Prima afhaal restaurant met een onverwacht zitgedeelte met prachtig uitzicht. Eten smaakt prima, medewerkers vriendelijk.

We stopped for lunch on the road north after a lengthy drive. We have been several times before and everything was fine but NEVER again!! Food was very poor quality and we will not return. I had fish and chips..the fish was over cooked and dry and the chips had obviously been sitting forever, they were like cardboard, chewy and horrible. My husband had macaroni and garlic bread, he declined the chips but his plate was served with chips on it. The cheese sauce had split and was tasteless and the garlic bread was so hard it was inedible. Just under £30 for 2 meals and 2 drinks was not cheap for a lunch that couldn’t be eaten! We were that exhausted and just wanted home so we left without complaining but we definitely will not be back.

We chose this place for its historical building. Food was good and there was plenty of tasties and cakes. The thing that we didn't like about this place was its expensive bill and the fact that there were few staffs to take care of customers orders. Wouldn't like to return.

Food looks lovely, but unfortunately it doesn't taste great. It's expensive and not value for money. The scones are dry, and the cakes are made to look bigger by the copious amount of cream piled on top.

Cozy, rustic, highland hotel with friendly staff, real log fire, excellent breakfast and great location. We stayed for two nights in the autumn and were kept warm, well fed, and slept well. The “rustic“ descriptor refers to quirky layouts and ancient bowed floors that give this place some character, and also to the wonderful log fire and leather sofas in the foyer. We ate in the bar one evening, sadly one of the meals was under the heat lamp for too long and was all but inedible (this small problem was handled excellently by the waiting staff). The other plate was delicious. I’m giving four stars because we enjoyed our stay, and could probably return again, but I couldn’t wholeheartedly recommend it to all of our friends.

Food we ordered was very good, however the wait was not Unsure if it was staff shortages. Half an hour for teas to be served and food was at least 15 minutes after. The place was very busy and one young girl appeared to be doing all the running with the food.

Very sad place. Everything looks cheap and nasty. Except the food is not cheap... £9.50 for a prawn or chicken baguette, err no thanks. The £4 slice of cake tasted factory made, yuck. Cheap chair and tables. Won't be going back.

Very expensive but food was nothing special. Fish was cooked fresh but chips tasted like they'd been pre-cooked and sitting a while. Portions are very small for the money too. Maybe a bit too reliant on being the only chippy on Arran and one of the few takeaways in Brodick that's open in the evening. Don't know that I'd have gone back if there was any other choice.

Very unhappy with the whole experience here, rude, unfriendly staff that made us feel like an inconvenience when ordering, no smiles or politeness, the only word spoken was the price we had to pay, after a 40 minute wait we received our order which was just a soup and a main meal, which was also a huge disappointment - for the price we pay we would expect cooked peas! And no crispy dried up chips that looked to have been cooked over and over. I have been here on 3 occasions now and the last two were unpleasant where the counter staff made us feel unwelcome just even approaching the place for a fly cup and a stale scone, so I thought we would give it another chance but 100% wont be back again and we will be taking our custom elsewhere.

We all got off the ferry looking for somewhere to eat. We weren’t particularly hungry and we were just looking for a small bite to eat. I ordered the pasta it looked amazing . The garlic bread was crispy and delicious. In my opinion, the pasta had more sugar than salt so 6/10 for me. 3 people ordered the croque monsieur and it was the most vast and colossal toastie I’ve laid an eye on. Overall it was a pretty nice meal. 7/10

It's what it is where it is so you do have to queue outside but there is usually shelter and you can eat under the shelter at tables if you wish. The orders are cooked to order so you do get freshly cooked hot food. The sign clearly states cooked in beef oil, so this may not suit everyone. The portions are fair the batter lacks a certain crispness. Would I go again probably.

I really wanted to give this a better score but I'm sorry, I just couldn't! Let's start with drinks: real ale - if you're pouring real ale, know how to do it! Pouring it the way you pour a pint of stout, won't give you the right results - you'll end up with a frothy pint that soon settles down to a flat pint. Also - keep your ale at the right temperature - it was WAY too cold. The service. This is where some of the points come off the review score. The barman, come waiter was pleasant enough, even if he wasn't particularly chatty. He was absolutely rushed off of his feet though and couldn't cope (not through any fault of his own - he was trying to take orders, serve food and pour drinks (and serve them) for a full restaurant). Inevitably, he ended up making mistakes. Half my chips were split on the floor. They were to be knocked off the bill - it didn't happen. I didn't complain (and I'm not complaining now - just telling it how it was). I felt sorry for the guy and would have hated to be in his position, so I think the last thing he needed was me complaining about some chips. The food - excellent. Good size portions (even without half my chips, haha) and the food was really tasty. Value for money - hmmmm another reason for points off the review score. It's just a bit on the pricey side for the type of dish offered. It is, to all intents and purposes, 'pub grub' but prices for more up market restaurant food. In comparison, we had more or less the same meal a couple of days later in Fort William, for almost half the price. Take a couple of quid off of each meal, learn how to condition and pour real ale (the CAMRA website will give you all you need to know in just a few minutes of reading) and get some help in for the poor guy who was ran ragged and I'm sure you'll end up with 5 star reviews on a consistent basis.

Visited here a couple of times and the garden centre can be a bit chaotic with not much of a sense of order in most areas, the cafe has always served decent hot food and generous portion sizes

What a shame the wonderful situation of the pub wasn’t matched by the quality of the food or service. We sent twice. The first time we were told there was an emergency menu because of supply problems. The food was tepid. The second time we were assured all was back to normal bit the menu still bore no relationship to pur expectations from the website and was average. Disappointing.

Lovely location and brilliant staff. Vegetarian options weren't as poor as previous review reflected. Vegetarian burger was nice with a lentil pattie and vegetable pattie was very filling and not over cooked. There was also a vegetarian lasagne on the menu which my partner very much enjoyed saying it was very tasty. Also an option of cheese salad and mac and cheese which we didn't try. Overall would definitely recommend.
