Hathersage Social Club

Hathersage and Eyam, Derbyshire Dales
19/06/2018: Brunch, lunch or a private dinner, the Social Club is a great place to meet friends, enjoy good food and have a wonderful time. The word has got round so it's probably best to book rather than be disappointed. Probably the best 'eatery' in the Hope Valley.
17/06/2018: We had Sunday lunch here today and it was fantastic. Lovely atmosphere with great food and friendly efficient staff. Dogs welcome

Huis

St Thomas, Portsmouth
17/06/2018: We got there at 12.00. Most tables were prebooked as it was fathers day.. The only not booked table we sat at. While we were sat there our table was booked. So they asked us to move. Why?, we were spending money. We moved to...
10/06/2018: I’ve visited this restaurant a number of times now & I just cannot find anything to moan about, well maybe one, in that they had no cheese Krocken otherwise it’s still a favourite. I love Belgian beers & this place has it in spades, so many to choose from both on draft & in bottle, in fact there’s one on draft that I avoid as when I start drinking it I can’t stop, KWAK, it’s an innocuous little number which is served in a round bottom glass which you need a wooden stand to put it on as it won’t stand alone, beautiful dark amber colour with a great honey flavoured finish but @ 8.5% it’s just not the drink to quaff in any quantities but if you start it’s hard to stop!

Kaffeehaus Amadeus

Lanchester, County Durham, <20£
19/06/2018: Warm, friendly atmosphere with delicious food and coffee. Well worth a visit. Coffee brewing and recitals on regularly.
18/06/2018: Tried this sometime ago. Sandwich was good, although not too big. Cake lovely and coffee exceptional. Only problem was parking. It's on a main road , gas limited seating inside but some outside, we had park round the corner next to houses.

20/02/2018: This easy to miss little café tucked away in Pembroke Street is a great place for a coffee. The atmosphere is quirky with jokes on the mirrors and amusing comments on the walls. It is colourful and friendly and the service is quick. You perch...

04/06/2018: Fui con mi amigo alemán en un sábado. Así que no es muy concurrida. Tienen bastantes selección de la cerveza alemana, que creo que es realmente agradable y fácil de beber.
28/05/2018: I visited Bierschenke for a work event. This is a lovely but lively big beer hall, with tons of seating, space and screens. The food was quality and went down really well with me and my colleagues.

Stein Garten

Bargate, Southampton, 20-30£
18/06/2018: Went in on Sunday for Fathers Day, with the whole family me and my wife, two kids and my parents) Staff were friendly and literally couldn’t do enough for us. Wife has a food allergy and they were attentive and very helpful. Food portions were big, food was very, very tasty and service prompt. And what’s more the bill was less than £20 a head for food and drinks, so value for money was excellent! Will definitely be visiting again, to work our way though the menu!
16/06/2018: Very friendly staff and an amazing food. We popped in with my friend for quick food. We ordered the sausage platter with schnitzel. It was really tasty. Really recommend this place.

The German Cafe

Shirley East, Solihull
10/05/2018: We’ve lived in Shirley for a few years now but only visited the German Cafe in recent months and I’m so disappointed that we didn’t discover it earlier! We’ve been for breakfast a few times and had lunch outside recently on a sunny day. The food is lovely, good portions and quality ingredients. Highly recommended!
19/02/2018: I have visited this place a number of times over the years every time I'm local I have lunch. Great coffee, fantastic lunch menu, atmosphere is excellent backed up by brilliant quick service. A gem which the locals should be proud of.

Bierkeller

Ancoats and Clayton, Manchester
18/06/2018: We pre booked the silver package for a stag do on Saturday 16th June and was very glad we did. We had a great welcome from the door team, were shown to our table and had 8 steins, 8 shots and pretzels brought over to us. Once the comedy Umpah band came on the atmosphere in the venue was totally electric. Great crowd participation, along with good beer, energetic showmen and live music makes for an amazing party atmosphere. Once the band finished the DJ set started and that continued with the same atmosphere from the band, great cheesy party songs to get everyone dancing on the benches. Would definitely recommend!
17/06/2018: Not for families. We had a 6 month baby on our group and after arriving around 6pm to watch a worldcup match head of security approaches and says we have to leave by 7pm or he will drag us out - his actual words. We felt really intimidated and attacked for no reason as laws states children are allowed up until 9pm. Please note the place was empty, with only our table and another one beside, who btw, were outraged by the security behaviour and left the place just after us. We will never go there again and DO NOT ADVISE you to. We are also writing to the correct authorities such as consumer and human rights, city council to report bad practices and racism. The head of security was a total bigot.

Stein's

Twickenham Riverside, Richmond upon Thames, 20-30£
20/06/2018: If you are looking for large helpings of sausage and mash and German beer overlooking the Thames then this is THE place to go. Trestle tables and speedy service .
03/06/2018: Walking along the river on a boiling day, seeing ice cold "steins" of beer was tempting, daft cue, you order a few drinks but must order food first, why? Anyhow, order the cheapest of sausage which was around about 5 quid, it was ok, Stein was about a 10a, good beer, pricey, but it's not like im staying here for a session, pay it and just enjoy the experience.

Bavarian Beerhouse Old Street

Bunhill, Islington
18/06/2018: Booked a table to watch the world cup. Where guided to the basement where they had 20-year-old TVs (one of them was in black in white - guys, seriously). Now imagine having 200 germans willing to drink but only 3 waiters for the whole floor....
18/06/2018: Delicious beers, lovely food, very German. We dropped in for lunch, and we also wanted to watch the World Cup. Standout were the staff - super friendly and cheerful.

Bavarian Beerhouse Tower Hill

Aldgate,Billingsgate,Bishopsgate,Bridge,Broad Street,Candlewick,Cornhill,Langbourn,Lime Street,Portsoken,Tower, City of London,Westminster
18/06/2018: We had booked a table at this venue to watch the German worldcup match. Pretty soon it became clear that the venue was desperately short staffed. Although the waitress serving our table did her very best and was friendly throughout, it took her more than 30 minutes to get to our table to take our orders. As I am a celiac, i asked for the gluten free menu or any other gluten free options. To my very surprise, the guy who was referred to as the manager simply told me in a really unpleasant way that there were no gluten free options at all. I have never heard that sentence before in my time in London and also never experienced such a unwillingness to provide any kind of service.
17/06/2018: Booked a table for 4 for the 1st German Worldcup match. When we arrived the table had already been taken. OK, they managed to reshuffle the people and all was good. Ordered drinks and food. Wrong drinks. OK again, they changed them quickly. Food came but salad was missing. OK yet again (I think you know where I'm going here) they managed to get the salad delivered eventually. Now to the game. They were playing some stupid music instead of the national anthems of both team. Just around kickoff they managed to switch to... yes, the BBC and English. They used to show the German version in the past but apparently no more. Anyway, you could hardly hear it anyway... I've been here many times but this was most likely the last time as the service has deteriorated over the years. Thank God there are many other German pubs in London with significantly better service.
