Konak Meze

Low Harrogate, Harrogate
07/10/2020: Having missed out on travelling to Dalyan, Turkey we booked two nights in Harrogate and booked a meal at this little gem. The place is small but very clean and well presented. Our starters of grilled halloumi and calamari were just the job before we tucked into the main dishes of a seafood casserole and a melt in the mouth lamb dish.. The staff were very attentive and helpful and we will revisit this eating establishment again on our next visit to Harrogate.
07/10/2020: Went for a meal with my boyfriend while visiting Harrogate. Amazing food and extremely friendly staff. Couldn’t recommend enough, will definitely return😍

The Aubergine

Warwick South, Warwick
04/10/2020: This restaurant is our regular haunt. It is probably our favourite place to eat in Warwick and as such we frequent here at least monthly. Throughout COVID The Aubergine has offered a take away service and there has been no dip in the quality and quantity of the food so if you want to have a delicious take away that isn't a greasy kebab or a pizza definitely pre order you won't be disappointed. We always opt for the sultans feast whenever or wherever we dine because you get to try a little bit of everything and everything is always sublime. Take aways are excellent but we cannot wait to come back in to dine as the owners Ses and Basha as well as their wonderful staff and gorgeous daughter Melisa make the experience for us, not to mention their fantastic wine list and sumptuous surroundings you really could be in Turkey, which considering many of us haven't gotten away this year gives you a break from the humdrum life most of us are currently experiencing. It is a small and intimate experience that is perfect for a romantic meal or a lovely evening out with friends and to not dine here whilst in Warwick should be illegal.
04/10/2020: Aubergine Restaurant - Smith Street Warwick.Intended to eat at the restaurant Saturday night but it was fully booked. Do ordered the Sultans Feast. Well it certainly was. Delightful staff, food was excellent. Great experience cannot rate this highly enough. Can it wsit till can try the restaurant out.

Mcturk Kebabs

Arboretum, Derby
21/09/2020: I had my very first Donner kebab from McTurks around 40 years ago and it is still the best kebab shop in Derby, well if it wasn't then I'd have gone somewhere else. Don't get me wrong, I have had kebabs from other places but none that I have been to even come close to McTurks.
23/08/2020: Mcturk kebabs was the last stop on our day of drink, they haven't switched to credit card use yet, still cash only but it was worth it just had enough to purchase a kebab which was just the right size and tasty. Always a treat.

Ziyaret Restaurant

Moulsham and Central, Chelmsford
27/09/2020: We came by chance on the EOTHO programme and loved it. Tonight we popped back and were equally impressed. The calamari is the best we’ve had locally and the service is so friendly and professional.
11/09/2020: One of the best places I have tried in Chelmsford. Ozan gives a friendly yet professional feel which combines great knowledge, food and atmosphere which provides a perfect setting for a night out.

Astare

Witham Chipping Hill and Central, Braintree
20/09/2020: Had a meal here on the occasion of a friends birthday, the food and the service were excellent I fully recommend.
10/09/2020: The food was delicios and the service really great. However, we may not go back as the general noise level even with it not being full was too much. We could not have a sensible conversation and even the waiter had problems hearing us. So probably not go back unless we hear (SIC) they have resolved the problem, shame a food really good.

Nef'istanbul Restaurant

St Clement's, Oxford
10/07/2020: Not only was the food delicious, but the people were so lovely, friendly, and accommodating. They said 'Be as you would at home' and didn't mind me lying down on their sofa as I didn't feel well and was very tired. They were happy to help however they could, and get us whatever we needed. They served us a big portion of bread with sauces as a starter, and were happy to get us more sauce when we used it all. They also didn't charge for any of the bread or sauce, and even got us a whole new lot of bread when they accidently took it away when we still wanted it. They were happy for us to take all our leftovers home. They were generally extremely accommodating. One thing we ordered was salad with goats cheese, which was delicious. The goats cheese was fried to perfection with delicious Balsamic glaze all over the top. They were happy for us to keep the starter to eat with our main. We also got complementary Turkish tea and Turkish delights at the end. The other thing we ordered was chicken kebabs with rice and salad. They were all really yummy and good quality, too. There were good big portions of everything. They were open in the middle of the afternoon as well, which was really good as we were out and about and very hungry for a big main meal then, and not many things were open. They had big comfy sofas and it was quite warm in there. We want to go again, and bring my grandfather, my mother's father, this time. It was just me and my mother last time.
06/07/2020: We drove from London to visit Oxford for the day and stumbled upon Nef'instanbul restaurant. Highly recommend the lamb shish and/or lamb Adana. Their Turkish bread (made fresh daily in-store) was a great intro that accompanied their dips and hummus. Our server was friendly and attentive too. Wish we lived closer otherwise we'd be ordering here as the go-to Turkish restaurant.

