Cheetham, Manchester, >100£

Exmouth Town, East Devon, 20-30£
04/11/2020: My wife and I had a final lunch out here before the second lockdown. It was superb, and still good value. It seems that quite a few people had the same idea as Saveur was nearly full. Kerry, with one helper, was her usual friendly, helpful and efficient self.We both started with the duck pate. My wife hates vinegar and as always, Nigel (the chef) was happy to swap out something vinegar-based for a suitable alternative. In this case, a savoury apple jelly for the relish. The pate was light and delicious and went beautifully with the brioche toast. The main course was confit of duck, for us both again. It was perfectly cooked, moist and falling off the bone, and complemented nicely by the mustard sauce gravy. As a non-mustard-lover my wife was given a delicious onion gravy instead. With the veg and potato base the whole dish was seriously tasty!Desert, again for us both, was a light sponge with baked pineapple chunks and ginger creme fraiche. It was light and every bit as good as the other two courses. One of us had a large glass of Rioja, the other a large glass of Aussie Shiraz. Both were excellent. All told, the bill came to £55.Excellent food and service and good value. Good luck during lockdown Kerry and Nigel. We look forward to returning, with friends if able, as soon as we’re allowed.
25/10/2020: Went for lunch as a family, lovely warm welcome and felt very covid safe. The food was delicious and the set lunch deal great value. 2 of us had the set lunch and one a la carte. All were really good. The menu is nice and short and we would have happily had any of the dishes although I think the highlight was the venison koftas. Service was friendly and just right, we will definitely visit again.

Old Vienna Restaurant

Wellswood, Torbay
12/11/2020: Just managed a visit before the 2nd national lockdown, and coincidentally our wedding anniversary. We thought that as we booked for an early time to dine, plus everything else going on, we’d be in an almost empty restaurant. How wrong could we be? It was full, but adequate provisions for social distancing were all in place. We were welcomed with a glass of bubbly each, thanks to the owner/chef Werner, who I admitted to that when I made the booking, I hadn’t realised it was our anniversary!I won’t go into what we both had, suffice to say each course was delicious, and extremely well presented! To round off the meal we were offered a complimentary schnapps each, which was another nice touch, made very amusing when Werner brought them to our table whilst yodelling!A great night, and we will definitely go again, an added bonus is that the restaurant is literally a very short walk from our cottage!
02/11/2020: After reading the great reviews about the restaurant we were so disappointed when it was fully booked for our week in Torquay, however we left our details and thankfully there was a cancellation. The meal was delicious , the boar and venison sausages on sauerkraut for starter were devine as was the schitnitzal for the main. My husband had the goulash. Veg side dishes were so tasty too. Kirsch cherry pancake and the hazelnut icecream was delicious. Werner came out to chat to everyone and the complimentary schnapps was just perfect for the short walk home. A warm welcome by everyone, felt covid secure and waitresses were lovely. A must visit if you visit Torquay

Folkestone Harvey Central, Shepway
13/11/2020: We were lucky to find a table on a Sunday for brunch. We were served quickly and the food was amazing. The Covid-19 procedures make you feel safe without being intrusive. There was lots of choice for vegetarian's and with breakfast being served all day on a Sunday it was great! The staff were friendly, good ambience and overall a lovely visit.
30/10/2020: Marleys restaurant is decorated beautifully throughout creating a wonderfull ambiance. The service was casual, friendly and professional. Everything we ate was delicious, even the kids meals were of a really high quality. My vegan steak in the picture was gorgeous, probably the best vegan meal I have eaten out. The deodorant in the mens room was a nice touch too!

Menu Gordon Jones

Lyncombe, Bath and North East Somerset, 45-60£
13/11/2020: We treated ourselves to a tasting menu at Menu Gordon Jones and we were not disappointed the staff, the food the way that each course was presented was totally out of this world can not recommend this restaurant enough.
05/11/2020: Visited last night and had a truly delicious meal! The food was amazing! Every course was beautifully presented and just tasted so good! We had a glass of sparkly to start, shared a lovely bottle of wine and ended with an Amaretto! But that was nothing compared to the food, from the bread to the banana soufflé we were treated to the best food we’ve ever eaten. Big thank you x

The Queen Victoria Pub

Maldon North, Maldon, <20£
05/11/2020: We had lunch here on the final day before Lockdown 2.0. Every aspect was just as it should be from a good pub. While it, quite deservedly, has a loyal local clientele, the welcome was just as warm and friendly to 'out-of-towners' such as ourselves. The Covid-19 security measures were exemplary. A good range of well-kept, proper beers and lovely food. The highlight for me was the homemade steak & kidney pudding - so rare to find a truly homemade version and this one was packed with tender meat, surrounded by perfect suet pastry.
30/10/2020: This is our 2nd visit to this lovely well run pub in weeks. The staff are accommodating and friendly, and the food is delicious!

Verveine Fishmarket Restaurant

Milford, New Forest, 45-60£
08/11/2020: What an experience - blind tasting menu showcasing the creativity and talent of two incredible chefs! They took each course to the next level, pairing flavours that you might not normally think would work, and then plating them like a piece of art. Unfussy and relaxed vibe at the restaurant and we couldn't have been more impressed. Course after course wowed us, with the herring and pre-dessert courses being our favourites. You just have to try this for yourself - it was certainly a really special treat for our honeymoon!
04/11/2020: Booked the restaurant after seeing the reviews but wondered if it would actually be this good, it was. We had the six course blind tasting menu with pairing wines and each course was just amazing. We had trout, prawn and lotus root, octopus, hake and a memorable licquorice ice cream with sherbet. The wines were perfect with the food. Everything about the evening was perfect, food, restaurant, decor, even the crockery. The staff also deserve a mention as they were helpful, professional and friendly. Can’t wait to go back when we can.

