22/08/2019: Read about this place and so took the opportunity when we were in the Peaks. Food was delicious, and portions ample. Lots of interesting flavours. Salads will fill you up. Cheery atmosphere and friendly staff.

St Thomas, Portsmouth
12/09/2019: Huis drog ögat åt sig bland flera pubar och restauranger; personalen flyttade på alla för att vårt sällskap om 6 skulle få plats tillsammans! God mat, bra service, trevlig personal!
07/09/2019: Having won this prize through Facebook, I was contacted by a member of staff to see when I would like to book for, and they had no problem accomodating me and my partner on a Friday evening.

The German Cafe

Shirley East, Solihull
13/08/2019: Looking for a German Restaurant in Birmingham failed miserably but we were not disappointed with the German Cafe. Although a relatively small room, we were welcomed and seated by a pleasant waitress. Drinks order taken and later choice of food. We each chose a different schnitzel and were very satisfied with our choice. Quality of the schnitzel and flavours were authentic and tasty. Ambiance also good.
29/07/2019: My third or fourth visit. Very friendly owner, always delivers excellent food. Good ingredients, perfectly cooked, plenty of them. Quirky but pristine decor: deer pictures, plushies, models, abound. I haven't yet asked why, but will do so on the next trip.

Trockel, Ulmann & Freunde

Market, Cambridge

Grove, Kingston upon Thames
08/09/2019: We booked with a couple of friends for a birthday celebration. Great location, lovely food, tasty 'giant' beers and most importantly charming staff. Would highly recommend.
05/09/2019: Great view first of all. The menu was a bit confusing but was able to order great food. Top notch beer. Friendly staff ,great services and cute waitresses 😉

Aldgate,Billingsgate,Bishopsgate,Bridge,Broad Street,Candlewick,Cornhill,Langbourn,Lime Street,Portsoken,Tower, City of London,Westminster, >100£
13/09/2019: We stopped for a beer at this unexpected German brauhaus in the heart of the City of London. It is quite a large bar, on two floors, and there is attention to reproducing the atmosphere of a Munich brewery, down to the dressing code of the staff; the acoustics of the hall make it very noisy and hard to have conversation (unless you have a strong, young voice) like in many local pubs. The menu is interesting, I was intrigued by the selection of sausages which I may want to go back and try. The Paulaner lager on tap we got was good, and we had bretzen with mustard to go with the bier. Prices are in line with London, £ 5.6 for a pint of lager and £ 1.8 for a (not too big) pretzel. Interesting experience, considering that you are in London and not in Munich.
11/09/2019: What better close to the start of Oktoberfest than to visit a German beer hall for lunch? Bierschenke with its two branches both in the City of London one near Tower Bridge and this one just off London Wall nest Liverpool Street station is just one example of the recent proliferation of such places around London. The main downstairs hall looked empty this lunchtime hence beer and food was being dispensed from the smaller ground floor only. There was no waiter or waitress in sight so ordered directly at the bar a home brewed Weissbier and a Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle with a potato dumpling and sauerkraut) from a distinctly non German but probably Eastern European gentleman. In common with at least one other place in this area (see my recent review of Lady Abercorn’s Pub & Kitchen at the Andaz Hotel) I was surprised to find a service charge added to my bill before I’d actually had any. And given I was shortly given by the same barman someone else’s order of half a dozen sausages that service was not all it was cracked up to be. Indeed a waitress in Lederhosen did not materialise until after I’d finished my meal when it did arrive. The beer even though home brewed was superb. But it only served to put in sharp relief the downright stodginess of German food. The pork knuckle with crackling was fairly overwhelming in size; although I managed to finish it (just) the same could not be said of the endless rivers of sauerkraut on which it sat let alone the potato dumpling which tasted - well, rather artificial.

St Leonard's, Chesterfield
16/09/2019: Came here on Sunday night . It was very quiet which we liked and we was seated in the dining area and had two delicious pizzas and peanut butter stacks to follow . Everything was amazing and our waitress Alys made us feel very at home chatting away and couldn’t do more for us . Would highly recommend
05/09/2019: My wife and I were in Chesterfield and I asked her to look for a restaurant with good reviews, whilst I was driving. She read out reviews for Einstein’s, which were good, so we made our way there.

