Four of us came here in early November to celebrate my birthday. From the booking through to actual service it was wonderful. You can bring your own wine and pay corkage which we did but ended up just having some of the excellent organic wine from the wine list. There was lovely bread and olive oil on the table which disappeared quickly. I had cured trout for starter, hake for main and a posh Eton mess (my best description anyway). All the food was fresh local produce, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The most surprising and very pleasing thing was the bill. At around £55 per head including wine and service it was extremely good value for money in this day and age. I would most definitely look to book again when we come to Cornwall next.

Absolutely delighted with our visit here. This was planned as our (day late) wedding anniversary meal and it did not disappoint Quite possibly the best scallops I have ever had, my wife had the smoked haddock soufflé and was very impressed. monkfish and Pork for mains more exceptional food. Incredibly good value as well for such high end food. Evening finished Lovely chatting with the owners and a couple of local regulars. Be planning another trip to the area next year and fully intend to visit again.

Eaten here several times before, when we’ve been lucky enough to get a table, always been fabulous food cooked and served by husband and wife team, I booked the whole restaurant for my wife’s Birthday Only 20 covers, all reasonably local friends and family, and as always absolutely fantastic food and service, spot on in every way, Always a little nervous about giving 5 star reviews as it probably makes it more difficult to book for ourselves, but they do deserve it. Thanks Dave

Every now and then we are lucky enough to eat somewhere where the food transcends the ordinary, because of the care with which ingredients are chosen, the cleverness with which they are matched and then the skill with which they are prepared and cooked. The Greenhouse is such a place. The six dishes ordered by us were all fabulous; layered with flavour and textures, based I think on locally sourced ingredients. The atmosphere is easy going and places must be at a premium. If you can get a table then you are in for a treat.

Whilst on holiday in Cornwall we were fortunate to book the last table available during our stay. Not only was this the best meal we had in Cornwall, it’s the best meal we’ve eaten out in a long time! My husband is a very good cook and becomes frustrated by the usual fare served at many restaurants as he thinks he can produce better food at home, although I enjoy eating out for the ambiance. We were both rewarded at The Greenhouse. It is a small, friendly and unpretentious place which is obviously very popular so book ahead. Both Leonie and Neil made us feel welcome. The menu changes depending on what is available I assume and has limited choice, which we think is a good sign. My husband and I had scallops to start with which had a slightly Asian flavour and were delicious. Our friends both had haddock soufflé with a carrot sauce which was tasty but quite large helpings. To follow, my husband had monkfish which was perfectly cooked. I had venison which was tender and delicious although I didn’t manage to finish the dish. We all had different flavours of the excellent homemade ice creams or sorbets. Neil was very happy to chat about how he makes them and even produced a sample of the beetroot sorbet for us to try which we all enjoyed. We took our own wine for which we paid corkage. As we left the restaurant and headed into the pictures square of St. Keverne, the church bells were chiming which was a perfect end to the evening.

We turned up and were welcomed by Neil who explained there were running a little late so could we delay by about 20 mins. His polite manner and way of talking to us as people meant that this was not a chore in anyway. He took our bottle of champagne and placed it in the freezer so that it was deliciously cold when we got back. The menu was easy to read and follow, and we enjoyed some complimentary bread and olive oil as we tried to decide on what choices to make from the menu. What made this difficult was not the endless choice of options, but the fact they all looked so delicious. The food when it was delivered was simply AWESOME, and we cannot praise the chef enough. All three courses we requested were cooked expertly, presented brilliantly, and tasted delicious. Neil was attentive when he needed to be, but left us alone to enjoy our evening together, thank you. We were so impressed that we have re-booked for the near future when we have friends coming down from Portsmouth.

