30/12/2020: One of the best locals. Great atmosphere, LGBT+ friendly and they have a beautiful friendly cat. Always feel welcomed here. Great selection of drinks. Service is awesome. Definitely recommend.
14/12/2020: This has to be my favourite pub. There is nothing to dislike about this place. It’s a proper pub with a great interior. The staff are amazing, always making you feel welcome and go the extra mile. The food is very good. The quality of the beer is up there including a great pint of Guinness. Don’t miss checking this place out.

Thailand No. 1

Matlock All Saints, Derbyshire Dales
02/11/2020: Came here just before the 2nd lockdown, we was literally the only ones in! That’s understandable though!! I love Thai food & I love this place! Iv always loved it here.. the attention was perfect, as soon as I wanted a beer, it was there!! No waiting! Haha!.... the only thing that was wrong was the waiter was pacing up & down as we was eating, like back & forth & back & forth... it was slightly off putting while we was chatting / eating. It was almost like we was being rushed. But I didn’t let that ruin my meal, as we just took our time & enjoyed the taste of pure excellence & I shall be back hopefully in the near future Thankyou to the chef, the waiter & the blessing of Thai food!!!!May 2021 be a better year & merry Christmas
30/10/2020: Had a really good night out here with the family during half term. Food was really that little bit more nicely done than other Thais and I just liked the attention to detail. Kids loved the chicken and prawn parcels. Very safe in terms of COVID measures and quite busy for a Thursday early doors.

Everyday Thai

Frome Vale, Bristol, City of
13/12/2020: This was our second take-away meal from this great little restaurant and again it was much enjoyed. Our menu choices reflected what we always find good plus a couple of choices that we have not made before in any of our visits for dine-in or take-out meals here.It was a late decision to have a take-away meal and we umm’d and ahh’d about other possibilities for avoiding cooking our own Saturday evening meal. There are two local Italian restaurants that have started selling take-way food, a couple of Indian restaurants within a reasonable distance are doing the same. We’ve ‘gone off’ Chinese food, as it’s rarely good quality. Then of course there’s a great chippy close-by which serves fine fresh fish.So our chosen Thai restaurant had to be able to offer the best, and so I pre-ordered on that premise. I tried calling three time before I got through, once at about 11:30, and then again about 12:30; both times the phone’ rang-out’, and then finally at about 15:30 I got through. Placing the order was simple and I didn’t need to pay in advance. We ordered:The Crispy Aromatic Duck & Steamed pancakes with extra pancakes as we never have enough. This is a firm favourite; I think it’s quite likely we have had this dish on every occasion we have dined-in or taken-out from Everyday Thai.Chicken wok-fried in sweet & sour sauce. This was my choice and chosen because I love sweet and sour but I have never had the dish from the Everyday Thai.Prawns wok-fried with ginger. This was my partner’s choice and was chosen because she was impressed with the taste of the ‘Beef wok-fried with ginger’ that I had ordered last time we took out from the Everyday Thai. Duck wok-fried with fresh, crushed ginger. Again my choice but we both like duck and again I have never had this Duck dish from the Everyday Thai.Thai jasmine rice. My partner’s choice, I generally prefer noodles and particularly ‘Pad Thai’.I ordered for a 19:15 pick-up but arrived just after 19:00 at the restaurant because of co-operative traffic lights and quiet roads (we are in a Tier 3 area). I went into collect my order at 19:12, paid the £44.50 and was asked to take a seat. I didn’t have time to sit down though, as my meal arrived at that point. It was exactly 19:15. So 10/10 for service and punctuality. An equally good journey home and with hot serving dishes and plates, and a wine nicely chilled, we were ready to eat.The crispy duck was, as usual, fantastic. No shredded meat and skin that you get as other take-way’s provide, this is hot sliced whole duck breast with very crispy skin. The pancakes (6 to a pack) were really hot. The crispy veg, being cucumber, spring onion, carrot and deep-fried lettuce (latter aka ‘seaweed’), were finely sliced and there was plenty of it. The yellow/black bean or hoisin sauce was a bit thin and kept dripping out of the assembled pancake: potentially making a mess down your nice clean shirt. There was enough meat, veg and sauce to make 5 good-sized pancakes each (so we were pleased we ordered the extra pack of pancakes). So absolutely 10/10 for the starter. The sweet and sour chicken was quite dry because all the sweet and sour sauce has soaked into the batter on the individual battered pieces of chicken. The batter was no longer crisp it was just a rather unpleasant mushy, textureless doughy slop. That was scraped off after my first piece of chicken. The chicken itself was tender but didn’t get flavoured because all the sauce was either a dried-out jelly or was absorbed into the discarded batter. This just does not work as a take-away dish because the time, from being put into the plastic tub, to being served was at least 25 minutes. Needs a rethink, IMHO. So a sad 4/10 for this main. The prawns were fabulous, perfectly cooked, and not overcooked, deshelled and deveined and not overpowered by the warming ginger-based sauce and mostly crispy-cooked veg. As a shared dish there were not quite enough prawns (seven I recall). So a worthy 10/10 for this main. The wok-fried duck was really excellent, very tasty with beautifully cooked veg. There was a good serving which made up for the lighter prawn dish. So a full 10/10 for this main. The rice. I have has jasmine rice many times and also sticky rice. I believe what we were served was the sticky rice which was way-too sticky. I tipped the contents of the plastic tub into a warmed crockery serving disk and the rice came out in a single dense slab. It tried to break it up with an edge of my serving spoon and the rice just broke into lumps. It was totally overcooked and very dry. As a consequence it really did not suit the sweet and sour chicken because that chicken dish has no liquid. The wok-fried duck had a dense sauce so the rice didn’t particularly work with that either. The prawns had had a very light thinner sauce, which when added to the rice loosened it up considerably. Disappointing rice, so 5/10.On the whole it was a good meal but sadly it was let down by the chicken and rice dishes: so, it’s a 4/5 this time. We will try another take-way from here before restriction are fully lifted and hope our choices are better. On recollection the rice here has often been dense and glutinous even when we have dined-in. Maybe we’ll cook our own rice for take-aways or, better, have some noodles.
29/11/2020: We usually grab a takeaway from this amazing gem of a place but have also sat down to eat in the restaurant a few times. Excellent service, tasty food and one of our favourites. You will not be disappointed.

