CAST Cafe in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Fabulous food, service and atmosphere. Visited after Park-run. A complete treat.

Without fail always absolutely fantastic food and service. Charred hispi cabbage with miso dressing and bacon breadcrumbs. Celeriac soup + chilli oil. Hand cut chips and fried egg on toast from the kids menu. I'm definitely returning for the Beef shin and peppercorn stew. Local ingredients fairly priced.

Just amazing. Great food, cooked with quality ingredients that have been treated with the respect they deserve. Chilled atmosphere & friendly, laid back, attentive service. Helston is very lucky to have Cast and its Cafe.

Lovely place for coffee, delicious food

The building ambience and seating both inside & outside is very nice. Pretty garden. Good amenities. Spotless disabled toilet. Very clean and full of character. It's only drawback is food is rather limited on the limited menu. Fresh locally produced and good quality food on offer but very limited choice with no flexibility or variation. Do not offer variations with the breakfast menu, though cooked beautifully and presented nicely I really enjoy warm cereals for example, like porridge, or pancakes but they do not offer porridge or croissants or even a nice selection of basic sandwiches like egg cress ham & cheese chutney prawn or a ploughmans to suit all tastes which is disappointing . They do have sourdough bread and a choice of brown or white but not a full choice of breads with flexible options. Food is expensive here. Home made cakes are very disappointing. Mainly boring tray bakes, they dont offer a wide enough selection of delicious sponge cakes at all so it's a limited menu indeed. Staff are helpful pleasant and polite. Fine place for coffee tea hot chocolate. A peaceful place. Predominantly for adults though children are welcome. I didn't see any high chairs. Limited parking. Very close to town.

I’ve been to Cast cafe four times in the past three weeks (a tad obsessed at this point) and I can safely say it’s my new favourite place to eat and drink! The food has always been excellent and the coffee is an absolute delight, plus the staff are always welcoming and friendly too. I invited some friends down with me the last few times and now they’re waxing lyrical too. All in all a really cool little place, looking forward to our next visit for poached eggs and chorizo!

My favourite coffee, breakfast and lunch spot in Helston. Yallah coffee brewed to perfection! Mikey and the team are lovely and go out of their way to look after you. Great vibes all round!

I absolutely LOVE this place. It’s not a “caff” in the British understanding (and pronunciation) of that term. It’s more like a coffeehouse with a small menu of very well considered and expertly prepared lunch (and breakfast) options. I need one of these places near me where I live in London, because it puts our local coffeehouses to shame.

Wow. The food, atmosphere and service is fabulous. So happy to have found this delightful and well priced café. We discovered it one day for coffee and loved it so much we returned the same day for dinner. Highly recommend.

It's lovely. Smiley friendly chap serving, so felt welcome. Good coffee. Yummy breakfasts. Wood burning stove. Fabulous hillside views. Music was gentle mor genres and not too loud which is fabulous because so many cafes have hideous tinny muzak, heavy on bass and far too intrusive to allow you to relax - so that is a huge plus about thus place. We will be back! Updated to say: all the above still true. Really lovely coffee & friendly welcome too :) (A notch down on music volume would help ... even though it was the fabulous Khrangubang 👍 (i think) 🙂 )

Such beautiful, thoughtful, delicious food! We love Cast; the staff, the atmosphere and the entire menu! Also, they are so accommodating to those of us who are vegan or gluten free! 100% recommend!

A tucked away gem. There was a good quality mug of coffee at a sensible price with a log fire and a friendly atmosphere. Not a typical coffee shop but I loved it.

This place deserves more than 5 stars. We had a really relaxing evening and the vegan food was delicious. We will certainly be going back before going home.

What an amazing place. Food was full of flavour and beautifully cooked. Compliments to the Chef. Also we had a fussy child with us who didn't want anything off the menu but they happily did her cheese and toast which she throughly enjoyed . It was a nice relaxed dining experience. I'm so glad we got to visit this place whilst in Helston.

