Lovely conservatory with nice atmosphere. Main course Thai Chicken stir fry - rice was quite stodgy and chicken was mediocre. Lemon Meringue pie was as flat as a pancake and the clotted cream was far too heavy. Dessert was very expensive.

Amazing find, fantastic menu, great staff. One of our starter's was haggis and black pudding scotch egg, big fir a starter. Cut into it, perfect runny egg, not easy with the density of the meat, tasted amazing. Prawn starter large prawns properly cleaned. Good menu, plenty of choice. Enjoy

Stopped by for lunch with my daughter today, hadn’t booked… not a problem. Also didn’t have the bank card… also not a problem, they accept Apple Pay. We were seated in the conservatory & had drinks with us within a minute or two. Food arrived shortly after ordering from the dine sublime menu & it was delicious, the usual high standard we’d expect from here. Fresh, tasty & well presented, it hit the spot. Staff were friendly & attentive, even happy to recommend a dessert when asked - the biscoff straboffee pie by the way - get it! The only drawback today was that they can’t accept gratuities by card, noted for next time. Thank you, we’ll be back :)

Recently went here on the off chance we could get a table as we had not previously booked and online they were showing a really good deal of two courses for £10.95 before 6:30pm. On arrival we were greeted by a young member of staff who was very nice and welcoming, she had a look at the computer to see if there would be any availability for us for dinner. A young male member of staff came over to the computer and said we could have a table. An older female member of staff marched over and abruptly said we have no tables (the restaurant had 2 tables with people sitting eating and the rest were empty but these could have been reserved which was fair enough). The young man tried to explain that on the computer system it was showing they had a few tables empty with no reservations and at this point the older lady began arguing with this young boy and the way she spoke to him was awful, not sure if she’s a manager or just a member of staff but she really needs to work on her communication skills! She was so rude!! We were then advised we could have a seat outside which was great as the weather was good anyway and we didn’t mind. We were then given menus and I enquired about the two courses deal and I was informed this is not available if you are eating outside, although no mention of this on their Facebook page or website? Very strange as you have to walk through the restaurant out into the garden and are sitting right beside the window looking into the restaurant but this is not included? I was literally sitting beside a pane of glass which was separating the restaurant and the garden so this to me was baffling! We decided to leave and eat elsewhere and can honestly say I don’t think I would return.

We called ahead and were lucky to get a table on a sunday afternoon. Parking is to the back of the venue and the restaurant is in a conservatory at the front with its own bar. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We decided to take the 3 course for 14.95 menu. For the price the selection was great and the quality of food plus portions were excellent. I had crayfish and avocado with bloody mary dressing which was tangy and spicy. That was followed by well cooked haddock and chips and afterwards i had the homemade sticky toffee pudding which was moist and delicious. For the price i think you would be hard pressed to beat it!

Due to the good weather we went down to the beer garden for the second week on the trot. Weather nice, drinks nice. After a few drinks a young waiter took our order and never came with the drink. After chasing him up the drink arrived. He held the credit card reader machine up in the air and I proceeded to do the contactless transaction. There was just something odd about how he held it away from me so I opened my banking app and he had double charged. When challenged he ‘couldn’t work out what has happened’. We had been using the machine all day with the waitresses and the figures are manually inputted and not tied into the main till. I got the refund but drank up and took my business elsewhere. Disappointing.

Where to start! Booked following good reviews from family members who had visited recently…… must have been different kitchen staff when they dined here because our experience was v poor. OH had haggis scotch egg for starter which was FROZEN solid in the middle. Waitress replaced with pâté that looked like it had come straight out the packet & 2 anaemia looking “toasts” accompanied with a bit of rocket. My starter of duck croquettes we’re completely tasteless along with a plum sauce which was served in a plastic container you would normally get in a takeaway box! Main course breaded haddock was completely over cooked - thought hubby was going to break a tooth on the breadcrumbs tbh. Salmon skewers were again tasteless accompanied by a timbale of tasteless rice - no salad, trickle of sauce which u couldn’t taste there was so little (NO I don’t have Covid, food just tasteless)! Overall soooooo disappointed with food. Front of house were lovely & helpful(very embarrassed at scotch egg being frozen solid in the middle). On the plus side, my Shiraz & Cosmo were delish. Unfortunately won’t be rushing back😩

