have been more polite or helpful. It was my mum's birthday and they did her a wonderful birthday dessert and joined in singing happy birthday to her. The pub itself is stunning and could not be cleaner. Could not recommend this place more!!

2 Oxford Place

City and Hunslet, Leeds
18/12/2018: We visited this coelic restaurant on a wet and windy evening and entering the restaurant was like walking into someones house. Warm, compact and comfortable. Cosy modestly sized and could be considered intimate. We sat at a small table and were quickly asked about requiring drinks as we inspected the menu. Not a wide choice but sufficient. The presentation of the plates was excellent and the portion very reasonable. However the small bowl of vegetables was rather pathetic for two people. The cheesecake was pronounced excellent however the Christmas pudding was somewhat modestly sized although nice. Also a very good wine list.
17/12/2018: I booked this restaurant for my partner's birthday and it was a success. The food was lovely (goat's cheese tart to start and steak as a main). I had called in advance to say that I would bring some candles and asked if they could add them to whichever dessert my partner chose. We had enjoyed our first two courses and I was thinking that I would need to excuse myself to hand over the candles before we chose our pudding. In the end, it was all taken care of beautifully! Before I could make a move, the friendly waiter came around the corner with a gorgeous slice of cake decorated with a candle. It was a really lovely touch on top of tasty food and warm service. Thank you!

L'Albero Delle Noci

Low Harrogate, Harrogate, <20£
12/12/2018: We discovered this adorable small restaurant yesterday and fell in love! Outstanding service from our waiter Roberto , who was welcoming, friendly and to top it all off, very humourous!!
12/12/2018: Booked here with a table for 8 (booking was nothing to do with me!) but what a wonderful time. Greeted by the manager, the menu was excellent - real Italian food. I couldn't comment on what other people has, but I had the most brilliant gnocchi with cheese - the best ever

That's Amore UK

Moortown, Leeds
14/12/2018: What a gem this place is. By far the best calzone I have ever had, definitely generous with the toppings!
08/12/2018: Last night was about my 6th visit to Culto, which is thankfully local to where I live, as you need to get there early to avoid a short wait for tables. They don't take bookings - first come first served basis but there is a small bar area and a couple of tables outside if you need to wait. Food is excellent - spare ribs were meaty, melt in the mouth and fell off the bone, the sauce was deliciously tangy, and the portion very generous. Pizzas are freshly made to order with an excellent range of toppings and a charcoal 'nero' speciality base is tasty and helpful for digesting said pizzas! A slight error on my bill was rectified after I noticed the next day - the owner and staff could not have been more apologetic or helpful - really impressed with Culto for the ambiance, the quality of the food, good wine and best of all, fantastic customer service. Oh, and cool yet welcoming interior. A real Meanwood coup and credit to the owners. My 'go to' to show off to my visiting friends!

Graze on the Green

Dales, Ryedale
14/12/2018: Great menu choice. Just opted for poached eggs but they were perfectly cooked. Huge pot of tea was particularly welcome on a cold and wet November morning before setting out on a moor walk. Friendly staff. Dog friendly. We visited on a Saturday 15 minutes after 10am opening and were lucky to get a table as lots were reserved so you might wish to plan in advance.
08/12/2018: Love, love, love this place. The staff are great, so friendly and obliging, the real fire, simple décor, wonderful food and best cakes for miles around.

Love Cheese

Guildhall, York, <20£
02/12/2018: Nos alojamos en el pub Gillygate y pasamos el café un par de veces. Al regresar a nuestro alojamiento, una noche decidimos entrar.
17/11/2018: What a fantastic find, wonderful food and wine. A very knowledge owner who knows his onions (cheese and wine). Will visit again, fantastic.

The Old Oak Tree

Whitestonecliffe, Hambleton
17/12/2018: We arrived on a Friday afternoon, we didn’t have a booking, and were promptly shown to a lovely table.
17/12/2018: Had a fantastic meal here. The menu was vast and difficult to choose what to have! The meals were lovely and plentiful. We had to share a dessert! The staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough to be helpful. The prices were very reasonable too. Would definitely return.

William & Victoria

Low Harrogate, Harrogate, 20-30£
08/01/2019: The owner of our B & B (Acorn Lodge) recommended this place and we weren't disappointed.
06/01/2019: One of my favourite places! Great food, lovely atmopshere and good service! A real independent and successful Harrogate restaurant!

Brew and Brownie

Guildhall, York
18/12/2018: Ate lunch here on a busy Mon in Dec. No problem finding a seat although it was busy, shared a table of 6 with others which was fine. Service was efficient although my server wasn't very friendly although the server behind the counter made up for it. Good selection of food, which came quickly and was lovely. Smashed avocado with egg & mint tea. Lovely atmosphere and although small, it's a lovely place for drinks and food. Handy location opposite Museum Gardens and near Bootham Bar. Enjoyable.
15/12/2018: We popped in for a couple of coffees to take out. We had a long time to wait and it wasn’t a relaxing time. The staff were rushing around and there was a sense pandemonium which didn’t lend it to a relaxing visit, be it only for a take away

The Dining Room

Boroughbridge, Harrogate
09/12/2018: Fantastic Sunday lunch today. Great food, lovely welcome and relaxed but attentive service. The last time we had beef as good was the last time we were here!I Can't praise it enough and all at a very reasonable price. We were thoroughly spoiled.
07/11/2018: Long cold day, tired and fed up. Husband suggested the early bird at the Dining Room. They were so accommodating. We gave them about 5 mins notice and we were shown to a lovely table in a WARM, cosy corner.Absolutely outstanding food, freshly prepared, Homemade sourdough bread that was horribly moreish.Chicken parfait that was so smooth, home made almost christmassy chutney, delicious and I don't even like chutney.Fantastic wine.We would have loved one of the delicious sounding desserts but we'd run out of room! The very lovely friendly Lisa(Front of house) gave us a little stripey paper bag with the rest of the sourdough loaf to take home.

Calder, Calderdale
05/12/2018: A long overdue review of this delightful place. We tried many cafes in Hebden Bridge before arriving at Lovegrows and this is undoubtedly the best and we visit at least monthly. The Croque Madame (Ham and cheese on toast with poached egg) is the best ever brunch. A friendly welcome and the opportunity to join in with conversations, it sometimes has the atmosphere of an old style local pub.
22/11/2018: We visited this cafe for the first time a few months ago after planning a trip to the nearby Lamppost Cafe which is allegedly dog friendly. We found the Lamppost very disappointing with no staff to serve us so decided to try Lovegrows instead. We could not have been happier with the service in this Cafe. The staff are so friendly and welcoming to dogs and people and the food is beautiful. They serve very good vegetarian options which isn't always the case in some cafes. We have returned since our first visit and will continue to do so!
