Went in with my brother for a wee drink and found a pube in my pint, told the barman who laughed and said it’s no his cos he’s bald and shaves aw his balls. Discusting way to speak to your customers! If that was not bad enough we had ordered some fish and chips and we were served some cheap frozen crap from farm foods, when we questioned it we were told it was fresh caught that day by the owner. Not convinced we asked another waitress who confirmed it was frozen and bought in cheap crap. The place is a shambles surprised it’s still open.

Popped in with my sister and baby for lunch. Pub was quiet and upon arrival we felt they didn’t really ant us there. May have been as we had the baby? The staff did warm up a bit however. I had the soup which I really believe had been watered down to go further. It may have been quite nice otherwise. Helpful in heating up baby food. My sister and I couldn’t eat our meals as they had already been salted? Visible salt on our chips etc. Never known somewhere to do this. Did mention this to staff but no apology or offer of discount for non consumption. Toilet had no loo role 😫 Girl behind the bar spent the whole time swearing and shouting on the phone to someone. Not a pleasant atmosphere.

Popped in for a drink before meeting a friend for dinner. Wished I hadn’t. It’s the pub where all the undesirables go. The staff are hopeless and the manageress is up her own backside. Horrible throughout. Never bothered ordering a drink.

Absolute fantastic place. I have very specific dietary requirements and these guys honestly catered to every request and more. I had a home delivery around December time, i ordered a range of meals for myself and the other half. After advising I had allergies i was put onto the chef who reassured me about the contents of the dishes. I was satisfied with my phone-call with the mans abilities, however when the delivery arrived all expectations had been surpassed. He individually on each dish and container wrote all the ingredients contained and separated the contaminated items in separate bags. Honestly i have never received service like that in my 26 years on this earth. As an added bonus the food was brilliant no faults cant wait to get another. Top marks chef needs a raise!

Brief stop at The Home on the High Street in Kilwinning. Beer good, barmaid friendly, seats a bit threadbare, customers fairly friendly. I would have a quick pint in there again if I was in the area but it isn't my favourite pub in the world.

just had the steak pie for my sunday dinner with the family. the service couldn't be better and the kids were made to feel welcome. high chairs and baby change were also used by ourselves. ruby loved the spaghetti and bolognese and my wife sais that the house rose wine was so good she needed a second bottle

Great quality food and families are welcome prices are really reasonable, fast and welcoming staff, good range of foods to suit everyone

Lovely surroundings, good service, turkey lunch dissapointing, meat was compressed and hard cut too thick and dry, not charged after complaint

Three of us arrived for lunch. Ordered 3 steak baguettes 2 with chips. Meals arrived very quickly. Well presented and full of steak strips and some onions. Chips crispy and tasty(unusual nowadays). Young lady long dark hair who delivered meal was friendly as was man behind bar. Excellent value for money surprised how quiet it was (pity). Have been before a few times and am always impressed with meals and prices here. Perhaps menu could be a little more comprehensive but maybe its quality of food and not choice that's important really. Will be back again and keep on serving the generous portions at these prices please !!!

I had the beef burger it was really poor quality served with a salad that was by it's best and over salted chips. So bad to see this place decline!

Visited for lunch. The high chair provided was dirty and broken. The food was terrible. I had a steak baguette it came with a horrible Bisto gravy all over it! The chicken burger was dry and pretty inedible! We told the staff the food was awful they didn't offer a discount or a replacement! Will definitely not go back! Yuk!

Very poor. Lasagne was like chunks of mince in a tomato sauce covered in cheddar cheese which was quite greasy, garlic bread was only grilled on one side and chips were also just warm. Table needed cleaned and menu was on a sheet of A4 paper with food stains on it. Won't be back.

Popped in for a lunch here and thoroughly enjoyed my burger. My wife opted for vegetable fajitas which were fine if a little plain. Staff were really friendly and service was quick too.

Visited for lunch. Food was OK the cajun chicken was not marinated the cajun spice was just lumped unevenly on top of the chicken. Menu choices were quite limited. Tables were sticky and the menu was dirty. My husband got a burger which wasn't great. Overall I would rush back anytime soon.

Popped in for lunch, I got a the burger was decent but nothing more. The setting was decent, the toilets need a bit of a upgrade and food could be better.

Lovely food friendly staff fantastic price worth a visit :) full of students during the week though so be picky about when you go.

