City Centre, Edinburgh, City of
29/11/2020: The whole experience is amazing from the attentive waiters who couldn’t do enough to look after us to the food which was to die for. Beautifully presented together with a delightful selection. Dont understand why people rate this less than a 4 - guess there are some people who are never happy and are basically sad. This has to be among the top 10 venues for afternoon tea in the UK - keep up the great service and food, we are already booked to come back
15/11/2020: Just back from afternoon tea.We had a voucher for champagne afternoon tea,not being able to serve alcohol at the moment,we were offered options of non alcoholic drinks, which were lovely. They even gave my wife tea to take away. The food was great, the chef was at the top of his/her game and the servers were on the ball.Only reason it’s wasn’t a 5 review was because the sandwiches weren’t outstanding like the rest, but that was probably us being picky.

Exmouth Town, East Devon, 20-30£
23/12/2020: Just back from a wonderful meal at Saveur. Every mouthful was delicious. The restaurant was totally Covid secure. Very good service and a lovely festive atmosphere.
23/12/2020: We were away for a night and found Saveur by chance. Felt COVID safe and made to feel welcome as soon as we stepped through the door. The food was superb and the service faultless. I can’t stand cooked carrots but loved them here, so much flavour and care taken. Fantastic cheeseboard which we washed down with a great bottle of Chateau Musar Jeunne. We’ll be back next time we’re in exmouth

Old Vienna Restaurant

Wellswood, Torbay
13/12/2020: Our second visit here, lovely friendly restaurant, great service and really wonderful food, we will return.
26/11/2020: Thank you Werner for yet another delicious meal. Cooked to perfection as always. Chris and Mike. Usually we are predictable menu wise, but since we have moved and u are just over the road from us, our weekly takeaway is a menu adventure. BW.

The Whole Hog

Lyme Regis, West Dorset
28/12/2020: We'd wanted to eat at The Whole Hog for a while and finally got the chance yesterday. We had the pork bap with succulent pulled pork, stuffing, gravy, apple sauce, and crackling. We've never tasted anything like it. Absolutely stunning, so tasty. We also had a coffee and the latte was the most flavoursome latte ever. Totally recommended. They take card payments as well as cash and they were so friendly.
23/12/2020: My wife says that their vegan doughnuts are the best in the world! So, go check them out guys when you come next for a visit to the pearl of Dorset. Simon&Sarah.

The Queen Victoria Pub

Maldon North, Maldon, <20£
24/12/2020: Fabulous customer service, tasty food, and proper safety precautions followed religiously.
17/12/2020: Went for Christmas Dinner for our akimbo group. We were checked in by a member of staff ensuring sanitiser was used and distancing was observed. Our group was split between two tables and enjoyed an excellent meal, served piping hot meals in their marquee. The sides were raised by heaters Leroy us cozy. Safe as houses. Thank you

Menu Gordon Jones

Lyncombe, Bath and North East Somerset, 45-60£
24/12/2020: On arrival we were welcomed and immediately felt at home.Since moving near to the Bath area and visiting several restaurants, this is by far the best in the area. There isn't one thing negative to say, everything was perfectly cookect and yes a 'surprise'.The staff and Gordon simply brilliant. My only recommendation is that you make sure you call months in advance, our three month wait was way worth it and we have requested I'd there is ever a cancellation just let us know and we will cancel whatever plans we have to get in here and have another meal.Thank you guys for a wonderful lunch, have a Merry Christmas and we look forward to our next visit.
19/12/2020: We have visited here before and again cannot fault the food or the service. The atmosphere is great Amelia and Gordon are superb hosts. If you are looking to celebrate a special occasion then and enjoy delicious food then you won’t be disappointed can’t wait to go back.

