Great food at reasonable prices, also the animals and kids playpark are great. Waiting staff friendly, cheerful and helpful. Only issue is you are unable to tip the staff via card payment which is annoying when very few people carry cash and some people like to show gratitude towards the waiting staff.

Excellent service with you ordering everything from your table which is very convenient. Good choice of food although children’s menu could be better and there were no pizzas which dissapointed our youngest grandchild. We all enjoyed what we ordered and look forward to calling again soon.

As the title of the review said says, don't get caught out with a parking ticket. Make sure you register your vehicle either at the hotel reception or the bar within 10 minutes of arriving, or you will get a ticket. As for the establishment itself, this is a Wetherspoons which, if you are familiar with the chain, is the same as the others, so you know what you'll be getting. It's in a suburb of Edinburgh. The main difference between this and others that I have visited is that the building is less spectacular, but everything else is as you would expect.

Avoid until the manager/owner recognises that her behaviour is incompatible with hospitality, although I suspect she's not the type of person to take feedback. I wish I'd read the reviews before I spent my money there. I didn't enjoy seeing an elderly fellow customer shouted at about a coffee, or other customers being told off about where they sat, and I didn't enjoy seeing a staff member being told off either. I also didn't enjoy hearing plates crashing about, if you have an open kitchen you might be aware of this. The food was nice enough but overpriced and the menu is very limited. I'm afraid there are no reasons to visit the cafe that are greater than the reasons not to visit. I'll be back to Culross but not to Biscuit.

Food was good enough, very basic menu and unfortunately the restaurant was shut which I was gutted about as the menu looked fantastic. Only had a takeaway menu available which was mostly frozen food, also is to be expected seeing as you’re in the middle of nowhere! Staff were lovely, very on the ball. Drinks were well priced.

I almost never leave reviews, but I felt I had to because I felt so ripped off here. I'm a local and had time to kill before work so I popped in for lunch. The staff were friendly and the service was quick, but I got the smallest piece of avocado toast I've ever seen for a tenner. I'm still hungry. I sort of knew it would be a mistake to go somewhere touristy but now I know I definitely won't be back. There are nicer places on Cockburn Street, never mind the rest of the Old Town.

We stayed one night, myself, my husband, parents and our daughter. Had drinks and dinner. Salmon, steak pie, burger and fish and chips. All were excellent. Mataias was the bartender, and was wonderful. Room was lovely. We had a view of the waterway and the weather was beautiful today so we’re able to walk along the docks and visit Fort William. Great deck out by the water we were able to sit on until sundown, and then the bugs came out, so back inside! The only downfall, is there are a lot of winding stairs. A bit understaffed early on in the afternoon, but by dinner fully staffed. Staff were friendly and met quite a few new friends throughout the evening. Great ambiance, would definitely return.

Would suggest avoiding for food if our experience is anything to go by. Dropped in for a quick meal on Friday 8th November. Left with a fairly low opinion. On a positive, the chips were pretty nice, and the burger I ordered was also reasonable fayre. My brother however is Gluten Free so was limited for choice, however there are a couple of options on the menu so all good. Opted for the chicken and chorizo dish at £14. A bit steep, but hey ho. Poorest GF plate we have seen in a long time. 1 chorizo "link" sausage butterflied and heated up somehow, made it so hard it was stiff to cut and not edible. Atop this was a small chicken breast with a topping that made it taste like washing up liquid (we both had a go at it). These were both outdone by a "mango and pepper salad" which was unappetising mush. I'm not convinced the mango had seen daylight in 2024 - more probably the inside of a freezer cabinet. When paying at the bar, I mentioned that this dish was truly awful. Basically got ignored and simply told that's thirty five quid please. Hopefully this gets read and the owners can consider upping the game?

We all had Sunday lunch (£22), service was good and waitress was friendly. However the Roast dinner was lukewarm, the beef was far from tender and the Yorkshire pud was clearly reheated and very greasy. The bar wasn’t able to provide many of the beers/lagers on tap. Altogether a very disappointing visit. We were here last year and I still remember The Venison I had. Clearly new management/chef. Definitely give it a miss.

100% would not recommend, chicken skewer was still pink, rest of the food tasted microwaved, asked to speak to head chef was told no, asked to speak to manager was told, FOH were rude. Chefs stand and stare at you from the kitchen door, only thing that was good was the ice in our drink.

Nothing vegetarian on the menu (really?! in 2024?!) so had to ask, and was given two choices. Opted for veggie lasagne with garlic bread. Worst veggie lasagne I’ve ever had. Half cooked veggies in tomato water, no bechamel (or even cheese) sauce and a thick layer of chewy mozzarella on top. Garlic bread was a slice of white toast with chunks of garlic on top. Would not recommend.

It seemed promising from the outside but the food was just okay and the women working the pub/restaurant were not the friendliest. Neither was off putting but just not the warm and friendly vibe we had hoped for. I think this is a better place to watch a sporting event as evident later that night. Hardly anyone eating there but lots of people watching football. Here's the catch, there are really only two places to eat in town and if you did not have reservations at the hotel restaurant, then you basically are stuck here. If you have a choice, choose the hotel restaurant option.

WOW!!! WHAT CAN I SAY? myself, my wife and her father have just had fish and chips each. That was the best fish and chips we've eaten in years!!! Crispy batter, good size fish, delicious chips and peas. We each enjoyed our meal. If you're in the area, make a booking and have a fantastic tasting meal. Genuinely, I loved my meal. Thank you so much for our tasty meals. It's been a pleasure relaxing here.