Thai Kitchen

Frome Market, Mendip
02/09/2020: For authentic Thai food, that is the perfect pick me up in these times, you’d have to travel a long way to match the food that Thai Kitchen serves. Outstanding!

Tookta's Cafe

Regency, Brighton and Hove
10/12/2020: We've always loved Tootka's. Tasty, delicious food. This was our first delivery and we were stunned by how well the food travelled. We're in heaven. Savoured everything - exceptional flavours and joy from duck panang, stir fry chick with basil and chilli, jasmine rice and pad thai prawn. Next work team! thank you.
05/12/2020: Booked for the first Friday following easing of lockdown restrictions and wasn’t disappointed.Smaller than I expected but definitely added to the charm. The food was excellent, the mixed starter for 2 is great value and plentiful, perhaps a little too much tempura based (which was superb to be fair) but other than that super tasty. Chicken green curry was amazing, lots of chicken, silky smooth gravy with fantastic flavour. Chicken Pad Thai was equally as good and lots of it. The team at Tookta’s just finished it off, very friendly and nothing too much trouble. £75 inc tip for 2, included a bottle of wine and several beers. Well worth it, this is a great Thai find!

Thai Sakon

Newsome, Kirklees, 30-45£
08/10/2020: Lovely food and brilliant service. There’s lots to choose from in the menu and the staff here were so friendly and attentive.
20/09/2020: We came here for a birthday celebration, were made very welcome and well looked after. The food was excellent, plentiful, well cooked. We had the early bird special which was good value with a long varied choice of dishes. The restaurant is pleasantly decorated, clean, comfortable and staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Probably the best Thai food I have yet eaten, well worth a visit.

Bann Thai Restaurant

Cromer Town, North Norfolk
13/02/2021: Just had our first takeaway meal from Bann Thai and it was absolutely delicious. Great treat for Valentines and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a meal that’s a bit more special than your average takeaway. Portion size was good and lots of meat in every dish. Prices are slightly higher than your usual takeaway but it was worth every penny.
23/12/2020: Very happy with the service and the food. They were happy to slightly adapt a dish for my partner, and let us enjoy our meal without rushing through the courses. We have travelled in Thailand and love Thai cuisine, this was some of the best we have had in the UK, particularly reccomend the hot and sour soup.

Chilli Club

Lymm, Warrington
02/10/2020: Not a bad Thai, cosy atmosphere, food is decent. But the staff are quite slow, they forgot we where waiting to order, we had to wave to get their attention and remind them that we where waiting. Even thou we where basically next to the bar.

Central, Gravesham
21/10/2020: Our first time visiting Sukhothai in Gravesend and it was fantastic.First and foremost the waitress / front of house was amazing - attentive, friendly and really warm and inviting and promptly took our time order between answering the phone for take away orders (must be popular for take-out in Gravesend) - she was on the ball with multi tasking!!Secondly, the smell that greets you from the kitchen is authentically Thailand, lemongrass, coconut milk and fish sauce - if you’re not hungry - after smelling that you will be!We opted for the mixed starter and some prawn crackers on the side. Nothing was greasy and everything tasted fragrant and fresh - not oily at all. And oh myGod, the Thai fish cakes were the closest tasting to those I had on a visit to Koh Samui for our honeymoon. Every bite was a delight.Next onto mains, we both opted for coconut rice with a beef Massaman and a prawn paenang. Both were fragrant, perfectly seasoned. The beef melted in your mouth and the prawns were meaty and not overcooked. The curry sauces themselves again so authentic and delicious. After these we were adequately full.Nonetheless we finished with dessert - Thai pancakes which were beautifully sweet with desiccated coconut and honey. We were also offered green tea - but at this stage we were both so uncomfortably full we couldn’t even fathom another bit (however delicious it was). The best bit - the bill came and £60 for a 3 course meal for 2 people (with drinks). It was honestly so good that we chucked down in excess of 30% tip. I’d strongly recommend this - we’re not hugely local (we’re in Dartford) but are already planning our next trip to continue working our way through the menu! The only thing that could make it better!?... if we had some of the Thai weather Thanks Sukhothai. You’ll see us again - that’s for sure! ❤️ Khob khun ka
21/10/2020: Just got back from a wonderful anniversary dinner with my wife. We'd honeymooned in Thailand so decided to try and recapture that essence for our night out. Boy did we ever choose the right place. The atmosphere from the second we walked in screamed Thailand and catapulted us right back to that beautiful country, and that was even before we tried the food.In a word...stunning.I can honestly say the food was the most authentic I have ever had in this country and we may as well have been eating in Koh Samui!Add to this the impeccably friendly and upbeat service and I cannot find a single fault.100% will definitely be back for the rest of the menu!Khob khun khap.