I waited around 40 minutes for my soup and my friend waited 45 for his food and the place was not crowed or that and the soup was small with a bit to much pepper but was eatable

visited today for lunch not been in for a while place was busy with drinkers & we took our table eating area had a lot of people drinking in the area & swearing in front of my kids was going to leave but tried a different table.food is really good here but the slow service & people swearing around your kids spoils the place when i was in before the seating area was for eating now it seems you can sit anywhere.after eating we were waiting for my kids ice cream but after 30mins we decided to leave Home isn't really catered for diners anymore servers were friendly but wont be back :( food is great quality but service needs to improve

We were pleasantly surprised by this little pub/restaurant. We had dropped in to Kilwinning to quickly see the Abbey and had absolutely no expectations going into this bar across the street that appeared to be named, simply, Home. We were warmly greeted and the place was clean and very comfortable. The service, atmosphere and food were perfect for our quick lunch. Would recommend and return!

It's changed hand and menu if very very limited. Been great now good poor menu. Now beer and a burger place. Good burgers but sad it has changed.

The food is great and the service also :) always happy to help when needed id say probably best place in kilwinning right now everything is freshly cooked will go again.

Been several time for lunch now always decent food and good service. Nice friendly staff. Best in kilwinning for lunch despite the odd barfly.

The Home is a very friendly place to have a delicious meal, Lunch time or Evening it is freshly cooked and very well presented and alway tastes delicious,Why not give it a try .

Parked in the carpark round the back to see one of the kitchen staff standing at the back door smoking. Then inside the chef wasnt busy and was hanging around the bar without proper chef whites on, unshaven and with dirty trainers on. The food was okay but not worth the money.

Have eaten at Home on several occasions with various results. Most of the time it was for lunch with friends and it was good value. Service,was good and food tasty. On other occasions it was with an organised group,when we were asked to choose in advanced from a menu. On these occasions service was slow but staff were pleasant and helpful. However don't order steak. I ordered it on two visits and both times it was so tough it was inedible. I was unable to cut it even with a steak knife. I would however recommend the fish. Batter is light and crispy and the fillet large. I call it whale and chips. On the whole Home is worth a visit.

Been in home quite alot and served by the same young man the last two times. Very welcoming and Lovely manor and was happy to accommodate my fussiness. Will definitely be back again soon.

its ok nothing to write home about basic could do with a lick of paint though maybe some staff training on how not to be on your mobile when working. Wouldn't go back in a hurry

I met 7 of my friends here recently to celebrate a birthday. It wasn't too busy so we had plenty of choice where to sit. The drinks were reasonably priced, the service was quick and we weren't hassled by staff. We ordered food, of which there was plenty to choose from on the menu and we didn't have to wait too long for either. Everyone enjoyed what they had ordered and the portions were a good size. My only negative comment would be the background music blaring. Not my choice and a little too loud. Otherwise I would certainly recommend this nice wee place and hope to go back again.

Friendly and welcoming staff, food was great, the steak pie I had was flawless. Loved the fact it's child friendly too and my wee girl was spoken to and given colouring books not to mention the fact kids eat free, brilliant. Excellent value for good service and good food.

This was our fourth visit. Off to a bad start- the menus were needing a good wipe and the table was sticky-we shouldn't need to ask for them to be cleaned. My wedges were ok but my sister was not keen on her pate. We both ordered fish and chips which I had had on a previous visit but the batter was very greasy.I think I will try somewhere else in future

Been a few times with girlfriend and i enjoy the fillet steak, although i went once and it was really small compared to most times! Its a great place to have a few drinks and a meal, game of pool, go on the bandit etc.

Husband and I were here recently about 5pm midweek for a meal. One chap behind bar he was very nice quick to serve us and pleasant , the food was lovely and well presented. I would have given 4stars but the music drove us out . This is not a nightclub music should be in background it was blaring. Management should decide what music and how loud not staff

Pub Grub, and not even the best at that..Ok for a quick snack burger and pint.alot better close by and with better atmospheres..

A pleasant pub restaurant based right in the heart of Kilwinning. You'll get a pleasant welcome, we had a fixed price 3 course option that gave an excellent selection. The fish and chips was great plus the desserts are well presented like the other courses. Well worth a try.

Came here one evening for a meal staff were too busy on phones or not at bar when waiting to pay or order drinks no one was to be seen. Food was rubbish was cold and tastless. We waited 40mins for meal was no sorry given she couldnt wait until she was back behind the bar on phone! I wont be back, have been in a few times before and the bar staff were on phones then so a see that hasnt changed!

we booked home for our daughters 18th birthday party,26 family members for a meal and 150 of my daughters friends for an evening buffet,sandra and her staff were very pleasant and accommodating and really helped to make the party a great success, the meals were very wellpresented and all within our company were very complimentary to the chef,the buffet also received rave comments from the young ones at the party,all in all a really good night with goodfood and beveridges at reasonable prices in a very friendly and welcoming bar/restaurant,thank you and well done to sandra and her staff at home.