Came here yesterday for my 30th birthday for a lunch with my family and a few drinks the staff were friendly, the food was ok the cheeseburgers are by far the best thing on the menu in my opinion I ordered the Thai red curry and it never had much chicken for the price your paying I personally think there should be more than 6 small chunks there was more veg than chicken. I waited almost an hour for our dessert after our main meal and we were outside so because burnt as I was sat in the sun and became very uncomfortable as did my family. It was 2 desserts and almost an hour wait ? Wouldn’t come back it’s expensive and the food as I said was ok nothing great but the wait was absolutely terrible! I always waited around 30/40 minutes from ordering for my main meal to arrive to have 6 small bits of chicken! Very disappointed with the service provided. If it wasn’t for the views I’d of rated lower.

Went here with my sister's as one of them was heading back home to oz tomorrow so we thought a nice meal and chat before she leaves but evening was ruined as soon as we ordered drinks two of us asked for full fat coke and to our disgust was told we dont sell it it's got to much sugar ! Was then told I could get irn bru but I told her it's got artificial sweeteners in it so I dont like drinks with artificial sweeteners so only thing I could have was water as I'm a non alcoholic drinker. So for the first time in my life I go into a restaurant and the staff want to tell me what's good for my health? So what they are saying you can have as many pints of lager as you want and get drunk and a pint of lager has the same amount of sugar as a can of coke but we dont sell coke then to really rub it in the dessert menu comes round with all the different dishes on offer with more sugar the any drink in one word Embarrassing!..

Visited this restaurant as we saw it had an outdoor sitting area and as we had 2 small dogs with us we decided we would ask if the place was dog friendly. We would have been understanding if it was not but as we were in the area we thought we would check. Asked a boy out back of the restaurant if dogs were allowed to which he informed us he would double check with management. After waiting a few minutes two of us decided to go in to see what was happening whilst the other party members stayed in the car with the dogs. When we went in we saw the same boy trying to ask the woman behind the bar about our question to which he was being blatantly ignored. We asked her instead to which she replied “Absolutely not! No way!” In a very dismissive manner. As said before we would have understood if they did not accept dogs however the way we were spoken to was terrible customer service and quite frankly put us off ever returning even without a dog! Glad we didn’t spend our money here to be honest!

As my mother and I left out of the back we could smell that stinking strong oil coming from the kitchen!, I will never be back shocked and disgusted! felt totally let down.

The young lady on duty - Joanna - was very helpful and friendly and looked after us very well. We decided on the 2 course menu at £10.95. The choice of starters and main courses was excellent and all three of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The only thing that I would have a small complaint about was the price of the drinks (eg: a malt whisky cost £3.95). Overall though because of the price of the meal it balanced out to what we would normally spend each month. Would certainly recommend a visit for lunch as long as you don't mind drink prices.

Having stayed here last year and enjoyed it I was hoping it was still the same, it has changed , if anything it's better than last time, the staff are still the same so friendly, the place has had a refit and the exterior updated it now looks as good on the outside as the in, rooms have been updated , very modern, a standard you would get in most 4 star hotels. The food is out of this world and very reasonably priced. Will defently stay here again.

We, myself and five year old daughter, really enjoyed our meal at the Lauriston. I don't know the area and it was a recommendation from a local that guided us here. We were late afternoon, September holiday Monday. They have a special two / three course meal for £11/£13. It was really good value as the portions were huge - too much for me, but I am not a big eater. The Pate was alright, the braised beef was really nice, but don't think we challenged chef. It was heated up to perfection! It was the atmosphere and service that made our experience so very positive. We were there at quiet time so got a lovely table at the window with views over the bay.The wee one was happy to draw and the front enclosed (locked) beer garden gave her space to explore and me to relax. My only criticism would be the "children's menu".. why? My pet hate. Its one of those menus with chicken nuggets and tomato pasta... eugh! I started reading her options, the first of which was tomato soup. She was so hungry she focussed on that and decided on that. They didn't have any. Yey. So she had the Cream of Cauliflour instead... white soup to her. She loved it and would have been my choice for her anyway as she is a soup groupie. She had chocolate cake for her main course. Again, way too big a portion, but she really enjoyed it.I would happily go here again, and probably will, as after our meal we went to the wee park across the road then gathered shells on the beach. A lovely afternoon.

