The Auld Brig in North Ayrshire

3 of us ate or tried to eat breakfast. My son had pancakes and fruit- they forgot the syrup. His fiancee had an egg thing i forget its name and was assured "yes theyll give you a cooked yolk" it was runny as hell! I had eggs benedict with extra bacon and added black pudding. The muffins were so tough i found it hard to cut them, the undressed rocket leaves were a stupid addition that got in the way really badly too. The black pudding was hard on one side and the bacon was black at one edge and way way over cooked. The hollandase was tasteless too. Ive made this dish for myself and its light years from this really poor effort. It might be a cheaper place to eat but its not good at all and therefor its not good value. Im a chef and i hate complainers and always hold my tongue and didnt complain inside the place, they dint have chefs in their kitchens its button pushers, "line chefs" whatever that invented title is??? My advice is (and to myself now aswell) if you want cheap food, stay indoors and cook some. Dining iut is price related, pay more you should get quality, pay less like i did and expect the shxxe i got simples

Went for dinner and when it came out all of it was cold took it back. The staff said we could heat it up in mircowave for you . One the barstaff short change me by a ten pounds . Wont go back into that pub.

Hot chocolate has gone from the best in town to insipid yuk. Cutting corners are we? We'll I'll have to cut the corner Wetherspoons is on. Don't cut corners in the wrong place.

It's a very busy pub restaurant when busy staff are over awed. Long waits for drink and uncleared tables. Still the best pub in Irvine.

What a disaster! Staff weren’t helpful at all and everything seemed an effort for them, couldn’t get a clean table so sat on one with dishes piled high waited 10 mins no staff came near, so when I went and asked for them to clear the table a girl came over took half the dishes away left the rest along with a sticky table and didn’t return!! Waited another 10 mins and had to go back up to ask them to clear the rest so we could order food and when I walked to the bar staff just walked away!! Ended up leaving and will NOT be back. Staff standing on phones while almost every empty table was full of dishes. Also food all over the floors, overall looked very unclean.

Same as all the other wetherspoons, cheap food and drink. Portion sizes seem to be cut back.

Good wetherdspoons with good cheap pub good.

A busy shopping centre venue, especially on a Saturday when we visited. Inside, it's attractive enough and service was prompt and friendly. We tried to sit at one of the few outside tables and the ones that were available wobbled so much you couldn't even put your drink down. You can do better than that Wetherspoon's.

dads burger came out cold and went up to the bar less than 2 minutes later came out with a new one and that was even colder than the last!! the server tried to say they were freshly made then felt it herself took it back and put it all in microwave to heat up. felt ill since i ate there today and have been spewing since. the amount of dishes lying was a put off piling high, glasses were covered in marks too and food took a while to come . just a overall bad experience

Nice breakfast the f coffee was fresh and tasty ☕ I had the miners Benedict which is egg black pudding with the Benedict sauce 😋 Freindly and efficient staff in a nice environment

Always welcoming staff, customer service is very good and the availability and range of drinks and menu items is vast. The only negative is that on occasion you find yourself on a table lacking condiments or menu etc. The staff will correct this if asked and this is no reason to slate this establishment. Chef, too much vinegar in the eggs benedict, kinda overpowering. This is a JD W and not Le Manoir😁

Food tasted good but 8Oz Stake was 4Oz fat. I had eaten about 2 Oz before noticing. Manager said nothing she could do. Not even discount the price. I lived here for 20years. Luckily if ylthe manager was 20. Extremely poor public service Not sure I'd come back. I be going to the Carrick in future.

Pub is fine but the blond woman who served me has had a personality bypass and it's working just fine. I asked if she was having a good day. I won't tell you her reply. If you don't like your job little lady, then. ?? But don't take it out on people who pay your wages. Won't be back. 👎

Good sized portions, tasty grub, at great price, so what's not to like? Really enjoyed our meal, and the service was really speedy, even considered how busy the place was. Will certainly be back.

First time in here with friends & sat in the lovely beer garden. High fence for privacy & shelter, plenty tables , parasols & lush fake grass Staff & locals friendly.

