Wayfarer Bistro in Scarborough

Spent a lovely weekend here , room amazing and facilities great . Breakfast was huge and gorgeous . Staff friendly and even managed to find a ring and return it to me , I can’t praise this place enough . It’s an absolute gem .

A good place to stay - nice rooms, clean, modern and warm. Neil does a wonderful, tasty breakfast - cooked & served fresh. Piping hot, good ingredients & plenty of it. Definitely a place to stay in Robin Hoods Bay.

We were lucky to get booked, we had heard it was a very popular place to eat. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and very generous portion size. I started with Tempura Tiger Prawns which were very fresh tasting. My husband chose Camembert which again was delicious. I ordered Sea Bass and my husband Chicken breast fillet, they both were amazing. The Spiced Rum and toffee sundae was really out of this world. We were very full but just had to have a dessert. which again were wonderful. Would definitely recommend this Bistro

We’ve just had a meal at the Wayfarers Bistro. Wonderful friendly and professional staff. The scallops were absolutely beautiful! The seafood linguine was gorgeous. The Sauvignon blanc was perfect. We pre booked for my parents wedding anniversary for a party of 7 for three courses. The menu was really impressive and creative, but very limited vegetarian options (one). Our daughter is very picky and the staff agreed to make her plain pasta and were really nice about it - giving her some extra garlic bread. The food was exceptional, most of us got different dishes and every one was outstanding. Portion sizes were good. Thé staff were really friendly and happy to take photos or answer questions.

Booked in early on a Friday evening and most tables were already taken. This is a smart place with a relaxing atmosphere. Let me say now before I forget, the owner has a similar taste in music to myself, some great tunes, I'd forgotten how good 'Find the River' by REM actually is! Service was friendly and efficient. I had the seafood linguine, absolutely delicious. I shared a bottle of Red with one of my friends and it was excellent and very reasonably priced. Our dining out highlight of the week.

The wayfarer serves very good fresh fish dishes in a nice restaurant run by friendly staff. We ate fresh Crab and Cod, accompanied by a good wine from their wine list.

Ambience wonderful, waiting staff superb, food out of this world. An absolute gem. Been returning here since I discovered three years ago, never fails to hit the heights. Accommodation also top notch and the breakfasts prepared by Neil, well I’ve not had better anywhere.

We booked to eat for the first sitting on the Saturday evening of our weekend visit. The welcome was friendly and we were seated promptly. We chose mussels and scallops to start with and found both dishes to be tasty and perfectly cooked. For mains we opted for the cod and crab crumble and the monkfish & prawns from the specials board. Again both were perfectly cooked, although I found the monkfish & prawn dish to be a bit too sweet for my taste. Service was attentive throughout. Food was excellent quality. It is a shame that they don't offer 1 or 2 real ales by the bottle, as an alternative to lager though.

We had dinner on a Saturday night. The service was great, the food was excellent, and the music didn't disappoint. We weren't sure which wine to go for and were very happy with the recommendation we were given. We would have gone back again during our stay but unfortunately they aren't open at the early part of the week. We will definitely look to revisit next time we are in the area.

Couldn’t fault it. The food was excellent both nights we ate there, so much so that we intend to return for more!!!!! The staff were extremely helpful over menu choices for my wife whose gluten free and it was just a pleasure to dine here

We ate in the bistro on Saturday during a two night stay, really good food, you are advised to book well in advance, we saw many people turned away on the night, it was very busy but the staff are very attentive, excellent menu, reasonable prices and a good selection of wines.

We booked on the 12th May to eat on 20th at 18.30 as it was BUSY. We were 4 and from arrival to departure we had a very enjoyable evening. The staff were lovely and the food was excellent and served promptly without being rushed. We ate fish, seafood, steak, chicken, and desserts - all delicious. We would recommend this restaurant and would defo visit again - booking recommended.

This restaurant is a must for anyone wishing to eat fresh, first-class cuisine. I had scallops for starter and my husband had lobster and they were both amazing. For mains my husband had seabass and I had monkfish and prawn in a coconut, chill and lemongrass sauce and it was stunning. Summer fruit crumble for me for desert an sticky toffee pudding for my husband and they were both delicious. All finished off with a tia maria coffee. I could eat here every night. Compliments to the chef. The staff were friendly and very efficient. All had gloves and masks and there was sanitiser at the door for you to use on arrival and on leaving. I have been here before and will definitely be going again. You must book as this restaurant does get very busy.