Verveine Fishmarket Restaurant

Milford, New Forest, 45-60£
10/12/2020: We had a very warm welcome from Sally and were shown to our table for 2, on the upper level, directly opposite the kitchen. Unlike the local Lymington man who complained about his table in the same position, we were very happy with it. When time allowed David included us into his conversation and answered questions, in a very genial manner. It was like sitting in a friend's kitchen while they prepared a meal, just drinking and chatting between courses. If only our friends could cook like David and his team!We both chose the 6 course tasting menu, with mine paired with a variety of lovely wines. What a treat for our eyes and taste buds. Even before the first course there was a quirky amuse-bouche, looking like a raw egg in an egg cup, which in fact was a mango creation. Followed by the lightest waffles ever, sprinkled with crispy onions, delicious. The 6 courses were brilliant, hard to choose a favourite, but will go for the most silky satay sauce served with???? and ??? fruit. My wife had 2 desserts and myself one. Once she tasted the first spoonful of liquorice ice cream, her reaction was almost a recreation of the famous Meg Ryan scene in When Harry met Sally. We would highly recommend choosing Verveine, not only for its sublime food, but the relaxed outstanding atmosphere and excellent service. My only slightly selfish suggestion, would be to have a small basket of artisan bread on each table, this would allow me and other customers to mop up every drop of those exceptional sauces.
04/12/2020: This is by far the best restaurant experience we have ever had. Everything was exceptional, the food was beyond exceptional and the sense of theatre was amazing. I can not rate this highly enough, we opted for the 6 course blind tasting menu and it exceeded every expectation. This place is one of those rare beasts, somewhere that not only deserves its excellent reviews but is actually better.

Lansdown, Cheltenham
19/12/2020: We visited midweek for dinner. As usual the food was delightful. I went for the Lamb meets the wolf starter - lamb c 10 ways absolutely fabulous and followed it with the rabbit and mustard source again lovely. My wife went with the Xmas foxes price menu and loved it. Service is prompt but not overbearing. Always a pleasure to come back!
13/12/2020: Have wanted to come here for a while and yesterday had dinner at L'Artisan. The service is excellent, it is an authentic French experience with lots of nice touches such as the delicious bread and amuse bouche. The fillet steak was absolutely outstanding (amazing garlic sauce too) and the raspberry horse-choux to finish was a great dessert. We look forward to coming back and ordering the same again.

Volare restaurant

St. Martins, Caerphilly
24/12/2020: We had an amazing Christmas Eve takeaway lunch from our favourite Caerphilly restaurant Volare today. As usual, food cooked to perfection and service with a smile😀. Hope to see you soon in the restaurant in 2021. Buon Natale to you all x
17/12/2020: We visited on a friday lunchtime and were seated towards the back of restaurant. The service was pretty slow, waiting some time before being asked for our drinks order. Food was delish and lived up to its reputation. Unfortunately the whole experience was undermined by a large group of women at an adjacent table, clearly not social distancing, being v loud, inappropriate and not caring about their impact on anyone else in the restaurant. Luckily they left around 2pm to pick their kids up from school (the whole restaurant no doubt aware of this fact due to the loud announcements by a number of them). Noticed another couple clearly feeling as we did. Sad that Staff did not intervene at any point to either ask them to lower voices or attempt to be socially distant. Not sure if we would return here again, as our last experience at Casa Mia was so very good by comparison.

Sotto Sotto

Abbey, Bath and North East Somerset
30/12/2020: We had a fabulous evening at this gem of a restaurant. We were greeted so warmly in a truly beautiful restaurant. The food was lovely and great cocktails. It was good value for money Thank you so much. We will be back.
29/12/2020: We went for our wedding anniversary just as the first lockdown ended and restaurants were able to open. The food was good but the service was even better.

No 3 Restaurant & Bar

Ross-on-Wye East, Herefordshire, County of
11/12/2020: Simply superb! We have now eaten here on two different occasions now and both times the food has been excellent, and the service wonderful. We are extremely lucky to have a restaurant of such high caliber on our doorstep-well done Number 3 keep it going!
10/12/2020: We visit this lovely restaurant every so often and have never been disappointed. The menu is imaginative with great choices. The cooking has always been excellent. The venison pie was exceptional. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is a joy to eat there. Also we felt very safe with the Covid precautions of plastic screens. Thank you No 3.