Kaffeehaus Amadeus

Lanchester, County Durham, <20£
23/08/2019: Visited today in the glorious sunshine. Had the weather not been as good it would've been a little cramped inside but instead we sat outside. It is the perfect place if you love your coffee, the different origins and different brewing styles. However if you just want a bog standard coffee it isn't the cheapest
17/08/2019: Called into this venue this morning for a coffee and we treated ourselves to a piece of chocolate cake with cream 👍👍 Staff very good Decor good Priced okay Plenty of free parking nearby.

Herman ze German

West End, City of London,Westminster

Stein Garten

Bargate, Southampton, 20-30£
13/09/2019: Amazing beer and a good laugh. So much German food and steins of beer, what more could you want from a night?!
06/09/2019: Great service, lovely food (I had the spicy German sausage) and good atmosphere. Adult and Child friendly and just a great dining/drinking experience all around

Twickenham Riverside, Richmond upon Thames, 20-30£
18/09/2019: Honestly. If you are familiar with bavarian food you will notice this is a JOKE within seconds. We ate here after a long pleasant walk down the river. I got menus for our table since the waiter refused to acknowledge our arrival. I ordered mini bratwursts with mashed potato and sauerkraut, which you order yourself at the till which they then bring to your table which you then have to take around the corner of the seating area to the self-serve condiments (mustard; ketchup, not sure whyt hey don't just put bottles on each table..). the sausages were literally the same as the ones you can buy from Lidl or Aldi. However, the biggest disappointment was the mashed potato which was actually Smash - dehydrated potato powder mixed with water resembling a trampled turd in both texture and appearance. I paid £13 for Smash and Lidl sausages with a 'salad garnish' that didn't even had any dressing. The best thing about this place was the cleanish toilet.
11/09/2019: Some people think it's great German food and it's nice to be sitting by the Thames. Really? In truth, it's one of the worst meals I've had in 5 years, and what you eat is not German, but fake meat sausages and meatloaf with reconstituted fillings served with frozen or dried mash potato mix. A small portion so-called German meal here costs around £16 with beer. People taste the beer, but not the food it appears. Avoid this place if you want good German food at all.

Octoberfest Pub London

Town, Hammersmith and Fulham, <20£
09/07/2019: the food was amazing and the beer as usual, but this time we had the lovely Carmela helping us to enjoy our experience even more. The beef sausages was amazing as ever.
07/07/2019: Dropped in to this pub for a couple of drinks with some mates. Was impressed with the selection of beers and the German theme. Was served by a lovely girl called heidi which kept nicely with the German theme too!

The Bierkeller - Leeds

City and Hunslet, Leeds
04/03/2019: Went to bierkeller for my sister’s hen do. The night started badly with the doorman being rude to us all outside. We were served stale pretzels and when asked for fresh ones for the table these never came. Main food was late (bratwurst and chips) which came half way through the show when we were supposed to be dancing and joining in the fun. This food was cold and poor. We were also never given sauces despite asking 3 times! We were supposed to have table service but staff were nowhere to be seen and merely rushing past our table through the night when we did see them. Just an awful experience and would never go back.
01/03/2019: Went on a Friday night hardly anyone in. No atmosphere, big difference to the last time I went. We didn’t stay long.

Katzenjammers Bierkeller & Restaurant

Cathedrals, Southwark
07/09/2019: if you want the spirit of oktoberfest to be all year round, don't miss this place! huge beer mugs, friendly staff, young crowds partying, often also live music. An extremely unique mood, young and fun!
07/08/2019: Conocí a un amigo aquí a la 1 de la tarde del domingo por la tarde, nada ocupado, lo que nos convenía hasta el suelo.

Ancoats and Clayton, Manchester
24/08/2019: Came for a pub Quiz with friends. The positives are: Good cheap beer German ambiance Friendly staff Great venue for events However the food is just inedible. Tried a variety of things all just awful.
09/08/2019: This place has NOTHING to do with ‚authentic bavarian‘!!!!