Great flavourful, feasts for the eyes and the tummy. Generous portions of fresh and delicious local ingredients. Small but perfectly formed menu that manages to have something for everyone. If you can get a table here you really must grab it! Amazing scallops, smoked salmon was almost like tuna carpaccio, lamb cooked beautifully, monk fish was meaty and tasty. My husband managed a pudding but I was too full so I had a glass of their rhubarb kombucha which was a perfect end to the meal for me. If ever I’m back in this area I will most definitely be booking a table. Everything about the Greenhouse was absolutely superb. We had initially hoped to boook for my actual birthday but the restaurant was shut that day and so we had to go the day after which was no bother to me. We arrived about five minutes before our booking time but we were immediately seated and shown the menu. I will point out here that the restaurant does offer a wine list but they also offer BYOB for £5.50 corkage so you can have the chance to have one of their wines or one of your own if you have an absolutely favourite wine. I opted to buy from the menu and my parent chose to use their own wine that they enjoy themselves. I would highly recommend their glass of Prosecco if you are a fan of sparkling wines. The menu isn’t a large menu but I honestly don’t think it needs to be as the food on offer is outstanding. There is an option of fish, meat or vegetarian. I chose a fish starter and a meat main (pork belly and pork medallions ~ and to say I am not a massive fan of pork and chose this and enjoyed it definitely says something!). The food was outstanding and it’s easy to see why this place is so popular. The restaurant is quite small too, so please make sure you do book to avoid disappointment. I don’t believe the restaurant does offer walk in service as they did seem to be full every night they were open during the week. That being said, it was also very socially distanced and felt very safe to eat there with the ongoing pandemic. It has actually been one of my first meals out since last year. They made me feel very safe and like there was some normality again which was just what I needed after a year of working none stop. They made the night wonderful and I am honestly not able to thank them enough for their hospitality. I was shocked at the price because usually for that kind of service, food quality and portions you would expect to pay quite a lot, but this was so reasonably priced too! Definitely worth the money. There were x3 starters, mains and desserts, x3 glasses of wine from the menu x2 drinks from the board, x2 corkage wine bottles and it was cheaper than I expected. As I said, that kind of food quality and service etc in London you’d be paying over the top so it was a nice surprise. I will definitely book to eat here again when we next visit St Kerverne, make sure you get yourself booked if you are down there at any time.Thank you again for a wonderful night

This was our second visit to The Greenhouse and, if anything, it was even better than our first (in October 2020). The quality of the cooking, the service, the value for money and the ambience were all outstanding. By far the best food we ate in our week on The Lizard. The only “issue” was in deciding what to have. Everything on the menu caught my eye and the dishes I saw being served to other diners confirmed that I would have been very happy with absolutely everything on the menu. I eventually opted for seafood both as starter and main. Scallops followed by monkfish to be precise. High quality ingredients, superbly cooked, generously portioned and very fairly priced. I was literally too full to have a pudding, but I’m determined not to make that mistake next time, and there will definitely be a next time!

The couple who together run this bistro deserve National Treasure recognition. in what looks like it was a front room in out-of-the way St Keverne, they invent, cook and serve the most lovely dinners. Everything that can be is hand-made, from the bread, the gravadlax, the pate, the souffles, the mains, the puddings, including always all the ice creams. This time, we enjoyed duck liver pâté, smoked beetroot and burrito, salmon, local lamb and a spectacular fig sticky pudding with hazelnut ice cream and poached pears. There are lots of awards of course. Even in the lockdowns and Tiers, they have served their local community and turned their hand to take-aways and bakery. Tables are even fewer in these times, but book if you possibly can.

Very friendly service, so difficult to choose! Smoked salmon and chive soufflé in spinach and sorrel sauce as starter and a very large Newlyn bream fillet with fresh crab risotto were the common choice and were full of flavour besides being good to look at. Argued the toss as to whether authentic carnaroli rice was used for the risotto, and decided probably, it was so creamy. One person opted for two starters, rather than starter and main, no problem. Desserts good on the eye if not the waistline, but then, only on holiday once! Take your own wine corkage £3, we opted for local An Hof beer which is both fine and educational. Prices well down for first class food, family run, not too many tables.

Beautiful food with great attention to detail and fabulous customer service. We will definitely be visiting again. A thousand thank yous for a wonderful evening.

Wow! We went here whilst staying in the village as it was recommended by our hosts. We were blown away by the quality of the food and we were made to feel very welcome, even though it felt the restaurant was full of regular locals...which is not at all surprising. You are welcome to take your own drink which we didn't, but another time we would. The food was excellent, cooked by someone who knew exactly what they were doing and you could tell it was with first class local ingredients. It was a special place to go and a memory that will stay with us for a very long time and when we visit that way again we will be sure to return.

The best meal we have had for AGES ...it was seriously excellent. The service was impeccable and everything we ate was so delicious, beautiful ingredients, sauces, purée, fish, pork made 3 ways and the most mouthwatering cheeses and marinated raisins. Thanks and we will be back ASAP.

My husband and I returned to the Greenhouse for another wonderful meal. We were greeted like old friends and made to feel very welcome. The food was outstanding. I had a Hake dish and my husband had the steak. The desserts were also wonderful. Chocolate nemesis and liquorice ice cream a perfect combination.

