Excellent meal and excellent value. Beautiful view from our table. Surrounded by books. Combine your visit with adjacent plant centre. Lunch and evening.

I visited here last weekend and was blown away by the great meals and the friendly welcome we received. It was recommended to us by a local and we thought we'd give this new place a try. It is situated in an older building that used to be a hotel but now has a garden nursery in the grounds and this bistro inside, round the back of the building. It has amazing views over the water. It is open Friday, Saturday, Sunday at the moment. I had a wonderful caprese salad and the main course salad with grilled halloumi - both excellent. My other half had garlic mushrooms and then steak pie and that went down really well too. The menu has something for everyone. A great selection of drinks were available at the bar too. I felt very welcome in the bistro and found the owners and staff very friendly. They also have a huge selection of books lining the bookshelves of the bistro - well it is Wigtown after all! I ended up buying 6 books before I left. There's loads of mainstream fiction, cookery books etc and also the largest selection of Lesfic I have ever seen in one place, Wonderful! Highly recommended.
