Restaurant 22

West Chesterton, Cambridge, 60-100£
18/04/2020: Staff were attentive, polite, knowledgeable. Food was out of this world. A great birthday treat. Would highly recommend
08/03/2020: We visited here last night with friends and had the most amazing meal. We chose the 7 course taster menu. My dietary requirements are a little challenging but the chef accommodated me with a delicious individual menu. Two of our party chose the wine flight which provided unusual but extremely complimentary accompaniments to the food. The staff are very attentive but not intrusive. It was a real treat!! Thank you to all the staff especially the chef at restaurant 22.

Rocking Horse Cafe & Gallery

Longhoughton, Northumberland
11/06/2020: We took our mother in law out here when going for a run up the coast. A great little cafe with such friendly owners. Had cakes and scones with our coffees which were delicious. Hope to see you again soon.
20/03/2020: We were in the area and had heard good things about the Rocking Horse Cafe.Very friendly - welcomed by Andrew who looked after us and our two dogs.Breakfast stotties were outstanding - we enjoyed the chat and the food.Cafe was a bit quiet due to the coronavirus problem but this didn't detract from us enjoying our visit. Places like this deserve your support so if you are in the area you should make a point of visiting.

Clerkenwell, Islington, 20-30£
16/03/2020: 8 of us went here for my birthday lunch and was so impressed by the staff and the food. I'm a Coeliac and to be able to eat such delicious gluten free food (and it was AMAZING, especially the parmesan doughnuts!) is such a treat (ALL the food is GF). The 2 staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and attentive and even made my (somewhat wild!) 3 year old very welcome and also provided both children with colouring pencils and drawing sheets. In addition, they were SO careful with hygiene - welcoming us and offering us hand sanitiser on the way in and out (!) and being very careful with everything. This is the last time we will see my elderly parents because of the threat of C-19 and the whole experience cheered us up immensely on such a sombre day.
08/03/2020: Having passed this restaurant many times on my way too and from my Sadler’s Wells (just seconds walk away), I now know what I have been missing. - superb food and excellent warm friendly service. I ok forward to eating there again soon.

The Masons Arms Inn

South Molton, North Devon
13/03/2020: Thank you for a great evening. From the moment you step inside to the moment you leave everything was amazing. Great attention to details. Food was exceptional.
11/03/2020: Thank you all so so much for all you're hard work! You attended to us all so so well. Not easy when their was 8 of us in one setting. You made us all feel welcome. And we know how hard big parties can be!! All of us had an amazing evening. Still chatting about our lovely food! Of course we shall be back! How lucky we are to have a great restraunt on our doorstep. You're whole team do an amazing job.

Henry & Joe's

Victoria, West Berkshire
12/03/2020: Lovely mix of top class food: excellent & unique flavour combinations, all ingredients perfectly cooked, in all 3 courses (& the bread) what more could you want. Oh yes - wonderful G&T too. :-) Down to earth, friendly, welcoming top class service: lovely environment & presentation, Joe very welcoming, informative, attentive but not intrusive - lovely touches like guessing the flavour of the small jellies with the bill. All round excellence.
07/03/2020: Myself and my husband returned to Henry & Joe's last night to celebrate our anniversary. Without doubt our favourite restaurant. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere is very relaxing, warm and homely. If you are looking for amazing food (packed full of layers of flavour), great wine and top service then I would highly recommend coming here. We are looking forward to returning very soon!

Steam Bistro

Coniston and Crake Valley, South Lakeland
14/03/2020: Fantastic food with super service.both our starters ,pulled pork and stir fried duck with noodles were excellent.the mains of blade of beef and s african boboti were very tasty and filling.shared a local cheese board again a super selection.lorna who served us was friendly helpful and knowledgeable and made sure the cold red wine I arrived with was brought to temperature!bring your own helps with cost as it’s unlicensed.Music was definitely not to our taste though or Lorna’s!Definitely worth a visit
13/03/2020: Went last Saturday with 4 friends, we were booked in for 6.15pm so thought that there would be two sittings and be on a time limit, but no, they stagger the tables in order to provide the most delicious food and great service to everyone. We all had the 3 courses and we all loved each dish we had. Really couldn't fault the food at all! The restaurant isnt licensed so bring your own alcohol which was brilliant. The ambiance is wonderful, lovely and cosy without geing squashed. Great service and fantastic food, what more could you want! If I'm in Coniston again I will most definitely be back!!

