The Dragonfly in Dumfries & Galloway

Messaged direct 20/08/2022 and Dragonfly replied they have ceased serving food recently. Accommodation is available as self catering or B&B and unaffected.

I have been to the Dragonfly a couple of times now, and every time I'm impressed. The meals are wonderful (especially the chilli) and the customer service is excellent! As a vegan, this is one of my top restaurants. Another plus side is that they allow dogs.

We stayed for 2 nights in October and had such a lovely stay. Esther is a wonderful and accommodating host...and also an excellent cook! It was really helpful to have lots of local walking routes printed out and available to borrow, this helped us to explore the local area, which offers stunning views and a good variety of walks. We hope to be back in 2021 as a party of 3 😊

We stopped at this lovely decorated restaurant on a Sunday at about 1230. As it is out of season, we were lucky enough to be the only ones in there. A warm greeting welcomed us followed by a few drinks, I would recommend the local Ale’s . The food service was prompt, for starter we had the Yemen Soup. This appetiser was gorgeous, just what we needed Ona wet and windy day. The main courses consisted of Pizza and Nachos, it may sound standard but I can promise you it was amazing. All homemade, these meals were all presented and tasted Lovely. I would highly recommend this eatery, they are also dog friendly! Such a lovely cosy place to sample some fine food and service.

Quite probably the best tacos I’ve eaten. In all the world. Bar none. A really lucky find. I’d have travelled far simply to try them. The rest of the menu also looks amazing. A must visit for anyone from far and wide.

My brother and I visited for a late lunch enroute to the dark sky and wow .. the tacos were the most delicious I have ever tasted. I didn't have room for cake but would definitely make the effort to return. The restaurant is so comfy and welcoming. I love the little hand-painted stones and the staff were incredibly friendly. Menu for evening meals looks delicious as did the pizza heading to the table behind us.

We stayed and ate here. The owner and staff is very kind, accommodating, knowledgeable about the area, and very attentive. The chef gave us some fantastic places to visit in Kirkcudbright and the owner told us about Auchencairn Public Garden. Free parking is onsite and off the main road. The Inn - The bed is comfortable and has many pillows. There is a TV, towels, tea kettle with tea, and toiletries. It is very peaceful so you will have a wonderful nights sleep. The shower was divine and has a great massaging pressure. There is a backyard with a fire pit, several hammocks, and tables should you choose to enjoy them. They do offer massages and hypnotherapy services too from 15 minute sessions and more. The restaurant uses fresh ingredients and they cater to all walks of life including vegans, diabetics and gluten-free individuals. Every night the place was packed and it is a lovely atmosphere. Although the Inn is connected to the restaurant, the sound does not carry up to the rooms. I recommend this to anyone who wants to get away or is just passing through the area. It is only 20minutes from Kirkcudbright and is much cheaper!

Vegetarian and good vegan options. Tasty and interesting. Portions large - some of the sides were too large! Overall ambiance welcoming. Service was welcoming. Cake selection was homemade and good mosit sponge. Downside is the sporadic/limited oepning hours.

A warm welcome and fantastic food. We went for Sunday lunch and had cottage pie followed by apple crumble with ice cream. All piping hot, vegan and amazingly tasty. My non-veggie partner loved it as much as I did. Recommended for all!

I am not a veggie, but I do enjoy eating veggie. The Dragonfly certainly didn't disappoint. Both my friend (who is a much travelled Foodie) and I were so impressed with quality of the cooking, the atmosphere and location and the service. As per usual with eateries I peeked into the kitchen as well, very clean and well organised. Back to the food: Tasty, adequate portions and beautifully presented. And such a reasonable price.

Well worth a visit , food is amazing and all freshly made to order,atmosphere great and staff very friendly, will definitely return , highly recommend. Excellent value for money

Very warm welcome by very pleasant staff,very comfortable and pleasant decor small and simple menu but oh so tasty and cooked to order.We could not fault the restaurant at all and will definitely e returning. If you enjoy good veggie/vegan Ivan highly recommend this establishment.

Ate here with my other half and this was honestly the best meal of our holiday. A small limited menu which is well thought out ensures there is something for everyone. Everything is cooked fresh so don't be in a rush, the decor is very restful and the owner is friendly and chatty. We enjoyed our shared starter of mushroom pate, the pasta and pizza for main then summer pudding and a chocolate meringue dessert which is honestly the best pudding I have ever had! If we lived nearby we would be visiting weekly! Highly recommend for fresh, seasonal dishes.
