No volveremos.

The restaurant at the Peak I recently visited. Staff were so aggressive and unpleasant and the food was tasteless and over-priced, and my coffee did not taste clean. We had to leave because our food was taking so long - their excuse being, there was only one chef on the Saturday. How bout employ more people!? Horrible experience.

Visited this evening as a group of four before a comedy show in the Arts Centre. Waiter was very helpful and he alone would get 5 stars but unfortunately other issues would cause me to rate visit much lower...despite booking table weeks ago they didn't appear to have the reservation (but luckily had a table & nice waiter sat us immediately) drinks come from cafe bar just outside restaurant so if busy you have quite a wait, food temperature was just warm, not piping hot. Husband ordered gammon steak & skinny fries, his gammon came, then our three other diners main meals - with fries - all came and husband still waiting bizarrely on his fries. Must have been almost ten minutes after his steak came that his chips came?

Popped in on a Sunday evening after the pictures. Very quiet. Found a wobbly table and ordered from the 2 for £10 menu. Food was lovely- I had the cod with smashed tatties and my wife had the courgette fritters. Both had the peach and rice pudding. All lovely.Nice, clean setting and friendly staff. All in all a nice night out for us both. So, what's my beef? Well, I would have thought in this day and age that water was a given, especially as the tumblers were on the table. And, is a dish of olives or bread and oil just too much to offer? Little touches like this are noticed- especially when they are not there. Just a thought.

As others have said, what a difference since the in-house restaurant in the Macrobert Arts Centre got taken over by Clive Ramsay.Good general menu selection, even an excellent fixed price / specials options. Four of us had a mix of kedgeree, prawn risotto, burger and sea bream dishes and agreed each was delicious, very well presented and plentiful. It was pretty busy but the waiting staff were tremendous and the overall experience was really good...I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a pre/post show chomp, or even just going for the food!

Over the years I have eaten a lot at various establishment run by Clive and service has never been an issue but what a disaster this pre film meal was .We ordered waited check what was happening 20 mins later to be told our order had not gone in & we needed to wait another 20 mins ? Then 5 mins later they came to tell us that our order had gone in and was ready so I asked where the sharing platter starter was and was asked if I would now like it after my mains ! Then they brought our mains well they managed 3 out of 4 - my husbands did not arrive till we had to go for the film - he had to take it with him ! They did not charge for that and took 20% of the bill but it was a farce and I really regretted going . Sorry Clive I have a lot of respect for you but I know you will want to sort this out as this does your name no good at all.

Have been here a few times for a pre-theatre meal and particularly like the quirky menu - always something a bit different on offer along with the tried and tested e.g. the haddock and chips when you get a fish the size of a whale. I have eaten here a few times now. It's a good place to meet up with friends, or solo after walking round the lovely university campus grounds. You can enjoy a drink and a good, well cooked, filling meal, which I did. Service is fine and with the changing of the menu each season, it means that there's a nice choice and you'll see new items. There's a nice atmosphere and you do not feel rushed. You can eat more relaxed on a sofa or at a table in the restaurant area.

When visiting the baby cinema with a group of friends all of whom had babies with them, we decided to stay back at the cafe/restaurant for food as they had high chairs and so we assumed they would accommodate us. We were seated after having tables arranged and settling the babies to eat. My friend had requested for the the kitchen to heat up her daughters meal of minced meat and sweet potato but was told its wasn't allowed. She thought if she explained her daughters dietary requirements to the manager they might accommodate her as a large group of us were ready to order. She was approached by a rude little man with a Walky talky and without any introduction he greeted her with " I hear you've got a problem" Utterly disgusting, this mans the manager in the hospitality industry?? He then stands there utterly Uninterested, telling her its illegal but will give her a bowl of water to heat it. Obviously hot water to reheat minced meat wouldn't be very safe and so after being informed that it wouldn't be appropriate to heat it that way, he says he would ask the kitchen if they will oblige. They said no, which is fine, rules are rules but, manners cost nothing! The manager returns and without an apology states " health and safety won't allow it" and flounced off without so much as a sorry. Any other time, the rest of us might have stayed, if he had been apologetic or even acted as though he would try to accommodate us but, he was completely full of attitude from the second he arrived at the table. We all left sorely disappointed and found a lovely much more accommodating restaurant down the road. I won't be returning to the mac Robert anytime soon and I wouldn't be recommending that any of my friends visit either.

We have been going to the MacRobert for around 5 years and have enjoyed lot of great family outings there. However I am not sure what has happened.. the place is run down.. and books for kids are in poor condition, which is fine if there are other things to amuse them. There used to be a playhouse and paper and crayons, nothing like that now. Food was poor also. The whole vibe of the place has changed and not for the better. We are frequent visitors however last week will be our last. A real shame as it was great to take the kids on a rainy day and have a nice meal where kids were welcome!

My pate came with three tiny oatcakes. I asked the waiter if I might have another one only to be told on his return from asking the chef that this was not possible as they came in packets of three. There was little ambience, nothing like Filmhouse in Edinburgh for example. Best to avoid.

Visited with my husband recently after receiving a hotel, spa and afternoon tea voucher for my 50th birthday. My husband suffers from a severe seafood/fish allergy and carries an epipen after being hospitalised in the past. This was explained to the staff who said that this "was a standard request and would not be an issue" After waiting over 30 minutes with no sign of our afternoon tea I asked a member of staff if there was any sign of our food and were told that our server that forgotten to order our afternoon and did we want to wait! I explained that we had received a gift voucher so we would have no choice but to wait. After another 15 minute wait our afternoon tea arrived. My husband who was starving by this point was just about to tuck into the savories when I detected a smell of fish. It transpired that there were 2 salmon tartlets which were also touching the sandwiches. I immediately removed them from the plate and took them to the server who confirmed that these were indeed salmon! What point of a seafood/fish allergy do they not get. I immediately asked to see the manager and he agreed that this was completely unacceptable. I did feel that some of the staff did not appreciate how serious this could have become if my husband had eaten one of these tartlets. We did not eat any of the afternoon tea after this as we simply could not take any chances. A refund was given but this definitely did put a dampner on what should have been a lovely birthday treat.

Stayed for an overnight on the way back to Glasgow. The evening before we were told there were grilled sandwiches available all day. Returning for breakfast at 9.15am we were then told that only coffee was available. We purchased this £3 for a cold coffee from a flask with a disgusting spoon that had clearly been sitting for hours. When I asked for a clean one and commented I was told I could get my money back in a very aggressive manner. Knowing that there was nothing else in the area I felt very intimidated as I was with a group of females the man clearly had an issue. Then going for a shower to experience faeces up the walls on the main floor and toilets that couldn’t be used. I would not recommend!! The staff on the previous evening were great and having been many times before with other friends and family. This place has clearly been taken over and went right down hill!! If you want a relaxing break away AVOID !! Many other amazing places in the area that accommodate a lot better. Definitely not recommended for females only.
