Excellent food and very friendly service. My lady had the Cornish mackerel which was delicious but the salads which accompanied the fish were wonderful-such a variety and all adding to the splendid lunch. I had the ham and grainy mustard sandwiches-lovely slices of good ham and a good helping of mustard as well. I also had the salad selections. Overall two excellent lunches.

Such a “feel good” place. I had arranged to camp and although it was very busy I was welcomed and looked after. Tea and cake were great while the camping spot is just awesome. Totally natural and a lovely place to be.

Such lovely food - the salad is amazing as a meal in itself, and all the lunches come with salad too. Lovely sandwiches and a range of lunch options. Cakes and desserts are also delicious. Staff are friendly and location is great. Parking gets full quickly so best to car share and/or park on Porthallow beach and walk up.

I camped one night at the fat apples cafe, as was walking the swcp. It is a lovely spot and I pitched on even ground under some trees. There were others staying and we all had lots of space. The owners were friendly and super helpful. It is a family-run business and their love for the place and the efforts they’ve made to develop it really shines through. Shower was hot, toilets clean. I had breakfast and an evening meal and both were tasty, the evening meal’s salads were particularly flavoursome and very welcome after a few days of near fibre-free, ‘pub fare’.

Best vegetarian breakfast ever! Really interesting and creative and I’m not a vegetarian just liked the sound of it, so glad I chose it. Worth travelling for and squeezing down a very narrow track. Plants for sale, secondhand books and gift shop onsite as well. Worth booking a table if the weather is a bit dodgy as not huge inside, limited parking onsite and a little cove for a paddle afterwards at the bottom of the hill. We loved it 😊

Had a lovely couple of days escape at the tranquil and very welcoming Fat Apples with the family- the kids in a tent and us in the cosy gypsy caravan. It’s such a beautiful spot, with great breakfasts and lovely tea and cake. All just a few steps off the coast path, so some lovely walks on the doorstep. A great place to stay for a few nights or just stop for something to eat and drink.

A lovely spot off the beaten track, not far from Porthallow, but on the South West Coastal Path - we walked up from Porthoustock. We visited Fat Apples on 19th May 2021.We travelled through lovely countryside on The Lizard Peninsular to reach Fat Apples. It was busy! And justifiably so! Despite having many customers to serve, when the food arrived it was worth the wait. We both had the cheeseburger (£9.95) which cames with the most delicious mixture of salads and sauté pots. The burger was extremely tasty. There is limited seating indoors, and quite a bit of outdoors seating, which was fine for when we were there as the weather was dry.Fat Apples is a family run business and we received a very warm welcome.Well worth the visit.Berkshire jpb

it is good to see the fat Apples open again with plenty of outside seating, we have been twice over the last few weeks and on both occasions the food was excellent. I would like to think that sooner rather than later the restaurant can return to serving food on propper plates and will give up using those awful wooden knives and forks. Having been deprived of live entertainment for the last 12 months it was fun to see a real person playing music.

I had the smoked mackerel salad and my friend had the frittata. I loved the salads that came on the side and the sauté potatoes! It was nice to see that they were using recyclable takeaway plates/cups. The inside of the cafe felt very well spaced and we loved the gift shop and different areas of things for sale. Fourth year in a row we’ve been back and the food and service is just as excellent, despite COVID restrictions. Arrived at 12pm for lunch and found all tables reserved - managed to squat on someone’s 2pm table but take heed: you definitely need to book ahead at the moment! Tried to book the following week for cream teas but no luck so instead booked cream teas to takeaway and ate them on Porthallow Beach. A wonderful compromise! Whether you’re taking away or eating in, the food is to die for. Very generous portions and well worth the money. Fresh crab sandwiches with an amazing, delicious and eclectic selection of salads included. Can also highly recommend the brie and maple syrup sandwich with bacon - so good! Cream teas with scones straight out the oven and so much clotted cream you would not believe. Staff are also so friendly and accommodating, and we were very pleased to see all takeaway and eat in packaging/plates/cutlery being used is compostable. In summary: incredible food, wonderful staff, make sure you book ahead!

