The Rialto

East Berwickshire, Scottish Borders
16/04/2019: Absolutely quite outstanding everything! Nothing not to like here and a place that can actually make a real flat white!
10/04/2019: Called in to The Rialto recently and had the most delicious coffee. Also had a slice of the Earl Grey Tea Loaf which was lovely, the Earl Grey tea gave it a lovely flavour. Very friendly and will certainly go there any time we are in the area. If you appreciate good quality coffee then thoroughly recommend The Rialto.

Ebb Carr's

East Berwickshire, Scottish Borders
06/04/2019: Pooped inn for coffee and a scone on a sunny afternoon, sat in the Sun and enjoyed a cheese scone and good coffee
05/04/2019: Have been here several times when over at st Abbs on a day out. First time I had lobster which was perfect, sadly it's not been available since. The crab salad is gorgeous, lovely fresh tasty crab and if you're hungry, go for the Cullen skunk to start, it's delicious, better than the one we had in Cullen even.

ReadingLasses

Mid Galloway, Dumfries & Galloway, 20-30£
05/04/2019: Had some great soups on a blustery day. Unfortunately sandwiches were not available today but that’s a “one off” as the person who makes them had to be off. Ample selection of cakes and treats go well with a pot of tea. Try the Salted Caramel brownie. You won’t be disappointed.
30/03/2019: Visited with my daughter and grand daughter for lunch. Good choice of menu and beautiful home made cakes and scones. Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely separate areas for eating and drinking and reading and the atmosphere is unique. This place has lots of personality.

Campbell's Restaurant

Stranraer and North Rhins, Dumfries & Galloway
01/04/2019: Had enjoyed a few visits to this restaurant under its Campbell's years, now trading as Connors have to say this visit the food quality nowhere near as good, starters of tasteless soup and overdone, yes overdone and poor quality mussels followed by overcooked seafood medley and stroganoff in which the meat was so tough we had to ask for a sharper knife to cut it, response was I'll let the chef know ( last we heard on that topic)
30/03/2019: Visited this restaurant a couple of years ago when it was Campbell's,had a lovely meal and great ambience, felt that you where at a really good restaurant and the food was excellent,so different this time, felt like a school canteen candles on the table but no one bothered to light them , l had chicken supreme, very small piece of dry chicken sitting on a smear of tomato sauce and three cherry tomatoes,to accompany this l was presented with a bowl of anaemic looking dry chips and three dry boiled potatoes, I complained to the waitress, nothing was done and again when we paid ,only to be told that's what the dish was! Never again

Loch Arthur Creamery and Cafe

Abbey, Dumfries & Galloway
10/04/2019: Really nice cafe. Good coffee. Fast and friendly service. Beautiful view out to fields and pond. Lovely shop with loads of fresh produce and nice gift items. Highly recommend!
09/04/2019: We enjoy a visit to Loch Arthur. Can be very busy at lunchtime, but food is tasty and freshly prepared. We had an afternoon coffee + cake this time. Service is friendly, and the cakes are great. Carrot cake and coffee cake were our choices this time - delicious, big slices and not overpriced. The toilets are clean, and the shop sells a variety of tempting products. We bought the Victoria plum jam and Loch Arthur’s own orange and chocolate biscuits which are really yummy. Lots of healthy foodstuffs, toiletries and household items on sale. Definitely worth a visit.

The Cressfield Hotel

Annandale East and Eskdale, Dumfries & Galloway
10/04/2019: Stayed last weekend with friends as we were attending a other friend’s daughters wedding nearby. Met the great host /owner Nigel. We had a lovely room and nothing a problem for Nigel. Breakfast was fabulous and set us up for the day. The bar looked busy when we came back after the wedding and after a wonderful sleep left this idilic hotel. So if you want a break driving north or indeed south I can highly recommend this lovely hotel. The taxi driver who took us to the wedding venue and who picked up most guests at various other hotels said “you have knocked it off staying at Cressfield,it’s the best in the area “ who am I to argue with him.
06/04/2019: Visited Cressfield again. My partner had the steak and I had the lamb special. I can honestly say that the lamb special exceeded all expectations. The flavours complemented and augmented the lamb beautifully. I think this was one if the tastiest lamb dishes I have had. The steak my partner had never fails to impress. These main courses along with the super starters and desserts make The Cressfield Hotel a worthy destination. The accommodation is also lovely and throughout the hotel the staff are welcoming and strive to please. The atmosphere is informal but retains the elegance of the beautiful building. The owner is attentive without being intrusive and engenders similar attributes within his staff. I thoroughly recommend The Cressfield Hotel to anyone who values good food and service.

Castle Restaurant

Dee, Dumfries & Galloway
31/03/2019: My husband and I went last Saturday evening and were promptly shown to a table. The waitress informed us immediately about the specials and got us drinks. We had the sea bass and pork loin and both were so good. Best food we had in a while. Chef and we think owner Paul joined the service team towards the end of the night and we had a good laugh with him. Excellent small restaurant that's well worth a visit. We would definitely go back if it was closer to home.
14/03/2019: Could not have been better. The service was flawless and the food was delicious. Will definitely be returning in the future.

Coltman's Delicatessen & Kitchen

Tweeddale West, Scottish Borders
19/04/2019: My wife ( who is disabled) and I visited for morning coffee. Entrance to the cafe through the shop. Easy to manoeuvre the wheel chair through the premises. Met at the cafe door by a helpful member of staff who guided us to a suitable table. Cannot fault the service or food. Large disabled toilet which easily accommodated the wheel chair.
19/04/2019: On joliday in Peebles and gave here a go based on the reviews. We arrived and were seated quickly and given a chance to peruse the menu and wine list.

The Selkirk Arms Bar, Bistro and Restaurant

Dee, Dumfries & Galloway, 30-45£
17/04/2019: I attended the Supper and Speakers evening. We were greeted by Chris (Owner) and taken to our seats and had a drink before the evening started. A relaxed atmosphere as we settled down to a beautful two course meal. I had lamb tagine, the lamb melted in the mouth. The dessert was fantastic. Staff were so attentive! Another drink before the speakers. The speakers were from a local cycling holiday group who shared with us their 4 years experience cycling round the world. It was a wonderful evening spent in a lovely hotel. Thank you.
17/04/2019: Constantly busy with a mix of locals and visitors, which is always a good sign. Good selection of locals beers and reasonably priced wines. The menu is wide ranging and it was easy to get something to suit all our palates. It was nice to note separate vegan and vegetarian options. Service was efficient and genuine. Would definitely recommend it if you are ever on the sw300 route or just visiting
