1703 in Fife

Visited here twice within a week - first visit was on a Friday night as two couples for drinks after a meal elsewhere. The cocktail menu is huge and caters to just about every taste there is. We tried a fair few between us and loved every one of them. It was a Friday night and there was a total of about 12 customers including us 4 which was a surprise. A week later I went with a group of girlfriends for lunch and drinks. I have to say the service from the girl waiting on us was second to none. She really was customer focused snv I hope her bosses see that. The food was amazing - I had a chicken burger and it was delicious. It was a Friday afternoon and only a handful of other customers were in. People really need to use their local venues as it's unclear how they can keep running with few customers and it would be a real shame as this place is a bit of gem right in the city centre.

This is the worst place l have ever stayed in! The only saving grace was the really nice receptionist! The rooms were dated and my son’s room had mould in the bathroom. Also stains on the carpet. My bathroom had the taps the wrong way round! Hot was cold and cold was hot. It could be dangerous to some customers!

So much potential but poor. Stayed 3 nights. The staff are really warm and welcoming. The room was poor, really tired and it needs a makeover. Room size excellent, bed comfortable and a good shower. Breakfast service really slow, it took 10 minutes each morning to get tea and coffee. Breakfast god but really slow, averaging 30 mins to be made. The bar is nice but dark, in need of some light. Such nice people but gives you the impression that the hotel is failing from the inside. A seagull noise problem makes it so much worse, not the fault of the hotel but I thought that we were under attack with the noise before daylight.

Booked a two night stay mid week .. the write up on the hotel was fab .. beer Keller steak restaurant cafe bar .. we arrived & nothing was open .. the hotel was run down the room and bed was small .. the tv wasn’t working and the small window looked out into a wall .. after realising that nothing was open we tried to contact a member of staff but apart from the first night we never saw anyone .. I emailed the hotel twice but have had no response..on a positive the receptionist we met when we checked in was lovely

Ordered the Sunday Beef Roast , We were in early afternoon one ish , there was only another 2 tables occupied, so was surprised when they said there might be no beef left , they came back to say they had 2 left. My family had other dishes , but when mine arrived the the beef was grey thickly sliced and it took a lot of effort to cut it. It was almost impossible to chew it , as it was a birthday and Father’s Day I didn’t want to complain. Then to add to the disappointment I ordered a Porn Star Martini which is the worst one I’ve ever had. It was watered down and I doubt there was much alcohol involved. Therefore I’m sad to say I would not recommend here.

Visited with my husband to see cut the cake band perform. Lovely venue. Great service. Affordable drinks & lovely attentive staff. Really enjoyed.

We visited on a Sunday lunchtime with friends for a bite to eat. The venue is a tastefully renovated church and is lovely and clean.The food is fantastic and freshly prepared and has from light snacks to full and hearty meals. The staff are very friendly, pleasant and accommodating. We will certainly be returning.

Do not appreciate having to read the menu using light on my phone. Dining room was so dark could hardly see the menu. Asked the waitress if lights could be put up a bit but was told the Manager won’t let them. The next table also complained and the lights were put up ‘slightly’. Although the food was nice we will not be back - I like to see what I’m eating.

This is such a nice venue for lunch, the loaded fries are delicious and they are dog friendly which is so brilliant!

We have just had a great night at the 1703!! booked to stay one night and the room was lovely. Had dinner and breakfast too. All grand, particularly the breakfast! YUM! Food is great value. All the staff were just so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We were on the ground floor and it was a wee bit noisy from the road (not the pub, room is the other side) but the beds were comfy and room was clean. would definitely stay again if in the area.

Booked after reading good reviews and taking a look at menu Seated as soon as we arrived given menu and drinks order was taken which took a while to be delivered to our table Took another 15 minutes after drinks were served to take our food order Menu was limited but we opted for fish and chips no starter as hubby likes soup and only option was mushroom no haggis and black pudding bon bons Meals were served after a 20 minute wait. Fish was bland and tasteless and chips were half cooked i mentioned this to our server and they took a drink of the bill dessert was much better we both enjoyed this We wouldnt return as food was disappointing and service was very slow only saving grace is the staff are very welcoming and friendly

We were a table of 5...food very good, great choice for cocktails etc....very good service...only thing was, the portion sizes were too big, so much so, after eating a starter, could only eat half of my main meal, what a waste of food....if you just made the portions smaller, you would proberly find, people would have more courses, ie more money being spent in your resturant. Would certainly go again, but miss out the starter x Also was quite dark in the resturant, don't know if it was with, the rise of electric bills...could do with some more lighting

We came here for drinks, mega slow service and over priced drink costs. Wrong drinks also supplied. Much better places around Dunfermline.

We booked an afternoon tea with G&Ts for Friday and was not disappointed . A wee bit slow getting the food on the table, but it was worth the wait ,a superb selection of sandwiches and wraps cakes and scones well worth the money ,Well appointed seats and a large bar . I can imagine this being a bust place in the evening . We will certainly be back to try the evening menu

So I’ll start by saying the food we received on this visit was good - no issues at all. The low score is for the slow slow service. There were only 2 other tables of guests during our visit, 3 tables in the whole restaurant, yet it took an hour from us arriving to get 4 meals served to us, that was after we had booked a table! I am not the type to complaint in a restaurant but I felt I had to. We were given a free round of drinks but we were all so very unhappy. It obviously was not just us as the table next to us decided to cancel their desert order because they had been waiting so long! We didn’t order desert - we just wanted to leave asap, which really spoilt a family birthday celebration 🙁