This is an absolute gem of a restaurant offering first class cuisine. Certainly not your normal pub grub and a lovely experience. You do pay a bit more but it is well worth it with a varied menu but we do recommend the fish. A must try venue if you are in the area.

We had a great meal at the Wayfarers restaurant when we stayed in Robin Hoods Bay recently. It was a Sunday evening and there was a special menu which included a bottle of wine with two main courses, mostly fish dishes. I had monkfish and my partner had sea bass - both were gorgeous! Well worth another visit next time we are in the area!

My hubby took me to this restaurant for my birthday and it was lovely. Very well organised considering we still have COVID restrictions. We were well looked after from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Each course we had was delicious, great choice on the menu, great wine list and great service (and I loved the angel! ❤️). Next time we visit Robin Hood’s Bay, we’ll be back!

Best food in the Bay. Wonderfully tasty and varied menu in lush surroundings with friendly service and the beautiful Bay surroundings.

This is the second time I have eaten here-last time a couple of years ago. Very different now in July 2020.However, food and service just as good. There was plenty of food-just wish I’d had space for a dessert! Felt comfortable eating there- it was our first time since the lifting of lockdown. Enjoy but do remember they are open Thursday to Sunday and book in advance.

Amazing place, amazing food, amazing staff. We couldn’t get a table inside on Sunday night but the lovely staff set us up outside and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We loved it so much we’ve added an extra night on to our September trip to Whitby so we can eat here again for my husband’s birthday we are also staying with them for one night. If ever you’re in Robinhood bay eat here you will not be disappointed. Roll on September.

Our annual pilgrimage to celebrate our wedding anniversary with dinner at the superb venue that is the Wayfarer Bistro.The current difficult situation has been dealt with very professionally and created an atmosphere as near normal as possible with dedicated staff working hard in PPE to maintain a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere and are to be commended for their fortitude.The quality of the food is still to be savoured and generous portions at very reasonable prices, thanks so much.

An absolute must if you stay in RHB. Just been here tonight. The food is absolutely outstanding. Best meal we’ve had for a long time. Sea bass and steak both excellent and good value for money. There is a special offer on on Sundays. But regardless , this restaurant is not to be missed. Also the best chocolate brownie I have ever had. Thank you for a lovely meal.

All four of us had a very good experience here. The food was good with large portions. Service was spot on and friendly. We booked before going which was just as well because it looked full booked. Our friends stayed here and said the room and breakfast was very good too.

We enjoyed the special fixed price Sunday night meal. It was good value and the dishes were lovely. Service good too. The restaurant was nearly full so if you go, plan to make a reservation. Affordable and good quality.

Visited on a Sunday evening and had the Sunday evening menu, 3 of us had fillet steak (one of the best steaks we have ever had) and 2 had fish and crab crumble and was delicious, menu price included bottle of house wine per couple or 2 drinks of your choice. Raspberry and whites chocolate cheesecake and the trio of sweets to follow , again absolutely delicious, so if you ever visit Robin Hood’s Bay, visit this place and make sure you book early, absolutely fault free.

Got recommended this place by a local and wasn’t disappointed. The food is reasonably priced & was well cooked. We had a sharing platter to start with & then two rump steaks. There was plenty to eat and we left full. Had no room for desert but other diners who did have deserts whilst we were their looked good. Well worth a visit. I would recommend booking a table if visiting on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Visited this restaurant a couple of times on our stay in Robin Hoods Bay. Both on a Sunday evening. Not sure about the rest of the week but the Sunday night fayre is cracking. Excellent choice of dishes, that once you have chosen your main course, all the food comes to the table as a sort of mezze, a wide range of accompanying dishes. Tomato and onion salad potato salad etc. Although it is only the main course we did not require a dessert. And the meal comes with a complimentary bottle of wine, the Rioja was lovely and we had it on both nights. A lovely environment, pleasant with good atmosphere, lovely attentive staff. All in all an excellent choice. Exceptional value at £45 for two persons. An offer not to be missed. Book early to avoid dissapointment.

Visited here for a celebratory anniversary meal . It was steak and bake night. First courses were delicious ......lamb shank and monkfish with prawns but sadly we then became invisible. The table was cleared promptly but no one came to inquire if we would like to order deserts or coffee. It seems the waitress was too busy chatting to friends and the manager was captivated by his mobile phone! Made a rather disappointing end to our evening. A great shame as it had all started so well.