Went into Wetherspoons in Kilmarnock today with my son for breakfast. My son has learning difficulties and I am trying to promote his independence and self esteem so I sent to the bar to order breakfast. He returned to the table a couple of moments later visibly upset. He told me the man behind the bar refused to serve him and told him he had too much to drink. My son was 100% sober. I went to the bar to confront the barman and got a muted apology, Wetherspoons need to train their employees properly as this is not only detrimental to vulnerable peoples self esteem but verges on discrimination. Needless to say myself, friends and family will not be back

JD Wetherspoon. The most tried and tested pub in Britain. We had stopped into Irvine for the day for leisure and found ourselves quite hungry so popped in here. Service was quick, my grandmother and I both had the fish and chips, tasted lovely but unfortunately we seemed to have a little food poisoning afterwards. The service was…alright, staff seemed to be quite busy and sort of put out, but things happen so this might have just have been a one off experience. We did tip which wasn’t really appreciated as much as we would have liked, not a lot of manners from the waiter who picked it up. A nice day out, and a nice pub, very dim in certain areas. 3 out of 5 as there is room for improvement.

Not the place for a quick pint...staff too busy with online orders and replenishing glasses and coffee cups. Not even an acknowledgement.

Visted today for the first time place was really busy really disappointed that tables arent clearrd and cleaned between people leaving and other people coming in should have staff checking at all times even after asking oour table wasnt cleaned or the plqt3s cleared feom previous people meals where OK chips and chess weren't good nachos either and the hot chocolate fudge cake had oil floating near the ice cream bot the best wetherspoons we have visited

Really has fallen badly. I used to really enjoy to come here for a meal and for a few drinks however the staff have become progressively worse and actually rude. Last time I came here asked for a classic sirloin medium/rare. I was presented with a piece of raw meat. I approached the shift supervisor who had served me to report it and get it fixed. I was treated with a patronising look and asked if I “wanted to buy a new one?” I had to actually push to have my lunch replaced. Real shame versus only 2 years ago.

(This review written from the perspective of a Canadian) The first Wetherspoons I fell in love with—maybe it was the company that brought me along, but there's a lot to love either way. This is where I found out about unlimited café beverages, from a self-serve machine (no waiting around to bug a waiter for a refill)—making this place, and pretty much any Spoons an instant winner. If you vape, there are plenty of tables that have easy access to a (quite) open outdoors area (it's a parking lot); this is really nice. I can always step out for a minute, and making distance isn't hard—neither is coming back in. The food is always very good—I've had some orders come missing items, but staff are always helpful, despite the restaurant almost always being busy. For food, the only area I'd like to see evolved on—some five-spice items (such as the Naga Chili Chicken Vindaloo, available at the Sir John Moore and the Crystal Palace) would be fantastic; for any fans of spiciness, it will knock your socks off—but it's not available at this location. The item rated one spice lower—the Beef Madras—is very manageable for me--that extra spice the Naga Vindaloo has is like an extra order of magnitude; it takes what one can manage confidently, and lays on nine more. Overwhelming, in the best way—I do wish it, or something similar were here. (if you're at a Wetherspoons where it's served, it's very good stuff—it will have you putting those free decaf mochas to use!) Costs are very reasonable, considering how pricey eating out in the UK can be (in my experience). I specify the costs as ranging from £1-£10, as it's true that that is all you will often have to spend—however, I was almost always enticed to spend more; everything I've had has been very, very good in terms of texture, taste, and value for money. If it's from Wetherspoons, the chances are that it's good—so if you're in the UK and you want what's nearly guaranteed to be a good meal, Wetherspoons is a safe bet. (For anyone who drinks—a wide variety of pints are priced very reasonably, here. I can't go into too much detail, as I don't drink—but a friend who does gave me the quick rundown.) Regarding washrooms/toilets: The bathrooms are on the main floor—and the word that comes to mind is "dignified". As a male, I appreciate that there are separating walls for all of the urinals—the only time I'm not pee shy to the point of having trouble is when I'm back in Canada, under the strong influence of cannabis. I have been to many places in the UK (and Canada) without walls separating the urinals—it's never fun. The toilets themselves are very confidential—very, very tall separators. Good for you guys—few places anywhere at all get it so right. I think the Wetherspoons at the Sir John Moore even goes so far as to have individual toilets, entirely walled-off from one-another, with a very tall door; I've literally never seen such good execution on the idea of a "dignified public restroom", or anything close. Both are winners. Love the location, love the food, love how I never feel like I'm a prisoner or live in a barn—it really is too bad I don't live in the country, let alone the area! Great restaurant.