Great dinner! This place is a real surprise, the Cast Cafè is a real restaurant where high quality dishes with a strong personality are served in a comfortable and contemporary setting. The crab arancini are a must, the beef stew is wonderful on the palate, among the appetizers, all excellent, the stir-fried chorizo ​​stands out. Quality bread, fresh and local ingredients. Absolutely recommended.

Honestly surprised to find such a gem in the heart of Helston that does such fresh refreshing delicious food! If you are looking for something that hits the spot this is the go to place, with very reasonable prices for a wonderful lunch time! Now I need to go back and see if it’s the same or better for breakfast and dinner!

My favourite place to eat in Helston. If you’re looking for a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, food made with fabulous local ingredients, amazing flavours, come to CAST Cafe. There is always a good range of vegetarian options, great coffee and delicious cakes. And all staff is so friendly.

Lovely food and coffee and great service

Came here for a coffee and also dinner in the same day! Coffee was great - they use Yallah which I love. There was decent Wi-Fi and it’s a quiet space so would be perfect for work or study, although I don’t know if they endorse this. Dinner was delicious and reasonably priced. I had a lovely well made negroni and the house red which definitely delivered. We had the chorizo which was crispy on the outside and pleasantly soft on the inside, along with kalamata olives and fresh bread - all great. Following this we had tagine with a garlicky bean mash which was excellent. Confidently flavoured and a generous portion. The staff were polite, attentive, and helpful. I would absolutely recommend this spot for either a daytime or evening visit.

C-A-S-T remains one of the best places to grab a sit down coffee in Helston. Great drinks and cakes, good wi-fi, lovely staff and a great atmosphere.

Not good for takeaway coffee. You wait a long time while they make coffees for big groups of sit in customers who order after you

A real hidden gem in Helston.I have been twice now for lunch and each time the menu is different and plenty of options to choose from, delicious flavours and beautifully presented and the saff are polite and welcoming highly recommended a visit you won't be disappointed 😀

A real oasis ! Great place for a range of quality food and drink. We had coffee and croissants also tea and toast. Sounds ordinary,but far from it. Staff are great and extremely helpful. This place very much deserves a visit to discover the full menu range and other ancillary activities.Dog friendly

I regularly pop in for a Coffee. I just love the gentle, chilled atmosphere and wonderful smell of the food.

We loved the Cast Cafe, great atmosphere, lovely food and delightful coffee (didn't make the hairs on my arms stand up!). The Rarebit was delicious, chilli sauce so tasty. Definitely a great place to eat in Helston.

I'm reluctant to leave this review. Purely from a selfish point of view you have to understand. I adore this little gem of a place. The food is fresh, imaginative and super tasty. The service is always excellent and done with a smile. It's somewhere to relax on your own or with family or friends and you can take your pooch with you too. If you do go, you have to promise to keep this place to yourself 🤫🤫 😉

Wow, this place is fantastic. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is very calm and romantic, perfect for a date. If I could give more than 5 stars I would, the food was incredible. The vegetarian dishes were out of this world! The prices are also very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Warm and friendly; beautiful food made with love, and good coffee. I'm gluten free and on an awkward prescribed diet, which the ladies behind the counter dealt kindly with and the chef came out to discuss my needs before putting together a lovely plate of food for me. I couldn't ask for more, it was delicious! Veggies and vegans imaginatively catered for as well. Perfect.

We stopped for breakfast there and it was very tasty. Sourdough bread with beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and egg. Delicious coffee as well. Highly recommended place to eat.

Loved eating here. Staff friendly and professional. Food was tastefully presented and the quiche was homemade and very filling. The lemon tart was really good. The tables were well spaced out. Thanks for a good experience at very reasonable prices. Car park is cheap and very close. Well worth a visit!

Without a doubt, the best food in Helston. Imaginative menu, beautifully presented food, great but limited wine list. The new outside seating makes it even safer in the pandemic. Friendly staff. You must go.