Edie's Kitchen

St Austell Bay, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
04/11/2020: We dropped into the area for a weekend break and were recommended this restaurant. Located at the end of a small, understated parade of shops we may easily have walked past if we hadn't already booked and what a mistake that would have been. Service excellent but the food was amazing and really made our day. Delicious oxtail starter which I never wanted to end. Fish cooked to perfection and each plate was simply excellent in its simplicity and combination of flavours. It was food that puts a smile on your face - already planning to go back next year.
04/11/2020: We spent a very pleasant lunchtime at this restaurant. The service was excellent, the staff were very amenable and the food we had was fabulous. We had the vegetarian menu which had flare and imagination, this is such a change. If anyone wants a very enjoyable brunch, lunch or dinner don’t hesitate to try Edie’s.

Black Swan Leyburn

Leyburn, Richmondshire
31/12/2020: The service offered by John and Darryl was superb with food and drinks served in a timely manner. They even took a little time out to chat. All of the food was exceptional. Well cooked, well presented and very tasty. The portion sizes are very generous but we managed to complete the meal - just! This place is so good, I would probably dine in The Black Swan at Leyburn every week if I lived locally!
29/12/2020: Wow! What an amazing visit to this gorgeous little place. A lovely welcome and service from John. Some of the best food we have ever been served. Highly recommend the steak pie, best pie we have ever had! Would definitely recommend and we will be back, thank you!

The Old Stamp House Restaurant

Ambleside and Grasmere, South Lakeland, 45-60£
31/12/2020: Incredible food Menu was so good Definitely do the wine pairing Staff are great So very glad we came
30/12/2020: We've dined at a lot of Michelin places. We've been to absolute classics like Le Gavroche, Pur & Grosvenor. To new world like L'enclume, Northcote and The Fat Duck. Also over-hyped like Marcus in Knightsbridge and Librije's Zusje in Amsterdam.... Whilst not bragging it's given us a great idea of "what to expect" when you enter places like this.Take all of the past experience and throw it away, The Old Stamp House rightly throws out the rule book when it comes to the standard 'pomp' associated with enjoying food at this level. When you're in this area the likelihood is you've exhausted yourself walking everywhere for hours so you just want a nice environment in comfy clothes and great surroundings - The Stamp House offers that at its simplest level. Now let's talk food.... Me and my wife decided to go pescatarian as throughout lockdown we'd avoided meat. We let the restaurant know in advance so Ryan had changed the menu just for us. At the end of it he said he was really excited about changing it up for us - that the Turbot he cooked was line caught and humanely Iki Jime killed that day.He made us a mushroom dish and my wife complemented it saying how fresh it was. He then beamed with pride and told us the story of how he went on a ramble in the morning and how normally where he foraged the mushrooms at this time of year had gone, but he then stumbled on a little overgrown patch and found all of those for the dish.It really was special, and we will be back - with friends - in February.Continued success for Ryan and the team.

Fresher's Cafe

Ambleside and Grasmere, South Lakeland
17/12/2020: Lovely family run cafe, had a delicious Chocolate Fudge Cake with Ice Cream and a coffee. Recommend to all was lovely. Mum and son are very friendly and chatty. Will definitely visit when next in Ambleside
05/12/2020: The first weekend after the release of lockdown 2 we really hankered after Lakeland Fell views and proper human interaction. We’d been out walking all morning and landed in Ambleside; staff at Freshers were friendly, attentive and totally engaged. Absolute pleasure to try their just cooked quiche lorraine and soup of the day before heading back out to walk back to Troutbeck. Loved every moment of our pitstop here. Well done Freshers. You’re a proper antidote to all of the many Covid blues