Very enjoyable Sunday lunch in the restaurant, thought the food was tasty and well presented, also the staff were courteous. Good value for money in nicely decorated surroundings, I'm sure we'll be back next time we're in Ardrossan!

My parents booked here for a family treat. Unfortunately it turned out very disappointing. We were meant to have had afternoon tea for 6 when the tray arrived it only had cakes for 4 people & 12 finger sandwiches, 3 fingers per person (4 people) we asked for the other 2 and were told we had it, when we said there were only cakes for 4 we were ignored and some more finger sandwiches arrived! The tea arrived ages later and we had to ask twice for milk, the tea was luke warm by the time it arrived. We were very shocked when we went to settle the bill, paying for soft drinks, to find they wanted to charge us £13 for the extra sandwiches, we only got another 12 fingers, no extra cakes or tea! When we mentioned this they dropped the price to £8.95 which is still disgusting! The staff didn't seem very on the ball & it wasn't busy so no excuses. A real shame as it could be a really nice place. Very over priced and we won't be back!

The Lauriston Hotel is handy to the ferries, boasts an attractive position overlooking the sea and offers value for money. The staff are very friendly, in fact our waitress (Nikki) was a darling. So much so I tipped her £20. The accommodation was clean and functional and the food fresh and tasty. Parking is on the hotel grounds and is easy to access.

I visit the Lauriston on a regular basis with family and friends. In fact I have been going to this hotel since I was 18 and I am now in 54! The food is always really good and the staff are very welcoming, pleasant and helpful. Having parents who can only take small portions and eat certain foods, the staff are always willing to help with requests. It is a great place to relax with good food and wine. The decor is lovely too!!!

Visited here with the hope of booking a wedding as there menu was excellent on paper but dreadful on the plate.tatesless watery chicken .even used packet smash as potatoes and the pudding was meant to be sticky toffee pudding in butterscotch sauce more like a 100%pure butter sauce.my advice give it a miss they may talk a good Scottish menu but the sure can't deliver it on the plate.

The restaurant was very quiet, probably because the visit was midweek and early. Comfortable location but rather lacking in atmosphere. Scottish cuisine plus burgers etc. Service good but rather brusque.

Went a walk to get a bite I really fancied a burger I have got a few times from here but as i was sitting outside I wasn't able to get the burger I wanted I had to choose from a different menu, didn't get that why can't we order same food as sitting inside? So settled for pulled pork baked potato it was really good partner had fish and chips and that was also really good! Just annoyed that I was sitting 3 feet from inside and couldn't get the other menu

So went to pick up new Glasses today and as I was straight after work early shift was hungry . A Piri Piri place in mall Called Black Rooster ( yea crazy a chicken place ). It had advertised “ Vegetarian “ menu. Corn burger Paneer wrap Halloumi burger All of these. £4.50. With a variety of “ sauce” flavours . I had decided on the “ corn burger 🍔” Oh sorry we’ve “ phased “ those out . Puzzled look on my face … Ok I no would like the Halloumi Burger. Ahhh ok. With what sauce and do you want lettuce and Mayo Yes please Said I. I really want you to enjoy this I will have the Spicey BBQ please and make that a meal thanks that will be £7.50 Now at this point I sat more in Hope than confidence that this wasn’t a hooge mistake . Sadly it turned out my initial feelings were founded. This mess is what turned up . When is a burger not a burger !! I spoke to a staff member explaining my confusion. Oh we’ve “ phased out the Halloumi burgers” and we now only use the halloumi sticks !!! What would you like to do ? The manager should have explained this when she took your order. I’m sorry if she didn’t . Please just refund me. Thank you. So the moral in the Tale . If it’s a Chicken shop . No matter how “ cool and on trend they want to be seen as having vegetarian options. They will most likely still be a piri piri chicken shop that wants to be Nando’s but still fail with even the basics. 🤮

Excellent fish and chips with the lightest crunchiest batter and juicy succulent fish. As a female solo visitor (walking Ayrshire Coastal Path) I enjoyed the relaxing room upstairs and the staff were ultra friendly.