Hands down the best coffee, cake, lunch, dinner in the area - excellent wine selection too. Service, space and atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and professional. I wish cast cafe was open 7 days a week!

The food was amazing here - we got the crab arancini and soup of the day, which were both delicious! Not to mention their amazing coffee & desserts. The service was also top notch too. Will definitely come back here next time I’m in Helston.

Ordered food and coffee to go and the coffee was very well prepared. It was a blessing to find an eatery which served a more diverse menu that catered to more sensitive diets. Delicious food!! A must if you’re in helston. Felt like a hidden gem only kept for local creatives.

The only place to eat out in Helston the food is spot on, freshly prepared imaginative menu lots of veggie salady options daily blackboard menu. House wines are good. A great open airy venue that is perfect for meeting up with friends inside or out. There is a public Carpark right next door. Being a HELSTON resident I won’t eat out anywhere else.

Genuinely one of the best coffees I’ve ever had. Really nice food in a cool space. I could quite happily take a book and spend the afternoon here.

Inside or out ambience is great. Cleverly designed... And so is the menu. Lovely staff.

Lovely fresh homemade food, good portions in a light and airy room with nice outdoor space too. Always super friendly service and great coffee. They do lots of regular feast and film nights too. Helston’s awesome creative hub :)

Amazing coffee and food. The service was excellent and there are beautiful views out the window. We came on a Wednesday morning and it was pretty quiet. Took an extra coffee to go because it was so good!

Really great, "cube cola" was was tastier than normal coke. Freedom beer was very tasty as well. Really lovely spot overlooking the town. Bartender was chill and had a chat with the resident artist as well! All round great place

I love this cafe. Great atmosphere with a welcoming log burner on chilly days. Views across the town to church. Oh, and the food is fab.

This totally blew past my expectations. We could have a great lunch with fresh ingredients, completely vegan, and then watch a series of John Smith art films. The view is lovely too.

Our second lunch at CAST cafe this holiday - delicious food with friendly service in a really relaxed setting. Vegetarian lunch options were fantastic and the special plum fool of the day was brilliant!

I love it here! The menu is small, but very well put together. I've eaten here several times and never had anything to complain about- the service is great, the food is fresh and the vibe is very chilled. Can't wait to go back!

Have been three times for lunch and on each occasion had excellent food. Can get busy so would recommend reserving a seat so not to be disappointed.

We visited Cotehele in Cornwall on Mother's day and thought there is a reasonable charge for parking. We decided to have lunch first and as you can imagine it was a very busy day for families eating out. I have to give great praise to the staff, both for the quality of the food and for the standard of waiting service they offered.

Felt very off the beaten track but delicious breakfast! Quite a foody menu as well. I had home made baked beans on sourdough toast with sun dried tomatoes, an egg, haloumi and a pesto drizzle!

The "Taste of Italy" night was a memorable affair, with a set menu of dishes and carefully selected bio wines from small producers. All courses were unpretentious and made from scratch using local good quality ingredients. Ambiance was lovely - liked the fact that as an event everyone had bought tickets in advance and were obviously looking forward to it and excited to be there. (Though couldn't help thinking about my Mum being there when it was The Green School in the 60's!). We are looking forward to the next event.

Tucked away but worth finding. Airy interior (apparently was an old schoolroom) and nice views across valley. Also has an outside dining area. Very friendly staff and good food (we had the falafels with beetroot, which was excellent).

We eat here regularly and have sampled breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have never been disappointed, the menu is always interesting and the specials exciting. All the staff are friendly and make an effort to ensure you feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble, even when our 7 year old orders off menu!

Really nice coffee and atmosphere nice garden tables and view caters for vegans aswell and staff were friendly.

Visited today with 2 children to do activity workshop, very interesting and children loved it, adults too!Very bizarre building though never been anywhere like it before.We visited the cafe and our adult food was very nice indeed.My only down was the children’s menu, too little choice and the cheese on toast was poor value we thought.Staff were very friendly and tried to help but I think we would not return to eat with children.