Sotto Sotto

Abbey, Bath and North East Somerset
31/10/2020: My partner and I came here yesteday evening. We were early for our reservation and were let in before the given time. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The staff went above and beyond - personalising a plate for our anniversary. Be sure to book in advance so that you don't miss out! Thank you so kuch for a lovely meal.
30/10/2020: Great food, the calamari and the king prawn bruschetta starters were amazing. Beautiful atmosphere. Only downside was the food was quite rushed and waiting staff could've been more attentive, but understand that the current situation with Covid may have affected this.

Lansdown, Cheltenham
23/10/2020: Delicious meal - couldn’t fault anything. Lovely, welcoming staff. Would highly recommend if you’re visiting the Cotswolds.
18/10/2020: Ate here last night while staying in Cheltenham for a couple of nights. The atmosphere was great and very welcoming, the staff all Covid aware. I tried snails for the first time & was very impressed! Main meal of rabbit and finished on a cheese board all washed down with a lovely bottle of red. All of which was cooked and presented beautifully. The staff took time to explain what the dishes consisted of, and I would definitely recommend.

No 3 Restaurant & Bar

Ross-on-Wye East, Herefordshire, County of
01/11/2020: Delicious meal at No3 last night. Place was full (covid permitting and all safety measures in place), great atmosphere and service. Had to eat a bit quicker than normal as they had to close at 10pm but the quality of the food didn’t suffer. All three courses and the pre dinner breads were superb, and excellent value for money too. We were visiting the area and booked after seeing other reviews - just wished we lived closer so we could go again!
30/10/2020: Really cute little restaurant, loved the decor. The staff were all very friendly, service was really fast. The food was all absolutely delicious, we had 3 courses and couldn’t fault anything. Excellent cocktail menu too!

The Lowestoft Tandoori

Harbour, Waveney
23/11/2020: Chicken patia, pilau rice, garlic naan. Delicious tender chicken breast full flavoured sauce just right. Order taken by nice professional guy, delivered by a lovely friendly lady. I don't think I would dare go elsewhere as it is hard to find a reliable decent Indian.
22/11/2020: Brilliant take away, as always. Complimentary dishes always just tops it all off. Food is always hot and tastes delicious. Thank you Lowestoft Tandoori.

Rocking Horse Cafe & Gallery

Longhoughton, Northumberland
11/11/2020: This is a great place just off the A1. The owners were very helpful and friendly. We had our dog with us and she was warmly welcomed. The owner's two collies came out for a play with our dog. We had a really nice lunch in the garden. After we had finished, our 4 year old grandson was joined us. This was not a problem and lunch number two was produced. An excellent place to visit with or without a dog or grandson.
08/11/2020: Had a couple of visits for brunch at this cafe whilst on hols in Northumberland. Owner and staff so friendly and welcoming and food excellent. Highly recommend, and good for stop offs if travelling up the A1 too, as very close by (but not obvious!)

Edie's Kitchen

St Austell Bay, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
04/11/2020: We dropped into the area for a weekend break and were recommended this restaurant. Located at the end of a small, understated parade of shops we may easily have walked past if we hadn't already booked and what a mistake that would have been. Service excellent but the food was amazing and really made our day. Delicious oxtail starter which I never wanted to end. Fish cooked to perfection and each plate was simply excellent in its simplicity and combination of flavours. It was food that puts a smile on your face - already planning to go back next year.
04/11/2020: We spent a very pleasant lunchtime at this restaurant. The service was excellent, the staff were very amenable and the food we had was fabulous. We had the vegetarian menu which had flare and imagination, this is such a change. If anyone wants a very enjoyable brunch, lunch or dinner don’t hesitate to try Edie’s.

Lifeboat Fishbar

Castle, Scarborough
02/11/2020: Service spot on. Had takeaway. Recommended to all. Good fish n chips along the front you cant beat it. Large portions.
01/11/2020: We drove up from the midlands for day out half term week. We called to book a table. Scarborough was busy enough but this place is just tucked away around a corner. We rang and booked an hour before we arrived. We rocked up and a lovely young lady had our table ready, order taken within minutes. Slim tall blonde she’s a proper credit to this restaurant. Super helpful. Food quality was good. Not cramped and Covid precautions good. Definitely visit again. Thank you.

Fresher's Cafe

Ambleside and Grasmere, South Lakeland
11/11/2020: We got a very warm welcome when we entered the cafe, before taking the last table. Straight away we were told there would be a wait for the food as several people had come more or less at the same time. This wasn't a problem as we didn't mind waiting for freshly cooked food. When our food arrived it was definitely worth the wait, the portions were generous and the food delicious, all at a very reasonable price.
02/11/2020: Great cafe run by a lovely family , homemade cakes , quiche etc , we had breakfast and it was top quality produce used . Very busy and parking nearby all good ! Only one thing wrong and I stress one ! The wait was way too long and we wasted a lot of our precious morning in the lakes .. the owner did say it would be half hour wait but it was more like 59 mins ... not much multi tasking going on in the kitchen , suck a shame as the rest was 10 /10 ...