St Peter's Coffee Shop

Marlborough West, Wiltshire, <20£
13/03/2020: Our first time of visiting recommend by the friends who we were with. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will recommend to other people we will be back.
13/03/2020: I often visit the coffee shop in St Peter's church, they do a lot of food as well as many different coffees, teas, cold drinks etc. Everytime I have been the service has been impeccable, especially from one of the waitresses called Wendy, nothing is a problem, she always has a smile on her face, A1 member of the team. The majority of the staff are lovely, and very helpful, if only all coffee shops staff were the same. I heard a lady complain because there was no tables free, is this the fault of the staff or owners, what did she want, a table to be cleared just for her. A full coffee shop shows a very good coffee shop....surely, if it was empty, you would question why? I recommend this cafe to anyone, great selection of food and drinks including, cold food, sandwiches to hot dinners , smaller portions are available as well as, children's, gluten free, vegans and vegetarians. Most probably the best place to go to in Marlborough. Give it a try you won't be disappointed. A great big well done to Debbie and David the owners and all the staff.

A Tavola

Reddish South, Stockport
28/06/2020: Friday 26th june we had a take away, 3 different slab pizzas which were amazing and 2 a Ariccini beef ragu and Sicilian and Stilton sausage which were excellent. I have used this restaurant before the pandemic and as a takeaway since, the service and quality of food is quite outstanding especially under the circumstances. Thank you for the wonderful food, can't wait to be able to come and eat in the restaurant again as the atmosphere is amazing ! Recomend it highly !!!!
15/06/2020: Very small, family owned neighbourhood Sicilian restaurant with a rustic, unpretentious ambience. Menu is expansive and includes many Sicilian classics. Good line in meat and the menu allows chicken, meat, Italian sausage etc served any of four different ways. Must have a homemade cannoli to finish. Had a great bottle of wine on the last visit (see photo). Owner very welcoming and warm, happy to talk through the menu. Not cheap but fairly priced for quality and portion sizes.

Brizola Bar and Grill

Littlemoor, Ribble Valley
21/03/2020: Returned to Brizola to see Rachel and the team to celebrate my birthday with friends. Yet again Brizola didn’t disappoint ! We all loved everything, from the delicious starters which we shared as “Greek Tapas” to the mains which we devoured and washed down with great beers and wines. I know the uncertain times ahead are going to be very challenging for Brizola but I understand they may be doing take away food and we’ll be supporting this and would encourage anyone else reading this to try to do the same if your able to. I wish Rachel and the team all the best at this time.
20/03/2020: Due to current "circumstances", they're operatng as a take away only. The food is just as great and I can't praise it enough. If you've ever enjoyed the food, get yourself down there to support the team.

La Dolce Vita

Quarry and Coton Hill, Shropshire, 30-45£
24/03/2020: I had to come back following my last visit! Everything about this place is just so special you step into la dolce vita and you forget where you are! The food and the service just takes you back to Italy!Again i went for the set menu, the courses are a perfect size and the taste well you just have to see that for yourself and i can assure you that you wont be disappointed.Thank you for the lovelly evening again.I will be straight back when i get the chance!Thank you
19/03/2020: I never usually write reviews (or take photos of my food) but this food was so good I have to share it, you HAVE to visit. Visited yesterday (18th March), we have lived in Shrewsbury the whole time this restaurant has been open but for some reason we have never visited. What a mistake that is, the food and service was amazing. Complimentary salt and vinegar nuts (which they should sell by the bag) and a cheese dough ball, carpaccio, crostini with a mixture of toppings, cod loin and lamb rump washed down with a couple of beers and a lovely house white wine. My husband commented that its the best lamb he had ever tasted. We will definitely be visiting more often, need to support local businesses at this testing time.