06/10/2020: I visit Mad Turks often, and I can honestly say the food and service has even spot on. The prices obviously reflect the quality and standards! Only recommendation would be to try and deliver after 10pm in this current pandemic! Hope they take it on board, at least for Friday Or Saturdays.

Lalahan Grill and Meze Bar

Salisbury St Edmund and Milford, Wiltshire
09/09/2020: As far as underrated restaurants go, this has got to be the most underrated restaurant in Salisbury.Hidden down Fisherton Street, this Turkish restaurant does not hold back on the decor. When we arrive are seated at a white stone table with beautiful rustic white armchairs. The ceiling is decorated with a cloudy blue sky, giving a blue tint to the light. There is so much choice on this menu it is hard to choose, but being a fiend for hummus I went for hummus and falafel with a delicious pita bread. It’s no wonder the food here is so good, the resident chef of Lalahan is indigenous to the Southeastern province of Turkey, bringing his skills to Salisbury in 2018.Lalahan exceeded my expectations, and will now be a regular on my eat out list.✨
31/08/2020: This Turkish restaurant is on the edge of Town but the food quality justifies the visit. Friendly and extremely hard working waitress plus an interesting decor. Only criticism is that the door is left open (probably a COVID-19 precaution) and this made the restaurant cold. The waitress minimised the impact by closing the back-door and we warmed up once the food arrived. Overall we enjoyed the visit.

20/08/2020: We love Woody Grill! Not only the food is exceptional and good, but the service has always been excellent (either eat in or take away). Recently we met Geta, who is so kind, matching the place entirely.

Pera Kitchen

Biggleswade North, Central Bedfordshire
04/10/2020: A table was booked 5 weeks ago for 7pm. 2 days before the restaurant rang to ask us to bring it forward to 6pm due to the amount of covers. This was not possible due to others that were in the party being unavailable at that time, and a party of 6. We arrived outside at 7.50pm but weren't shown in until 8.20pm, standing outside in the rain. A queue had formed behind us, all booked for 8pm and "no room at the inn". It looked as though people were being rushed through their meals to make availability for those of us who waited. For some people the wait was too much and went elsewhere. Once finally seated, the restaurant were good enough to provide 2 bottles of wine for the table as a compensatory measure, which was appreciated. No menus are available, you have to scan a QR code. All well and good except some in our party didn't have a phone and some didn't have QR code reader apps on their phones!! Food was okay, but nothing special and no consistency. Myself and another had the same starter, but both tasted totally different, how does that happen? Not knowing what a lot of the dishes were, the waiter didn't have the time to explain the menu, so it was pretty much a "throw a six to start" selection process for the main course. Luckily, what I had was acceptable, but I should have chosen chicken and the lamb was a fit fatty. About 9.40pm the waiter was going around the tables stating "only 10 minutes left", so we had to hurry our main courses and no chance of the sweet menu. We were still inside trying to pay the bill at 10.05pm.All in all a totally underwhelming experience. If the restaurant wants to try and get 2 sittings in, they need to set time limits and make people aware of them at time of booking.
04/10/2020: Booked for 8pm turned up just before to find a queue of 7 people who had all booked for 8. Whilst being left outside in the rain We were told at 8.10 by the waiter that Pera Kitchen has two websites and they had over booked but that they would try and fit us in - we were a table of 4 and our guests had never been before - they had an expectation that clearly wasn’t met. At 8.20 we left as no one else had left the restaurant and no one had come out to give us an update, plus now it was raining heavy - the restaurant has gone downhill at a time where service needs to be spot on to support themselves in these times - poor servicePoor show Pera.
