A Taste of Sahara

Regency, Brighton and Hove
05/09/2018: We went to Taste of Sahara for an evening meal. We were greeted into a friendly atmosphere and after being given a table where we were quite cramped we were moved to much nicer table without having to ask!
01/09/2018: A great recommendation by TripAdvisor, off of the normal tourist drag of the Lanes; this is a gem. Three starters, four main courses, and three drinks came to just over £80. The food was very tasty with great flavours, atmosphere was warm and inviting. And for those of you who drink, when we went it was BYO. Service was with a friendly smile and the food arrived quickly. We rang through and booked, we are so glad we did.

Hartshill and Basford, Stoke-on-Trent, <20£
16/08/2018: Wow, is your food Hot! amazing meals, although its a small place they have been able to accommodate us (About 11/12 of us) everytime we call to book. Bring your own booze too, can it get any better!
14/08/2018: Lots of options, presented in a different way. It's nice to have several small dishes rather than one massive curry! I've been many times and love it. Also, bring your own booze is a great idea! Thanks.

Alams Lounge

Dodworth, Barnsley, <20£
20/06/2018: What a little gem with off road parking.
19/06/2018: Amazing Food. Great Customer Service. Would recommend the Chicken Marsala - heaven. Great for night outs and family. Best food and price in Barnsley.

Abingdon, Kensington and Chelsea
02/09/2018: I have been going to this place for more than a decade, but recently I have seen a change in the place - for the better. The one test I have is how a Persian restaurant makes Koonideh! So it is juicy, not dry and not too salty and most important, it does not smell.
01/09/2018: This is the 3rd time I’ve been to Moshen. Reading other reviews I understand that it has changed hands. This probably explains why I feel the need to write this review. I very rarely do reviews. The food was quite good but the prices are too high. I have eaten lots of Iranian food in Dubai and the quality is usually much better. It is not in Central London but charges as if it was. The chicken was only just cooked inside. The main issue I had was the adding of 15% service charge. I don’t think the original owner did this and it is excessive for such a simple restaurant. Owner was not very friendly. I won’t be returning.

A taste of persia

South Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne
03/08/2018: We were staying in a nearby hotel and the weather forecast was for thunderstorms all evening so we opted to dine close. We both felt that we'd been exceptionally lucky to chose here as the food and service were excellent. We dined early as we had things to attend to and benefited from an early bird menu which was excellent value.
20/07/2018: I had been looking forward to this for a long time, as I am not a stranger to Persian food, and cook some myself.

Darvish Traditional Persian Tea House and Restaurant

Gipton and Harehills, Leeds
18/08/2018: I am a regular visitor to this restaurant over the years and have always found the food to be authentic and very tasty. The decor itself is unique in this area of Leeds and is very good at reflecting the area that the owners and the food come from. The food is a mixture of stews and grilled meat which is extremely well cooked. You will not get a spicey dish here so if you want a traditional curry you need to go elsewhere. You will only get tasty stews or kebabs, grilled lamb or chicken. I've tried a few dishes and none have disappointed. Definitely worth a try and I'm sure you will love it. Just make sure you book a table as it can get busy at times.
14/08/2018: A local favourite of ours. Food is good and a nice change to the more typical options. Great value and very friendly with a family feel. Kebab Koubideh is my usual takeaway choice which is simple but excellent. The starters, particularly the 'dips' are highly recommended. Good for eating in or taking out, the restaurant is nicely decorated, clean and cozy.

Central Hove, Brighton and Hove, 30-45£
14/08/2018: I'm a regular costumer and I've never been disappointed.
14/08/2018: I absolutely loved the food Shandiz offered! Had a lunch there, chicken kebab with fries and it was very delicious. The standards are very high and the ambiente is oriental. Their baklava was amazing, especially when combined with their special black tea. Definitely gonna visit Shandiz again!

Ladywood, Birmingham, <20£
02/07/2018: Everytime I am visiting this restaurant I am very pleased with food and service. The staff is very helpful and promptly and the food very tasty.I will always come back for a perfect meal!
16/06/2018: Some restaurant meals are all about the food, some are much more than that and Shiraz is definitely the latter.

Ariana II

Kilburn, Brent
31/08/2018: First time we try Afghan cuisine and we loved the food, I went for the slow cooked lamb, very nice! I will repeat for sure
26/08/2018: We were firstly welcomed by such a lovely waitress she was ever so charming and elegant. We tried the homemade ground meat samosas and my partner had the Spinach samosas which we adored. For our main course we had the Kabuli with chicken kebab and also the chicken curry which we couldn’t find any fault in at all. I cannot honestly describe how amazing our experience was and this was both our first time trying Afghan food. Would recommend this to the kings and queens of the land.

Fatboys Joint

Northgate, Crawley
13/08/2018: Called in just by chance when in Crawley on the way to the airport. The burger and chips was bang on and I would highly recommend it.
12/08/2018: I was dropping my sister off to Gatwick and checked places to eat nearby on TripAdvisor. I’ve not had Afghan food before and this place seemed fairly authentic from the reviews so I took a chance on it. I parked near a church on the same road and walked straight down for about a minute. First impressions, it’s a bit hard to distinguish from the neighbouring businesses but I found it in the end. My kids are quite fussy eaters and don’t do spice so the waiter suggested chicken tikka and chips from the kids meal section. Good job is he served it first so I could settle them first and they could eat bitesize pieces of chicken themselves. The menu had some items on that I haven’t tried before but I like biryani normally so had the chicken dum biryani. I thought there would be a biryani sauce option but there wasn’t, however I didn’t need it in the end however I was offered red and yogurt sauces at the table without asking. I can recommend it because it was delicious, but the serving was huge and I couldn’t finish it. If I’m next at Gatwick I wouldn’t mind coming back to try some other items as it’s child friendly and clean.

Alborz Restaurant

Levenshulme, Manchester, >100£
22/08/2018: Our family of 4, including boys of 14 and12, absolutely love this place. Really friendly with beautifully cooked delicately flavoured dishes, lots of choice, and great service.

Aneesa's Buffet Restaurant

Ouseburn, Newcastle upon Tyne
18/08/2018: Not a great deal in choice in my opinion. Food warm & luke warm on certain sekections. Over priced for what it is. Service tentative. Been twice now with over 2 year gap both times poor. First impressions look great but as the saying goes “don’t judge book by front of the cover”. Would I go again? No I’ve give it more than a fair chance. Most people I suspect would enjoy but would say it’s average at best. If special occasion don’t go. Sorry but I only post factual and honest reviews.
15/08/2018: We visited last week when were on holiday in Newcastle. To start with interior is good and ambiance is nice.

Arboretum, Nottingham
19/06/2018: We visited with a very large group. What a delightful restaurant, we had the feast which gave us all chance to sample Persian food, a great way to find out what you like and what you don't. The owner was hilarious as he described each dish which lived up to his comments. i found there was no Persioan food on the table I didn't like
12/06/2018: I love this place. Lovely restaurant, lovely people, lovely food... not much else to say really. If you haven't been already just book a table and go try it

Great Lever, Bolton
21/07/2018: First visit and food was excellent. I had 2 meat curries and 1 veg with with rice and a Nan bread for under 5 pounds. Meat was chicken and lamb on the bone and veg was chick peas. Nan was really buttery and tasty. Free water. Busy at Saturday lunch but would go again. As an aside the place was spotlessly clean.
10/07/2018: Been going for a good number of years. Excellent food at incredibly low prices. Always receive a Great welcome.