Edie's Kitchen

St Austell Bay, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
21/06/2020: This is such a treat once a week for me, to have someone else plan, source and cook a meal where I know that everything will be so delicious. It really is cooking just like you might do at home if only you had the skill, patience and motivation. We have tried the Friday/Saturday menu and the Sunday lunch and I couldn't fault anything. Last night it was a double baked Applewood cheese soufflé with a leek reduction, slow roast collar of pork with dauphinoise potato and an apricot and pine nut stuffing followed by the most divine chocolate and orange cheesecake with clotted cream and, wait for it, white chocolate sauce. Scrumptious!I do hope that they will be able to get their restaurant up and running again soon. They so deserve to do well.
20/06/2020: Picked up my dinner for takeaway (Covid guidelines currently) and the food was absolutely flawless in every way. The ingredients and technique are of fine dining quality, but with that added 'something' that you only get when cooked with personality and heart. Was my first time and will not be my last :) NB: photos are my own plating at home! Am sure the food would look much more beautiful and delicious in restaurant.

Bens Crib Box Cafe

Padstow, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
03/06/2020: Bacon and egg bap plus a fantastic latte. Highly recommended with social distancing in place and such friendly service
23/05/2020: Hurrah, Ben's back! Just had a delicious toasty. Great to have a breakfast choice again! Thank you, Amy and Ben!

St Helena

Elstow, Bedford, 45-60£
15/03/2020: Two special birthdays, not been to this restaurant before but heard a lot about it.Plenty of parking., lovely garden and made to feel welcome as soon as we walked inside. Very good choice of menu, good service and food delicious. Could not fault it. Delightful slate with Happy Birthday on it in icing for the two of us having special birthdays. It was raining when we came to leave and the owner escorted us to the the car with a brolly so we did not get wet and presented us with a bottle of wine to enjoy when we got home. A really delightful experience, excellent food and very caring owner. We shall return.
12/03/2020: My wife and I went to celebrate our 16th engagement anniversary a few weeks ago. My wife was really looking forward to it because she remembered going as a child and how beautiful everything was. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations. The location is beautiful but the statues as you enter are a reflection of the slave trade of years passed, which I think is in very poor taste. I am not sure if they are aware of that though. It was a Friday night and was very busy with very little room to move between tables. Fortunately, we were put down the side part at the rear of the restaurant which meant it was very quiet and intimate. We felt the menu selection was dated compared to other restaurants at this price range but they did have the right amount of meal options. The wine menu was limited and it would have helped to give a brief description of the flavour of the wine so you could choose which would be best suited for your meal. The service however was excellent. The timing of each course perfect and I can't fault the presentation of each dish.Unfortunately, there was no 'wow factor' when it came to the taste of each dish and my wife had to leave the table urgently before finishing her coffee because she became poorly very quickly.Maybe our expectations were too high but the quality of the food didn't meet or expectations. Which was a real shame.

The Makars Rest

City Centre, Edinburgh, City of, 30-45£
01/05/2020: We saw the reviews and thought we would take a trip here during our short break in Edinburgh. The food was so good we ended up eating here 3 times in 5 days!We enjoyed everything we ordered and the service from Sasha, Kirstie and others was excellent. It's close to the royal mile and castle and definitely worth a visit for lunch or dinner.Next time I'm in Edinburgh I will certainly be eating there again, probably more than once.
30/04/2020: We stopped by for a late lunch and they were able to accommodate our group of 9. We enjoyed one of their chicken mashes and their haggis appetizer. They don't have a children's menu, but can make most of their mashes kid sized. It didn't work for our picky American kid, but great option if you don't have a picky eater.

Small World Tapas

Tormohun, Torbay
29/03/2020: This is our favourite restaurant in Torquay and we enjoyed a recent visit to celebrate my husbands birthday. Food was amazing as always - we shared 4 tapas, each one so different. The croquettes remain our favourite, a must have dish.
15/03/2020: Great food great atmosphere great service do I need to say more we had a lovely evening tapas and great wine