Although it was only ten minutes before the cafe was due to close when my friend and I arrived on a misty January afternoon, we were made most welcome and offered various options of food and drink. We opted for a cream tea and were told that there was no need to rush over it, because there was still washing uo to be done.. We were soon served with the tea in a large teapot, together with china cups. The food arrived shortly afterwards - the scones accompanied by a large dish of jam and another of clotted cream, which was adorned with cleverly cut grapes. The scones, jam and cream were exceptionally tasty and we each enjoyed three cups of tea from the pot. We both really enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning, when we are next in the area.

Fat Apples is awesome and I can't believe we haven't visited before, as we stay at Tregarne, between St Keverne and Porthallow every autumn break. With the pub in Porthallow currently currently closed, we planned our lunch stop at Porthallow. Fat Apples has a lot to live up to - we had several recommendations. It ticks all the boxes, beautiful outside on a warm autumn day, fantastic friendly and efficient service, alcohol licence if you want it, wonderful salads, they taste as good as they look. The homemade cakes and crumbles are devine. There is a gift shop to mooch around while waiting for your food to arrive. Check the autumn / winter opening times on website. I really recommend walking to the cafe if you can. There were quite a lot of cars squeezed in at peak lunch time and it's only a short walk up the hill from the beach in Porthallow.

Called half a day ahead to order a vegan brekky, although I'm not sure if this is necessary. A large plate of well considered food indeed! Slice of fried bread, fried potatoes, mushrooms, cherry toms, beans, half a delish sausage roll and a couple of extra little surprises. Really was tasty. The staff were lovely and the cafe is really cute. A delightful melding of Amsterdam coffee shop and tiny festival. Oh and the loos were spotless.

We always make it a point to have lunch in this stunning café during our holidays in this area and it has never let us down. We have tried quite a few of the delicious dishes on the menu and I must confess I have copied some of their recipes... for example, the fig, walnuts and apricot salad! I definitely recommend it if you are looking for fine cuisine and great atmosphere.

We stopped en route, whilst taking a circular walk with our dog from St Keverne. Fat Apples is conveniently located just off the footpath and there is direct rear access, rather than having to walk on the narrow roads.

I visited Fat Apples in June, based on reviews I had seen online and in the local paper. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the quality of the food was excellent. I would definitely recommend visiting!

Staying in Porthallow for a week and drove past this place a few times before deciding to stop for breakfast one morning. So glad that we did, delicious food, toys for the children to play with while waiting and lovely garden. The cakes looked good too so hoping to pop in again before we leave.

We live fairly local and have only just found this gorgeous cafe. The lunch was just perfect, smoked salmon salad and proper 'old fashioned' desserts

Having seen a lot of buzz around this place we were happy to discover it was at the halfway point on a circular walk we had planned from St Keverne to Penhallow (iWalk Cornwall app- also amazing). We were lucky with the weather and sat outside, plenty of relaxed seating and water bowls for doggies, even some deckchairs which the kids loved. Very friendly service and nothing was too much trouble, gluten free well tolerated and understood. The salad plate in particular was spectacular. We will be back!

Dropped in for lunch on a Saturday, what a fantastic find!! Funky and quirky vegan cafe. Loved the layout and decor. Best chai latte ever. Absolutely gorgeous tofu tacos, and the squash salad was sooo tasty. It’s dog friendly too!! Young lady was on her own front of house, and the cafe was full, she was run off her feet, but she was brilliant - well done!! Now top of our list for lunching in Mousehole!

I have been here four times now, its become a thing whenever we come to Newquay, tattoo before I go home. The staff are incredibly friendly and always chatting away when you're there. They make you feel like part of the family. It's clean, tidy, always smells so good woth the cakes and coffee, I always feel like I'm home when I go in.

Very good B&B in a very central location. But it is very expensive so 'value for money' comes into question. Very good cooked breakfast served in the mornings but for the money it should provide freshly squeezed orange juice.

We found our way to Freathy Farmhouse Cafe by following a sign from Whitsand Bay. What a lovely find! Very rustic and charming cafe. We sat outside in the sun and enjoyed very generous sandwiches served with delicious salad. Some of us even managed cake! We will definitely return although I understand it is best to check opening times. Ps Loved the decor in the loo!