My husband and I visited this restaurant last night for the first time. We both had the same food, squid to start ( amazing ) and the fillet of beef ( gorgeous ). Thereafter we had a sweet of coffee creme brule which had a sort of Bonfire toffee glaze on the top and was served with a shortbread biscuit ( amazing ) taste. We thoroughly enjoyed everything and it was all cooked to perfection, we're still talking about the quality of the food today! What an amazing find and such nice people too, we'll be back ..

Our party of 4 had the most delicious three course meal complete with 2 excellent bottles of wine. Unassuming from the street but once inside the room was bustling with atmosphere and everyone in there was clearly enjoying their meal as much as we were! A must visit if you are anywhere near- or even if your not! Will definitely be returning here when we visit again.

Mum lives locally and we’ve visited multiple times and not once has it failed to excite. We have tried various dishes but the last time we went we had the haddock soufflé, which was so light but packed with original tastes. We loved the mains, particularly the aubergine cannelloni with the sea bass. However the highlight for our party this time had to be the sorbets and ice creams. They are perfectly balanced and packed with unique flavours. An amazing little spot off the beaten track. I would definitely recommend The Greenhouse to all in the area.

Have been here many times, and had many memorable meals. It's not just that it's one of the most southerly restaurants in Britain, which you approach across wild moorland: everything about the experience feels personal. The food, which is not only inventively devised, but really feels like it's been prepared just for you, by Leonie, while Neil's service is caring without being intrusive. The treacle-cured gravalax is exquisite, the cheese souffle has to be experienced at least once in a lifetime. I once had a whole hen crab - an experience I hope to repeat. Hard to put into words exactly why this place feels magical.

We returned to this beautiful restaurant as we were on holiday again in the area. Neil and Leonie continue to serve delicious food in an intimate relaxed setting. Every dish was cooked to perfection- the menu is always inventive with local seasonal produce. We can’t wait to return when next in Cornwall.

Had a lovely meal at The Greenhouse. Even though we were a large group taking up the whole restaurant, our food all arrived together. Staff couldn't have been nicer would highly recommend.

The greenhouse is a hidden gem in the beautiful village of st Keverne. The restaurant prides itself on using organic local ingredients, organic wines and local beers. If you enjoy fine dining and are looking for a restaurant that captures the Essence of Cornwall this is the place to go. Well done to the greenhouse and we will definitely recommend you to our friends.

We’ve been a few times over the years as we holida in the area annually. This time, we made not one but two reservations to eat at the Greenhouse - why traipse somewhere else when you have somewhere so wonderful within staggering distance ?! The food once again was perfect - a haddock soufflé with a curry sauce and Parmesan crisp was light but full of flavour, and the squash fritters for my main - just a gorgeous option for a non meat eater. The owners deserve success and whilst I’d love for Michelin to come knocking with a star equally I don’t - I wouldn’t the lengthy wait to book a table and so on that comes with it!

Amazing place, best food ever and at normal prices. Not up it's own arsenal like some restaurants in the Michelin Guide. Just the best food I've ever eaten out. No attention to detail missed and friendly enviroment. You can even take your own wine for only £3.00 corkage per bottle. Please go and eat here you will not be disappointed !

We didn't think we'd manage to get a table on a Saturday in the peak holiday season just a few days ahead - we got very lucky! The small but airy dining room was buzzing by the time we arrived - and to my delight there were some locals there as well as holidaymakers. People were waving to their friends walking by in the (almost traffic-free) village street, and conversing with the proprietors and even people at adjacent tables. The best of a 'proper local' atmosphere combined with stunningly good food that would outdo many a 'gastropub' and was served without pretentious song-and-dance, just good old-fashioned politeness. The local scallops and hake were deliciously fresh and perfectly cooked; my sister enjoyed a very generous helping of tasty pork, and neither of us could resist the crème brulee with roast peach (though we were also tempted by the Roskilly's ice cream, which we've been fans of for years. There is also a good wine list, so we left our BYO bottle in its bag and enjoyed the ones on offer. The whole evening was most enjoyable and also very good value - right down to the free parking on the town square or the £1 honesty box outside the village band room. I hope to come back again soon.