took my daughter in for a late lunch 7 were greeted by lovely staff who were very polite chose the beast burger which was really nice great value for what you got.my daughter wasn't keen on the children's menu so went to choose the macaroni from the adults menu when the waitress informed me they would do a kids version for her which i thought was great then another waiter asked us if we wanted them to make chicken nuggets for her which weren't on the menu which was really kind of them chicken nuggets were home made & great.would recommend any time :)

Popped in unplanned staff very pleasant and accommodating organised us a table very quickly, I had a delicious steak meal and my wife ate off the 2 or 3 course set menu which was a bargain to be honest! Food & service was smashing will definitely be back soon. We where served by a very friendly well mannered young male. Picked up some brochures to book for Xmas time as agin great prices!

the food seems to vary in quality quite a bit..other people have remarked on this as well.when it is good it is very good .

Came here one afternoon with friends place is lovely, meals were fab everything was perfect just the way we asked, chefs done a great job. Only thing we found bad was one of the bar staff spend more time on her phone but other than that it was great. Would definitely be back and recommend to frinds and family :)

Been here a few times now for lunch and the food is mostly nice however the last time we visited we sent back the toffee cakes which were very dry and tasteless. Was not deducted from the bill which I would of expected from a restaurant who were aware of the problem. We are due to go to one of their Xmas nights out so hopefully nicer next time.

Not impressed!!Been here on many occasion over past years! But this place is going downhill,-- dirty cutlery, small portions, frozen cold chips, frozen cold veg! (Some) Bar staff helpful, others not!Wont be visiting here any time soon, and would not recommend to my family or friends.

Had friends visiting had a lovely meal, good atmospher!and always good value for money will be back .

I visit Home on a regular basis both with work and family, The menu caters for all - from full three course meals to childrens menu - the food is amazingly presented and tastes great - I never have any issues with the meat cooked to perfection and have recommended it to all friends and business collegues - this is a little jewel tucked away but food is worth the visit !

Would recommend. Great value for money for both food and drink! Great kids menu and great new deals. Great to have somewhere like this which is local!

The food is very good and value for your money . Also the staff make u feel very welcome and very helpful if any problems you may have . Its a place where u can take kids off all ages .

been in for a meal and drinks a few times, really enjoyed the atmosphere, food and drinks! very relaxing, staff are really friendly. food excellent. was there for graduation nite, for celebration meal, it was brill! would definitely recommend this place. best place for a meal reasonable prices too. great for all ages during the day, child friendly with child menus!

The service here was first class, a very pleasant young girl served both the tables and the bar, nothing was a problem to her. She handled it with ease. My wife and I had liver pate for starters, then for our main we both had haddock and chips with salad. The fish and the batter were to die for, the best we have ever tasted, and plenty on the plate. No real atmosphere as it is a large bar diner, a bit noisy. We liked the food, we also had two nice pots of tea, the price was great at £27.We live in the town but had never tried it before, both my daughters recommended it to us.Disliked the pool table, although nobody was playing on it, but could imagine it to be noisy when busy. All in all would re-visit on a quiet Sunday!

visited this bar/restaurant for a friend's birthday treat and was expecting the usual pub menu but was pleasantly surprised by the choice of food, the hard bit being what to choose...I had sea bass on a bed of mash with veg which was delish and my friends said the same about their choices... the sweets presentation was of a very high standard and just delicious...staff and service friendly and efficient...the only downside was as we arrived early there was just some nice background music but as the place got busier there was as DJ present and the music got louder which made it difficult to talk...but would return to try out other choices on the wonderful menu.

Good atmospher, good food and a drink what more do you need!!

Visited today during the Kilwinning Jubilee celebrations they were great food is lovely and the menu varies for everones taste would recommend,we had a 10yr old with us she was definatley well catered for good service and very helpfull staff

I was visiting family in Kilwinning and we went to Home for lunch. To be honest I was expecting typical pub food (which can be very comforting ), but this was much better. My brother-in -law went for the great value two course lunch. My sister and I chose from the a la carte menu. The Soup of the day (chicken noodle) was delicious. Our deep fried haddock was huge and very tasty. Chips were nice too. My brother -in-law's Macaroni was also very nice. Staff were very pleasant. Toilets were clean. Only complaint was music(?) which was dire and a bit loud.

My husband and I visited for lunch after some friends had said that it was very good.The chips were burnt, the salad soggy, the chicken was like leather and was only luke warm.Very overpriced for what was no more than very poor pub grub.

Home cooked meals, best beef curry I've ever had and 2 course special is well worth the money.

Always have had a great experience eating out at Home. Staff are friendly, the atmosphere is nice and they offer excellent value for money.
