My husband and I had an evening meal at The Smithy with a couple of friends on Saturday evening. The meal was excellent, as was the welcome and the service. The menu was imaginative and the atmosphere was very good. We would certainly eat there again if in the area and would thoroughly recommend it.
Just stopped off in passing for a coffee and scone. Excellent. Not one of the oversized scones that you often find nowadays. Very friendly and welcoming. Nice selection of gifts available too many of which are locally made.
Will definitely be back.
Wow what an amazing lunch, visited today with the dog and everyone was so attentive. Food absolutely delicious, all cooked to order so a wee wait but you’d expect that. Plenty parking, staff superb, can’t wait go back again.
Great welcome, varied menu, superb food which is very well presented, very nice atmosphere and environment and excellent dessert and coffee to finish a beautiful meal!
We have eaten here on a few occasions now and have never been disappointed with the food or service regardless of meal chosen and with nice cheerful staff and prices it is a great stop off on the way to the N Ireland ferries or back towards Dumfries, We would recommend this eatery without hesitation.
We stopped off at the deli while we were staying in Gatehouse. We visit every year and have often driven past wondering what it was like. We finally paid a visit and were not disappointed. A warm, friendly welcome and delicious food made to order. We’ll definitely be back when we visit in the Summer!
You know when your wife takes a photograph of the room key and sends it to you with a caption "Please can I come here again" you know it's a success. Great find by my wife for out wedding anniversary and visit to Glasgow. Great location, fabulous food...

This café is the best we have ever visited. Everything is homemade ache absolutely delicious. We had sublime soup and couldn't choose which cake to have so had 6 small pieces to try them all! The owner is incredibly friendly and so welcoming. Couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Absolutely fantastic.
Passing through towards the end of a long journey, we were delighted to find this open on a Monday morning. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was the most delicious I’ve ever tasted - especially that wonderful bacon! Definitely worth a detour!
Thanks so much!
Excellent B&B with fabulous hosts, Jackie & John. We were a family of 3 adults staying for 3 nights in the 2 available bedrooms.
Both rooms were spotless, comfortable, very well presented with very comfortable beds and good quality bedding. The rooms are en-suite with large walk in showers with plenty of hot water.
If you are looking to stay in the area then my advice would be to book the Crown & Anchor as our experience was 100% positive. We couldn’t find fault with anything. The location is stunning and so peaceful.
Breakfasts were delicious as was the food we had from the tea rooms downstairs. Jackie’s homemade Victoria sponge is to die for.
We were made to feel so welcome and would book here again if we were to return to Dumfries and Galloway. Jackie and John, thank you both so much for making our holiday so enjoyable x