I lost my phone... I thought I left it in the bathroom and I did not but the staff were lovely and accommodating even tho I was stressed and crying. I did indeed get my phone back (it wasn't in spoons tho) thank you to the staff and management 💗💗💗 xx

Have been going for a few months every week for breakfast. In the past it wasnt too bad. But now the breakfast comes out cold, the plate was cold and some of the food was cold. The eggs leave a lot to be desired. Sent it back , it was just microwaved, so result was everything was tough. Might need to look for somewhere else I think.

Okay not the best wetherspoons I've been in

Had a very disappointing breakfast. Freedom breakfast eggs were overcooked and burned underneath and covered up with other items to try and hide this. Husband had scottish breakfast and the toast was just hot bread. We were looking forward to it as we have had lovely meals here previously

I like Wetherspoons, The Food is nice. My favourite thing is the chicken tikka with garlic naan, but there are other nice things to eat too.

My guest's food was uneditable, not fit for human consumption - the sirloin steak was a piece of cremated fat, the peppercorn sauce was cold and lumpy, the mashed potatoes had grown a skin of their own, the cold mushroom was soggy and the peas were cold. In the middle of ordering two antisocial staff just walked off for no apparent reason. The pig ignorant waitress slammed the potmess almost through the table when serving it. The food was not even fit for a dog, absolutely vile food being served at the Auld Brig, they are a disgrace to the Wetherspoon chain. I would give them a zero rating. I had to get a refund and we went somewhere else for dinner.

It is a Weatherspoon's, owned by a bloke who voted for brexit and then complained when he couldn't get any drivers to deliver his beer. I will never use a Wetherspoons again. I now use The Carrick. Other end of the river Gate but does food like Wetherspoons at Wetherspoons prices but without all the brexit guff

Good evening. Just a point l wish to raise with your company. I feel that you need to change the beans in the breckfast as they totaly ruined the taste of the whole thing. I certainly would have paid the extra to enjoy this but insted l feel l wont be back. Yours

Pish, and usually overcrowded wae pensioners. They got rid of the Gourmet Burger which was like their one gid food item.

Came here for a wee treat for mother's day as we were having a day out. We ordered at the till, waited over 40 mins for our food the big rush was over at this point. Ordered a BBQ beef burger, kids pizza and fish and chips. The kids pizza plate was boiling hot would say it was hotter than the pizza it's self. The adults ones were like warm. We started to get our meal when taking the salad off my burger I noticed something shiny in it, upon closer look it was a strand of metal running through the actual burger patty. Husband went up to complain after they realized how big the peice of metal was we were offered a refund for the burger only even though no one else trusted eating theres. Would avoid at all cost would put me off visiting any of there sister branches as well

Fish n chips Is best by far in Irvine

My partner and I were in on Mother's day, the tables were filthy covered in plates, people were trying to clean there own tables, I have seen the place busier it was un organized chaos, staff were walking past dirty tables, the bar was covered in plates, glasses, cutlery, and when our food arrived it was cold very disappointed

Had a work lunch. Curry day on Thursday - a katsu chicken curry, soft drink and coffee was under £10 all in. You can't beat it. Fast too.

Havnt been to this place for a long time ,I thought I would give it a try . Pleasant staff,clean and well looked after. Had a coffee ( free refills) not Costa but still good , bit of toast as well .I stayed with a mate for over an hour.