We paid a return visit to our favourite restaurant bar none whilst in Cornwall last week and found it to be as wonderful as ever, the culinary high spot of our annual family holiday! I only wish it were our local restaurant. A friendly and truly inviting place and just the absolute best cooking with fresh high quality ingredients turned into masterpieces by the talented Léonie. For starters my husband had geavlax which he pronounced excellent and my daughters enthused about their wonderful wild garlic soufflé with celeriac velouté and Parmesan crisp. For mains we all demolished generous portions of perfectly cooked hake on an onion purée with greens served on a dreamy lightly spiced sauce and, being very greedy we also enjoyed bowls of the crispest most delicious chips imaginable...Puddings were similarly delicious: coffee crème brûlée with almond shortbread and a chocolate truffle, and a chocolate nemesis with peanut butter ice cream were both greatly enjoyed. We also had a delicious organic white wine and home made bread! Lovely friendly efficient service by Neil. He and Léonie are such a nice couple : warm genuine and welcoming. This is cooking of an exceptional quality by someone who understands flavour combinations and feeds everyone with love and generosity- the appreciation from all the other contented diners in the restaurant was very evident from the enthusiastic remarks I overheard. A happy convivial place obviously much loved by locals and visitors. I am already looking forward to next year's visit to The Greenhouse!

I make point of eating at the Greenhouse at least once whenever I'm in Cornwall. It has to be the best restaurant on the Lizard and probably beyond. You really get the impression that the owners have a real respect for food. They are very friendly and very professional. It is incredible value for money for such a high standard.

This is in our view the finest restaurant in Cornwall and we have eaten in many of them over the years. Neil and Leonie are lovely people; in this small, unpretentious restaurant Neil looks after you so effortlessly and Leonie is a culinary genius who exudes calm whilst producing such original combinations of flavours that surprise and delight. In the foulest of weathers we were confident it would be worth the effort and we were not disappointed! We were very satisfied!

We love everything about this tiny restaurant, in an unspoilt small village, but above all the owners' dedication to fresh and interesting food; influenced by world cuisines while relying on great local ingredients. Short menus, including their own superb smoked salmon and breads, are very fairly priced and accompanied by good wine suggestions. Lovely welcome, thoughtful service, and stand out desserts made our New Year's Day visit a very special one.

Ate here again twice in November and Neil and Leonie continue to maintain such really high standards. Do not be deterred from the outside appearance of the bistro as from start to finish everything that is served up is just a joy and so lovingly prepared and served. Your hosts quietly go about their work in a very understated way but provide you a most memorable evening out. Thanks again N & L.

We are hardly regulars - this was only our third visit to the Greenhouse over a period of a few years. But, it never disappoints. This is a restaurant where the quality of the food is high (the provenance of it, too) and everything seems to be under-stated. What a treat it is to sit down and enjoy a carefully-cooked, well-presented meal, prepared and served by people who use no unnecessary adjectives on the menu, nor unnecessary styling on the plate or at the table. Everything on the short, three-course menu looked good and proved to be delicious - my wife particularly enjoyed her venison and I loved the whole plaice. On a Saturday evening in early December, the restaurant was busy, but, certainly not packed out - not bad, though, for remote little St Keverne at that time of year. There would probably have been more had the proprietor's wife not been unwell - she could not work that evening, so, he did the cooking and the waiting. It was a remarkable achievement. Nothing went wrong with the food or service (nothing that we were aware of, anyway!) and we had an extremely enjoyable meal. In an earlier review, I wrote that other restaurants could learn a lot from The Greenhouse. That is still the case.

Another fantastic meal at The Greenhouse. Many of our party chose squid as a starter and it was utterly delicious, a slightly sweet pumpkin houmous complimenting the perfectly charred squid, wish I could recreate it at home! Good selection of starters/Mains/Dessert- Menu was 3 courses for £25 and the portion sizes were spot on. My youngest son actually asks if it is 'Greenhouse day' on holiday- Leonie and Neil are culinary heroes in the eyes of our kids!

Dropped in for lunch on a Saturday, what a fantastic find!! Funky and quirky vegan cafe. Loved the layout and decor. Best chai latte ever. Absolutely gorgeous tofu tacos, and the squash salad was sooo tasty. It’s dog friendly too!! Young lady was on her own front of house, and the cafe was full, she was run off her feet, but she was brilliant - well done!! Now top of our list for lunching in Mousehole!

Very good B&B in a very central location. But it is very expensive so 'value for money' comes into question. Very good cooked breakfast served in the mornings but for the money it should provide freshly squeezed orange juice.

We found our way to Freathy Farmhouse Cafe by following a sign from Whitsand Bay. What a lovely find! Very rustic and charming cafe. We sat outside in the sun and enjoyed very generous sandwiches served with delicious salad. Some of us even managed cake! We will definitely return although I understand it is best to check opening times. Ps Loved the decor in the loo!
